Safehouse #3: Rocky River, Ohio.
This small suburban home is carefully identical to those around it.

Re: Safehouse #3: Rocky River, Ohio.
Jake, still cloaked, arrives at the house. Given what he learned at the Mayor's place, the whole thing seemed like a bust. At least he got some recording of that other language they were speaking. That way he would not arrive empty handed. However, he wanted to check on it so he put in his headphones and gave a listen first.

Re: Safehouse #3: Rocky River, Ohio.
The recording begins to playback. You hear talking from the other guests around you as well as the music playing in the background. As the recording goes on, you hear a strong static sound, you figure coming from the area of the Mayor, when you pushed the recorder closer to them. No strange language, just static. This lasts for the remainder of the taped conversation.

The piece of grave-stone in your pocket sends a ripple through your undead body as you finish listening to the recording. Almost like listening to it sent out some sort of etheric ping into the Twilight.

"Hmm, our Mayor carries a WNG. Not as stone-age as he pretends to be." Rue called up the lists that she had gotten from the two power players, comparing them to note any differences.

"What the crap!?" He said, looking at the recording. "This safehouse may not be so safe." He said, appearing by Rue. "I just tried to listen to the recording I had made-they screwed with it. Worse, it seems to leave a link into the spirit world. We may have to move our meeting spot after tonight. How the fuck is that asshole able to gather so much power from the ghosts and nobody else seems to have noticed?" He asked her.

Rue looked startled, but nodded. She didn't get the woo--woo stuff, but it wasn't surprising to her that it had an equivalent of counter-surveillance. "All right, place is clean, we move now." She typed a command into the computer to tell it to strangle itself and swung open the safe. "Bugged item in there, let's move."

"Got it." Jake said. He would have to think about another way to get info-but the damn spirit world was a ghostly pain in the ass. Still, he had a way around him for the most part. Other vampires would not. He could use that to see how much power they could use against anyone with obfuscate.

Rue settled in, re-starting her comparison. She also brought up a camera/motion sensor setup remarking "I will be very interested to see just who responds to that ghost bug you picked up."

"It was the mayor. He had his own ghostly gal which was walking around. Warning him of when I was making a recording...and the fact I was there. However, she did not know precisely where-so I was able to get back out again." Jake said.

"Hmm, seems the woo-woo stuff has it's own limits. All very well to have a ghost wandering along, but one is still limited by the abilities of the ghost. If the ghost checks it out we may see nothing. Still, even negative information is useful."

"I would not rely on our regular abilities. They seem able to overcome standard obfuscate fairly easily." He shakes his head. "We need our own ghost expert. Assuming the Mayor has not grabbed every one of them in town..." He pointed out.

"I know a guy, named Edmund Callow. He's the reason I can fool the dead with my powers. He may be able to help us...but he don't work cheap, and he's sorta weird." Jake said to Rue. Needless to say, what a vampire thought was weird must go beyond strange to the downright unimaginable.

Rue considered, then clarified. She still remembered the geek who thought she was part of the package and would rather not go through that again. "Expensive in what way? Money, favors, what?" And while she was asking, what allies and enemies would they inherit with him? Always worth checking. The Vory boss who could get the passcodes but had a little gang war on his hands came to mind. "And is he a player? Come with any baggage?"

"Favors. His abilities are useful among ghosts-but not as much in terms of conflict. As a result he likes to use vampire muscle-in more ways than one." Jake says, sighing. "He's also one of these crusader types-expect its mostly in regards to dead people."

Re: Safehouses
"Well crusaders are at least predictable. Still, we will want to consider each favor on it's own though. Some of the things that come to mind are just... sad. Avenging a murder victim is fine. Submitting to possession so that some dead girl can have one last bang with her husband is just icky." Rue shrugged. "Talk to him, see what he says."

Jake looked at Rue and raised one of his non-existent eyebrows. "Who the hell is dumb enough to possess a dead body for banging? Even dead people are smarter than that...they possess alive people for such things. At least I hope they do..." He proceeds to make a call to Edmund.

Re: Safehouses
Rue flushed slightly, but met Jake's gaze squarely. She wasn't dead that way, or at least she hoped not. She knew that there were vampires who gave up on sex, finding the Kiss much easier and faster; but to her that was a precious chunk of her remaining humanity, and she didn't intend to let it slip away.

He did not smirk at Rue's expression, although he almost let it slip. "You know I can only keep these hours." Jake said, rolling his eyes. "I am putting you on speaker." He puts the phone down, and hits the button. "Ok, we got some possible work for you. We are dealing with vampires enslaving ghosts-or they got someone like you to do it for them."
