Oakwood apartment Complex
The Oakwood Complex has seen better days but it still earns money for whatever real estate company holds the deeds this month. The fact is that the entire neighborhood suffers a troubled history. It began with gangs, drugs, and violence in general and hasn't abated since the economic fall of the city as a whole. Despite such a reputation not every resident is on the side of lawlessness. Most, however, lack the spine or will to do or say anything about anything that goes on in their own backyard for fear of getting a visit from an enforcer of one sort or another.

This little detail has made it a favourite meeting spot and hunting ground for the less picky dinners of the local kindred. It doesn't hurt that it is easy to make anyone and thing in such a place... disappear.

Physically, the entire complex is a single large C shape with hard right angles and corner apartments. The white exterior paint has faded to a dirty grey and most of the windows are dark all day and night. The lawns are still tended as are the shrubbery but it's hard to shake the feeling of decay that hangs on the place. Made all the worse by the sounds of children at play to contrast the unpleasant state of affairs. Inside, it's no different though slightly cleaner than the outside.

OOC: 10pm

Rebecca's Requiem was an elaborate series of deceptions, of false faces and distractions.  She didn't believe in faking weakness or stupidity in order to lull others into a false sense of security, as such perceived weakness would lead others into taking shots at her that they might otherwise avoid.  Nor did she utilize intimidation and fear the way her Nosferatu compatriot did, isolating herself from others with macabre horror.  No, she was simply herself, and she tolerated no challenge to her carefully constructed pecking order.

She did not change into more appropriate clothing for her meeting with the Nosferatu Primogen, she did not even remove the silver from her throat and wrists.  She'd seen little point.  She could cow any mortal kine into his proper place with just a glance, she had nothing to fear of muggers or thugs in a place like this.  Her real foes had demonstrated that they wouldn't be fooled by a hoodie and a pair of blue jeans, so she didn't bother.  If they knew the location of this safe house, then there was little she could do to evade their detection.  Besides, she still had plenty of aces up her sleeve.

At exactly 10pm, she was nothing but punctual, the Savage knocked with three polite knocks on the door that matched the address she had been given.

Re: Oakwood apartment Complex
The door creaked open on absently tended hinges and revealed a room mired in murk, shadow, and dust from disuse. It was obvious that the Demon Archivist made little use of the place outside of emergencies and times of crisis like they were in now. Most didn't even think to suspect she had one permanent lair or another outside the circles of her associates and the better informed among her competition. Regardless, there she stood wrapped up in illusions of shadow, fear, and smoke that made her seem a forgettable older woman with hard and cynical eyes of emerald.

"Come in, come in." she greeted in a quiet tone as she moved gracefully out of the door. The economy of her motion proving vaguely upsetting to the unprepared mind as her eyes peered one way and the other down the corridor to ensure that none were watching.

Re: Oakwood apartment Complex
"Thank you, I trust you are fully recovered from last night's ordeal?  I don't think I was followed, but, given the adaptability our as of yet still unknown antagonists seem to be capable of I can't really be sure."

She refrained from using Elizabeth's real name while out in the hallway, an additional security precaution in case she was in fact being followed.  Her research had suggested that those mastering the Discipline of Auspex could pierce through the shadows that the Haunt's heritage seemed to provide, and that was still assuming that they were facing a threat that was Kindred in origin.  She felt the weight of the broken control rod in her leather belt pocket, and suppressed a shudder at the memory of the utterly alien thing that had been wielding it.

"Shall we start up where we left off last night?  I am both pleased and afraid to report there have been no developments on my end regarding identifying the nature of the O'Beanna's attackers."

"Recovered enough to not want to get into that sort of wrestling match again. The little wraith has exposed me to enough of the more... interesting corners of the internet to not care for the jokes that may result." the Demon Archivist responded with a lopsided grin crossing her features and evoking the thought of her many razored teeth. All the same, she seemed to move without an impression of pain or any real suffering. The demon hiding beneath the illusions and somewhere near the heart of the woman showed no signs of rearing it's ugly head either as she stepped into the murky and ill lit apartment. The scent of dust and disuse evident in all the rooms but one that was conspicuously and studiously clean. It seemed as if such would be the audience chamber for their evening.

"I think that would be for the best. We won't be bothered her as the charming residents don't care to poke their nose in the business of others... and really, what more could someone want out of a place?" Elizabeth added as she settled herself at the table after ensuring the door, windows, and everything else was locked and obscured from view. Every little mundane precaution was taken that wouldn't raise too many eyebrows from a mortal observer.

Re: Oakwood apartment Complex
Rebecca stepped through the threshold and into the hallway, ignoring the scent of mold and dust that filled her enhanced senses.  She walked straight towards the clean room, setting the broken control rod on the table and pulling out her laptop and loading up her notes from the night before.

"Well, back to the grind then.  I suppose we can theorycraft while we work.  You haven't heard anything from our dear leader have you, the elusive Julian Ward?  I am ashamed to admit I had no warning that he would be making that play with the First Estate at Elysium, and he has made no effort to contact me or any of mine in the space since then.  You'd think, given the current crisis, that he wouldn't leave the Movement without a leader.   One might be tempted to think he was somehow involved in the attacks against the Acolytes, but it just seems so crude.  I know that he isn't one for subtlety, but even for him this seems a little odd. "

OOC:  Giving you 1 extra die.  How many more successes did we need?

14:00, Today: Rebecca Morgan rolled 1 success using 5d10 with the World of Darkness nWoD system with a target of 8, rerolling 10s with rolls of 5,5,1,10(+4),2. Intelligence + Occult.

Elizabeth offered a wolfish grin that cut cleanly through the mask of obfuscations in unnatural and unnerving ways at the question. Her thoughts clearly split between the work at hand and the conversation passing between the two of them. The Demon Archivist certainly lived up to her name in that instant as her mind seemed to latch on to the disparate threads of their prior research and spun it into some tapestry of the macabre, unnatural, and horrific with that death warped mind and form she now wore thanks to her sire's unwanted gifts.

"I've been more interested in looking into our assailant of the night prior with my time and questions asked about our violent leader... well... they get attention that spreads if one's not careful. I can start to poke around about him and perhaps even have one or two haunts keep a distant eye on him but with a reputation as a man eater worse than the legend that hangs around me... Well, you can understand my reticence to send forth my warped and twisted kin. He's made no effort though to get in touch with me or any of my contacts as well... Simply vanished into the night like we cliche monsters are want to do. I'm inclined to think he has some greater power play in mind if only because he's snatched one of the pieces up from the board and the recommendations he's made towards the visiting Rue."

OOC: Think we were at 4 successes and needed 10?

20:30, Today: Elizabeth Carrol rolled 6 successes using 6d10 with the World of Darkness nWoD system with a target of 8, rerolling 10s with rolls of 6,5,10(+3),10(+10,9),10(+9),4. Int + Occult + Team assist.

WELL THEN.

OOC:  Continued conversation over the hour of research.

Rebecca talked as she typed.

"But what does he have to gain from an Invictus Mayoral candidate?  I can't imagine the First Estate would overlook his blatant violation of the Traditions, even if he assisted them in re-establishing themselves here in Cleveland. If that isn't his endgame, then what are his other options?  If he were looking to unseat the Mayor, he would have had to shore up his support first.  That would mean reaching out to you, myself, and Mr. Chan, which he clearly has not done.

I find it increasingly likely that he has been compromised somehow, particularly given that our Sheriff is also under suspicion."

Re: Oakwood apartment Complex
The Haunt considered the question with that same faintly avian tilt of head as she considered a little tid bit of data. Her teeth working with faint pops and creaks beneath the illusion of smoke and shadow she wraped herself in. Her eyes still blazed with that same fevered life, however, the beast showing through in too visceral away. The Demon wanted to be free but the Archivist's will held it in place.

"The First Estate have their own vitae sippers. They're just more... civil about it and turn a blind eye. The notion of him being compromised is certainly a prudent thought and fear to entertain but perhaps... It's chaos he wants? Perhaps he wants to put everyone off balance and scrambling to get answers so he can keep stirring the pot until something breaks and the whole system is crashing in flames? Another change in management and to clean house a little of our own cutlivated old boy's club?" the Haunt theorized with some thought as she considered the exploits of Mr. Ward. "Given his demonstrated talent... I wouldn't put it past him but one has to wonder how far gone the mind is?"

Rebecca's phone buzzed, and the text message was transferred over to her open laptop.  She leaned forward, quickly checking the Archive to ensure that the information checked out.

"Ah, and in case things were not complicated enough, I think Nicolette Constata has crawled out of whatever hole she was hiding in."

Rebecca knew Nicolette, from her time before the purge.  Her reappearance was both a boon and a bane to the current crisis.  She was wildfire.  An unstoppable natural force to bolster the Circle, but at what cost to them all?

OOC:  Roll to guess who the graffiti is referencing.

Elizabeth arched a brow in consideration of that point. It was another ripple introduced into the already surging pond. It seemed like if Ward's ambition was to shake things up through chaos... It was off to an excellent start. She let a hiss of air escape her then as a hand rose and ran through her long, black hair. The gesture predatory even through the obfuscations that disguised her as something innocuous and harmless to the eyes of any without the power of the Beast's insight.

"The beasts of the City won't be able to contain themselves for long at this rate. Someone's going to misstep eventually and it's going to be an all out brawl." the Demon Archivist said with a hint of her lisp in her words as she worked her fearsome jaws behind the illusions in consideration. Each little click of joint and tooth on tooth almost audible despite how well her talent for shadow and smoke hid it all.

IF the appropriate roll for knowing who Rebecca's referencing?

"Wise, I don't think she'd care for either of us showing our faces. Though she might regret the lack of information bleed that comes of it as a result." the Demon Archivist said with a smile that was wicked and predatory as she continued to type and data dredge on their current curious endeavor. "Of course, there'll be enough gossip after the fact to piece together the facts in their entirety."
