Harrigan, by "I could use the practice myself" are you meaning to offer to GM? EDIT: I missed that atom was.
I was -- but it looks like atmo has it under control. I was thinking smaller scale -- like I would truly run a scene or two to show how the mechanics worked (fighting, avoiding traps, bartering for goods, figuring out dungeon puzzles, etc.), not actually start a full-on campaign. I'm already doing that as well, and don't have time for a second. :)
That's what I initially envisioned too.
A quick game with 2-4 scenes (nothing elaborate) that showcased a bit of physical and social "fighting". Maybe covering a challenge, conflict, and contest (maybe each of those is a scene?)
Demo how Setting and Scene Aspects play out, etc. The person running it could even do pre-gens if really short for time. A blurb about the setting, or even just a one liner, with Aspects pre-defined would be alright. Though being able to contribute one would be cool. It is my opinion, and opinions are like..., that 3-4 setting aspects should be enough to do the equivalent of creating a setting in another rules set. Or, at least I hope I'm right, because that is a serious draw for me personally to FATE.
So, in a nutshell, I'm still looking for an introduction...
Not to mention just plain old basic FAE. I realize it can be "hacked" to better suit a setting, feel, etc. but at this point I just want to make sure I have a solid grasp of FAE.
