"Mittens is satisfied with the 'Pippkin will get his comeuppance another day' outlook.  Details on hired monster armies can wait as well, but I'm not ruling out the possibility."

The children and Mittens giggle together at Darcy cute mode and Kender flop.

"Mittens wonders if Darcy would be less inclined to cuddle if she knew of the Kender rep for 'borrowing.'"

I think I can switch to the next scene at this point.  (Great humor scene, with Darcy going gaga).  I'll be making a bit of a hex map for the next scene and start from there.

I have the Hex Map set up in the roll20 table.  the graphics I use come from a new project that I've supported through Kickstarter.  It's called Hex Kit, and although it's currently a set of hand-drawn (and very elegantly handdrawn to boot) Hex tiles to go into any graphics software of some VTT games, it's also going to become part of a Hex grid editor that its creator is going to put into Beta Testing.  I really like the tileset and will be using them more once a general (read: commercial) license is made.  This map will be expanded on as we go.

"You should see her room," Justin said as he catches up with Darcy and Chestnut.  "You'd think she's part dragon the amount of stuff she collects.  I even call it her 'hoard'."

He waits for everyone else to catch up before he shows his map.  (The party is on the green hex with the Red Token on top) "If we don't catch up with Karl on the way south, we'll stop over by Beaumount castle (The Blue hex with the sign). There's very little Belle doesn't know about these woods, so with luck she'll point us in the right direction.  Our goal is here, (The Green Hex with the Badge) where we'll do our little liberation."

I also bought "Dungeon Painter Studio" from Steam, so I'll be practicing with that here as well.  I hope to use it in my published projects once I learn the ropes.

Because it is fun, Chestnut swings his legs back and forth since he is in Darcy's arms. May as well! "I guess Darcy doesn't mind, Mittens. B'sides; I'm not most kender."

Chestnut gives James a smile and a thumbs-up to let him know he heard and is OK. "Thanks James! I think I'm good to go." He grins at Justin. "I don't mind being part of her collection as long as she doesn't mind me wandering." then looks at the map. "Sounds good. What is the road like between here and the castle?"

From his perch in Darcy's arms, Chestnut looks down towards Meiou and asks, "First Pippkin, now this castle? Just how many scary people have you met anyway?"

 James refrains from sighing with the practiced ease of someone who has had to spend an inordinate time doing that.

  "Meiou, we're going to need specifics so we know how to avoid the usual awkwardness when your past shenanigans turn up."  That and it will (slightly) lessen Mittens loudly asking Belle directly, and possibly offering to bring them together so they could talk it out.

  James laments his conscience wishing to avoid that, rather than sit back and enjoy the spectacle.

Mittens's right sock puppet points at the brown hex. "Is this where you're expecting to find Karl?"

Mittens perks up at the mention of Beaumount Castle.  "Oh hey!  I've heard of that castle!  A motte and bailey built by Roger d'Ivry in the village of Mixbury, right?  Is this 'Belle' person the current countess?  I hope she's more interesting than Lady Maltravers.  YAWN!  SNORE!"

She shrugs to Meiou.  "Suit yourself.  Or you could always just wear a disguise if you're worried about being recognized."

The left sock puppet comments to Chestnut, "The Panda is the scariest of all!

Pyrus lazily uses prestidigitation to make hobo cookies for the children who happily feast on them.

"If we don't run into him beforehand," Justin said as he hops into the driver's seat of the wagon, the others will find ample space for everyone, including Chestnut, if Darcy can keep from glomping him.  "Darcy, will you mind?  I might need to have him in a booster seat!"

Darcy just stuffed him between herself and Justin, in the front seat.

"Ready to go?"  Darcy said to the others.

"Look i've kindly been told if i'm ever caught stepping foot on that land again that I would be made into a braized rabbit. Lets just say her fiance and me don't get along and leave it at that." he said very nervously.

"I was born ready!"

Chestnut LOVES that application of prestidigitation: Sweets without any of the negative effects! Since anything made with prestidigitation vanishes after a while. No getting fat off sugar. No cavities from sugar. Etc....

He smiles at the sock puppet who is telling him of the panda and bobs his head to the silly song. He starts tapping his foot, slowly picking up the pace, pulls out his violin and begins playing!

While he plays, he gives a bright, beaming smile to each of the people traveling. He is sure to accompany the smile with some kind of flourish for each person he looks to:

Darcy: The small boy does a little slow-dance by alternating shoulder shrugs while swaying and then produces a rose for her from nowhere.
James: The kender clangs the metal of his violin a few times, making a neat little "drum solo"
Justin: Chestnut uses prestidigitation to create an image of Justin punching bandits in the face, Justin's fist being the end of the violin bow.
Meiou: He bounces a little to the rhythm before holding the violin with his shoulder and cheek to free his left hand. Then uses the free hand to fling some coins onto his violin so they will bounce over to Meiou. He knows Meiou likes coin.
Mittens: Chestnut notices his right hand is now a sock puppet version of Mittens and that the violin bow is a pretzel stick. He lets out a little boy's giggle before turning his attention to Pyrus.
Pyrus: The pretzel stick turns back into a violin bow and the sock puppet is now a sock puppet of Pyrus. Then the violin bow catches fire. He feigns worry, but by then, the song is over anyway. So he pretends to put out the fire.

  "I want to avoid having to hit political figures in the face any more than I have to, Meiou.  I know it's a bit late to do anything about your incredulously hazardous past, but pretty please try to keep from adding more problems I'll need to cause a national incident if I want to save you."

  Justin wonders how Chestnut keeps track of all the separate musical types, but then it's probably more standard than remembering the eating habits of pandas.

  "Yes Darcy, I'm ready to go do the thing I said I would do."

Mits opts for riding her horse rather than the wagon so the other horses don't get jealous that Maximus doesn't have to pull his weight.  The children are tickled pink to get a wagon ride and cheer before piling on!  Pyrus dances midair to Chestnut's music, pretending to be strumming a guitar, nodding his head, and lip-synching the non-existent lyrics.  He and Mits both laugh from Chestnut's antics.

"I'll tell them you're my retainer and had no choice but to accompany me if they see through your disguise," Mits offers to Meiou, "What's wrong with them that they don't like you?  And why is it that everyone who hates you wants to eat you?!"

"Let me guess," Justin asked to Meiou as he pulled on the reigns.  "Late Fees?  I hear they're a killer."

On the map, one round of the discussion counts as 1 hex.  A random encounter check will occur at Justin's place in the order.

" Late fees? Oh no. A rogue is never late when you can stamp and return the book at any time. Try posing as the librarian and trying to take super ultra rare books from the vault to sell at the black market and seducing said fiance into letting you when he sees the real thing and realizes hes been duped. "

Chestnut hasn't fully grasped how money works in society yet. He gets trading shiny things (and trading a specified number and color of them), but he doesn't get the idea of purposefully, knowingly selling someone else's stuff. "Why would you sell them without asking his permission if you knew they were not yours?" he asks in a genuinely confused tone. "And more importantly, what Mittens asked; why does everyone want to eat you?"

He begins carving on a block of wood from his pack.

  "Thank you for reminding me why I generally stick to more standard jobs despite the usually worse pay, Meiou." But James, now you can't put 'Sexy librarian' on your resume... But then, Meiou probably doesn't own up an write than on his too often either.

  ...Come to think of it, why do you even have a resume.  Nobody asks for one in fantasy adventure land.

"Stealing is bad," one of the orphans informs Meiou.

"Especially when you get caught," one of the older ones clarifies.

"Mits ponders the story.  Sounds true enough.  But still doesn't explain the cannibalism threats.  Must be one of those exaggerated threats.  Like a certain sock puppet insisting that she cannibalizes the homeless.  In truth, Mittens has much finer tastes."

"You're narrating out loud again," the right sock puppet tells Mittens.

Lefty elaborates on Mit' tastes.  "Pandas love rice.  And are able to spit it at super-sonic velocity with deadly precision.  They have been known to spit rice when attacking ancient temples, outhouses, and yoga studios."

Pyrus tries to pick-pocket Meiou while batting his eyes flirtatiously at the bunny and blowing him a kiss.  (( And lest there be any confusion, this Pyrus is just a hatchling dragonling about the size of a kitten.  https://assets.rbl.ms/4157483/980x.jpg ))

Justin just rolls his eyes as Darcy giggles at Mitten's antics.  "Oh!  Is that a baby dragon?"

"And he's narrating out loud," Justin adds.  "I know of some dragonjins who are like that."

He looked over to chestnut for a moment " My dear when someones announced they will pay most anything to get X item as a rogue it is our duty to seek out said items and help them find their new owners." he put it politely. When requestioned about why everyone wants to eat him he twitches abit. (sore subject :p ) "There are less sentient and anthromorphic like cousins to my race that still roam these lands. Most other races enjoy cooking and eating them as a tasty meat dish. Being a larger variety of them most races would like to cook and eat us too if not carry our feet as lucky charms." The rabbit whispered to Justin "I worry about mittens ... I once knew this hunchback who talked to these gargoyle statues as if they were real. Do you think mittens thinks their real?"

In response to why Meiou would steal, Chestnut kind of ohs. Probably gets it. Maybe. In response to why people want to eat Meiou, Chestnut says, "Well that's just mean. And stupid."

Chestnut then looks at Mittens' right sock puppet. "If I offered Mittens a high five, would that hurt your teeth?"

OOC: Fun fact that I learned from a survivalist! Rabbit is OK temporarily, but horrible for trying to live off of. They are so lean you will eventually die of poison for the lack of fat in your diet.

  He asks Justin, "Well if you know multiple dragons. Is there really ever any middle ground between dragons who love exposition, and dragons who love acting secretive for the sake of melodrama?"

  Justin would only worry about the puppet's teeth if Mittens were bad at making puppets.

"Wow!" the kids say in genuine amazement for Meiou's statement of his noble duty.

A pair of thick-rimmed glasses appear on Mittens and she takes on an affected nerdy voice while dictating, "The Pyroclastic Dragon is an elemental dragon that thrives in the calderas of active volcanoes.  It is distinct from the catastrophic Volcano Dragon, the ancient mercenaries of the planes, in that it has a different origin story and becomes a good deal more powerful at maturity.  But like the volcano dragon, they prefer to not to talk much and ally themselves with creatures of fire and chaos."

"Fire and chaos, eh?" Righty interrupts, "Sounds like someone I know."

Pyrus looks to be smiling proudly at the mention of becoming powerful while he inspects what he looted from Meiou's pockets.  He grins impishly to James and shakes his head in answer to the question.  Truth be told, Pyrus doesn't know.

Not to be out-done, Lefty boasts once again.  "Uh...  Did you know that The Panda solved the Russian Hopscotch Mystery?"

Mits smiles over at Chestnut and suggests, "Let's find out!"

And offers him a high-five with the open mouth of Righty.

Justin and Darcy just looked at each other, wondering what on earth have they gotten themselves into; Darcy then just shrugged and snuggled Pyrus some more.

Justin turned back to James.  "I met a couple sure.  Most of the ones I know are suckers for good conversation.  But then again, finding one that won't gobble you up outright is the trick."

In response to Justin's mention of not being gobbled by a dragon "That my friend is all about how you look and which gender dragon's found you. Though usually its males that horde and females that gobble. Males are suckers for princesses let me tell you " without thinking he went on tell about how Pip had him posing as some Princess while he was off romancing her and how the dragon kidnapped him instead of the actual princess. "And thats why you don't accept a dragons advances.."
