Re: Graypeak Lodge -- 1 Tarsakh 1490

Igatho sees Justin and Charlie up ahead and gives a big wave with her right hand while her left hand is being occupied with its thumb in her mouth. Justin and Charlie can see, however, that same hand that waved at them reaches to pick up something and the baby continues dragging whatever it is.

When the bunch get closer, Justin and Charlie can see a 7'6" tall baby dragging a stuffed fake orc behind her. The baby is currently only wearing a loin cloth. She is surrounded by four guards.

One of the guards introduces himself, "I'm Martin. This here is Igatho; a baby frost giant. My men and I are charged with the safety of those she comes in contact with. But my men and I are very tired... I heard you and the misses are very capable folk. I don't suppose you would mind if we left her in your care to take a day off, would you? I have a set of care instructions here..."

He offers a piece of paper to Justin. Should the guy look it over, the paper has a regiment for a day's worth of caring for the baby. It includes what all she can eat, when she needs a nap, when she needs a bath (and the fact it should have ice in it), and such like. Attached is a small list of things the baby likes.

"Please, sir... I know you have enough on your plate with what you have been doing for the town. But if we could just ask you to care for her for a day, or at least direct us to someone who could, that would be terrific."

Igatho smiles, pops her thumb out of her mouth and says with a tiny squeal to her voice, "Pandaren!" While her voice is definitely loud to match her size, it isn't deep toned and surprisingly sounds like any baby's voice would.

Re: Graypeak Lodge -- 1 Tarsakh 1490

In reply to Igatho (msg # 2):

As Justin watched this kid...this seven foot six little kid just out of the crib...shamble up the mountain like a cub in a playground, all he could do is open his mouth with no words coming out, close it, and then open it again.

He glances over at Charlie, who had the same problem.  "Could this be what you mean by 'Murphy's Law,' Justin?"

"Just when I thought I couldn't be blindsided by Murphy anymore..." Justin muttered to himself, and then walks up to the guards.  "Before I let you go to Parnast to crash, I gotta ask you:  Where did you get him?"

"And what happened to his parents?" Charlie added.

And then he winced a bit when he heard "PANDAREN!" in the loudest baby voice he ever heard.  "Oh, I'm going to get some suptle snuggling damage today, am I?"

Re: Graypeak Lodge -- 1 Tarsakh 1490

Martin answers, "Her, actually. Igatho is a girl. As for where we got her? Well.. some powerful adventurers took down a frost giant and his mate... only to find there was a baby in the other room. They weren't in the business of killing children, but without her parents to care for her, she was good as dead anyway. Unless they found someone to take care of her. So my village agreed to it, as long as she wasn't a danger. So far, so good."

Igatho takes the stuffed orc by the leg and slams it on the ground several times. "Bam!" and she begins singing a song in giantish. The lyrics translate to something about bathing in blood and rolling in bones to hear them snap.

One of the guards says, "...we don't know what she is singing when she says that, but her language tutor told us it was better we didn't."

Re: Graypeak Lodge -- 1 Tarsakh 1490

Justin just nodded when he heard that last part.  Off in the distance, he could hear a scream.

"Oh, that was my major domo, Chrys," Justin said.  "She's afraid that Igatho here will run through this place bull in china shop style.  Especially the lodge."

While he's saying that, Linka bounded her way to the scene.  "Oh, how cute.  Even if she's taller than me, I just think that babies are cute."

Justin asked Linka.  "Do you think we have the means to baby-sit her?"

Linka scratched her fuzzy head.  "I doubt we have everything we need here, but downhill in Charlie's place we're sure to have a place to keep her."

Charlie nodded, but then said, "There's bigger rooms and a lot more open space for the child. What about any food needs?"

"The Halflings're already on it," Linka said as Justin handed her the instruction slips Martain handed him.  "I'll be sure to get something in this list done.  I know they have a big bathtub," she glances over to Charlie.

"Go easy on your eldest brother," Charlie said.

"I might need to break out a spare ice dragonshard to chill the water.  There's no ice, but we can make do with an alternate."

Justin nodded and then turned back to Martain.  "We might need to jury-rig some, but I think we can watch over your charge while you rest over in town.  But I gotta ask:  What do you intend to take her?"

Re: Graypeak Lodge -- 1 Tarsakh 1490

Martin says, "Well... to be fully honest with you, I... was hoping she would become an asset. I had heard you bunch needed a little help. So I figured after a day with her, you could judge for yourselves if she is more trouble than she is worth... or if the payoff far exceeds the effort. See, she is very strong and I heard you bunch were looking for explorers. Well exploring isn't always perfectly safe, but Igatho here would be a very effective... err... deterrent... for any unsavory sorts.

"Frankly, Justin, she is a weapon. If she doesn't go smashing bad guys or angry wildlife, she will inevitably smash something else. The baby needs the outlet, but she's a baby... I'm positive she doesn't mean anything by it. But with the right hands guiding her, she will be a weapon for good instead of a hurricane for chaos."

Meanwhile, Igatho hears Linka call her cute and gives a big smile and baby squeal before opening her arms to go hug Linka. "Fluffy Pandaren! Love me!"

"A weapon?" Justin said as he looked at the baby, who was getting the traditional Pandaren greeting from Linka: That Giant-sized bear hug.  (Fortunately Pandaren are very hard to break with a hug.)  When he looked back at Justin, he was visibily angry, and his voice was measured so that he diddn't appear to be shouting.

"Frost Giant or not, tendency for violence or not, did you just claim a todder as an asset?  A flipping weapon?"

As he spat that out, he composed himself, favoring his head.  He knows that nobody's at fault for the baby giant's situation, as grating as it is.  Her parents were no doubt protecting their child from those Murder Hobos and paid the ultimate price.  Justin counted the shared concern for the baby in Martin's face as a mark to his favor, and it kept the Lord of Graypeak from throttling him.

Charlie patted Justin on the shoulder.  "I know you have things turning in your head, Justin.  Probably invent something to make the kid more managable."

"Won't take me more than a day."  Justin said, turning to his In-Law Family Member, "Do you have some space for the kid to roam around."

"There's still some open land on the outskirts of town.  And there's some reports of some Orog activity up north."  Charlie placed a hand over his fist, in a mock punch.  "Something that will keep our Ice Giant child occupied for a while."

Justin gathered the rest of the papers, and pulled out his ever-present Oil-skin notebook that he uses (Numbered #103 in a ongoing series) and started jotting notes.  He motioned the soldiers to use the Incline Rail to Parnast and looked over at the lovely sight of a big baby hugging Linka.  "So, you're gonna hang out with us for a while, eh?  We'll see if we can keep you outta trouble for a while."

Re: Graypeak Lodge -- 1 Tarsakh 1490

The baby clearly enjoys being hugged by an oversized teddy-bear. Happy child giggles ensue.

Martin looked unchanged when Justin got upset. Though with a keen eye, one might notice a slight smirk on Martin's face, as if proud of Justin for speaking up. But Martin does nod to Justin and head off.

Igatho watches Martin and the others leave and puts up a little fuss, but is assured they will return. Igatho sucks her thumb to console herself before hearing Justin address her and looks down at him, thumb still in mouth.

To answer Justin, she pops her thumb out of her mouth and with her little voice, if still large in volume, says, "I'm Igatho. I'm eight years old." she then gets a bright smile and adds, "I can speak common! Mr Tanner says I'm smart!"
