Yin
At Dawnton Yin and Yang find Diridon the Dashing has been arrested for murder and is set to be hanged in a week. He says he is innocent, well innocent of murder anyway (nudge, wink). So you investigate and determine he was setup and during the investigation you meet an inquisitor who seems to have a personal grudge against Diridon. Ekira Corum is a human female inquisitor of the church of Iomedae(LG) and claims to be a daughter of Diridon (her mom died a few years ago from an orc attack). It turns out she was being manipulated by a demon (Quasit) who has a "minion" named Dalton Krunne (a serial killer). While an injured Yin convinces Erika she is wrong, Yang dies from a burning hands from the demon. Erika kills Krunne and drives off the Quasit.
Freed from jail and cleared of the charges Diridon admits that he isn't the original Diridon the Dashing. He met the original Diridon several years ago, and took on the name to seduce women. The original Diridon hasn't used this name for years, too much "baggage". Yes, the original does reincarnate. No, this Diridon knows nothing about a curse on your mother. He does owe you and will give you a Handy Haversack, Ungent of Timelessness (to preserve a lock of Yangs hair - if you want to reincarnate/raise him) and a gem that allows you to use the Silent metamagic feat 1/day (his bards spells can't use it).
While tracking down Conan/Bobble/Makoto she ends up in a small caravan riding with a "10yr old"(human equivalent) noble halfelf girl with a "large" human female guardian(uses 2 gloves with claws and hide armor with a lion motif). She has a beautiful singing voice, keeps changing names and seems to be able to brighten your grief at least a little. She is going your direction for some reason (following a magical compass). In Laketown Yin meets her halfsister Arran Brewe, halforc (actually 1/4 orc with strong orcish heritage= 1/2orc), female, 18, cleric of pharasma, apprentice midwife. Her mother (human) has recently fallen "ill" (the same illness/curse/whatever that Conan, Yin and Bobble's mother has). Arran has met Bobble, Conan and Makoto and can tell you they went to Silverhalls. It seems the strange little girl's compass is also pointing to Silverhalls.
Conan/Bobble/Makoto
The group prepares to leave and, as the heroes who defeated 2 bandit groups, they have no problems with the merchants in town. Bobble buys a small sized +1 dagger that was made by Marek before it was enchanted by a local spellcaster.
Eventually Yin shows up in the company of the strange little halfelf girl and her guardian. After consulting a compass the girl demands that Conan give her bird back. After some tense discussion, Conan convinces her he has no idea what she is talking about. After some experimentation it is determined that the little girls compass is pointing to the wayfinder Conan carries. Bobble has heard that some wayfinders have hidden compartments, but searching the wayfinder reveals nothing. Magic must be involved.
Searching the other items from the same location (the dead body from the Inn that was killed by the mimic) you discover a hidden Bottle of Messages inside the potion of jump. Breaking the potion of jump and releasing the Bottle of Messages reveals a word, "Open" in draconic. Smuggling without the smuggler knowing how to open the wayfinder would prevent the smuggler from finding out what they are smuggling and would tend to indicate espionage as opposed to smuggling for profit.
quote:
Smuggler's Wayfinder Price 2,000 gp; Weight 1 lb.
This time-weathered wayfinder lacks any notable features. Despite its routine appearance, a smuggler’s wayfinder has an additional ability generally known only to the person using it. When a command word is spoken, the compass’s interior is replaced with a small extradimensional space that can hold up to 10 pounds of material occupying no more than 1 cubic foot of space. This material must be able to fit through the 3-inch-diameter opening in the compass’s face (such as a thin glass vial, coins, small jewelry, or a rolled-up piece of paper). While the extradimensional space is accessible, all other properties of the wayfinder cease to function, including any resonant ioun stone powers. While the extradimensional space is hidden, the smuggler’s wayfinder emits an aura of faint evocation, as a standard wayfinder.
The command word does open up a small compartment and inside are several small figurines, including a small bird. You have found her bird. The strange young girl is actually a demigoddess (Shelyn like, all about arts, beauty and music) and will reward you for helping her. She thinks Conan has a beautiful soul, and will give him cleric levels and he needs to start making pretty things. Bobble will get the power to form a catlike creature from celestial energy (summoner levels). Yin will find her brothers spirit is close at hand, sor levels. Makoto will get alchemist levels.
More to come....
