OOC
Howdy folks, so first we all need to pick unique voice colors.  When your character says something, please use it.

> I use the following conventions;
blue=npc
orange=ooc
yellow=magical treasure
Serif, Monotype, Cursive are used to indicate unusual accents or strange sounding voices.
I put spells in italic.
Louder/yelling is bold or large
whispers are small
red X's on a map character = dead
yellow stripe = down and dying

> Please don't start another private message to ask private questions, just use your characters Private Chat.  Thanks.

> I will usually use combat maps.

Re: OOC
Well, that settles my dilemma. I was torn between doing pure Bard and a Fighter/Rogue split on the non-Swashbuckler half of my gestalt.  You just settled it in favor of Fighter 4 / Rogue 3 / Whatever 1 (possibly rogue 4).

Actually, my bad. I actually can't be a fighter. Forgot about the Alternate Class rules with the various Advanced Class Guide classes.  Maybe pure Rogue then :)

Re: OOC
Nah, I'm good with skillmonkeying on the side of my swordplay.   Swashbuckler 8 || Rogue 8 offers me a lot of tricks both in and out of combat.  Bard would more directly benefit from the Charisma I'll be packing to fuel my Panache abilities, but I had intended to dex-whore anyway and rogue certainly won't complain about that :)

Re: OOC
that cool, just bear in mind Archaeologists are selfish bards, no inspire courage, but they're good with traps, so you can focus of damage

Re: OOC
I just looked over Archeologist in depth. Now that I see HOW good you are at the trap-handler role, I'm reversing my decision.  Going back to my original Plan A, which was a Bard (Arcane Duelist).   We shouldn't have much overlap, I don't think.

Re: OOC
Conceptually Bard is the better fit. It's what I originally wanted when I brainstormed the character (having been in love with melee-focused bard builds since 2nd edition).
I'm not a fan of precision damage in general and I'm already leaning heavily on it with Swashbuckler's precise strike.  the Arcane Strike feat and Arcane Duelist's ability to add Shock to weapons is far more reliable.

My primary temptation for rogue was the skill diversity, and since you're going to be potentially better at the traps, there's very few things on the rogue skill list I actually want that I can't do just as easily with the bard skill list.  So you handle "skilled and knowledgeable" aspects of bard, and I'll handle the flashy acrobatics and party face aspect :)

Re: OOC
hey, if you want to help with traps, haflings have access to a trait that grants +4 on aid another checks, and you only have to hit a DC10 ;>

Logging off for the night, but wanted to say, "Hi, I'm your shepherd, common appearing man for this journey. Expect to be part pack mule."

Mirabella, if you're going with Arcane Strike, there are a pair of magical gloves you should look up.
