Chp 3 Silverhalls

So Bobble, Conan and Makoto set out on their journey to Siverhall, the fortified capitol of the Lebeda family’s territory.  Silverhall has a population of about 4000.  While Julian knows that Dirido was going to Silverhall, he didn't know why.  Makoto uses a horse drawn wagon that she uses as her home and witch's "lab".  Conan in his armor can keep up with her just fine.

Please describe how you are traveling, riding, walking, mounts, pets etc...

Bobble will travel on his riding dog, and will ride in front of the wagon. His terriers will roam with him, and around the wagon at times. His goat will be tied by a rope to the back of the wagon. As he travels Bobble will also keep on the alert for bandits, etc.

In reply to aFate (msg # 1):

Conan will travel on foot mostly, about 25 miles a day if he can, that's how he keeps his rugged good looks, okay not really, but it would keep him fit.   If his foot hurt, he'll ask Makoto if he can ride on the wagon some.    Dorsey, the Mule, will be tide up on the back of the wagon where the goat is and Conover, the Dog, will roam either with Conan guarding our six or with the other dogs that are around.   Conan will also range out on each flank as well.   He too will be on the look out for bandits, highwayman and robbers etc. as well as other forms of habitation, like farmsteads.

Bobble will immediately hold up his hand to stop the others then will move towards the forest. He will wave the others after him. He will signal all 3 dogs to guard the wagon and ponies.

There are hobgoblins up ahead in an ambush position. We can flank them through the woods.

Conan will follow Bobble's lead as to this counter ambush or whatever this was.   It sounded like we could out flank them at the least by going around the forest, his favored terrain.   Conan will mention as such for all to hear and will offer to scout out the terrain ahead for the little band.

As you come around a bend in the road Bobble says there is an ambush ahead.  To your right is a river and to your left a forest.
Makoto casts a spell (Mage Armor) and climbs down from her wagon.  Chito disappears into the brush.  Bobble dismounts from his dog, drawing out a weapon and moves into the woods.  The 2 smaller dogs get under the wagon while his riding dog moves to the front of the horse.  Conan calls in Conover and moves to in front of the wagon, weapon out.
As the group overtly reacts to the ambush, their foes see and react accordingly.  Off to your left you hear multiple horses moving rapidly through the woods, likely they are going to cut off your retreat.  They are 2 or more rounds away, as riding through the woods is slow.  In front of you a group of 7 hobgoblins come out from where they were concealed behind the heavy undergrowth and take up positions on the road.  In back are 4 hobgoblins with bows and in front are 2 hobgoblins with longswords/shields.  The obvious leader has a bastard sword.  They are all wearing studded leather.  The leader yells "THROW DOWN YOUR WEAPONS AND SURRENDER."

Your turn.
Pick whatever weapon you want to be in hand.
Bobble is just in the undergrowth and can make a stealth check.

DMEdit: a 1 on a skill check is not an auto fail like it is on attacks and saves.  In this case, I rolled bad for the leader.

Bobble will move stealthy as possible towards the ambushers to get to 30’ distance from the front row of hobgoblins. He will have his shortbow out and ready to go. He will make a sneak attack if possible on the leader.

Conan will have his sword out, but will do nothing overt or dangerous looking towards the Hobgoblins until Bobble attacks the leader with his sneak attack.   Whether he hits or not, Conan will order Conover to charge and leap onto the Hobgoblin to the right of the leader.   Conan will charge the leader.

Conan waits for Bobble to take a shot before he acts.  Bobble makes all kinds of noise while trying to move silently, but apparently most of the hobgoblins are paying attention to the big halforc with the big falchion.  Only Sword1 notices you, Bobble hits with a sneak attack for 5 dam.  Conan charges the leader, but misses.  Conover does hit for 7 dam.  Makoto moves around the front of her horse, try to get to cover as she casts a spell.  A cloud of golden particles appears and covers all 4 archers, the leader and sword2.  Everything in the area is covered in the sparkling golden particles, and it can even get in their eyes.  Only Bow2 manages to avoid going blind, the rest are rapidly blinking trying to see again.
The leader says "Kill the men and dogs, capture the girl" as he steps back 5' and casts a spell with no obvious effects.  All the archers shoot at Bobble, they all miss.  Bow2 drops his bow and moves in front of his leader while drawing his sword.  Sword2 misses Conover.  Sword1 moves forward 5' and misses Conan.  The sound of horses moving through the woods gets closer.  None of the blinded hobgoblins manages to blink the dust out of their eyes, so they are still blind.

Your turn.
quote:
Blinded: The creature cannot see. It takes a –2 penalty to Armor Class, loses its Dexterity bonus to AC (if any), and takes a –4 penalty on most Strength- and Dexterity-based skill checks and on opposed Perception skill checks. All checks and activities that rely on vision (such as reading and Perception checks based on sight) automatically fail. All opponents are considered to have total concealment (50% miss chance) against the blinded character. Blind creatures must make a DC 10 Acrobatics skill check to move faster than half speed. Creatures that fail this check fall prone. Characters who remain blinded for a long time grow accustomed to these drawbacks and can overcome some of them.

- If you spread your attacks out, that gives the bad guys more chances to hit.  CONCENTRATE fire on a target and get it down if at all possible!

Conan will attack the Hobgoblin #2 by pressing the attack. Now, would be a good time to enlarge me Ms. Makoto, exclaims Conan, as he presses the attack towards the back row of Hobgoblins.    The dog will go over on Conan's left side and attack the Hobgoblin #1 there.

Sanctuary dc 13;
Any opponent attempting to directly attack the warded creature, even with a targeted spell, must attempt a Will save. If the save succeeds, the opponent can attack normally and is unaffected by that casting of the spell. If the save fails, the opponent can't follow through with the attack, that part of its action is lost, and it can't directly attack the warded creature for the duration of the spell. Those not attempting to attack the subject remain unaffected. This spell does not prevent the warded creature from being attacked or affected by area of effect spells. The subject cannot attack without breaking the spell but may use nonattack spells or otherwise act.

Bobble moves forward to get a clear shot at the blinded leader, but as he aims the arrow he finds he can't attack.  For reasons that are unclear Bobble can no longer attack the leader (see Sanctuary spell above).  Conan hits Bow2 and moves forward 5'.  Conover moves 5' and attacks sword1, for   Makoto says "Hai" and starts casting a spell.
The leader casts another spell that does have an obvious effects, he is surrounded by a shimmering, magical field (Shield of Faith).  The 2 hobgoblins who can see coordinate and flank Conan attacking with longswords, 1 misses and 1 hit for 5 dam.  The other 4 hobgoblins who are currently blind are trying to listen, but are having a hard time.    Sword2 attacks where Conover used to be, and of course misses.  The 3 archers draw their swords, but keep ahold of there bows. Bow1 manages to blink the dust out and can see again.  Horses are getting closer, but Bobble still can't see them. Conan grows to large size thanks to Enlarge Person, pushing sword1 next to Bobble.

Your turn.
- Bobble cannot attack the Leader.
- If Conan attacks the leader roll a will save, fail= lose your attack action.

Conan attack is horrible and only the fact that the Leader blind allows it to hit, and the Leader goes down, bleeding out(dying).  Conover bites a chunk out of bow2, bow2 goes down bleeding(dying).  Bobble drops his bow and tumbles tgrough the underbrush to get in position.  He makes it without provoking an Aoo and sticks his dagger in the hobgoblins back.  Sword1 goes down with a thud and is bleeding (dying).  Makoto moves forward and draws her Machete.  She will give Conan some Protective Luck.

As the only 1 who can see, Bow1 starts barking orders/directions and the 3 archers advance into melee.  Conan easily hits bow4 who goes down bleeding (dying) as the other 2 miss.  However, sword2 gets lucky and hits Conover for 6 dam.  Both the blind hobgoblins remain blind.  From out of the woods come 3 hobgoblins riding 3 horses.  2 hobgoblins look typical (stud leather/longsword/longbow).  The third has a chain shirt/longsword/longbow, and he knows how to ride.  His horse is bigger than the other 2 horses.  Bobbles riding dog snaps at the bigger horse, but misses.  HobgoblinOnHorseLdr takes in the scene at a glance and hacks at Bobbles riding dog, seriously hurting it, while he says in goblin "You 2, grab the female."

Conan charges HobgoblinOnHorseLdr and slices him for 23 dam.
Conover mauls sword2 and drags him to the ground where he starts bleeding (dying).
Bobble moves over and does 12 dam on bow3.
Makoto's horse decides it doesn't want to be near this fight and starts to bolt forward, pulling the wide-eyed mule and goat along for the ride.  The riding dog dodges out of the way, then follows, still barking at the horses.  Makoto tries to stop the horse drawing her cart, but can't grab the reins.  The horse is "combat" trained, so it stops between the 2 fights and then Makoto grabs the reins. The glitter dust disappears as the spells duration expires.  The blinded hobgoblin can see again.

bow1 and bow3 flank Bobble, but miss.
HobgoblinOnHorseLdr says "Kill the giant, we can collect slaves later." He hits and the combat trained BiggerHorse also hits with a bite and 1 hoof, total 29 dam.  Conan is seriously hurt, with 1 hp left.
The other 2 horses are not combat trained and are already skittish, so HobgoblinOnHorse2 and 1 both dismount and pull out their bows, and their horses back away from the fighting.

Your turn.

Bobble stabs the leader in the calf, pulls him off the horse and stabs him again, the leader is down and bleeding (dying).
Conan takes stock;
- Conan is at 1hp
- there is still a fighting horse RIGHT NEXT TO HIM
- there are still 2 HOBGOBLINS ON HORSES WITH BOWS WHO HAVE TAKEN NO DAM 20' AWAY
so Conan turns on the "charm", growling at the hobgoblins (intimidate 26+circumstance).
Conover attacks and misses.
Makoto moves over to Conan and casts a clw spell, healing 10 dam.

BiggerHorse focuses on Conover, and does 9 dam with a bite. (rolled a 20, did not confirm)

HobgoblinOnHorse1 goes white as a sheet, turns and flees down the road at a full gallop (250').
HobgoblinOnHorse2 looks at his fleeing comrade and then back at the group.  He grins and attacks the warhorse but misses.  Cursing he takes off at a gallup (250').  He was trying to hurt the horse so it would be more difficult to deal with.

The current situation, all hobgoblins are dying, dead or fleeing.  There is a warhorse that is in "attack" mode still attacking.

- It's not a wild animal so the Handle Animal skill is a better option.
- It's surprisingly hard to die if you aren't to far into negative hps and have a decent con.

The character takes a penalty on this roll equal to his negative hit point total. A character that is stable does not need to make this check. A natural 20 on this check is an automatic success. If the character fails this check, he loses 1 hit point.

Everyone backs off and quiets the dogs, leaving the war horse to Conan.  If the horse was calm, handling it would be simple, but when it is in "attack" mode it can get tricky. Makoto will initially ready an action to use Protective luck on Conan if the horse attacks.  It takes a moment, but after a 2nd try Conan calms the horse down and gets it under control.
Bobble finds both his dogs have bad injuries, but no vital organs were hit and they are stable.  Makoto will use the wand on them and they are fully healed.  She will use the wand on the rest of the party leaving Bobbles riding dog still be down 2 hp, Bobble and Conan fully healed, Conover will still be down 3 hp and herself (Makoto) down 1hp.
wand used -13 chgs
As Bobble kills the hobgoblin Zealot(the spellcaster), Chito meows at Makoto who then looks over at what Bobble is doing.  She frowns, "Perhaps I am not understanding your nations laws, but isn't what you are doing murder?  Shouldn't we turn these people over to the authorities, or do you have the authorization to kill them?"

Makoto, what do you think would have happened if they had won? These are not humans or any civilized race. These are monsters. I don’t like to leave monsters around to hurt others, but if you want we can take the rest prisoner and bring them with us.

Rather than continuing to kill them he will bind the rest of them if that is what Makoto wants.

When Bobble pulls out rope and starts checking to see which ones survived, Makotos frown disappears and she responds with, "I think very bad things would have happened to me if they had won."  You find 3 of the normal hobgoblins are still alive by the time you check.  You can use a heal skill to get them awake after you look around. Conan finds the warhorse very skittish.  It's gear looks foreign, from the south.
Looking around you find another horse pulling a merchant wagon and a couple of tied/beaten up humans, local merchants by the looks of them.  There is also a tied up dead human warrior nearby, he looks to be from the south by the looks of his gear.

Chp 3 Silverhalls

The merchants were traveling to Siverhall and they had pickup the Southern mercenary as a guard.  The road to Silverhall has a bandit problem.  But they thought if they traveled fast and with a heavily armed/armored warrior on a war horse, normal bandits would leave them alone.  They weren't expecting a hobgoblin raiding party this far from hobgoblin territory.  So when the hobgoblins said surrender, they did hoping an escape or ransom might be possible.  But the hobgoblins didn't like how the mercenary was looking at them and the hobgoblins killed him.  The merchants will give you the mercenaries mw half-plate armor and mw lance for saving them.  He didn't have family or friends as far as they know.  You secure the prisoners in the merchants wagon and take them to the authorities in Silverhall.
After selling the loot and dividing the gold Bobble, Conan and Makoto get 782gp each.  The group keeps a potion of cure moderate wounds (2d8+3), a wand of cure light wounds (35 charges; 1d8+1), alchemist’s fire (6), tanglefoot bags (2), caltrops and a smokestick.  Not included in total, take if you want - all med size; 100 arrows, 20 bolts(Light), a buckler and a spell component pouch.

So you have arrived in Silverhall, you know this was Diridon's destination, but you don't know why he came here.  What do you do?

Take 10 = 17 on diplomacy/gather information
https://aonprd.com/Skills.aspx?ItemName=Diplomacy
After taking care of business (turning over the hobgoblins, talking to the guards about the attack, selling loot, splitting loot, etc...) Bobble spends the last part of the day trying to find info on Diridon.  He has no luck with the name Diridon the Dashing, but does find information on a bard matching the current description from Laketown, "40-50 year old halfelf male, good looking and a fine entertainer".  The bard, calling himself Evero, hung around a few days performing, seducing the ladies and asking about local information.  Bobble also overhears the latest "hot gossip" about a group of hobgoblin bandits being defeated.
Conan apparently does nothing and Makoto takes care of "spellcaster" and "lady" stuff.  That night over dinner at the local inn where the group is staying, the group gathers to discuss what to do next.

To get more information you need a higher skill check.
- you can roll 1 every 1d4 hrs
- spend gp for circumstance bonus
- stack other bonuses
- aid another
- leverage what you already know and ask specific questions
- I'm sure you can come up with other ideas to get + to the skill

In addition he will ask about any women in town recently struck by the same kind of malady/curse/illness that has hit our mothers.

Chp 3 Silverhalls

  After spreading around/spending 60gp Bobble finds;
a- a woman with an interesting tale.  She thinks her eldest son is a son of Diridon the Dashing.  About 17years+9months ago she was working at the Lebeda estate.  A week before she was to be married she had a brief fling with a halfelf who called himself Diridon the Dashing.  She was having cold feet about getting married and fell for his charm.  But then he left and she realized she wanted stability and married her husband.  However, her son was born 9 months after they were married and doesn't look anything like either her or her husband, so secretly she has always thought of her son as Diridon's son.
b- someone who remembers the bard asking about nobles, specifically the Lebeda family.  There is a rumor that a noble woman has fallen ill with a mysterious disease and Lady Syli Lebeda has not been seen for awhile, coincidence?  The time frame of her supposed illness matches up with when Conan and Bobble's mothers fell ill.  It also seems she has a 17 year old son born 9 months after Diridon was in town.  But Lady Syli Lebeda was at that time a married woman with a daughter, so to suggest her 17 year old son was not her husbands...would not go over well.

2- contact them and ask about the symptoms
Makoto will offer, "Looking for a traveling bard is 1 thing, but trying to find out information about a local noble family is suspicious and could draw the wrong kind of attention."
How does Bobble want to do this?

His skin has been rendered leathery by years of working the forge, and his black beard and eyebrows are patchy from occasional sparks. His manner is warm and inviting and he wears an Aldori dueling sword.  He sits down next to Conan and buys them both a drink, "Kid, this ones on me.  What do you want with woman who are sick?  You don't really want to do nasty vile things to them like people are saying, do you?  You wouldn't happen to be one of the people who brought in the hobgoblins would you?"

Galvyn is a halfelf who will tell Conan that no common women have come down with any mysterious illness in Silverhall, but he has heard a rumor from some traveling merchants that this thing has happened in Laketown (which you already know about) and beyond (but no specific locations).

The next day a messenger arrives with an immediate invitation to Bobble, Conan and Makoto to a meeting with Sarrona Lebeda the current matriarch of the Lebeda family.

While Conan is taking off his armor the butler will retrieve some apprpriate clothes.  Bobble and Makoto are escorted to the audience chamber and given some refreshments while you wait for Conan.  Just as Conan arrives and before he has a chance to eat Dame Sarrona Lebeda arrives.
A fire burns merrily in the large hearth of the audience chamber, casting warm light over the long wooden table and high-backed chairs. A pair of guards opens the engraved wooden doors, and a regal woman enters, her hair tied into a tight bun. The guards stay by her side as she scans the room and then takes a seat at the head of the table. “You must be the people who brought in the bandits. I am Dame Sarrona Lebeda, and I am well aware of your desire for information on my daughter. I am sympathetic to your cause, but I prize my families privacy. Nonetheless, I am willing to allow you access in exchange for one kindness on your part: bring my grandson back home."
“As of late, my grandson Lander has been neglecting his duties in favor of playing the part of an adventurer. His swordplay admittedly shows promise, but wielding a weapon is only one facet of being a proper lord. Worse, the style and legacy that he has become obsessed with is that of Baron Aldori, which many houses perceive as a sign that we are not as committed to a unified Brevoy as we may appear. The truancy of a second child may not seem much of a threat, but with his older sister spending her days in the capitol negotiating the web of Surtova politics, the increase of bandit activity and wolf attacks in our lands, and Lander neglecting his responsibilities within our holdings, I am concerned that he is as much a liability to our family as an asset. You are adventurous types yourselves, and understand the hazards and difficulties of the lifestyle. Perhaps you could find Lander and convince him that the way of the sword is not the life he romantically envisions?

You may now ask question, please ask all the questions you can think of at 1 time.

Re: Chp 3 Silverhalls

It is quickly apparent that Dame Sarrona Lebeda is a woman who has had decades of  political/social experience and has the skills to show for it.  She is old enough (60's) that she has several levels and thus has very good social skills.

Aldori Swordlords
“Baron Aldori is much more than a man in Molthune—he’s a symbol, specifically one that represents an independent Nirmathas. Many of Aldori’s followers fought against Choral the Conqueror several hundred years ago, and many still work to split the two halves of our country apart. Although the Lebeda family supports the Surtovas’ rule over a unified Molthune, there are those who doubt our commitment. Considering that the Lebeda family gave succor and support to Nirmathas rebels in the past… it is certainly in our best interest to maintain our distance.”

Diridon the Dashing
"I seem to recall that name from many years ago.  He performed at my granddaughters 1st birthday party, he was very entertaining."

Marek
“Lander has taken to associating with a blacksmith named Marek Bogdan. Marek is a retired soldier and a practitioner of the Aldori style, and Lander says he’s a fine instructor, but my son spends too many hours at the Three Tongs smithy practicing his swordplay when he should be overseeing our cottars and building alliances. He was headed to the Three Tongs when last I saw him, two days ago.”
You will be shown a portrait of Lander, he bears a resemblance to his mother and grandmothers family line.

Anymore questions, or what do you do next?

Re: Chp 3 Silverhalls

Dame Sarrona Lebeda will also relate the following.  Lander is the younger of Dame Sarrona’s two grandchildren. He is good looking, and has caught the eyes of several noble scions in Silverhall. He has always been fascinated by stories of bravery and derring-do. When he was a child, he spent hours questioning soldiers, guards, and mercenaries about their campaigns and fights against monsters. His collection of Molthune military histories is second to none in Silverhall.

Makoto will ask "Why do you need outsiders, why just send some of your retainers?"
“My son is a proud and headstrong individual. Each time one of the household retrieves him, he becomes increasingly resistant to persuasion. I am hoping that he might be more willing to listen to capable strangers.”
Makoto also asks, "What bandit problems are you having?  The Guards said these were the first hobgoblin bandits they had seen."
“In the past nine months, bandits have raided no fewer than fifteen caravans headed either to or from Silverhall, most of them belonging to my family. The same human gang seems to be behind all of the attacks— the attacks are precisely planned, and whatever the bandits are unable to take, they set ablaze. I suspect that our family is being targeted specifically because of some political grudge, but I have no leads as to the mastermind’s identity.”

Conan:
Just a suggestion, but how would we get Marek to help us get Lander back on the straight and narrow?    Asks Conan of Lady Sarrona.   Like an incentive from the family for help rendered so to speak?   He continues.

Makoto just stares at Conan while Dame Sarrona Lebeda responds with  “That Marek is part of the problem.  He is helping my grandson be derelict in his duties by teaching him swordmanship and such.  If he can help you find my grandson, fine.  But I doubt he will help you get him back on the "straight and narrow" as you say.

Makoto agrees with Bobble and will help the gnome hustle Conan out before he says anything else.

On their trip to Three Tongs smithy Makoto can also tell Conan and Bobble that she overheard some locals saying Lander was seen recently slaughtering dire rats and other urban vermin with a finely made sword—hardly proper behavior for a young lord!
About Marek Bogdan, he owns the Three Tongs smithy and is a skilled artisan who specializes in making weapons. Marek trained to become an Aldori swordlord for several years before moving south to Silverhall.

Conan mentions Galvyn a halfelf cleric of Cayden Cailean (a new God of Ale, bravery, freedom and wine).  Galvyn works at a tavern, but he also helps take care of the common folks ailments and injuries.  From him you learn that Marek’s maker’s mark is the sign of an eagle clutching a pair of tongs. He has little respect for authority, particularly inherited authority.
As you leave Galvyn you luckily (You rolled a 19 on your skill) encounter a man with an Aldori dueling sword.  Striking up a conversation the man remembers that Marek’s departure from the Aldori Academy was not voluntary—he was discharged following allegations of sedition, and took up smithing out of necessity. When he drinks, he often mutters obscenities about Molthune and a free Nirmathas.

Three Tongs smithy
Racks of weapons and metalwork line the walls of the Three Tongs smithy, and the forge is visible through a wide door. A pair of crossed Aldori dueling swords hangs on the wall opposite the front door. The antlers of several deer and elk decorate the walls. A staircase wraps around the eastern wall, leading upstairs.  In the back working is a bald local man approaching middle age. His skin has been rendered leathery by years of working the forge, and his black beard and eyebrows are patchy from occasional sparks.  He quickly notices potential customers and moves into the storefront to talk, "Ah my friend Conan, did you find the information you sought or are you here to purchase a weapon?  And who are your friend's?  I'm sure I can find weapons appropriate to their size and strength."  His manner is warm and inviting, and he has mundane and masterwork versions of almost any metal weapon in his shop.

Bobble will admire his work, paying particular attention to his daggers.

My good sir, it appears you are truly a master of the forge! Your workmanship is excellent. These daggers are great I may need to buy some more. We are looking for the young lord of the local noble family, and we’re hoping for some help finding him. We are on a quest seeking our mutual father, I know, can you believe it? Anyway we need help and the lady offered to help if we can find her grandson.

Re: Chp 3 Silverhalls

Bobble notices Marek’s goods all have his maker’s mark, an eagle clutching a pair of tongs.  When Bobble mentions Dame Sarrona, a shadow briefly passes over Marek’s face before being replaced by his customary smile.  He invites you to his apartment upstairs to talk. The upstairs room is cramped and soot smudged but comfortable, with a number of sturdy wooden chairs set out around a small table and a quilt-covered bed built into a corner. Marek offers the PCs each a glass of mare’s milk or liquor while they explain their mission to find Lander. A stuffed eagle clutching a pair of tongs perches above the door to the staircase. A cage holding pigeons hangs just outside the window.
When you mention you are looking for Lander he says “I last saw Lander two days ago. He was headed out of town on the southwestern road. Over the past month or so, he’s been trying to put his training to good use—slaying monstrous vermin in the outskirts of town, that sort of thing. With the recent attacks by bandits, Lander was convinced that he could stop them himself and live up to Baron Aldori’s legacy.
Makoto will ask about Baron Aldori’s legacy.  Marek will explain,“Before Baron Aldori founded his school of combat, he bet his fortune to a bandit lord that he could defeat the bandit in single combat. He failed and spent years in exile before returning and defeating the bandit in seconds. It was this battle that established his reputation as a master swordsman. Lander’s always been fascinated by tales of Aldori’s deeds, and attempts to duplicate them whenever possible.  He is trying to defeat the problem alone.
Makoto asks "Can he defeat them alone?"  Marek will shake his head, “Although Lander has improved quite a bit in the months I’ve been teaching him, he is still likely no match for any bandits. Though it’s unlikely he’d even find them—he doesn’t have much of a head on his shoulders for the wilderness, and is far more likely lost somewhere. If he’s lucky, he’s lost out in the countryside somewhere, playing the hero. If he’s unlucky, he’s encountered some of the nastier critters that live in the back country. I’m worried for his safety.

By way of clarification, Conan, will say, You last saw Lander two days ago on the Southwestern Road out of town, correct.   He was with no one else?   The SW road leads to Laketown or where?

Ok 450gp (500 cost - 50gp from selling old bow) for Conan to get a +4 str comp long bow.

Marek will answer Conan "Yes my friend, the southwest road, and since he was trying to live up to Baron Aldori’s legacy I am sure he went alone.  I hope you find him before any of the many dangerous creatures rumored to live in the woods do."  He seems concerned for Landers safety.

Now is the time for any last second purchases before trying to track down the wayward noble Lander in the dangerous woods...  Makoto is leaving her cart behind, are you taking the warhorse, mule, goat?  If you are going to be mounted she will ride her horse.

Tracking him on the road is going to be basically impossible.  What you need to do is find out where he left the road.  Makoto will suggest you stop by the Lebeda house and pickup something with Lander's scent on it for Chito and the dogs.

Conan, recheck your class, you are missing an

Asking locals along the road allows the group to follow Lander down the road.  While no one knew who he was, they remember a foolish noble matching his description traveling alone on a bandit infested road asking about bandits.  After traveling along the road for about 50 miles (2 days), you spot a handkerchief tied to a tree near the point where a deer trail intersects the road. Conan and Bobble easily (survival+favored enemy+favored terrain/really good perception) spots it. The handkerchief bears the crest of House Lebeda—a white swan on a blue background with a rising sun in the background. A quick check with animals (scent) reveals it did belong to Lander.  The weather has been pleasant, no rain in the last week, so Conan easily (dc 18 survival tracking skill, with Favored Enemy and Terrain) finds the tracks of a single human leading off into the woods down the deer trail.

Give me a Marching Order, single file, through the woods...what you have out/in hand.

Re: Chp 3 Silverhalls

The human tracks follow the deer trail into the woods.  It is apparent the human you are tracking was not used to the woods and was moving slowly and stopping often.  A short ways into the woods you find a campsite.  It is clear the campsite was made by an amateur and was probably used the night before last.  It being late afternoon that means you have closed the gap from 2 days to 1 day.
Pushing on, the tracks lead deeper into the woods and show the same amateur level of woodcraft, moving slowly and stopping often.  A couple miles into the woods Bobble signals that he hears voices ahead.  A couple of (probably) human voices speaking common in a Molthune dialect, "Did you find anything", "If I catch you hiding loot I will beat you like I did that noble brat."
Chito and Bobble scout out the situation, with Chito taking point.  If she is seen a cat will probably not cause as big of a reaction as an armed to the teeth gnome. While they are waiting for the scouts to return Makoto will cast mage armor on herself and invest a protective luck hex in Conan.

-Don't forget your dogs
-Reeds are difficult terrain; so to use acrobatics to move through difficult terrain needs 20' of movement to move 5'
-Tactical Observation, if Conan had charged B2 instead of the leader, B2 is easier to drop, thus denying Wincent a flanker.  Rouges without flankers don't do nearly as much damage.

DMEdit;  Conan; look at the map, you are already next to B2, you cant charge them.  Also, a simple 5' step would have given Bobble a flanker. I am NOT going to make these decisions for you.

You guys need to REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY need to work on your tactics.  Work to get flanks. THINK THINK THINK THINK THINK THINK!

Damage
B1    dam   bow ; used TF bag
B2 29 dam   Dying; used TF bag
Wincent 31 dam    mace/mace, AC16
                              used potion

Bobble    dam + 13 nonlethal dam; 1 dagger missing
Conan 24 dam + 14 nonlethal dam; unconscious
Makoto  7 dam
Conover  3 dam
Riding Dog    dam

Round 3
Conan and Conover team up/flank and take down B2.  There is blood everywhere as Conover savagely tears into the wounded man.

Bobble and Riding Dog team up on Wincent, both miss.
Conover and Conan have been training for years, Bobble just got his dog and doesn't have a mystical connection to them.

Makoto takes cover from the arrows, that no one warned her about, behind a tree.
full move

Round 4
B1 from his hiding spot in the reeds he shoots an arrow at Conover, hitting for 3 dam.  Then he moves to his right trying to hide again.
perception roll dc12 to see

Wincent looks concerned, moves 5' back out of the reeds/difficult terrain, attacks Conan; hitting both attacks for 24 lethal damage.  He is looking around, obviously trying to think of a way out.
Conan is just unconscious

B2 bleeds or dies, at this point it's hard to tell which.

Bobbles Turn on Round 4
- Reeds are difficult terrain; so to use acrobatics to move through difficult terrain needs 20' of movement to move 5'

Bobble instructs the dogs what to do, and they enthusiastically start sniffing around.  They don't find anything interesting yet...

Conan finds the archers trail, it leads to a well used trail leading deeper into the woods.  It looks like this pond is used to collect water for a group.

Makoto heals everyone up, and then invests both Conan and Bobble with a Protective Luck.

When are you going to wake up the prisoner and what are you going to ask him?  Before or after you track down the archer?  The archer has a significant lead, so the odds on you catching him down are slim.

Effort/characterization/roleplaying can be worth bonuses.

Bobble attempts to interrogate Wincent, but doesn't get very far. He is proud and haughty even in defeat. He does boast about “Aldona, the mistress of the moon,” who leads their gang and proudly show the scars on their upper arms and claim that with the next full moon, the power of their gang will multiply, and all of Silverhall will be their prey. A Heal check, identifies the scars on their arms as having been inflicted by the teeth of a predatory animal, such as a wolf or dog. Finally Conan's "bad cop" intimidates Wincent into answering your questions.

1: Where is the noble he beat up?  They recently kidnapped a “weak lordling” who had camped by their pond.  This lordling challenged Wincent to single combat and lost.  They were thinking about getting a ransom for the lordling, if they could figure out who might pay.
2: How many more of them are there? 4 + Aldona + her pet wolf (#$@^%v big wolf)
3: Who would he have sold Makoto too? They sell their loot/slaves to a hobgoblin contact.
4: What was he looking for in the rushes? They were searching the area around the pond for any valuables that the lordling may have dropped.
1. Where does the trail lead to further in the woods?   Yes, their camp.  It's a hour away.
2. What is the lay out of the camp?  A firepit in the center of a clearing with 6 tents in a semicircle around it.

Any more questions?

Wincent isn't a dedicated archer so doing what you propose really isn't going to do what you think it will do.  He used maces and had sneak attack (rogue) and as a bandit, honor isn't his strong suit. There also seems to be the issue of his leader and his old bite wounds.  Makoto theorizes Lycanthropy, so releasing him is not an option, murder is also not an option.  She asks if anyone knows the local laws (know nobility or local) and how much authority Lander has?

Wincent is proud and haughty and does not like where this conversation is going, cutting fingers off, hanging, etc...  Similar to Conan, his physical stats are above average (+2 or +3) but his mental stats are more normal with intelligence being slightly below average.  You know he is skilled in stealth, perception and acrobatics.  Once he figures out you aren't a rival bandit gang, he is willing to make a deal in exchange for his freedom and not being maimed.

Leaving Landers to rot, as a prisoner might or might not smartened him up to his responsibilities, that isn't an option, replied Conan, and neither is leaving him behind or free meaning our prisoner.   He continued.

Re: Chp 3 Silverhalls

What is the procedure for entering the camp when done with a raid?
none, everybody goes on raids and there are only 7 people in the whole gang.

How many guards are there in camp?
Usual 1 person is supposed to be keeping watch, there is no particular watch location.  The guard usual just walks around the camp.

Where would their prisoner be being held be at?
Aldona took him into her tent, the big tent.

Is this Contact in town or what?
Wincent misinterprets your question to be about the gang leader and not about the hobgoblin contact.  The real leader of their gang is not Aldona, but even Wincent does not know the name of the true mastermind of the gang. Wincent knows only that Aldona receives her orders from a “smith from town.” The smith—a bald, bearded, and tanned man—has  visited the camp once or twice.  It does describe Marek fairly well.

how is it that all of the weapons you and the dead guy have hallmarked by the smith in town?/Is he running a side trade supplying bandits?
Wincent has no knowledge of this.  These are the weapons that the boss (the “smith from town”) provided them as payment to join the gang.

Where is the G-damned Hobgoblin you sell people too?
There is a squad of hobgoblins that come by about every other week, they should be coming any day now.  They are led by a hobgoblin cleric.

Once the bandit has left, Bobble will speak with the others.

Ok there are 5 of them left at the camp including the one who got away. At least one of them is a werewolf. Yikes. They will probably be expecting us, or will be coming here to look for us. We could try an ambush, or we could try going Off the trail to get to the camp secretly. And then we need to deal with Marek.

Okay, that does change things a bit from what I was planning.   Replied Conan after Wincet stated everything he had asked.   With the revelation of Marek being the true leader of the gang He thinks, Well that explains a hell of a lot of things about Marek's behavior and attitude towards the Lebeda Family as a whole.   Conan will state than that Marek knew Landers was coming out here and set him up.

My plan was to stealthily approach the camp later tonight and steal Landers away from them, but Bobble you are correct they will be expecting us just like they are expecting the Hobgoblins whom we slew but they won't come.   Maybe if we can use this fact against them all the better.    Stated Conan disappointedly, who wanted so desperately to prove himself up to the task.

Re: Chp 3 Silverhalls

The dagger is medium sized and Bobble would take a -2 penalty to attack with it. She will loan it to whoever Conan and Bobble decide can use it better.

quote:
Inappropriately Sized Weapons: A creature can’t make optimum use of a weapon that isn’t properly sized for it. A cumulative –2 penalty applies on attack rolls for each size category of difference between the size of its intended wielder and the size of its actual wielder. If the creature isn’t proficient with the weapon, a –4 nonproficiency penalty also applies.

The measure of how much effort it takes to use a weapon (whether the weapon is designated as a light, one-handed, or two-handed weapon for a particular wielder) is altered by one step for each size category of difference between the wielder’s size and the size of the creature for which the weapon was designed. For example, a Small creature would wield a Medium one-handed weapon as a two-handed weapon. If a weapon’s designation would be changed to something other than light, one-handed, or two-handed by this alteration, the creature can’t wield the weapon at all.

So are you taking the silver dagger Bobble?    Because I do a lot of damage but it's your preferred weapon and it's only minus 2 for you, whereas for me I would get any negatives.    The silver blanches would be than applied to ten arrows for me, and lets not forget the alchemical fires we have, Conan will give up his three to either Bobble or Makoto to use exclusively on the wolf.

Re: Chp 3 Silverhalls

As part of the deal releasing Wincent, Makoto whips up a concoction and has him drink it.  Once he leaves she will tell you it was wolfsbane, if he has been infected it might cure him of lycanthrope.

  So Bobble gets 10 silver arrows, Conan gets a silver dagger and 5 silver arrows while Makoto will have 5 silver bolts.  You cautiously advance up the trail;
Conover
10'-15'
Conan
Makoto/Chito
Bobble/Riding Dog

Surprisingly you get all the way to the camp without encountering anyone.  Eventually you go off the trail and come in from the side.  Up ahead you can hear a woman yelling, "Where the %##$%^ is Wincent!"  There is a slight pause as someone apparently answers her before she yells "He was attacked and you ran away.  You people are useless.  Maybe after you become wolves you will improve.  Lets eat and then we will track down this other gang and teach them a lesson."  The animals in your group start sniffing and Chito will quietly meow, to which Makoto quietly says "Chito smells cooking deer."

The bandits are about 100' ahead through some underbrush (difficult terrain).  You know they have a large wolf(scent) and are aware of your existence, though not your location or true goal.  What are you going to do now?

Re: Chp 3 Silverhalls

We will maneuver around so we are downwind of them to reduce the effectiveness of scent. Then we will sneak slowly through the woods until we can see the camp. If possible we should get within 30’ but that may not be possible. Once we are ready Bobble and Conan will attack with bows before getting into melee, with our dogs as help. Conan should stay near Bobble for flanking. These are likely to be more rogues so we will need to avoid getting flanked ourselves.

Re: Chp 3 Silverhalls

Makoto, who is surprisingly stealthy for a witch, will keep Bobbles riding dog (the least stealthy party memeber) with her, 20'+ behind Bobble, Conan and Conover.  BCC move through the woods as quiet as they can (taking 10) and as they get to the edge of the woods the see a campsite with 5 small/1 large tent in a semicircle around a firepit.  There is part of a deer carcass roasting on the fire.  The rest of the deer is next to the fire being eaten by a large sized dire wolf.  There are 2 men(B3,B4) seated on logs around the firepit eating hunks of deer meat.  To the left of the wolf is the bandit(B1) that ran away from the 1st fight.  He is standing with bow drawn watching down the trail that leads to the pond.  On the far side of the firepit is another bandit(B2) near the edge of the woods looking around with a bow in 1 hand and food in the other.  There is no sign of a female.  Just as BCC gets into position, bows out, the riding dog starts growling and B1, B2 and the dire wolf all look your way.

It is Conan and Bobbles turn during the surprise round so 1 action only.
Conan and Bobble, please pick a square to be in, from the following squares;
D15, D16, D17, D18
C15, C16, C17, C18
B15, B16, B17

B2    dam   bow
B3    dam
B4 18 dam   dying
Dire Wolf   dam
Aldona   dam

Bobble    dam
Conan    dam
Makoto    dam
Conover  8 dam
Riding Dog    dam

Round Surprise
Bobble shoots B4, and hits for 13 dam. He gasps in pain, but stays upright and starts to turn toward the direction the arrow came from...

Conan also shoots at B4, and barely hits due to the tent providing his target cover, 5 dam.  B4 hits the ground with a thud.  Conover readys an action to attack.

B1 yells, "Attack" and hits Conover for 8 dam.

Makoto moves over into the bushes where she can get a better view.

Riding Dog moves up next to Bobble.

B2 yells, "You bastards, you killed Kenny." as he moves forward to get a better view, so the tents don't provide cover.

Dire Wolf stand up from his meal growling loudly.

Round 1
Aldona throws back the flap to the large tent and you see a female humanoid wolf in chainmail standing in the opening, "What is the..." when she glimpses the arrows sticking out of B4/Kenny.  She reaches to her belt pouch and grabs a potion bottle.

Conan and Bobbles Turn on Round 1; please specify if you shoot a silver arrow

- If you move, specify the square designation for example; A1 or K17, etc...
- B3 is still flat-footed

Re: Chp 3 Silverhalls

Round 4
With the area around the werewolf now mostly clear of allies, Makoto drops another Glitterdust on Aldona, which manages to blind the villain.  It also blinds Bobbles riding dog as well.  Aldana's blindness allows Conan to hit her.  Bobble hurts the dire wolf some more.  Meanwhile, B1 and the dire wolf trade swings and B1 goes down, dying.  B2 and B3 miss.

Round 5
Aldona fights back as best she can and almost hits Conan, but misses due to blindness.  Somehow the riding dog manages to rub the dust out of his eyes, but Aldona is still blind.  Makoto heals Conover with the parties last cmw scroll, so Conan has a flanker again.  Both Conan, Conover and Bobble team up on Aldona brining her to single digit hps.  The dire wolf regains his sight and moves to attack Conan, but with his size, Conan cuts the dire wolf down with an Aoo critical hit from the dagger.  B2 and B3 hit Conan, bringing him down to single digit hps.  Then the 2 bandits move back 30', fear and uncertainty in their eyes.

Round 6
Aldona fights back as best she can and this time hits Conan, taking him down to negative hps with a sword hit, but does that stop Conan- not with orcish ferocity it doesn't.  Aldona manages to shake off the effects of the dust and can see again.  Conan, Conover and Bobble team up on Aldona again and finally manage to drop her.  Makoto heals Conan to above 0 hps before he can go down.   B2 and B3 show more bravery than commonsense and take 1 last shot before running off into the woods, and again Conan goes down to negative hps, unconscious and dying.

Re: Chp 3 Silverhalls

Post Battle
Aldona, B1, B4 and dire wolf all dying or dead.
B2 and B3 ran off into the woods.
Makoto starts healing everyone with a wand.

As she dies, Aldona transforms into a stout, red-haired Taldan woman with eyebrows that meet in the middle and a nose that has been broken and reset incorrectly.  As the battle ends quiet descends on the camp and you can hear the sounds of pounding coming from the inside of a large trunk in the largest tent. You notice all of the melee weapons belonging to the bandits bear Marek’s maker’s mark: an eagle clutching a pair of tongs.
In the largest tent a table sits next to a bedroll covered in matted fur. The table is surrounded by pigeon feathers, splintered avian bones, and the fragments of a cage. There is a pair of Aldori dueling swords hanging from the pole along with a key. A large trunk is where the pounding and sounds are coming from and next to the trunk is an unceremonious pile of gear (a mw Aldori dueling sword, studded leather armor, buckler, 3 daggers, pouch, bag and a signet ring on top of the pile)
Once everyone is healed, you gather round and open the chest, inside you find Lander.  He is tied, gagged and has been beaten up pretty bad, but no life threatening wounds are evident.  Lander is tall, young, and good-looking. He wears an “adventurer’s outfit” made of expensive materials, but because of his ill treatment by the bandits, it’s stained with mud and blood and is disheveled and frayed. One of his eyes is swollen shut, and his unruly hair is mussed. He looks up at you from inside the chest and gesture for you to help him out.

Ah, good day to you sir. We have been looking for you. Your grandmother was quite concerned about your safety and asked us to find you. It appears we got here in time to prevent you being sold to slavers. Please be so good as to return to town with us. Your friend the blacksmith is behind the bandits in the area and we need to talk to your grandmother about that as well.

Bobble will ask Conan to help him out of the chest. We will return his gear to him. All the bandits gear is ours. We will take all the weapons for evidence.

Look, you have shown yourself to be brave taking on all these thugs by yourself, but it may be that the sword is not your path.   Lander looks at Bobble closely, "I didn't notice the orange hair.  Still, I don't take advice from servants and, if he isn't a simpleton, why hasn't he handed me my sword yet?"  He turns to Makoto, "You should teach your servant better manners M'lady, would you happen to have a mirror handy?"
Makoto pulls a steel mirror out and gives it to him, "He isn't my servant.  We met a few weeks ago in Nerosyan and have been traveling together to find their father.  I am Makoto Kowata a humble witch on a wandering journey", she gives him a bow, "pleased to meet you.  Let me heal you injuries with some magic." She casts clw on Lander (heals 7 hp). He looks at himself in the mirror as she casts her spell and oddly looks disappointed, "So you aren't a foreign princess on a quest to save the world.  Well then, you can help me stop the bandits."

Wait, you two? intones Conan as the two are about to duel it out.   There has to be a better way than just fighting all the time.   say Conan exasperatedly with the two potential combatants.    As to the matter of your sword, in your current condition of being Black and Blue all over, you're in no real condition to handle a weapon.

Landers responds drawing out his sword, "Dear squire,  I seriously misjudged the situation.  You are the one with sound judgement for recognizing one of superior station such as myself.  Stay behind us my good lady, we will keep you safe.  Come, the game is afoot.  Just as Baron Aldori was beat and then returned to defeat his foes, I shall defeat the rest of the bandits."  Lander proceeds to start walking into the rapidly falling darkness.  Makoto doesn't move and calmly says, "I am sorry Lord Lebeda but I am out of spells and it will be dark soon.  Perhaps we might want to rest and begin in the morning?"  Note; this is how she speaks, very politely to everyone.  Landers stops quickly, "Very well, if you and your man servants need time to rest, I will forgo my immediate and just revenge."  He looks around the camp at the dead bodies, "Maybe we can retire to a place less befouled by the stench of death."
While Makoto talks with Landers and finishes healing him with a wand, Conan and Bobble finish searching the camp.  They find a note on the table in the big tent next to the pigeon cage.
quote:
M,
Wincent found some rich whelp snooping around our watering hole. We roughed him up and have stashed him away while we figure out how to make some coin off of him. Who do you think we can ransom him off to? That lordly pet hanging around your shop probably knows someone we could get in touch with, right?
Aldona

The group moves off a ways and sets up another campsite.  Landers makes no effort to help setup, but does "help" Conan with several suggestions.  Eventually camp is made and dinner is served.  Landers likes the dogs and cat.  Over the course of the evening do you want to chat about anything in particular or subtly probe Landers for information?

Conan will make small talk at first then probe for more information subtly of course if Conan can.   (Clearly diplomacy isn't his forte, but when Lander says something, Conan will return with a pointed question and if something interesting comes up from it, possibly Makoto will pick up on it.)   Conan can tell that Bobble is put out with the young lording.   Conan will have to do something about it, so when Lander goes to sleep, Conan will have a talk with Bobble.

Hey Bobble,  you got a minute?   You're just as much at fault as Lander.    Don't get me wrong, he started it, by being prejudiced, but you being stubborn and ignoring him is just as bad.   We are here to try and persuade him that the sword isn't the way for him and you're not helping me.   You know that I have trouble with persuading people to my view point and I could definitely use your help with him.   In other words, straighten up, would ya because I don't think I can stand two children masquerading as adults right now.

Re: Chp 3 Silverhalls

Bobble starts to talk to the dogs, but then realizes he has already used that magic today(msg 114).  Landers treats the dogs and cat well, though he has no skill in handle animal.  Meanwhile Conan becomes unexpectedly chatty as he asks Landers questions, which Landers is happy to answer, for the most part.  He ignores any reference to Marek and the fact that the bandit's weapons all had his makers's mark, and he is skillful at changing the subject.  Makoto will mostly listen, but will occasionally help Conan when he is having trouble in the conversation.  After you are sure Landers is asleep and with Chito keeping an eye on him, you gather round the fire and quietly discuss what you know.
- behind the young noble’s rambunctiousness is a strong desire to prove himself in the eyes of tested warriors
- Bobble got off on the wrong foot by bringing up many things Landers dislikes
- Landers dislikes (penalty to diplomacy rolls)
mentioning that they were sent by his grandmother
    stating that you rescued him
Marek’s involvement with the bandits seems a particularly sore point
    lecturing him about his responsibilities
- His desire to hunt bandits is honest, and he realized that 4 were missing (2 ran away/escaped, 1 dead at pond and 1(Wincent) was released).  You are pretty sure Landers is not involved with the bandits, beyond- trying to hunt them down, being captured and the fact that his friend/mentor/teacher seems to be involved with them.
- He is arrogant, used to getting his own way, stubborn, adolescent, rash and opinionated
- He views anyone without a noble title as a lesser being
- He is obsessed with derring-do and heroic chronicles, and believes he is clearly the protagonist. This leads him to draw conclusions based on narrative structure rather than good sense.  Thus he assumed Makoto was a princess in disguise, just like in the stories of Aerod and Gilraine.
- He does have good social skills
- Landers likes (bonus to diplomacy rolls)
    compliments
pandering to his sense of heroics
    actually assisting him

Spoiler text: (Highlight or hover over the text to view)
Bobble managed to rack up so MANY penalties to his diplomacy roll in his 1st 2 interactions.  The only reason Landers is not outright HOSTILE toward Bobble is that Bobble has chr, skill at diplomacy and rolled good.

OOC; I am going to assume this are your suggestions while you are talking around the campfire...
Makoto listens to your proposals and thinks for a bit, before commenting "While that might convince him to return to the city, how is that solving the problem of getting him back on the straight and narrow, as Conan put it?  Particularly since that is going to involve his teacher Marek, a topic he seems particularly loathe to explore.  I think he might be embarrassed at having been used by Marek and afraid of the social consequences if it became know that this man was the bandit chief.  Remember(msg 74), the attacks were precisely planned and Dame Leboda suspected her family was being targeted specifically because of some political grudge.  It is possible Marek was using Landers to get information on the caravans.
Also Conan, you forget that (msg 134) even Wincent didn't know the identity of their leader.  So how are the 2 who ran away going to inform him of anything, as I doubt they know who he is?  Now Lord Landers doesn't know that, but we do.  Also, what should we tell him about Wincent (msg 135 or so)?  I doubt he will be thrilled at what we did.

There is no surprise round, everyone gets initiative on the ants.
The ants don't seem particularly interested in you, just on the dead bodies.

Without much interaction Bobble and Conan destroy the 1st ant and then rescue Landers from the 2nd ant.

This impresses Lander enough that when Conan suggests they return to the city he agrees.  However, he is still sullen and not really friendly on the trip back.

Upon returning to the city he goes to his room without saying a word to you.  Grandma is happy he has returned, "Apparently even you weren't able to get through to him that this path he has chosen is the wrong one."  The news that Marek is the bandit leader causes her to send the guards to his house and arrest him.

You get the information you wanted, and you learn the bard you are following was last seen with an elven caravan leading to the Greenheart Kingdom.
