Quick Poll: Romance In Story

As a GM, I try to bring the best game I can to you folks.  Part of that is trying to bring more than just hack and slash combat and roll playing (which I suck and and despise anyway).  One dimension that has had three different responses in my games in the past is romance.  People either want it (and mention it when its not there), are indifferent, or find it completely awkward (especially since we are all dudes IRL right now so far as I know - though I have tried to get some female players involved).

I'd like to know how this group feels about relationships in game.  If you don't want to say so in this thread, PM me.  Be as elaborate as you want with what you'd like to see in game, though it will all be kept PG.  I don't mind doing what you as players wish for and it doesn't bother me as I compartmentalize myself from my NPCs.  I also don't want to introduce it in game and suddenly its awkward and people start dropping.

Thanks.

Most groups I have been a part of in the past have warded off that sort of thing due to the awkward factor, but having said that... I don't think it would bother me.

It is not something that I would mind really as long as it is done tasteful like you said.  It is defiantly a way to expand ones character and learn more about them.  So if that is what a character wants and if feels natural I am cool with that, I think there is a reason that romance is such a large part of almost every story that we see told.  It is a way for us to engage the story in a different way.

I don't know if it is something that works for Ano, as he is very focused on his mission.  That being said I would be all for building relationships between PC and NPC to a greater degree.  They don't have to be romantic relationships but it would be cool to develop deeper relations with those around us,  although I am not quite sure how to accomplish that.

If there were, or would be one or more female characters (PC or NPC), and Klale were attracted to one or more; he'd take action. I agree about the PG part of the matter4.

I cant say that I'm honestly 100% keen on the idea and would be a participant, but so long as that subject didn't become a main focus I'd be comfortable enough I suppose. I personally have little desire to take my own character in that direction.

We may be looking at this all wrong... I think what Eru is trying to say is that Phineas found himself a little girlfriend.

In reply to Toben Ironsprings (msg # 6):

Haha! Phin hasn't encountered anyone or anything in his tiny state that he'd want to strike up a relationship with. At least, not one that didn't feature one of his daggers as the primary means of communication.

In reply to Eru (msg # 1):

I've no issues with characters (player or otherwise) having romantic dalliances, though Phin, because of his youth, isn't likely to be terribly interested just yet. PG sounds great.
