Adventure of Wyvern Tor, Too

OOC: Reaching the 1,000 post mark in the other thread, so time to shift to this one.

===== Mithra's Group =====

Mithra heads down the long tunnel. After 50 feet, she comes to a side passage on the right. It goes only 10 feet before turning right into a dead end. It's a worked tunnel, but it's hard to tell if the end was being mined and the miners gave up, or if it just collapse. Probably the former, as a longer tunnel would have led back to the pool room.

Ten feet further along the main tunnel there is a passage on the left. It goes 20 feet before branching left and right. The left branch goes down about 50 feet and ends in collapsed section. There was a side branch off of it on the right that went 20 feet before turning right.

The right branch went 30 feet before ending in another collapse, but it, too, has a side tunnel on the left that appears to open into a maze-like network of openings and tunnels.

Back in the main tunnel, another opening on the right is a 10-foot dead end. 30 feet further there is an intersection. The right passage goes in about 15 feet before splitting left and right, though both directions end in dead ends. The left passage goes 20 feet before a collapsed roof prevents further passage, while a left-hand tunnel appears to lead back to the maze.

The main tunnel goes another 20 feet before opening into a cavern. She finds herself standing in a lower section that's maybe 1/4th of the whole cavern. The rest of the cavern opens up to the right, but the floor of the rest of the cavern is 20 feet above her.

However, she spots a rope changing down from above.

Eredan peers down the first side tunnel, then the next. Within that one he sees the network of mazed tunnels and entrances and his face gives a small tick. Two corridors later and side tunnels he is rubbing the bridge of his nose with his fingers, massaging it hard and when he spots a rope going up it's all he can do to remain sane.

"This is more convoluted than visions of the darkness I've seen - you have some insight into this mess of tunnels I hope Mithra?"

Arms crossed Eredan suddenly looks as if he wish he still were drinking in a pub.

In reply to Eredan Corlinus (msg # 2):

Ezguar looks shocked. Eredan my good friend are you telling me you don't see the beauty in the architecture and strategy of these tunnels? I feel right at home down here. Something about a good tricky tunnel brings back the nostalgia. Ezguar runs his hands against the wall in admiration.

===== Victor's Group =====

No floating skull. No conflagration. Dwarves and spellcasters did battle. The Dwarves won. I am still here, and I still guard the treasures!

Wait. Thinking. Green flaming skull that floats in the air! Dead wizard he is! I heard them talk about it. It can't leave the room where it died. That's why it's never come here.

"Yes, you are quite right.  We saw it earlier," Nixon replied aloud and "in thought", not certain if it made a difference. "Is there a name you go by, or would prefer we call you?  I am Nixon of Waterdeep."  The warrior-mage spoke very easily, non-threateningly, and in tone of respect and courtesy, somewhat between barchat and more formal polite inquiry as he sounded out the social footing with this strange creature.  <brown>

"Friend guardian, was the wizard the one that summoned you to protect the treasures, or was he an attacker?

"Oh, and where did the dwarves go afterwards, if they won?

"You truly have great powers, in speaking to the mind, and seeing the hidden.  Did they turn the sword invisible? - we cannot see it with our eyes, not being as skilled as you.  Are you wishing to remain here, or can we help you to travel with us?  If you are wishing to return home, how can we help you to do such?"

"Is the dead wizard skull bound as a guardian, too? By the dwarves? Please tell us what you know about the battle between the dwarves and wizards."
asks Victor.

Nixon spoke sideways towards Victor, in response to his question, but continued overwatch. "Tales I've heard spoke of them as undead spirits, wizard power with malice... haunt the area of their death, reveling in causing pain and venting their fury - some think as result of their true impotence, others that it's an effort to draw magical energy.  They're purported a tough fight for both sword and Art.

"So I hear, anyway.  Rare to encounter, so there hasn't been a great theocratic investigation on them.  Revelries can be found in better locales as well for those seeking challenge, and with the tied-to-death haunting, they don't move around much to draw attention, save from those that frequent the places where the death occurred."

"It looks like some sort of abandoned mine", opines Lureene. "I think we did well in going straight to this cave, however. We should go up the rope and see where it leads." She smiles faintly. "After we make sure it's secure and it's not some sort of alarm bell, of course."
