Yes, you can throw a dagger.

As for interacting with others through initiative... well, it depends on what the interaction is. Conversation wouldn't normally be affected by initiative.

Nixon, of course, is not fighting the bugbear but the wraith in a different area...

Unless he really hit the wraith so hard that there was bleed through or trample damage.  ;)

Ahhh the bloody bugbear managed to nick me by 1 point, but hooo boy does it make me feel a live when I interpose and save some low hp party members. Although I do wonder what happened to my magic missile damage. Am I just missing the post that included it?

Short resting is a good plan.

Having a magical weapon (if it is indeed magical) v. potential other mundane-resistant foes seems well, well, well worth the time as well :)

Or the ability to get far away very quickly. ;)

Apparently Yondalla really likes it when people call on her for aid, even when they're only pretending to worship her...  Maybe I should actually start worshipping her.  Maybe that's what Yondalla was going for, playing the long con of, "They'll fake it until they make it."
