8: The Secret of Old Owl Well

Whatever is left of the group after the night heads out at first light.

It's about 40 miles north-northeast over and around hills to reach Old Owl Well, so it'll take around 11-12 hours to get there, depending on how much you hustle, and barring any interruptions along the way.

Will Victor once again take the lead?

8: The Secret of Old Owl Well

To start, Victor says, "I don't know some of you very well, and you don't know me. If anyone feels they should lead this here band, let me know. I prefer guarding the rear until a fight breaks out, anyway, to make sure the mages don't get ambushed. If we make a plan for battle, don't wait until an orc is breathing down yer neck to let us know you didn't like the plan. Speak up at the start, or stick to the plan. The rest of our lives may depend on it. That says, no plan survives contact with the enemy. If you cannot fulfill your roll in the plan, improvise! And last but not least, you all know where you belong in a fight. If we come across something simple, like a handful of goblins or a couple of ogres, don't wait for me to come up with a plan, just do your thing! Now, if I haven't talked you lot to death, are. You. Ready?"

Prizzard nods at key points and grins at the end, speaking loud enough for all to hear "I think the main battle plan is: Do what you do best, we'll come to understand each other in time.  By the looks of it, this party isn't exactly green."

And if it turns out we have enough mounts to make good time, Prizzard will offer turns in his saddle to help prevent fatigue, but nodody packed heavier than he is: 250lb with backpack and full gear.

Thressa sighs.

" You seem like a good leader to me. Just remember a good leader learns what members of his group fit what roles. "

"I'll take the lead," Mithra speaks up. "We don't seem to have a scout in the group, so we'll just have to take things head on."

"That's all right by me--that's the way I like it."

She finishes putting things back in her backpack, slings it over her shoulder and then looks around to see if everyone else is ready.

Victor says, "So, Stormraven in the lead, me in the back, Clothar and Sulaanin are mages-- I have a bit of magical training, myself, though I'm better with weapons-- anyone else? I know Wildflamme has some healing, as does Raventree. As for our more recent acquaintances, Prizzard is good with a blade... what about you, Ubo, Charoum?"
