Re: Chapter 1: O'Malley's
Wilric nodded to the halfling and was about to reply when someone knocked into his chair from behind, suddenly followed by the sound of something breaking behind him.

He looked down at the broken pendant, then at the orc extorting him over what was either an example of orcish clumsiness or the most hamfisted attempt at a con he'd seen yet.

Without replying, Wilric leaned down and studied the broken pendant, seized by a sudden suspicion...

OOC: Wilric Shadow-Wanderer rolled 13 using 1d20+8.  Jewelcraft roll to inspect pendant.

Re: Chapter 1: O'Malley's
Hearing Gedd call loudly across the tavern the orc begins to look about nervously.  As Wilric and Wyn study the pendant the orc starts to stammer.  "I...I... it's a family... priceless to me... you'll, you'll..."  Blood flushes his cheeks.  Not even bothering to scoop up the remains of his amulet the orc rushes out of O'Malley's to a chorus of laughter from those watching the scene unfold.

Re: Chapter 1: O'Malley's
Wyn reaches down to pick up the remains of the pendant, and study it at his leisure - although he leaves the shattered 'gem' on the floor for the cleaners to sweep up later.  Then the wide, satisfied, grin  returns to his face.  No daft Orc is going to spoil his mood this evening.

"So what was that all about." he asks as he heads over the Bar.

"Glass," Wilric announced in a conversational tone to the other halflings, more amused than offended by the attempted hoax.  The setting might've been worth something, but certainly not the 10 gold he proclaimed.

Gedd watched with a sneer on his face as the orc departs at top speed.

"Oh by the Mother, I hate orcs so damn much!" he exclaims.

"I don't like that one," Berta growls.  "I'd have paid him off and been left with a handful of broken glass !"

"Well spotted," the warrior-woman congratulates Claire.

"So ... who's going first ?" setting that unpleasantness behind her, Berta grins at Wilric and Wyn, eagerly awaiting to hear what they have discovered.

Re: Chapter 1: O'Malley's
Wilric excused himself from the table with the halflings, still chuckling softly over the attempted con, and arrived in time to catch Berta's question.

"We have a possible lead on Balen, we can talk to Gri, hangs out around the kobold camp in the South Third.  We might want to save him as a backup plan though, they were pretty convinced the cost outweighs the benefit when dealing with Gri."

He smirked at Berta then, as though suddenly reminded of something. "By the way, interrupting Halfling games is considered rude..."

"You can." Wyn responds to Berta's question, reminding her that he hasn't been privvy to their earlier conversations.

"Can we do it here in the bar, or should we try and reclaim the room that Hearth and Claire saw us in?"

"Doubt we can afford it," Berta smiles sweetly at Wyn.  "Only the drinks are free."

"We can probably find a noisy corner where we won't be overheard ... or we can exchange tales on the way if you think this Gri is our best bet," she nods to Wilric congratulating him on his skill in winkling that information out of the group.  "That was well done !"   Then snorts at his latter comment.  "They were playing a game ?  Only games I learned involved cold steel ..."

"We could just sit here and whisper. That probably irritates everyone else in the place though ..."

Gedd trails off, obviously deep in thought.

OOC: Probably trying to make up his mind whether that is actually a bad thing or not.  ;o)

After a moment he does start whispering to Wyn though.

Re: Chapter 1: O'Malley's
"Ahh.  I started off at the sweet shop." he says pulling out a bag of sweets and putting them on the counter.  "Help yourself, although they might be a bit sticky now ..." he says realising that he bought them some time ago.

Wyn leans in and whispers with a grin, before continuing in a more normal voice.

"Then I spent some time in The White Dragon, where I  learned that Council Woman Kezra has a beautiful singing voice.  Between up we put on quite a show, and drummed up a lot of business for the bar, while Winnie was getting ready for dinner. Although Kezra had little to say that was of benefit to us.

Then I found a nice restaurant ....  But you guys don't need to know about the rest of the evening."
He finishes with a satisfied little smirk.

Claire digs in when Wyn places the bag of sweets on the counter.  "Mmm hmm."  She simply mumbles.  Whatever the group decides on seems secondary to her current goal of stuffing her face.

Re: Chapter 1: O'Malley's
Berta eyes the bag of sweets, steeling her resolve to leave them well alone as she joins in the clandestine discussion.

The warrior-woman grins at Wilric, absently dipping her hand into the sweet bag, popping one of the sugary morsels of delight into her mouth and pocketing another three or four.

Claire joins Berta in shoving a few more sweets into her own mouth before stuffing some into Berta and Gedd's mouth when they aren't prepared for the confectionery assault.  "Well?  Lets go fee the witchy animal tainer."  Claire says with a full mouth.

(I'll open up a new thread, head there when you're ready.)

Chapter E

Strolling towards the familiar building the large moving form of Guuug trailing along after him Xtitkk heads to the open court at its side orders a meal and beverage. Taking a seat he considers his possibilities while waiting for the order.

Re: Chapter 1: O'Malley's
Guuug takes his position at the door and begins to bellow out the typical specials for the day of the week.  "Half priced ale until noon!"

The server recognizes Xtitkk and brings his usual drink before getting the adventurer's order.  O'Malley's seems dead right now and it will likely be at least a few hours before any employers wander in.

Hipparran enters O'Malley's feeling refreshed from his brief sea voyage, the salt in his lungs and wind on his face always seem to have that effect on him. Not needing much of a break (and eager for adventure) Hipparran heads straight to the bar to pick up the colored thread that marks him as a battle caster.

Nearly before Hipparran can even sit down a gruff looking older dwarf in dusty clothes takes a seat opposite the sorcerer.  "I need a caster.  I sent a group a couple days ago and they're down a man.  Someone with arcane skills geared toward combat would help them out.  Do you have those skills?"

Harsk pours himself a dark colored ale from a small ancient looking barrel resting on the table.  He takes a long draw from the mug and then leans in close to Hipparran.

"The sooner the better.  They're down in the tunnels as we speak.  I'm heading back there after I eat.  The entrance is at a small abandoned house in the West Third that was converted into a cultist temple.  I have dwarves standing guard outside the house, easy to spot."

Aeos enters the establishment and goes to the bar to quickly speak to the bartender, inquiring about Harsk, asking Harsk be informed of his presence, orders a drink and then finds a seat.

"That's yer man, er dwarf, over there Mr. Foldstone."  The barkeep points out a gruff looking dwarf four tables over speaking to an adventurer wearing a red yarn indicating a spellcaster with offensive capabilities.

No sooner do you spot the table than the adventurer gets up and leaves Harsk to eat his dinner in solitude.

Aeos asks for a plate to be delivered to that table, taking his drink he leaves the bartender and approaches Harsk, moving to be where the Dwarf can see him before speaking.
