Chapter 4: The Temple of the Mother (Craw)
In reply to DM (msg # 1):

While we wait for High Priest Raf would we be able to peruse your histories. Xtitkk politely enquires.

Chapter 4: The Temple of the Mother (Craw)
In reply to DM (msg # 1):

Not to hinder Xtitkk in his desire to learn, Montgomery chooses his words to accommodate both,
"We may wait for a bit longer but we would eventually like for you to show us the entrance."
The temple does afford a good place to learn and study, perhaps their benefactor would send them back when their business was done.

"Of course.  We do stick to a strictly oral history though.  Do you mind listening to our resident historian?"

OOC - I'm presently working on a bunch of background information for players that have various knowledge skills.  I should have most of it done in a few days.  I'll give you some of what they would know, but if I need to I'll move on without specifics and post it for you later.

Chapter 4: The Temple of the Mother (Craw)
In reply to Montgomery (msg # 3):

Xtitkk grimaced at the manites comment. Surely you don't intend to undertake to crawl around underground. If we were meant for such things our Divine would have created us differently. He prompted chinning in the direction of the earthen Guug to emphasize this.

Guuug seems utterly oblivious Xtitkk is talking about him, standing impassively like one of the sculptures around them.

In reply to Xtitkk (msg # 5):

"Perhaps we were not created for such but we have an excellent expert on the matter. Gruug can point out to us the best points and guide is."
Looking to Gruug with a big smile he asks him directly,
"What do you think? Can you navigate us through the underground?"

In reply to Montgomery (msg # 7):

This declaration prompted a Xtitkk to doubt the manites sanit.y In which case One shall continue to review the annuals until Thee hath finished crawling about underground

Guuug slowly moved his head. It took a moment for folk to realize he was nodding."I like caves. Pretty. If I fit in, I can guide. I like stone. Stones tell a story, and caves tell long ones."

"Very well.  If you wish to review our story please find the priest at the back of the temple, Lim.  Otherwise I can take you to the entrance to the shrine where Raf is.  Please follow me."  The lentakri priest begins to slowly make his way out of the temple.

Chapter 4: The Temple of the Mother (Craw)
Nodding agreeably to Xtitkk Montgomery speaks to Guuug to do just that then,
"Well my friend, you shall be our expert underground, while this man shows us to the entrance."
Obviously this was a common trek and not too dangerous else surely they would not allow strangers to just wander the underground to their deaths.

Chapter 4: The Temple of the Mother (Craw)
Lim waves to Xtitkk as the first priest points toward the back of the temple.  Those going to the underground shrine follow behind the priest.  The group makes their way to the exit gates of Craw.  the priest leads you around the outside of the gate about a quarter of the way around the city facing the Amicus Ocean.  The water is still and calm, which is the normal for this body of water.  A few tiny waves splash against the rocks below.

The priest motions to a thin stone staircase carved into the side of the mountain.  The stairs head down toward the water.  "Follow."  He says.  The priest stays behind as the group continues down the thin stairway.  The view is breathtaking as you look out over the rocks and water to your left.  At the bottom of the stairs the path heads into a cavern that is carved from underneath the mountain.  The path ends at a slope into a large pool of water, most likely the water mentioned that would need to be swam through.

OOC - If you stayed with Lim the historian please label each post at the top with something like "With Historian" to keep the two groups clear.

Montgomery does his best to keep up with the priest while taking in the view, pausing every so often as he reflects.
"I am surprised we do not see more people, the view is so beautiful that it would draw spectators."

The group leaves the priest at the top of the stairs and continues down to the bottom where the water blocks their path.  Shiana reminds the group they will need to swim the rest of the way and asks if anyone needs to prepare for the swim.

Chapter 4: The Temple of the Mother (Craw)
Montgomery is a little concerned for their big friend,
"Guuug, can you swim? I know there are underground lakes and those in the mountains but it would be good to know if it is a problem."
He looks around for any sort of flotation devices, loose wood or the like.

Small bits of driftwood can be found, but nothing that would likely hold Guuug afloat.  Most of the area is rocky and rough.

OOC - The priest had mentioned needing to go under the water long enough to go under some rocks and come up in a hidden cavern on the other side.

Chapter 4: The Temple of the Mother (Craw)
The group enters the chilly cavern water.  Opening your eyes underneath a light can be seen below.  The water is calm and easy to swim through.  You make your way toward the lights coming up out of the water and into an enclosed cavern after a short swim.

The cavern has been made into a shrine to The Mother.  Similar to the temple in decoration, sculptures and murals fill the area.  The difference can be seen in the quality of items here.  Every item left in this shrine is expertly crafted, and not all by the same hand from the looks of it.

A lentakri in dry grey robes kneels at the center of the room facing away from you.  Several sculptures around the room glow with magical light fully illuminating the area.  A tunnel brnching off into darkness can be seen past the lentakri.

Guuug stepped up carefully, not wanting to topple a fragile object like a statue by mistake, and began appreciating the art, once again seeming content to to someone else do the talking.

A Historic journey

Xtitkk thanked the priest and made his way to the Church Archives. Introducing himself to any of the Order and enquiring about at least eight items including the one they were searching for.

Chapter 4: The Temple of the Mother (Craw)
Montgomery breaks the surface of the water as quietly as he can clearing his eyes so he can see what is around. Once he can tell he is in some sort of shrine he maintains his respectful manner. Exiting the water he looks about then takes a seat near the worshiper, not wanting to disturb him in mid prayer.

Chapter 4: The Temple of the Mother (Craw)
In reply to Xtitkk (msg # 23):

Xtitkk finds information on five of the eight items he asks about.  The historian sits with him and tells the stories of each item, admitting he does not know of the other three.  He does know of the Sword of Senectus though.

The sword itself is said to have the power, in the hands of the right person, to lead nations.  However, a great evil came to the land of Senectus before the country bore that name.  The sword was used to trap this evil and then hidden away so as to not allow the evil to escape.  Some believe the invasion in Senectus is the result of releasing that evil.  However, given what other stories the historian knows he does not beleive this to be the case.  He thinks the events in Senectus are separate from the evil associated with the sword.

Chapter 4: The Temple of the Mother (Craw)
The man sits for a moment longer after Montgomery sits down before opening his eyes.  "Greetings... come... to... worship."  He speaks with the pace of the lentakri.
