Temple: Shrine to Takri
Takri’s Shrine is located in the cemetery, close to the gates.  It consists of an Altar building and courtyard.  The building houses a single stone altar – seven feet long and three feet wide – marked with Takri’s Golden Road symbol on the top.  The bodies of people important enough to be memorialized are laid on the altar (in their coffins or shrouds) while they are prepared for burial.   The walls are covered in plaques that bear the name of the dead who have been memorialized here, while another, larger, plaque bears the names of the Shrine’s Patrons.  Each plaque also bears depictions of The Golden Road and The Navigator’s Compasses – making them non-denominational.

The Courtyard consists of a quiet open space, with a few benches and bushes scattered around, more memorial plaques adorn the walls and benches.

An elderly man dressed in monastic robes, who wears a medallion with the Golden Road symbol walks the shrine.  He is responsible for reading names of the patrons daily and the memorialized at least once a week.  He also oversees basic funerals and answers simple religious questions.

A younger man tasked with overseeing the digging of graves can be found in the graveyard.  He doesn’t dig them all himself, but brings in casual labour when required.  In between times, he polishes the memorial Plaques.

Neither man is particularly outgoing, and they are used to providing quiet and unobtrusive support to mourners while getting on with their jobs.  Most religious questions will be deflected to the more senior priests in the City.

The plaques around the shrine memorializing fallen adventurers read as follows:

To those who have come before , may they find their feet upon the golden road.

Shiana, priestess of Craw
Lord Reginald Quintolian
Maldrek, brewmaster
Gnicely, the pride of O’Malley’s
Chaparral, daughter of the earth
Teloin Ytrael, voice as smooth as shadowrock
Kaylynn, back to whence Ennui created
Chp’Chek, ratkin warlock
Nathaniel Direclaw, son of Vedainerad
Somitha, Child of Shadows
Jayne Kassender, Free Company
Evelyn Innocente, perpetual servant
Danethel, victim of politics
Kittran Velerian, Veronica’s only love
Darkleigh Noon, squirrel wrangler
Wavetail Maplerider, Darkleigh wrangler
Vu, end of the bloodline
Krognar, Boulderfall Boy
Ragdahr, Boulderfall Boy
Govannon, Boulderfall Boy
Gorn, patient tactician
Qorchi, founder of the infinitely resourceful ask’n’tell
Oissin Eberfell, went back to his roots
Maderas, fashionable goggled sorcerer
Archain, friend to Drox (vanished into the planes)
Tamarie Silver, rusted away

Once at the temple, Aeos will ask to speak to a priest and of that priest he asks to speak to the person or priest in charge of burials for unclaimed bodies.

The man overseeing the rituals and rites tells Aeos that two men share the priestly duties here, but neither makes this his home.  He suggests finding Wyn Roth.  Asking around at O'Malley's would be the easiest way to find him.  Failing that he directs you to Jahi Penman, who can be found at his shop, Pen and Ink.

After breaking his fast, Wyn makes his way to the shrine much as he does most days when he is home.  The peace of the cemetery helps him settle for the day and reading that names of the patrons and those dead who have been memorialised there reinforce his connection with Takri and the Golden Road.

This morning, however, he spends a little longer that usual reading the names in the memorial garden as he waits for Aeos Foldstone to join him.  He knows little about the man except that he dresses well and runs a large business that deals with books, paper and ink.  Still, any petitioner to the shrine is worthy of his attention.  Especially one who is rich enough to make a sizeable donation.

Once at the temple, Aeos inquires as to the availability of Wyn Roth, though the position Wyn holds at the temple is an unknown.

"Yes, I did, Good Morning."

Aeos took a seat on the bench and took a moment to survey the grounds around him and the temple.

"I made a brief inquiry day last, and the priest here told me you were the one I need speak.

A man went missing some time ago, some six months ago, a tall man, short brown hair, he had a horrible scar on his left arm.  I sketched a quick illustration from the description
."

Aeos removes a stiff piece of paper and unfolds it.

"A fisherman by trade.  I know that unclaimed bodies, unidentified bodies come here from the city.

I came here to see if this man's body might have been cared for by this temple
."

”Takri is the guide who lights our way into the afterlife, who ensures that we all reach our allotted destination.  We, her servants, are a source of comfort to those left behind and ward the departing spirit against the ravages of their journey.  And,” his voice gets harder  ”we are a scourge of those who cling to this world and do not start their journey along her Golden Road that leads to their destiny in the next.”

He pauses for a moment, before he speaks softly again.  ”Her role as a guide and protector has endeared her to  those who travel and many travellers tip their caps in her direction and leave a few coins in her donation plate.  Indeed, those of the southern continent, such as my colleague Jahi, are more interested in her aspect as a travel deity and represent her with the Navigator’s Compasses” and he indicates the symbol on one of the plaques, ”rather than the road that we are more familiar with.”

Handing the drawing back to Aeos, Wyn shakes his head.  "There hasn't been anything out of the ordinary for a while, and very little in the way of unidentified bodies.  Just the occasional drowned body washed up, down by the docks, But that isn't unusual, and none of them looked like your friend." he reassures Aeos gently.

Aeos, takes a moment... it seemed the answer he came for was here, but how?

"How could they know? Are there not others who know?

Wyn responds gently as Aeos appears to succumb to his grief. "There is no list." He says softly "Unknown and unclaimed bodies are just that, we do not try to identify bodies that are brought to us, merely to give them a funeral with some sort of dignity, and to ease them on their way along Takri's Golden Road." As he speaks Wyn indicates that they should leave the Altar area and retire to the memorial gardens again.

"The City Guard bring their unclaimed bodies here, perhaps they would know if  one of them was your friend?" the undertaker suggests softly, trying to give the man another source of comfort in his grief.

"Doing Takri's work is reward enough." Wyn responds ritualistically, deflecting the thanks with what appears to be a standard response.  "I am afraid that I don't have much dealings with the guard.  Even when they send us bodies, they are delivered on a cart by a couple of their labourers.  And then the Sexton normally deals with them." he continues softly, maintaining the quiet and dignity of the gardens.  "Other than that, we don't really have any dealings with them."

Seeing a priest already standing near the entrance, he waves hello and steps closer, "Good day, priest. If I could ask for further direction, I was directed here by a priest at the temple to the mother. He mentioned I might find someone here better able to help me with an issue of spirits, or perhaps that I should find a priest by the name of Wyn Roth. Aldon waits for the Reader to finish and Wyn Roth's attention to return before continuing, "To be honest, I'm not really sure where to start. I'm more than a little out of my depth on this one. I own Witchlight Woodworking, over by O'Malley's. One of my employees spoke to me today about some strange things that have been happening around the workshop. Things go missing, or change places when people aren't looking. That sort of stuff. Harmless so far, but mostly to humor him I had my hired priest take a look around. He told me there is some sort of spirit involved. This all started when a customer brought in a job for her recently departed husband. Could his ghost really be haunting us now?"

Re: Temple: Shrine to Takri
"Sometimes the souls of the deceased do not tread Takri's Golden Road.  However, there is nearly always a reason for it.  Most have chosen an evil path, some wish to extend their time in this world beyond their allotted span, others just wish harm on those who have survived them,  Still others are captured as servants to more powerful undead.   Some, however, just don't realise that they are dead while others have a less malign purpose." The priest says giving a short version of a lecture he had heard years before.

"Yours doesn't sound particularly malignant." he says on a more positive note.  "Tell me about the occurrences.  What things have changed places or gone missing?  Are they all associated with this job that you refer to?  Do they all happen at a particular time of day, or a particular location?" Wyn continues asking for more details of the case.

Aldon listens intently, eager to learn more. The topic of spirits is something completely new to him. "Huh. Guess there's more to ghosts than I realized. You're right that ours doesn't sound too malignant. I didn't ask my worker for a detailed rundown of things, but he did tell me a little."

"The dead man's wife brought in an old chair for us to restore. That's about the same time things started happening. Most of it happens early in the morning around dawn, and that seems to be centered around keeping the job from being finished. Some specific events witnessed... a table leg unrelated to the chair went missing mid-work and was later found in another room. Also, when working on the same table, the worker's saw got stuck in the wood. He couldn't get it out, but when he returned from lunch, the saw was just sitting on the workbench."

The next morning at Takri's Shrine Wyn is listening to the names of those who have traveled the golden road being read.  His attention is caught by a small trinket left on a new marker.  Wyn recognizes the name as that of the old man from Aldon's shop.  Picking up the trinket to examine it Wyn finds it to be a tiny wooden charm carved into the shape of a chair.  It gives off a faint amount of magic.  As he examines the trinket a faint whisper is heard throughout the shrine.
