Re: A Meeting of Minds (Private Room)
Darrel asked: "What's the tactical plan for entry, location of the data, and egress. We're going to need Blueprints, necessary gear and information on what we should expect upon arrival at the target site."
"I have no blueprints of the facility. I'm not even sure it exists, but word picked up in one of the dockside bars indicates it's there. We have a fishing boat out in the area. We're hoping it'll pinpoint the location... soon."
"As for entry plan, location of data, egrees and expectations when you get there, that's all on you. It's why I'm hiring you."
"I can arrange for use of a submersible and scuba gear."
Walter was able to find three employees that were fired shortly after one of Ondrac's incidents. It's all common knowledge as it was in the news. He quickly realizes that this is their corporate tactic. They've always got someone set up as the patsy/fall guy.
The first one was Del Vinian, a minor VP who is now working at another corporation at twice the salary. The second one was Jo'Anne Karamides; unknown what happened to her. The third was Shindar Oolak. He was a financial officer who is now working as a security guard at one of the marinas.
Samantha had then asked: "What can you tell us about the place we need to get into. Like, how far underwater is it, where is it, and details you know about security, access points. Also what is the size and weight of the item we need to recover."
"I have no information on this underwater dome. If it's a prefab, then there's a limit to how deep it could be, but I would guess it's still within the sunlight depth. Lights would show up at night. I have no idea what its security will be. For all I know, only Dr. Vanager... or whoever, is there."
"I don't know how big the project is; it could be a petrie dish, a suitcase or a large piece of lab equipment. It depends on how far along the project has gotten."
"The data file isn't going to be any bigger than a standard data card, but it could be considerably smaller."
"We'll need everything that you have about Ondrac," Sharik then asked. "the facility and its environs and this Doctor Shenarra Vanager. Holding back something at this late juncture will likely cause collateral damage."
"As I said, I have no data on this underwater facility. It can't be too big, though, or it would have been spotted by now. Other than Vanager's resume, I know nothing else about her, either. We haven't even had a chance to verify her resume. I suspect it will be accurate... as far as it goes."
Shar elaborated on some of Samantha's concerns next: "Infiltrating an underwater facility is tricky under the best of circumstances - usually limited access points, a dangerous overall environment with limited space, in general, closed personnel - who often know each other. If we have to enter or escape in an unorthodox manner, that could cause a lot of collateral damage again. How far is your company willing to authorize such measures?"
Acquire isn't going to authorize anything, especially if it's illegal in any way," Ceruleanne answered. "Murder, blackmail, maiming, demolition... all a no-no, and no orbital bombardments. As Vonon put it, this is a pre-emptive strike, backed by the court... even if it's a bit premature. That, however, is just quibbling. Someone jumping the gun will get a slap on the wrist, maybe a fine, and possibly a few days in jail. It's my job to see that the last one doesn't occur."
Sharik paused a moment then before continuing: "We'll need as much information as you can supply on the project in question - both versions, your clients and Dr. Vanager's. The details are important, if we are transporting a biologically hazardous substance, it is very different than a computer file or microchips. 'Samples' mentioned could be anything from testtubes with or without specialize containment protocols to large live subjects requiring coercion or sedating. Without an idea of those parameters, the deal's off, we have no way of planning for any type of contingency or escape."
"I don't have details on the project, other than what it might be. We have no idea what direction the project may have taken. I simply can't reveal the basic nature of my client's project. I'm bound by confidentiality myself. We don't believe that it is a biologically hazardous material. The size of the facility kind of limits that. Remember, we're not talking about some crazed nutjob or disgruntled employee."
"And I'm pretty sure it doesn't involve a large live creature. Again, size and location kind of preclude that."
"Does that cover everything?"
