Re: Destination: Invermory (again)

===== AT THE TREVELLYAN THINK TANK =====

"I've yet to hear any numbers," Magda replied. "Such as the number of different drugs of each kind and the number of samples of each."

"If any of them are still viable, it should only take about one month to analyze them, perhaps six months if they've degraded but are still reasonably intact."

"It's a lot easier to backtrack the creation process once you know the end result, as opposed to coming up with something whose end result you don't even know."

"I suspect the combat drugs can be made with a bio-printer, probably the health drugs, too. The others I don't know about. Psi drugs are tricky and often need to be used within a short period of time or they break down. They're just too dynamic."

"I'm gathering that you don't intend on funding any of this yourself, so I'm looking at an initial cost of 250,000 Credits for analysis and set-up."

"25% of any profits to you is acceptable. Plus 10 doses of the final product of each one we are able to reproduce. Initially. After that, each dose will cost you 1% of that month's profits."

"On that basis, gentlemen, we have a deal."

"Now, how do you wish to turn those samples over to me? Do you wish to bring them here? Should I send a security courier to your ship to retrieve them? Or did you have something else in mind?"

In reply to Magda Kirkonen (msg # 943):

Jack tries to do the math in his head. 1% of 100 credits would be a great deal for that month. But if our profit for that month came to 100,000 credits.....wait, still no bad. Math hurts thinks Jack to himself. Considering what some of the drugs could be capable of.

"Here is an inventory of the drugs and a journal entries that had been found in the abandoned lab." Sir Walter said as he made a file and transferred it to Magda.  "Now the journal seems to be entries that were mostly made from conversations the writer had with other workers, and conversations and comments they overheard. I am not sure how accurate it is but it will help give you a reference point."

"After a review of the journal, there are some here that you might prioritize in developing and others that you might want to hold off on development. Some, we feel might want to not become public as there are governments that would have no problem using it on their citizens. Arrestilene, Neutralis, Nightrane, Regenerex, Rejuviumn Retardisene, and the RX/RY/RZ series might be the first ones to hit the shelves. Brainiac, Hypnozap, and Psychotrol might want to be controlled or shelved." he said.

"As for the initial start up, I was thinking more along the lines of 1 million credits to get things rolling along with marketing. The 25/75 split is taking into account your ability in pharmaceuticals, which would be rather expensive working from the ground up." Sir Walter said.

"I didn't bring any samples because no one told me what this was about," Reese responded.

"If we're in agreement, then we can have them brought here."

"Sir Walter, why don't you ask Sylvester to bring them over? Pablo can go with him. Maybe even have Veronika go along as his bodyguard."

Re: Destination: Invermory (again)

"So, you are saying that you'll fund the research and production to the tune of 1 million credits?" Magda replied, still not sure what Sir Walter was saying.

"On that basis, we can probably speed up the process, though I can't guarantee any more rapid success."

When Walter transferred the data file to her, her eyes widened in astonishment as she read the list.

"Many of these I've never heard of, not by any name. Some appear to be standard combat drugs, just by another name."

"The  Iltharans may have been ahead of their time. Then again, war tends to accelerate techno development in many areas, though drugs isn't usually one of them."

"Select three of them to start with. I can probably have some data within two days."

Re: Destination: Invermory (again)

"Rejuviumn, Neutralis, and Regenerex look rather promising." Sir Walter.  said. "Just need to work out the details and finalize a contract with you. Some of the details that come with the million credits will include final approval of certain drugs before they go on the market (1) and Longshot Enterprises LLC. retains patent rights on the formulas along with any derivatives that may be developed. Finally, we will like to have first option to buy your company for the next ten years, local time, if you should come on the market. I do not suspect so, but who knows what might happen when the other corporations catch wind." he added, with a poker face.

"While that might seem a bit demanding, it will cut your development time for the new drugs by a factor of ten or so. They can be on the market in less then a year, rather than a decade or more."

"Sorry about that, Reese." Vonon apologizes to the doctor, "I guess I just assumed you had the samples, when you tagged along. My bad."

"But it's more like Sylvester and Valeska will bring the samples, and Pablo will be the bodyguard--Pablo's an ex-Space Marine, y'know!  I'll make the call."

Vonon pulls his personal comm from his belt and, holding it up before activating it, looks to Magda,

"Okay to use this, here?" Vonon asks--not knowing if the room is signal shielded or not.

Sylvester, and Valeska move to take the samples to where they need to go. "You armed Serge? You may need it, this shit is valuable! Deliver to Vonon as instructed, here is the address! Ready my love?" He asked Valeska. He handcuffs the big case to his wrist as well so no one can just grab it and run. It would draw attention so he wore a jacket to cover the cuffs. He kissed Val on the forehead.

After the massage, Inderpal and Sharik head to the hotel's pool for a casual swim. Unfortunately, Inderpal is unable to engage in any bombing or splashing lest the pair of them get thrown out for inappropriate behaviour.

Once done in the pool, indy books a table for lunch at the hotel's restaurant and looks up the local delicacies.

===== SHARIK AND INDY AT THE SALAMANDER SPA'S POOL AND RESTAURANT =====

It had been a good morning.  Lounging by the pool after a massage and leisurely breakfast had been relaxing.  The water itself was refreshing, though Sharik made sure that she didn't over do it; recreation was serious business after all.  She'd always loved swimming, having plenty of experience when she was younger growing up on Gaargir.  She floated with ease as she took in the dome high above.

Pretty much all morning, Shar had been humming the base melody to an old six-part fugue, the catchy little tune had been stuck in her head from the prior evening when strains of it could be heard in the background during the auction.  And while stately and atmospheric there, when the auburn-haired astrogator used it ... well, it was a bit more evocative and sensual.  And played well with her rather mischievous and playful smile that remained plastered on her lips the entire morning.

Changing for lunch consisted mostly of slipping into slightly drier and still just as gauzy attire.  Over stretchy spandex tank top, Shar wore the gauzy tunic with puffy sleeves.  A knee length skirt covered her bikini bottoms.  And, of course, the lithe socialite still had her dizzying array of personal electronics with her.   Somehow, they remained fashionable, no matter what level of casualness Sharik was seeking.

With reservations already done, Shar pulled Indy along with her to the adjoining resort restaurant.  Ordering a fresh (hydroponically-grown) organic salad, some piping-hot bread, and another round of mimosas.  She sat down to consider what to have as a main entree and for dessert.  "What looks good?" the Longshot's navigator prompted her companion, though she was already eyeing the roasted groat with mango-pluot demi-glaze.

The samples were still being kept on ice, so it took two ice chests to hold them all. Valeska and Sylvester carried them while Serge provided bodyguard duty. There was nothing particularly conspicuous about the ice chests, and since Serge wasn't wearing heavy armor or carrying man-portable weaponry, the trip to the building to deliver the samples was uneventful.

The building was still on the starport, just on the edge of the business district.

Once delivered, the arrangement is finalized.

Jack will have to talk to Sir Walter about his share of the auction money.
