Creating your Character

Feel free to take a look at someone else' character sheet if you are stuck on how to create a character.

Here's a step by step!

1. Character name You can choose not to have a last name.
2. Basic Information
3. Assign your SPECIAL SPECIAL is a stat system we have for this RP, it will be explained below. Yes, if you are familiar with Fallout series, it is exactly the same.
4. Select an equipment package. Equipment packages are listed below.
5. Select two keys Consult the Character's Key thread.

Character Sheet

Name:
Race:  (Ethnicity)
Gender:
Occupation:
Age:
Height:
Weight:

S.P.E.C.I.A.L
Strength##
Perception##
Endurance##
Charisma##
Intelligence##
Agility##
Luck##

You have a total of 40 points to assign. You can not go over 10, and you must have at least 1 point in each attribute.
Here's a simulator to help you with the point distribution.
http://vault106.com/fallout-3-character-builder

Please note: Most people's stats will fall in the 3-8 range, so try to generally stay around there. Going below 3 or above 8 is allowed, but we ask that you have a good reason which makes sense with the character for such high or low stats.  We don't need a novel, just make it make sense, like Bob the Mailman probably isn't going to have 10 Strength, unless he was a professional wrestler or weightlifter or something before taking that job.

Derived Attributes
Health##
Carry##
Dodge##
Resolve##

Your health is determined by 10 + (Strength+Endurance)/2
Your carry weight is determined by (Strength + Endurance)/2 + Backpack
Your dodge is determined by 10 + (Agility+Luck)/2
Your maximum resolve is determined by 5 + Charisma
See 'Character Keys' thread for details regarding RESOLVE.

Inventory
  • Item 1
  • Item 2
  • Item 3

This is where you keep track of your inventory as the RP goes on. You can start out with a personal item. If the personal item is something petty, like a photo, it will not require Survival Units. However, if the item is something like a lighter, it will require Survival Units. Please choose one of the package from below.

  • Package #1 - Light backpack(2 carry), one light ranged weapon, 3 Survival Units
  • Package #2 - Heavy backpack(4 carry), one light melee weapon, 3 Survival Units
  • Package #3 - One heavy ranged or melee weapon, 2 Survival Units

Light backpack provides 2 extra carry space, Heavy backpack provides 4 extra carry space.

Discuss your weapon of choice with a GM.

Background: Self explanatory, go wild.

Appearance: Reminder there are no limit to how much you can type in here.

Personality: Short descriptions of these things are fine as well.

Character Keys
Character keys are personalities of your character. It is here to encourage you to role-play in character. As you successfully perform actions or choices that defines your character based on these keys, good things will happen!

Key of Example: A short description on how your character utilizes this key.
Key of Example: Or a a dialogue you created that would best describe them with having this trait as part of their personality.

Re: Creating your Character

Every player can select two character keys for their character. These are personalities that encourages the player to act in character while providing bonuses when they do so.

The key system

Each character will have two keys. When successfully playing out your character based on the key, for example, a character with a key of kindness decided to share some food to a stray starving dog, the character have 'hit' the key.

Hitting key

When a key is 'hit', depending on how well it is 'hit', you will receive key points. These points will add to your meter, which we will call it RESOLVE.

These points can be used anytime as a modifier to your roll. However, you are only allowed to spend 5 points or less for a roll.

You may also spend resolves to improve your dodge against the next incoming blow. Note that if you wish to do this, you must inform the GM ahead of time.

There are three stages of 'hitting' key. Hit, miss, fail.

Hit - When a key is hit, you will receive 1 ~ 5 RESOLVE.

Miss - When you miss a key, (you acted against your key, for example, stealing someone's jacket when you have the key of honest man) you will lose 1 ~ 3 points from your RESOLVE.

Fail - Fail is a sever case of miss a key. When you fail, you have downright acted against your key willingly. For example, saving someone's life when you have the key of betrayal. This will result in deducting 5 points from your RESOLVE, and in most cases, your character will no longer be eligible for that key, and will need to pick a new one.

How many points will be earned are based on a GM/Editor's evaluation of your character's performance when hitting a key.

Switching keys

Of course, sometimes character development calls for a key change. You will need to speak to your editor/GM directly on this matter. Present a good detailed argument why your character would be described better with the new desired key, or why would the key they have now be out of character.
