Re: "Doc" Woods - Chapter 4: Bad Moon Rising
"My caller ID says different, but obviously someone is being crafty. Have a good night ma'am."

I think I'll relax before the time comes. When it does get close, I think I'll go an hour early again, taking a cab. I'll scout around hidden and see what I can see. They can say no weapons all they want, but I have no intention of letting someone dictate my safety. If they were friends they would just level with me. I'll take the silver loaded pistol in the event of weres.

Re: "Doc" Woods - Chapter 4: Bad Moon Rising
The next night comes.  You load up your pistol with silver and head out.  When you arrive, you see three young men (mid-twenties) standing around the back exit.  One wears jeans and a Slayer shirt.  The second is dressed in black with shades on.  The last one id dressed geekily.  They're talking amongst themselves while the one in black fiddles with his tablet.  In the parking lot is a yellow van with "1337 Krü" spray-painted on it's sides in black.  Nothing else looks out of the ordinary.

If they are all that stands out, I may as well get a read on their auras.

Re: "Doc" Woods - Chapter 4: Bad Moon Rising
You get a definite impression of anxiousness from the nerdy looking one, a sense of frustration from the one in black, and boredom from the other.  All of them flicker and sparkle with the telltale signs of being mages.

I'm going to go away since I'm early and call the book store mage.

"Hey, I wanted to call you because I got told to come to the wax place at midnight with no weapons, and alone. Anyway, I came early to scout it, and there are three of your people hanging out here (I describe them). I figured I'd ask you about it, to see if they were friends or enemies of yours."

Re: "Doc" Woods - Chapter 4: Bad Moon Rising
"My thoughts exactly. You don't ask someone you have never meant to come unarmed and alone, and not tell them any info."

I'm gonna find something to make a note with. I'll wait around till the time comes, and see if it is these three as I think or if someone else shows up. If it IS these three I want to sneak up and stick the note on the side of their vehicle that's away from them.

Note Reads: Tell me what you want first, and I'll agree to meet with ONE of you. I left a note on your van, it could have been a bullet in your head. Play nice.

Re: "Doc" Woods - Chapter 4: Bad Moon Rising
You wait until 5 minutes before the appointed time, leave the note, and then simply leave.  Wherever you go, you get a phone call a half hour later...

"You didn't miss the meeting, but you missed the important part.  So, we've decided it's important that you hear the message anyway.  Don't trust Pareis.  She's not what she makes herself out to be.  If you want to hear more, come back to Tussaud's.  We mean you no harm and will be waiting."

With that, he hangs up.

I am against the idea, but at the same time I need to find out if this is true, or at the least get these guys to leave me alone if not. I'll head back there.

You get back to Madame Tussaud's and the same three guys are standing there waiting for you.

I mask up, and appear far enough away that I can hear them fine(with my ears up) and they can hear me fine if I raise my voice.

"This is as close as I'm coming right now. I can hear you fine from here, just talk normal and tell me what you want."

Re: "Doc" Woods - Chapter 4: Bad Moon Rising
The one in black does the talking for the group.  It's the voice you heard on the phone.

"Look, man, I can understand your being apprehensive and all, but we don't want trouble.  Like I said on the phone, man, Pareis is bad news.  She's got you duped.  I don't know what she told you, but she's evil, man.  Pure evil."

Re: "Doc" Woods - Chapter 4: Bad Moon Rising
I'll go a bit closer.

"Then why all this mystery and misdirection? She has dealt straight with me as far as what she is and what she wants. She has offered things and delivered on them. The three of you have been nothing but shady. You can see how these facts make me far more inclined to trust her over you. I would suggest if you want me to believe you, you come with some facts and quickly. Like who you are, why and how you are pursuing me, and what proof you have of your claims about her."

"I'm Lefty.  This here's Grimm," he points to the one in the Slayer shirt, "and the one with the coke bottles is Edgar and we're not following you.  We just know that Pareis has been duping you.  We've got a contact in her midst and he told us that you and she put down some dragon or whatever in the mine outside of town.  I don't know what she promised you in return, but whatever it was, it ain't worth it.  Now, as far as truth about it, I don't have any, but trust me, that Satanic bitch is up to something."

"The dragon was a threat and she helped me get to it. That was no deception, I felt it's blood on my face. You're not giving me much to go on here. You ask me to trust you despite you being nothing but suspicious this whole time...meet alone, no weapons, a fake number. Besides that, I paid her for her help already, my business with her is done."

"I'm really not sure that's any of your business. I thought you had a spy in her set up? Look, if you guys can't give me something concrete here to convince me of what you are trying to sell me on, I'm just going to walk away. Maybe what you are saying is true, but if so it's very unfortunate that you guys suck at convincing people. I don't know you, and I don't know her. She helped me destroy a threat to the people of this city, you called my phone anonymously and made demands...who am I going to side with?"

Re: "Doc" Woods - Chapter 4: Bad Moon Rising
"OK, lookit...  We had a spy in her midst.  She was killed in that mine raid.  Mary didn't deserve to die in the line of duty, but I know that sometimes things happen.  In this case, I don't think it was an unfortunate accident.  Nor do I think that she died at the hand of some mafia dude.  I think Pareis or one of her 'associates' killed Mary.  This is why we got in touch."

"Mary wasn't just my friend, she was my sister and I'm almost positive that Pareis took her out.  She was on to her and it was a convenient time to get rid of her inconvenience.  Mary was a good person, so if you want to play altruism as for that lindworm, you can, but I notice that none of the others died."

You can hear the sincerity in his voice and if you still have Aura Perception on, you can see both it and remorse rippling through him.

"If Pareis was such a good person, why didn't she help take out the lindworm for free?  Why did she make you pay her?"

Re: "Doc" Woods - Chapter 4: Bad Moon Rising
"She might have. I called her with an offer. I'm a vampire, and in my world no one does anything for free. (I'll approach all the way). Look, I'll level with you, I paid her in blood....my blood. I wasn't thrilled with the idea, but it was what she wanted, and I had no idea I could have killed that thing by myself. I'm sorry about your sister. So what are you suggesting I, or we do? I'm not saying I'm on board, but at the least I'll hear you out."

Re: "Doc" Woods - Chapter 4: Bad Moon Rising
"I'm not saying that we do anything.  Mary's dead.  Nothing can change that and I don't see the point in revenge.  Pareis is going to burn in whatever hell there might be no matter what I, or anyone else, does.  This might sound shitty, but we don't need any allies right now.  We just wanted you to know what you're getting into.  She's nice at first.  That's the way the Nephandi, sorry, Satanic mages that's what they're called, Nephandi, work.  They get you into their graces and get on your good side.  When they get what they want, they stab you in the face when your back is turned.  That's the nature of evil in general."

"And, I'm not telling you that you can't deal with her.  That's not my place.  All I'm saying is watch your ass around her.  She's a trickster and a temptress."

"I appreciate that. Still could have just said all this from the get go, but I guess you have to be all mysterious Gandalf style if you're a mage. She said she was a ....Solifacati though. Whatever the hell that is."

Re: "Doc" Woods - Chapter 4: Bad Moon Rising
"We didn't know if you could be trusted.  That's why the whole 'no weapons' thing.  I mean, honestly, you're dealing with an evil bitch.  It's a safe assumption to make to think that you might be evil as well, isn't it?"

"Solificati?  She might have been.  And she can still claim to be one.  Just because you become Widderslainte doesn't mean that you stop being whatever faction you belong to.  Either way, just keep a watchful eye and if you need us, just call."

He hands you a band flyer for 1337 Krü's next gig with a phone number scrawled at the bottom of it.
