Re: Chapter 1: Forgotten Things
Kraven Kor:
The video feed shows another dark-haired man with an unnervingly calm expression, holding the parabola of a nerve disruptor against the head of an amphibious humanoid of some sort.  "15 seconds."

OOC: Was this the guy who angrily smashed our communications Link?

OOC2: I don't understand. Did the Helmsman in question share that info with me or not?

In reply to Luke (msg # 157):

OOC: There is an open channel between the Wayward Son and Luke's Gunship at this point.  He's going to hear anything that happens on the bridge unless it's switched off.

Mir tried to catch Jenna as she fell, and immediately began to attend to her.  Not looking up, he said to Rondo, "Get us to that derelict ship.  Our path may take us close enough to the weapons platform to... dissuade... our pursuers.  Or if not, certainly disable them.  We'll have to be ready to completely shut down the power on this dropship in a heartbeat."

OOC: Yeah, but he muted comms, and shared the info holographically on his PAD. Could he do that with Luke while excluding others?

OOC2: Is the Auriga within weapons range of my gunship?

In reply to Kraven Kor (msg # 156):

As static pours out of the speakers, Rondo lowers his head and closes the comm channel to the now destroyed Auriga"Way to go, Tavi," he whispers.

Turning back to face the rest of the bridge crew, Rondo sees Mir tending to Jenna.  "Take good care of her, Mir.  We aren't going to be able to get out of this without her.  Helm, find that derelict ship and lay in a course to it.  It's our only chance to get out of here now.  You hear that, Luke?  We're making for that ship you mentioned earlier."

Yes, and Yes.  I have been assuming that all are in on the comms loop so far as the players.

In reply to Mir (msg # 159):

[Private to Mir:  You felt Tavi die; having been looking into her eyes moments before.  You can also tell there is now one less telepath in this system; you had still felt the lingering presence of the telepath behind Jenna and the Major's actions, and that presence dissipates the moment the comms cut out.  You think Jenna must have sensed that, too - while she is back to unconscious for now, you feel her mind is at rest.]

Well, I mean, *bits* of it are...  :D

No, you were still some 20-ish hours from encounter, the Wayward Son about 30.

Re: Chapter 1: Forgotten Things
In reply to Rondo (msg # 161):

Going to assume Luke shares the coordinates; the gunships have a sensor lock on it from his earlier sweep, while the dropships' sweep could not locate it - it is tucked into an asteroid.

Luke, depending on how you do this, you can beat them to the derelict, or run rear guard or merge with their orbit or whatever you feel is best.

The Helmsman sets to work.  "New course laid it, initiating burn.  We will be shifting momentum for the next...  twenty-two hours, then decelerating for encounter.  ETA fifty-seven hours.  If those interceptors stick to current thrust, they'll be in weapons range in...  seventy hours.  More if they are going to decelerate and match vectors with us."

----

About an hour from now the TSR Corvette, the RSS Walder Regan, will be again hailing you.  We can skip ahead to that once you all are sorted with this.

Mir will carefully set Jenna on a cot or some other appropriate, comfortable place, and then settle in for the long trip.

[Private to Kraven Kor: In terms of other matters, I think Mir is all set for now.  No new conversations to initiate, in other words.]

Can she tell us what shape it is in, does it have power/ Can it fire up engines before we get there, possibly navigate to our vector

Re: Chapter 1: Forgotten Things
Luke does share the coordinates. Along with info on what he disabled on the RSS Walder Regan. He also shares the technical/Ship IDs he got from the sweep of the incoming task force.

If he can approach the ship in advance of the others, Luke will reach the Alien ship first, and try to access it. If he can at least get some of the systems working, he can make the time docking with the Wayward Son soooo much easier.

Mir nodded. "The ship is fully functional, so far as I can tell, and if my guess is correct, the ship is quite... special.  Obviously, the Republic thinks so as well, considering the amount of resources they have brought to bear.

Mir asked, "Can the ship be woken, or Jenna?  Well, upon reflection, the answer to both is 'Yes.'; Jenna is fine - she just needs some time to recover."

[Private to Mir:  The alien AI seems to have been listening in still...

(TP from Alien AI) "Systems are operating at 78% efficiency.  Primary systems are online:  Life Support systems are operating at 99% efficiency.  Singularity Reactor 92%.  Primary Gravitic Drives 87%.  Weapons 81%.  Primary Force Screens 87%.  Secondary Propulsion 77%.  Hull Integrity, however, is only at 61%.  We have been here for a long time; auto-repair systems have depleted some necessary raw materials.  Secondary systems are mostly offline.

Re: Chapter 1: Forgotten Things
In reply to Luke (msg # 169):

Luke disabled most of the Regan's aft point defenses and forced it to waste some ordinance, and took out or stole a good chunk of their drones and their 2 gunships.

The incoming ships:

1 Liberty Class Cruiser, ID'd as the RSS Edward Rothschild.
8 Corvettes; 4 Jaeger Class, and 4 Mercury class interceptors.
2 Longbow Class Missile Destroyers
2 Winchester Class Heavy Beam Frigates

All seem...  modified.  Their signatures show some sort of ring structure built around them.

[Private to Jed:  I can not find, for some reason, the thread with your character background so I may be misremembering, but you served on Karak ships, yes?  If so, you recognize that.  Karak ships are built like that; the ring is their wormhole drive.  The TSR must have backwards engineered it - meaning they can now accomplish interstellar travel without the need of a jumpgate...]

Luke is ready for advancing the timeline. His sensory will be scanning for every erg of information he can squeeze from the alien ship.

He also tries to ID the Ring structure, based on anything he can pull from the Maco's memory files.

18:06, Today: Luke rolled 6 using 3d6 with rolls of 3,2,1. TSR Tactics 14-.
18:05, Today: Luke rolled 12 using 3d6 with rolls of 2,6,4. Ship Identification 14-.

Re: Chapter 1: Forgotten Things
When Jed looks at the data for the incoming TSR ships and their configuration, he inputs inquiries in order to confirm what he sees.

"Those rings on the TSR ships, that is Karak tech. Wormhole drive.

Now we know, TSR ships, these, can travel without Jumpgate tech
."

Re: Chapter 1: Forgotten Things
You flip on the comms to accept the incoming signal.  Star Commander Roman looms over the holo-emitter, looking decidedly angry.

"I'll have you know that Thurmond Stanislaw was a close personal friend of mine.  You will pay for this.  So, now what?  Abscond with our prize?  I think not.  That ship, as powerful as it may have once been, is a relic!  Board it, and we will destroy it, and you and all of your crew along with it!  You don't even know how to pilot it, how to work its weapons!  Do you think you can escape from our entire fleet?  To where?  Back to Obsidia Prime?  We have three battlegroups there even now, laying waste to your pathetic alliance!  Where will you run?  Back to the OAU?  They'll have you tossed out of an airlock for treason; we made sure of that.  Use your last hours wisely."

He flips off the comms.

[Private to Kraven Kor: oo(Fuck Thurmond Stanislaw, and fuck you, Roman.  You're on my shit list now.)oo]

"I'm very eager to spite that guy.  Let's get that ship and get out of here, and leave a nice bit of egg all over Roman's face in the process."

Re: Chapter 1: Forgotten Things
Chapter 2 is up and running.  XP voting - see the OOC thread, and I'll update XP log once all votes are in.

I will be closing this thread in a week or so; but please post in the new thread - archiving removes privacy, so if you want to take a look at all the private posts you missed, you'll be able to do so.  Please distinguish character / player knowledge so far as that goes.

Thanks!

Re: Chapter 1: Forgotten Things
On a tight beam to Wayward Son:

Rondo, can you send me a copy of what you tried to do to the Corvette? I'm planning on leaving a present for the first Battle Group following us, and I'd love to give them a surprise package, especially with my own spin on it.....

Meanwhile, Luke thinks through what he knows about Karak systems, trying to figure out if he knows how to temporarily spike their Jumpgate technology.

20:26, Today: Luke rolled 10 using 3d6 with rolls of 3,1,6. SYSops: Karak Electronic Warfare Systems 20-.
20:25, Today: Luke rolled 14 using 3d6 with rolls of 6,2,6. SYSops: Karak Environmental Systems 20-.
20:25, Today: Luke rolled 8 using 3d6 with rolls of 2,3,3. SYSops: Karak Weapons Systems 20-.
