One person's membrane is another's shimmering skin, I guess -- but (as I remember) the overall description is alot like the spell in the core book, and I think because Donblas made it, they added it in there as a spell of law.

Both Chaos and Law love to use their "anti-law" or "Anti-Chaos" membranes.
There were a few in the two towers, though then again they were inside of a being.
There was the membranes protecting the twin swords. The membrane holding the banished fire lord like Esyld said.

If i remember right there was a comment in one of the books that the YK was enveloped in a barrier that held the Chaos lords back, which was why it was so hard the first time. I THINK Arioch himself said it on their 2nd or 3rd meeting.

If I remember right when they went to R'lin K'ren A'a there were several crystalline portals in the two large buidlings (the eyes)

You can see the Game Designers loudly bewailing, "Why did the Author write it like that ?!!" and then tweaking the concept enough just to fit it into a logical rules system.  ;>

The time has flown and passed. Once more I want to congratulate everyone who made it another year.

However over noticed that we may have lost another soul. Not declaring anything but this heads back to what can i do to try and improve the game?

Esyld has not posted since November 3rd and has not logged in for almost two weeks

Oh, how sad....:(

Roughly this time last year they did disappear for a few weeks with a comment about not being back till after Christmas. This may be the same but there was no warning this time.

Not sure if I posted it here but I did get a new job at the beginning of this month myself. While my shifts are "worse" (according to my wife, though in reality the only difference between my new shift and the old is that I get to see my son FAR more often.) The job is 300% less stress for doing roughly the same thing.

I feel I have more time to sit at a computer (with my notes) rather than trying to deal with the game, at work, on my cell, without notes. I should be able to put more attention into my posting thanks to this.

If indeed Esyld is gone I'm going to keep the group as it is. I might open it up again, but I'm going to let the group be the deciding factor. In essence I'm going to let Democracy be the final say on the submitted Character. (YES I'll let the applicant know that in advance that they are going to be scrutinized by more than just me)

Well, I think you do a bang up job, especially considering how difficult things were going for you....:)

I had noticed that Esyld seemed to be posting less and less. Too bad. I really liked her character. Maybe she will be found again after the holidays.

I'm still hoping Esyld's absence is a temporary one too !  :>

But I don't think the player attrition is a reflection on how you've been running the game at all, just one of those things.  Had it myself in my games and seen exactly the same thing in most if not all of them ...

Basically comes down to advertising for new blood and having the time to put the effort into writing them into the plot and getting them up to speed, knowing in the back of your mind that one or more may end up dropping out anyway, through no fault of your own.

However, I heartily echo Angrboda - you've been doing a really great job, all the more impressive given your RL difficulties - I've certainly been loving every minute of it !   I don't think you need to change a damn thing ! ;>

This is a great game and I've had tons of fun playing mostly because of the GM and players.

There would always be players attrition, due to RL reasons and the very nature of Rpol. The fact we have a steady core group of four players is merit badge for you the GM.

While I wouldn't mind more PCs I don't see the added value, as Berta said, it would take a lot of effort to do so and there is a good chance (due to player attrition) that in a couple of months we'd be still without that player.

I think we are deep into the adventure, we have a lot of in-game history between the different PCs, so my vote would be to stick with the current group.

Sorry folks --   didn't mean to drop off the face of the earth (or the multiverse) -- it was mostly a situation of getting busy, thinking "I really need to drop in and do a post!" and then not doing so.

The last time I checked in -- honestly -- I was having a bit of a hard time understanding what was going on.    I'd planned to come back and do a more thorough back reading, but never got to it.

In general, I feel the GM has done a very creditable job of keeping an interesting story running over a very long period of time.    Something few GMs ever get to claim!
With such a long tale, some parts have interested me more than others, but that's only to be expected.

I will have time for some posts over the next week, but then after will likely drop out till after X-mas.    Will do a better job making it known I'm going to be away, when that's the case.

Thanks for the heads up, this time of the year is always busy for just about everyone.

As I said in a prior post, I know you had obligations last year, I was hoping that it was much the same. I, as everyone knows, have had my own issues simply trying to get logged in some weeks.

Nintendo Switch ... hah !   We've still got PS3 games we haven't unwrapped yet !  And more than a few PC games ... anyone remember Skyrim ?  :P  Still in the case ... the upside is I can buy really good games very cheaply ... and then add them to the pile of games I haven't got around to playing yet ...
