Greetings all !  Don't worry Eclair - Berta's intro had her set up with lots of information that the party needed, so I've been posting a bit more frequently than normal so as not to hold things up (before Viktor and Angrboda leave the place a smouldering ruin !) - plus it helped that I had a whole week off at home !  Yay !!  But back to work on Tues ... waah !

Ahh as for trap, the Pick Lock is a catch all.
Basically it is a "open the item without triggering the bad stuff if there is any"
Naturally any fumble auto activates any trap associated with it.
Particularly nasty traps/locks get a penalty for opening.

Dodge would be the after shock skill to ensure that it hits Viktor instead of you :)

Given your background, you could always petition the higher lords for help
