Jath Taynad: Thrill of the Hunt

Another client who wanted to go on "The Hunt."  A rich, pampered, well-off being who wanted the thrill of tracking and ultimately killing a great beast. And who no doubt would bring all the comforts of home into the wilderness.  Nothing says "hunting" and "stalking" like portable holo-coms, powered armor, gourmet rations, and returning to a ship each night to sleep in a comfy bed and staying out of the elements.  And THIS client even wanted to meet in a bar. It was almost like he was trying to check off all the elements on the "cliche" list.

But, it was good credits, and if he did not irritate or annoy too much it might even be somewhat enjoyable to be out on the hunt again. But first, the meeting in the bar filled with multiple species and types all looking out for their own agendas.

The man who was the client was easily spotted.  He was sitting at a table with 1 other person and seemed to be enjoying himself.  There were 3 empty shot glasses and a mug half filled with some liquid on the table. He was wearing an obviously brand new outfit, leather vest, dark wide-brimmed hat, shiny leather boots, and bulky weather-proof pants.  He had a blaster on each hip in a holster, and just oozed "trying too hard."

He looked up at Jath and smiled.  "You must be the expert! My guide to go kill one of them big beasties. We going to have a GREAT time!"

He motioned to one of the chairs across from him.

Re: Jath Taynad: Thrill of the Hunt

The bar was where powchers tended to hang out before a 'hunt' as well, so Jath had a habit of keeping track of those that should be in the wilderness and those that shouldn't. Survival was one thing, massacres were another.

"Expert. Yes. Did you have anything specific you're looking for, Mr...?" she stated, taking the seat with a purposeful posture. She folded her hands in front of her on the table, her large black eyes taking in the client's mannerisms. "And will your friend be accompanying us as well?"

Re: Jath Taynad: Thrill of the Hunt

He laughs at the questions and looks over at his companion.  The other man has the look and bearing of a bodyguard.  It takes a moment before you remember that many Nikto are used in the bodyguard service.

"Fyssr is my bodyguard. Where I go, he goes. After all, just because I hire you to take me to the big ones, does not mean you might try and cross me. And someone might try and kill me.  Not that they would get far with my skills."

He smiles largely and pats the almost-factory pristine blasters at his sides.

"And you can call me Rex. Everyone who knows how important I am does. And I think we are going to have a great partnership.  Now I want to find and kill something big. I mean really big. Something that will make those other losers jealous.  You think you can handle that?"

He smile again, but it was obvious he was being condescending.  Like he knew more and was talking down to an inferior.

Re: Jath Taynad: Thrill of the Hunt

What planet are we on? Would it be a Knowledge (Outer Rim) or (Xenology) to determine what creatures are here?

Jath looked blankly at Rex, her nictating membranes folding nearly invisibly over her eyes. "Crossing any client is bad for business, no matter who they are." she said, clearly unimpressed by his attitude. She eyed Rex's blasters when he patted them, speaking up. "Are those the only gear you intend to bring? Many creatures have grown accustomed to the technology sentients bring with them, recognizing anyone carrying it as a threat. The more you bring, the more difficult stealth becomes, and the more the price rises."

Re: Jath Taynad: Thrill of the Hunt

He looked down at his blasters then back up at Jath. "Well I have a few others I was going to take.  More for comfort then tracking.  I have some other weapons though if you think they might be more appropriate. I am a collector of weapons especially antiques. And exotic ones from different species. So I have a wide variety for you to choose from."

He sat back smiling, obviously trying to impress with his collection.  He had the look of someone who knows he is superior to his counterpart and can easily outwit them.

OOC:

It is Ord Mantell. And Either would work, but Xenology would be a more descriptive answer.

Re: Jath Taynad: Thrill of the Hunt

He's going to want a Savrip, isn't he? Difficulty for a Xenology check?

"You pay for my professional opinion, so I gave it. The choice however is completely up to you. I assume you are here for Gundarks? I have certainly seen some large ones, and can be quite dangerous when encountered near their nests." She said with a slight nod of her head. She would be impressed when he managed to wrestle a rancor with a impromtu fashioned spear. "We can leave whenever you're ready."

He laughed a little and took a swig of his drink before answering.  "I can go anywhere for gundarks.  Those things aren't exactly hard to find.  No, I come here for something BIG. Something worth my flying to this backwater world to kill. Something that would be honored to have me kill it."

OOC:

Savrip is good idea.  And no roll.  You can just pull up data from pretty much any datapad with that info.  And is well enough known that, as a hunter, you would know the general area they can be found.

Re: Jath Taynad: Thrill of the Hunt

Jath was about to speak, but decided against it. She didn't think anything would be 'honored' to be hunted by this oaf, but he was paying. "Very well. Let me know when you are ready to begin. There are rentals for mounts available on the edges of the city. Repulsorlift technology isn't reccomended as there are still areas of the wilderness that are mined from the war. They react... negatively to the repulsor fields, but the local wildlife has learned to avoid them."

I figure Varactyls or Dewbacks would probably be available for riding? I'm mainly going by what I remember of Ord Mantel in SWTOR. I'm guessing he's going to want a Savrip, despite being 'sentient'. Is there anything else that he might be interested in? I suppose hunting Savrips would put me on the road to Bounty Hunting.

Re: Jath Taynad: Thrill of the Hunt

"Ready? Hell I am ready right now. If you think you can find me something worthwhile, then we can get this hunt started!"  He slapped his hand on the table, loudly, and then stood up.  "What are we waiting for!?!?"

OOC:

That is a good idea on the transports.  I, too, am basing some of this off the SWTOR representation.  So glad to know you are on the same page.  Think of this guy as the big, mouthy, rowdy, obnoxious Texan from the Simpsons.  That is basically who he is.  And yes, Savrips work perfectly for him.

Jath stood as well, leading the way out of the bar. "If you transport whatever gear you need to the animal rental hub, I will meet you there. I have something in mind for you, but it will need to be discussed along the way. I assume you have local currency for the rental?"

Re: Jath Taynad: Thrill of the Hunt

"Yee haw!! Sounds like the start of a Great Hunt!!!"

He then turns and heads for the exit of the cantina with his servent just behind him.  As he gets near the exit, he is suddenly slammed into and knocked over by someone rushing forward and running into the bar.  He fell into a table and flipped it as he went down.  The man's blasters slid out of their holsters and skidded along the floor.  The individual that ran into him quickly grabbed one of the blasters and started looking around paranoid and pointing the blaster towards the door.

"Calm down, fool! You'll get someone killed." Jath shouted at the intruder, offering to help Rex to his feet. Still, his apparent paranoia could have reason, and Jath unfolded her bow all the same, ready to nock an arrow if the situation warranted it.

Hearing someone address him, the man with the blaster turned and looked at Jath.  "But they are coming for me!! There is one right behind me, and more behind him, and more behind him!!! They all want me and they are coming for me!!!"

He started waving the blaster around during his speech and his finger was dangerously close to the trigger.

OOC:

It would be very difficult.  He is paranoid and freaking out, and quite possibly drunk and/or on some type of drugs.  So I would say 2 difficulty.

Re: Jath Taynad: Thrill of the Hunt

The man with the blaster stared at the door and tensed up as a strange, blue skinned and red eyed individual entered the bar.  He immedietly raised and pointed the blaster at the newcomer.

"Why are you following me?!?? Who are you?!? Why are you chasing me?!? I didn't do anything to you!!!"

The blue skinned person slowly approached him and spoke.

"Am I to believe you think I followed you up the street and around the corner from one bar to the next. Are you on spice?! I left the previous bar because there was too much security for my taste. If you don't mind I'd like a drink "

"No way!!! I saw you talking to them!! They have been following me! I am not going that easily! I will shoot!!! I swear!!"

The troubled man held out the blaster, his hand trembling.

Re: Jath Taynad: Thrill of the Hunt

With the blaster weilding man's attention away from her, a swift strike with her bow across the back of his head landed with a satisfying THUD.

15:39, Today: Jath Taynad rolled 1 success, 1 advantage, 1 triumph using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 2A 1P 1D. Melee Attack on Paranoid. If he's just a minion, the Triumph should put him down, right?

The blue skinned individual remained calm and addressed the stressed man with his hands opened.

"Yeah I talked to a lot of people it's a bar after all. Also they, whoever they are, would still be here right and do you see them."

This distraction gave Jath the chance to rush forward and smack him on the back of the head with her bow.  The man made a groan of pain and collapsed to the ground in a heap. His blaster hit the ground and skidded into the crowd.  The man layed there groaning and not making any movement.

Once the threat was on the ground and groaning, the blue skinned individual stepped forward and looked at Jath.

"Well that didn't take too long at all, I need you to stand back, thanks in advance."

He pulled his binders out and began to handcuff the downed man while looking up periodically at the surrounding crowd.

"He was a danger to everyone here, though it would seem he wasn't quite as crazy as he appeared, was he?" Jath said, putting her bow back over her shoulder. "I don't suppose there is any compensation for doing your work for you?" she asked, helping Rex to his feet.

A smile crossed the blue skinned man's face as he cuffed both the hands and legs. He then searched him thoroughly.

"Normally no...Normally. You did do me a favor though, so here's 50 credits and his blaster. Thanks by the way. I wish it were more but times are hard for everyone, but i'm sure the blaster might fetch some nice credits." He looked the blaster over before he handed it over to the Nautolan.

Re: Jath Taynad: Thrill of the Hunt

"So you're a Bounty Hunter then." While the tone in her voice sounded indifferent, the tentacles that protruded from the back of her head wriggled; a tell that she was at least partially impressed. "Hrm. I've found creatures in the wild tend to have more intelligence than the various sapient species I've come across. Case in point." she said, taking the blaster and gesturing to the man the Bounty Hunter was currently putting in binders.

"Yes in the wild it's basic instinct, no greed to corrupt that. In some ways it a bit simpler." He stood up and nodded his head in agreement. He stored the other contents form in his bounty into his pack.

"Ok I have our mark how are things on your end," he said into his com link.
