"Attention passengers: We are 1 hour from dropping out of hyperspace around Balmorra. Be prepared for normal procedures."

The ship's audio clicked off and the normal background buzz of conversations returned to normal.  There were about 30-40 people on the ship, not including flight crew or droids.  It seemed most were business personnel or civilians flying back for family or other reasons.  Everyone seemed calm and going about normal business.

A droid walked over to the 3 Jedi and stopped next to their row. "Is there anything I can get any of you for the last portion of our trip?"

Jax looked at the menu in front of him and nodded, "Yes, actually. Could you bring me a Corellian Spiceloaf sandwich? Thanks!"


Jax looked at the other two, <blue>"Anything for you guys?"<blue>

In reply to Jax Nilar (msg # 2):

"I would like some Alderaan Ale if you have any."states Jido who is nervously looking around while trying to calm himself down for the landing.

The droid confirms each order and sends a message via its internal wireless to have them ready.  It then looked over at Maliq.

"And you, sir? Anything you like?"

After looking at the menu, Maliq shakes his head. "I'll just take a water."

The droid took all orders and returned a moment later with each request.  After handing the drink to the correct person, it then moved about its business.

Here is the time to talk about the mission, strategize, discuss plans, get to know one another, etc.  This is the "opening scene" of the Balmorra episode.  So feel free to do whatever you like here until you land.

Savoring the spicy burn after each bite, Jax chewed and said in a low voice, "So, initially we are doing a force assessment. How many Sith agents, and what are they trying to do, right?"

"Balmorra is run by the Ruling Families. Of those, Lord Deikun is currently the head. There would be a good place to start our investigation. Any Sith activity would have affected the families one way or the other." Maliq folds his arms, placing his hands within the opposite sleeves. "The government here is currently neutral but sells arms to both sides of the war. If they were to choose sides, it could drastically affect things. Sounds like enough motive for a Sith to be operating here in the first place."

"Once we find out where the Sith is we should move quickly to bring in the Sith.But we must use caution in dealing with the ruling families since the Sith might have already turned one or more of the families to her cause.Also she may choose to fight us when she has been caught she will not show mercy we must be calm when entering the fight or we may fall to the darkside." states Jido grimly to the rest of the strike team.

"This is your pilot. We have just dropped out of hyperspace and are beginning the landing procedures.  Please remain seated until we land. Thank you."

Just trying to move it along.  Make any final comments/requests you like before landing, then we will start the mission.

"This is your pilot. We have successfully landed.  Please begin to exit the shuttle in an orderly fashion."

The rear and front doors of the shuttle slid open, and the other passengers started to get out of their seats, grab any items they might have, and make their way towards the exits.

No responses from anyone, so we are now landed. Feel free to post your actions in the spaceport or the city itself.

Jax grabs his pack and heads out the door. "I'll catch you guys at the lodging in a bit. I'm going to go log our first update so they know all is well so far. Can I get you guys anything while I am out?"

Maliq stands and checks his person for all of his belongings. Exiting the behind Jax, he shakes his head in response to Jax's offer. "No thanks. I'm just ready to get the ball rolling. I'm assuming we will be headed off in the direction of Lord Deikun's residents? Maybe we can get a feel from him concerning the current situation."

A droid walks over as you are departing the shuttle.

"Welcome to Balmorra! I am official designated guide of the Balmorran Tourist Bureau. If you would like any directions or recommendations let me know. I am fully versed on all destinations, both business and pleasure, that any visiting individual might be interested in seeing.  I also have knowledge of the publicly held profit/loss records for the major corporations and information on the leading families."

"Can you take us to Lord Deikun? As representatives of the Jedi Order, we have urgent business to discuss with him."

"Yes, indeed, I can take you to Lord Deikun. If you follow me, I can get us to a transport and have us on our way momentarily.  While we travel, I can give you a history of the family and their holdings and the businessess they run if you like."

The droid began walking away from them and towards the other end of the spaceport.

Just as they pull away Jax yells, "I'll comm you when I am done, and then we can meet up"


Jax headed to a comm station and wrote up their initial report.

Calm trip to Balmorra, on planet now. Heading to make contact with Lord Deikun. Will continue to update


GM, can I make a computers check to do some research on Lork Deikun? Maybe looking for some less available info?

Sure go right ahead.  Depending on what you want to know will set the difficulty.  Normal, readily available inforamtion just make a check.  If you want more in depth, then add 1D.  IF you are looking for secrets, then add 2D.

Jax calls up some local databases and gets a strong background on the lord. Hmm, this should be helpful for Jido and Maliq, I'll forward this along.


The basic search done Jax tries to dig deeper, but largely isn't able to find much about hidden about his lordship.

For that advantage can I learn something that isn't directly about him, but could still be useful?

[Private to Jax Nilar: The basic search is just normal information.  Marital status, degrees, family name, photos of him at different events, some gossip about his sleeping around, comments about his fashion sense, and other data like that.

The deeper search does not come up with much beyond the usual, but it does reveal that he has only recently taken control of Balmorran Arms And Defense.  This was able to execute a takeover from this father, the powerful and until recently untouchable ruler of the Business Council (planetary government). This takeover was seen as a shock by many and rumors are swirling that Lord Casaval Andraticus Julius Deikun IV is making a play to usurp his father's position.  His father still has many powerful allies, on world and off, so this will be a tricky task.  Some rumors say that Lord Deikun the IV might have powerful off world backers to help him succeed in this dangerous power play.]

Jax's search completed he fired off a message to Maliq and Jido, ++Hey guys, I've reported in and done some research, on my way to meet you.++

The droid continued on and on about the family history of Lord Deikun and his position as CEO of Balmorran Arms and Robotics Technologies. It stopped once they reached the end of the platform and turned to look at Maliq.

".....reported they increased profits by a total of 0.00006% last quarter, which was on track based on the findings reported last year.  Here is where you can rent a transport that will take you anywhere in the city you would like to go. There are others that can handle longer planetary based transports, if you would like to visit other cities or regions on the planet. From here you can either rent a transport or hire one to take you to the headquarters of Balmorran Arms and Robotics Technologies."

There was a small enclosed pathway that lead outside the spaceport to the street outside.  There were a number of local transports, ground and aerial based, that could take one to any destination in the city.

Maliq pays close attention to what the droid says concerning Lord Deikun and his company while trying to stay conscious of any unusual tremors in the force. "Thank you for the information. I think we'll rent an air speeder?" He looks to the other Jedi for any objections.

Jax had started to wander back towards the spaceport after sending his message and doing some research. As luck would have it, he saw Maliq and Jido walking out of the spaceport with a guide droid just as he approached the entrance.

"An airspeeder would be good, how about one with a closed roof."

"I see nothing wrong with renting a speeder with an enclosed roof since it will protect us from any unwanted attention.Jax while we fly could you appraise me on what the weapon choice of the Sith was when you fought her last."Jido says grimly.He thinks to himself if the Sith is in league with this Lord Deikun or if they are both Sith this was going to complicate the mission more than it already was.Jido proceeds to center himself on the Jedi code in anticipation of the coming fight.

"Yes, that was my thinking as well."

"Yes. An airspeeder with a closed roof would serve us well. Can you show us to a suitable model?" Maliq again folds his arms across his torso with his hands tucked into the sleeves, thinking to himself; assessing the possibilities, probabilities, and inevitabilities of the upcoming encounter with Lord Deikun. Is he friend, foe, or neutral? Is he ignorant to the probable threat? Not likely. You don't become a "Lord" by being out of the loop. And you don't become successful in interstellar business without accurate and timely intel. So it's only safe to be cautious. Maybe he shouldn't be told exactly why the Jedi have arrived on Balmorra... His thoughts trail off. "We should be careful what we say in public. You never know who is listening. We can discuss things at a hotel. Speaking of hotels..." Maliq turns to the droid once more. "Where can we secure a room close to the Balmorran Arms and Robotics Technologies headquarters?"

The droid took a step back and reponded in an apologetic tone.  "I apologize, but all hotels near the BART headquarters are either on hold or rented currently. With the party Lord Deikun is holding tonight, there are very few places avaiable in the center of the city. If you are willing to travel some, there are some cheaper places available on the outskirts of the city."

It turned to the speeder rental stand and pointed an arm at a mostly empty lot.  "The same is with the speeders.  Many are rented for tonight's gala and therefore are not currently available.  I can have one brought forward for you if you like from the remaining stock."

"I guess we don't have much of a choice but to take advantage of what's available." Maliq sighs and shakes his head in a display of inpatients and frustration. "Yes, please. Show us what airspeeders you have in stock. Also, where is this party being held?"

The droid points to a mostly empty lot with only a few speeders left.  "There is the available stock.  There might be other dealers with more, but these are the best you can find. The party tonight is being held in the Grand Operatic Hall. It is a gala to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the founding of Balmorran Arms and Robotics Technologies."

"Then we'll take that one." Maliq points to a random airspeeder, anxious to get started on the matter at hand. The speeder was a dark, metallic grey with not many notable features. Just something to get from point A to point B. Again he looks to his partners for any objections. "We still have to find somewhere to stay during our visit." He shakes his head. "Probably something we should have done before we arrived." And then to the droid. "How much for the speeder?"

"You can rent a speeder for 250 credits for the week. Just make sure to bring it back on time an without any damage in order to get the full deposit of 75 credits returned."

"Thank you. We'll take it." Maliq starts heading toward the speeder but pauses. "When does the party start"

"The party starts at 7pm Balmorran standard time."

"Do you need an invitiation for the party or is it more of an open celebration? We'd love to pay a visit and express our congratulations on this historic accomplishment."

"The party is closed to the company personnel and their esteemed guests. You must be on the list in order to attened the event."

"Then I guess we'll have to head to Lord Deikun's office and make sure we're on that list."

"Lord Deikun is currently unavilable. His next available appointment is for tomorrow at 10am."

"Well then I guess we'll just have to wait until then." Maliq shoots a glance at his partners, hoping they understand. "Thank you for your services."

"Very well, sir.  Just the speeder then?"


[Private to Maliq: You should REALLY find a way to attend the event.]

"Yes, thank you." Turning once more in the direction of the speeder after handing the payment to the droid, Maliq pauses. "How, exactly, would one gain an invitation to the gala?"

"The only way to get an invitation is to be an employee, relative, or noble. There are other invites that you could get, but they need to come from one of the lords. And I believe only Lord Deikun or Lord Zabi can still extend an invitation. Both of them are currently involved in a council meeting at the statehouse and will not be available until shortly before the gala."

"One last question before we leave. Who are all the Lord's here on Balmorra?"

"Including all minor houses and honorary titles, there are currently 173 individuals with the title of "Lord" currently on file. Would you like an oral listing of each lord, their full title, lineage, and current displomatic relations?"

"That won't be necessary. If you could transfer it to a datapad that would be best."

The droid pulled a small datachip from its right forearm.  "All the requested data has been copied to this datachip. Let me know if I can be of further service."

Jax shook his head, "No, that won't be necessary. Thank you. You're dismissed."


Once the droid left he turned to Maliq and Jido. "So which of you is the better pilot?"

"I'm not an expert or anything but I know my way around a simple airspeeders."

[Private to Jido Draji: The spaceport seems busy, and there are many people roaming around. Most are human, and seem to stare at you oddly.]

"It seems someone has taken an interest in us. We're being watched." Maliq keeps his eyes on the traffic while he speaks. "What are your thoughts concerning the situation?" He asks his comrades as he heads toward Lord Deikun's office.

Jax nods at Maliq, "I agree, I sensed extra scrutiny on us back there. Perhaps we need to take a less direct angle to this..."

"So, you think we shouldn't head straight to Lord Deikun's?"

Sure, let's do it

The built-in map on the speeder leads you to the heart of the city.  Here the buildings are massively tall. Not as tall as the ones on Coruscant, but they dwarf the surrounding cityscape.  One of the tallest buildings, as well as one of the flashier ones, has a sign outside stating: "Balmorraan Arms and Robotics Technologies."

The planetary directory says this is the office of Lord Deikun, CEO of B.A.R.T.

Although there were obvious differences, the building reminded him of the first time he laid eyes on the Jedi temple. The structure was enormous. The design was elegant, exuding power and prestige. "This is the place. Hopefully it will help put us on the right track." Maliq checks his equipment upon exiting the speeder and heads for the door after waiting for his partners to do the same.

Jax grabbed his cloak and made sure to activate the speeder's security system as they left. Can't be too safe on a foreign planet with a rental, he thought.

A gleaming gold-colored receptionist droid stood just inside the doors and greeted the 3 as they entered.

"Greetings, gentle beings! I am BAPRD-78341, the designated receptionist for Balmorran Arms and Robotics Technologies. How may I assist or direct you today?"

There were other droids walking back and forth inside the reception area, and other lifeforms moving about the hallways that branched off. All the organics wore normal bussiness-like attire and no one really paid any attention to the 3 visitors.

The inside of the building was even more impressive than its exterior. Maliq takes a moment to look around, taking in the layout and design of the lobby and the beings therein. He looks to his partners to see if they have anything they want to say to the droid before responding himself. Then remembering that it was his idea to come here in the first place, he asnwers the droid.
"Hello. We are here to speak with Lord Deikun concerning an urgent matter. Please just let him know that his guests have arrived."

"Lord Deikun is in a meeting at the moment. And his schedule is booked for the rest of the day. If you would like to come back at a later date, I can schedule a meeting for you."

"I dont think you understand. We need to speak with him. Notify him that the representatives from the Jedi Order are here and require an audience with him. He will understand."

The droid did not seem moved by the statement. "Lord Deikun is busy and cannot be disturbed. I can arrange a meeting with him in 2 days."

"Thank you." Maliq starts to speak again, but decides its better to leave it alone and turns to walk away from the desk. Then speaking to Jax and Jido, "We need to find a way to that gala, one way or another. Any ideas?"

Seeing the beings standing around the lobby, a Twi'lek woman in a slightly revealing business suit walks over to them.  "Is there something I can help you with? The droid tells me that it has already informed you that Lord Deikun is busy. But you have not yet left the building. I take it you have something else you wish to discuss?"

Jax turns to the woman, "We've just arrived on planet for the gala, but have just discovered that our names were left off of the guest list. We were hoping to rectify that before the party."

She nodded her head, and then looked them over again.  "Oh, I see. That is distressing news. And something that is not acceptable.  Give me your names, company name, titles, and current trading contract numbers. I will look you up in our database and see what is causing this confusion."

Jax exudes calming feelings toward the Twi'lek, "We aren't corporate affiliates, we are with the government of the Republic. We were hoping to pay our respects to Lord Deikun and all the great work he has done."


Jax is able to make her feel friendliness towards us.


12:41, Today: Jax Nilar rolled no successes, 1 light force point using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 1f. Influence basic power.

The Twi'lek woman continued to smile, but it seemed to get a little less sincere.

"Well, we are an independant world. That means we do not owe affiliation with either the Republic or the Empire.  And something like this would normally go through diplomatic channels. I do not remember seeing any diplomatic requests from the Republic for a meeting with Lord Deikun."

Maliq feels his impatience and frustration starting to show and takes a deep breath to calm his nerves, hoping that it's subtle enough to go unnoticed. "Yes. We understand. We're not here to challenge your neutrality, but to participate in the celebration of Lord Deikun's accomplishments." Maliq tries to stop there, but the words just keep flowing. His irritation has gotten the best of him. "We just find it a little unsettling that he would insult the Jedi Order and the Republic by denying us entry to his event." Once again he regrets the statement as soon as it leaves his lips and it is noticeable.

The womans smile all but vanishes and hers eyes narrow at that last comment. "Lord Deikun would never wish to insult the Jedi Order OR their masters the Republic. But this IS a private affair, one that is taking place on a planet outside the Republic. Therefore you have no authority here, and if he does not want to invite you, then he will not."

She pulled out a datapad and started typing something.

Jax extends his arms, hands facing up, in a gesture of calm. "I apologize for my partner's insinuation. We've had a long trip out to Balmorra, and we could use a rest. I know that his lordship's receptionist droid said he had no time for meetings, but is there a chance you could secure us a few minutes of his time? He may not have been aware that Jedi representatives were interested in attending."


Can I make a charm check to try and sway her? Could I have a boost for my earlier use of the Force to plant at least a somewhat positive impression in her mind, but also a setback for Maliq's outburst?

OOC:

Yes you can. Make a charm check, and get 1 boost from the force die roll earlier and a setback due to her current disposition.

What difficulty? Charm is opposed by Cool

OOC:  I like it. Finally see some emotion and I get to stop being nice and neutral.  I am just working on the proper response now.   Spoiler: It is NOT going to work in your favor.

The Twi'lek woman took a step back, away from the assembled Jedi. Her face turned from marginally cheerful into one of annoyance and anger. Her lekku, which were not active before, began twitching and curling up close to her neck.

"He may not have known the Jedi wished to talk to him before, but he is aware now. And the droid was correct. He is VERY busy. For Jedi and non-Jedi. In fact, ANY Republic representative would not have a time slot to meet him. Now, gentlemen, I need to go assist Lord Deikun with his party tonight. Can you find the exit of the building? Or should I have one of the droids show you the way?"

She tapped a button on the datapad, and a section of the far wall swung away. Behind the wall were 2 security droids. They activated and took a step forward. One began to raise an arm that looked to have a blaster rifle barrel where its hand should be.

Maliq is furious. He takes two steps back, removing his hands from their opposite sleeves so they hang at his sides. His head lifts slightly, making his chin level to the ground. "Well at least now we know where you stand concerning the Republic. Your hostility will not go unnoticed." As Maliq turns to head for the door, he stops and turns back. "And if that's all you have between Lord Deikun and his enemies, you might want to think about a good successor for him. The Sith are not as nice as we are." He turns and walks to the door, not waiting for his friends.

The woman laughed upon hearing Maliq's threat.

"Is that all you have?!? Empty threats and raised voices? If that is all you Jedi can offer, it is amazing your order still exists. As a courtesy to your Republic, we will allow you to leave the building on your own power. However, do not take our kindness as a sign of weakness."

She hit another button, and 2 more wall sections slid away allowing 4 more droids to step forward.  Additionally, 4 security guards walked out of one of the hallways and paused at the entrance to the room.

Jax turns to the Twi'lek, "Again, I'm sorry for the conduct of my partner. We'll leave on our own. Sorry for the disruption."

Jax jogs to catch up to Maliq and whispers ^{"Maliq, we need to go now before this gets any worse. Please hold your temper until we are back in the speeder."}

"And Its not a threat. We mean you no harm. It's a warning. We are not after your allegiance." Maliq turns around for the last time and points his finger at the Twilek. "But the Sith, undoubtedly are. Given their track record and without help, if you try to maintain your independence against them, they will crush you just to make an example out of you. But that's not my problem. I just wanted to go to a party." He smirks after his last statement and and exits the doors

The security forces watched to ensure the 3 Jedi left the building immedietly.

As they walk back to the speeder, Jax runs other ideas thought his dual brains, "Perhaps one of the other major families might be more amenable to our approach... Maliq, you seemed to have the most background on Balmorra, any ideas on who to approach?"

You notice an increased presence from the last time you were outside the building. In fact, it seems as if a few drones are tracking your movement.

"Looks like Lord Zabi is next on the list."

"Sounds good. I'll take lead this time. What should I know about him and his organization?

"I dont know much about him beside his name. Im sure that theres public information about him though. Lets check a database and find out something about him. We also need to find our exactly who is keeping tabs on us and why. Im sure you've noticed the drones."

Whoever is looking for information, give me a roll. I want to see how much public vs private data you can find.  If using computers, do computer check.  Otherwise, if you are asking around, do a streetwise check. Bascic, public information 1 Difficulty.  Private, sensitive information 3D.

The data is pulled up and appears on the screen:

"The Zabi family was once the ruling family on Balmorra with the most profitable company and the majority of control over the planet's governing body.  This changed about 10 years ago when the now deceased Lord Lucious Zabi died due to complications from old age.  His rival, Lord Anaval Yazen Amar Zum Deikun staged a coup and was able to take over control of the Ruling Council and Balmorran Arms and Robotics Technologies during the instability that followed.  Since then, The Zabi family has been mostly outed from day-to-day governing and corporate operations. They are rarely seen in public these days."

Maliq takes his time rummaging through the information the computer terminal displays. Though not much of a computer whiz, he finds it quite simple to navigate. Maliq shares his findings with his partner, Jax.
"Looks like it might be easier to deal with this Lord Zabi than with Lord Deikun. What do you think?"

Jax is still mulling all the new information in his dual brains, "It would seem that while Deikun had nothing to gain as he is already on top, Zabi lost his spot as the top dog, and might be looking for allies."

"My thinking exactly. How do you want to do this? I know last time wasn't the smoothest of operations on my part but this time let's do this the right way. With a plan."

"Let's see if we can dig a little deeper for better intel on this one."

OOC:  Wow.  Ok.  Going to need time to think up this answer. Should have it up by tomorrow.  I take it you are planning to meet him?  In that case, want to just post the looking for him and I Can fill in the search results later?

And those threats, in addition to Maliqs, are going to REALLLLLLLLLLLLLY hurt.

The results will tell you he is most likely at his family's mansion outside the city.  Normal security for a billionaire who is in exile.

A deeper search into the Balmorran databases reveal that Zabi lives in a mansion at the outskirts of the city. Since his family has lost influence he has taken to being a bit of a hermit, largely remaining on the compound.

"It looks like he should be at the Zabi compound at the edge of town. Let's stop circling the city streets and head that way. With any luck we've lost some of those drones in these dense streets."

In reply to Jax Nilar (msg # ):
"Sounds like a plan." Maliq adjusts his course, heading to Lord Zabi's compound.

Outside the city proper, in a more residential district, a large mansion appeared at the top of a hill.  It was well back from the main road and there was a large gate that was closed at the edge of the street.  2 large guard droids stood on either side monitoring all traffic.  A smaller droid, about normal human height, stood in between and by the gate controls.

In reply to GameMaster (msg # 115):

"Droid,may we pass we have business to conduct that will profit your master." states the Zabrak as he exits the speeder.

The 2 large droids turn their bodies and weapon systems on the Jedi.  The smaller droid looks at all 3 before speaking.

"Please state your name, corporate affiliation, planet of origin, and reason for visiting. A scan of your faces does not reveal any appointments or meetings scheduled. For security reasons you must be scanned and entered into the database before proceeding."

As Jido talks to the droids near the gate, Maliq still feels pretty uneasy about the drones that have been following them. He keeps his head on a swivel, periodically checking for any of them or anything else that might be tracking them.

I'm assuming that would be a perception or vigilance check?

Perception.  Or vigilence. I will let you use whatever is higher.

Maliq notices a few drones hovering around that seem to have an interest in the 3 Jedi.

While Maliq eyes the drones, Jax advances on the droids, "Greetings, is there an organic receptionist we can meet with? Our visit is of a sensitive nature."

"Yes, there is an organic receptionist. But if you are not on the list, or do not have an appointment, then you are not allowed on the grounds. You can schedule an appointment now if you like."

Jax looks at the others and nods, "Yes, I would like to do that. Is there a slot open in the next little bit? While not critical, our meeting should be of interest to your bosses."

"There is an appointment available 3 days from now at 14:30 Balmorran standard time."

The droid pauses for a handful of seconds before continuing.  "To set an appointment, I need your name, corporate id, preferred trading number, planet of origin, and any other business dealings with companies from Balmorra."

Maliq sees the situation heading down a familiar course, as is his attitude concerning it. "I'm going to check out our...friends over there." He makes a slight gesture in the direction of re drones, thinking It's better to leave this discussion to his fellow Jedi. With that being said, Maliq makes for the direction of the drone in the most inconspicuous way he can.

There seems to be at least 3 drones following you. One seems focused on each of you. As Maliq breaks off, one of the drones seems to move to follow him.

Jax fights to keep his cool as he is given the same runaround. "I am Jax Nilar from the Jedi Council. We've not had other dealings on planet, but would like a meeting with his lordship before the gala. He could be in danger and not know it. Is there a slot we could sneak into, or something less pressing that could be pushed to another time?"


Can I try a charm check or something on the droid?

Noticing only the singular drone following him, Maliq looks for a secluded place where he can lure it and hopefully disable it. Maybe he can figure out who it's been transmitting to. In the meantime, he takes another closer look in it's direction, hoping to discover any distinguishing marks or anything to help decipher it's owner or origin.

Charm check, sure. But it is a droid, it is going to be very hard. 4D.

The droid stood firm and repeated its comments from earlier. "Lord Zabi is busy and does not accept meetings with anyone who has not previously scheduled an appointment. IF you would like, I can setup an appointment for you to discuss the matter. There is a...."

The droid suddenly stopped talking for a moment before continuing. "I have been informed Lord Zabi will see you. An escort will arrive momentarily to escort you."

The two guardian droids turned their weapons away from the 3 Jedi and after a few moments an older human male approached. He had the look of an experienced bodyguard. "Follow me and I will bring you to your meeting."

Maliq stepped aside and looked for one of the drones.  He was not successful in capturing one as they were flying out of reach.

[Private to Maliq: You get a feeling of danger from the force. Looking around you notice a figure dressed all in black, in the shadows, that seems to be observing you.]

Maliq reaches for his comlink and contacts the rest of the team. ++"I think I may have found our quarry.I'll continue to monitor but I may need assistance in the near future."++

His first instinct is to confront the pursuer but knowing his mission objective is only to observe and report and with much trepidation, he reaches out with the force to discover if this being is the Sith they've been searching for and if they brought friends. ]

Maliq spoke into his comlink, but only heard a staticy noise coming from it. There was no response from either of his fellow Jedi.

[Private to Maliq: Your inital sense of the individual is cloudy. Uncertain if the person is light or dark. It feels like they are cloaking themselves to be harder to read.]

Jax walks with the guard, "Thank you, I'm glad his lordship is able to meet with us."

The guard looked him over and grunted. "This better be a legitimate meeting. If you are here for another one of Deikun's games, I will throw your ass out now. Jedi or not, I do not care."

As they walked towardds the main house, another guard droid appeared near the front door to block their path.

Jax nods solemnly, "It is indeed a legitimate meeting. We would not waste his lordship's time with trivial matters. Furthermore we are not envoys of Deikun, we come of our own accord."

"If you are not here for Lord Deikun's biddings, then my lord might be happy to see you. Depends on your agenda."

He lead them past the guards at the front door. They opened the doors, and he led the Jedi into a receiving room where a human male in his 30s wearing a well-tailored suit sat behind a desk. He nodded to the guard, and the doors were shut behind them.

"You must be the Jedi who requested my audience. May I inquire about your business?"

Jax gives a shallow bow. "Yes, we are. I am Jedi Knight Jax Nilar, this is Knight Jido Draji. We're here on behalf of the Jedi Council to investigate a potential invasion on Balmorra."

"An invasion?  What are you talking about? Your jedi are the only 'invasion' that I am aware. Otherwise there are no Republic representatives on the planet."

He seemed a bit annoyed. At you, or your presence, or the entire situation. Not easy to tell.  He stood across from you in the entrance hall and made no move to step aside.

Jax attempts to maintain a calm demeanor, "Through Jedi intelligence resources, we have learned that the Sith Empire may be attempting to violate Balmorra's neutrality. We were sent to investigate this claim. Do you have any pertinant info?"

Lord Zabi looked at the Jedi in front of him and shook his head.  "No, I have no idea of any Sith manipulation. I have never heard of anything like that happening here. We have always been a neutral planet and maintained our neutrality through the many wars waged by your Republic over the past thousand years."

He seemed shocked and even annoyed that he was being accused of working with the Sith.

Jax holds his hands in front of him, attempting to calm the baron. "It appears that I have misspoken. I'm not accusing you or any of your peers of actively conspiring with the Sith. Theirs is the way of manipulation, infiltration, and decay. They would likely try to play the existing powers on Balmorra against each other, and then swoop in when all are weakened.

To that end, our Order suspects that they might be in action at the upcoming gala. It is an ideal time for them to strike due to the attendance of so many influential Balmorrans. We would like to ask if you could add us to the guest list under false names to attempt to sniff out their plot."

Would I be able to make a discipline check to see if he is lying to me as well?

Lord Zabi stared at you for a moment, then gestured to one of his bodyguards.  The man leaned his head down and spoke quietly into a comlink.  Suddenly, one of the doors in the back opened up.  Zabi turned and began walking towards the room.

"I cannot add you to the guest list. As it is not my party, I do not have that authority. What I CAN do, however, is bring you along as part of my entourage. You see, I share your concerns. I believe the Sith ARE here and they are working to manipulate my peers."

He entered the room, then turned to face his guests when he got behind a desk.  He pushed a button and a wall panel slid away, and a monitor appeared.  He hit a few buttons on the screen on his desk and an image appeared. It was of 2 humans in Sith Imperial uniforms. They were walking into the spaceport before vanishing into the crowd.

He looked up at the Jedi as the doors closed behind him.

"I apologize for the reception, but I had to make certain you were not Sith yourself. After all, to us non-force sensitive types you are hard to distinguish from each other. This here was taken just over 2 weeks ago. Those 2 seem to be Sith soldiers of some kind. Now it is possible they are here on personal business. Or maybe vacation. Maybe they are even here for a romantic getaway. But honestly, as much as I love my planet, it is not known as a tourist or vacation hot spot."

He paused to let the information sink in to his guests.

"I am being a horrible host. Can I get you anything? A drink maybe?"

After the run around they'd been through earlier there were few things Jax could do with more than a drink, "Yes, a drink would be welcomed, do you have any lomin ale? I can appreciate your caution, though it certainly made our life no easier. This is good intel you have, could we copy it to our datapads to add to our findings?

I agree with your analysis, uniformed Sith are unlikely here for anything but business. Are these the only images you were able to capture? I might have an idea of how we can expand the search..."


Could I make a computers check to create a program to scan security footage for Sith uniforms?

Lord Zabi pushed a few more buttons, and a hard copy of the image was printed out. He handed it over to Jax.

"Unfortunately, yes. We were unable to capture anymore images, and even searching the city has produced no results.  There was a rumor of some Sith activity this morning, but I have been unable to confirm that."

Just then, a message came through on the Jedi's comlinks:  ++I'm back at the front gates and I've had a sighting of what I believe to be the Sith we've been looking for but I've lost visual contact.++

Jax spends a few minutes sipping his drink and typing on the datapad. Eventually he realizes that he doesn't have enough clear photos of the uniform to create a program to ID them on the recordings.

15:30, Today: Jax Nilar rolled 2 failures using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 3d 1c 4a. create uniform ID program.

Jax is unable to create a program due to lack of data.

Jax puts his datapad down, takes a sip and looks to Zabi, "Lord Zabi, I wasn't able to create the program. The images don't have enough data, even combined. We may need to do this in a more manual fashion. Furthermore, an associate outside has indicated that there may be Sith attempting to gain access to your compound. As this is your home I'm happy to take your lead, but I do have an idea or two."

Lord Zabi looked at his security chief before looking back at Jax. "A sith is trying to gain access? Why would they do that? And what proof do you have?"

Jax replays the transmission before replying, "My apologize, I may have misspoken, a fellow Knight is near the gate to the compound and spotted what he believes might be Sith agents. I'm not certain that they are attempting to gain access. Would you or your security chief like to speak to him directly?"

Jax offers the commlink to both men.

++Theres no sign of him now. He seems to have disappeared but I'm sure we'll run into the Sith again soon.++

Lord Zabi looked to his security chief. "Bring in their ally. The less he is seen outside the better."

He turned back to Jax.  "I believe that you are not plotting against me. And that Sith threat might be credible for tonight's proceedings. And as much as I despise the Deikuns, I will not let the Sith step in and cause my planet to fall to chaos."

"I'll comm him to alert him to your security's intention. He can be a bit jumpy at times. One second please."


Jax steps to the corner and whispers to Maliq, ++Zabi's security is going to bring you to me. Please cooperate.++


Stowing his comm link and returning to Zabi he continues, "Does your lordship think that Deikun is allying himself with the Sith, or could he be a mere pawn in their grand scheme?"

Lord Zabi was quiet for a moment then looked up at Jax.

"The Elder Deikun is too smart to fall for the Sith. He waited almost 25 years before setting his plan in motion that led to my father's downfall. If he would wait all that time to gain power, he would not easily let it go. However, he is mostly retired these days. His son,  Casaval, is another story. He is rash, pompous, and believes his is THE greatest person on the planet. He would be bold and stupid enough to throw himself in with the Sith. And screw our entire planet in the process."

He sighed and lowered his head, leaning over his desk.  He looked up after a moment at his security chief. "Get my family to safety. If our new Jedi friends are correct, then things can go bad VERY quickly."

"That seems prudent, but please ensure that their departure is discreet. We can't afford to tip our hand before the time is right. Also, does your lordship have a secure uplink I can use. While we wait for Maliq to join us, I'd like to file a report with the council, in case they decide backup is needed."

Zabi looked at the security chief, and the chief nodded his head.  "Yes, in my private office. Not this one." He grabbed a datapad from his desk and then walked around to stand next to Jax.  "We can go to the secure office underground. From there we should be able to get an encrypted link to the holonet."


The guards opened the door and ushered them out into the hallway, then towards the secure office.

Jax nods and follows the cheif and Zabi to the underground office.

Once they reach the underground office, the security chief runs a few scans before letting the others inside. "Everything is clear. Room is secure. The holonet link is over there."

"Thank you." Jax sits at the terminal and pulls up the Order's reporting service.

++OP UPDATE - BALMORRA

Knight Jax Nilar reporting in, with an update to an earlier transmission. We have made contact with the Zabi family after a failed attempt to communicate wtih the Deikun clan. Zabi's security force spotted what they believe to be 2 Sith agents (image attached), Knight Maliq may have spotted one as well. Also note, when we left Deikuns it seemed that we were being monitored by drones. I will continue to send any data as we gain it.

The message received a note that it had been received at the Jedi Temple.

Maliq greets the security personell that approach him with a bow and follows toward the compound. His mind still dwells on the shadowy figure he sighted and he wonders what mischief they have planned on Balmorra. If only I could have gotten a better look at him." Maliq chides himself for allowing his prey to elude his grasp. We'll find them and we will stop them, whatever their plan.

Maliq is escorted to the secure office.  Once there, Lord Zabi looked up at him then over at Jax.  "Is this your associate?"

Jax nods and gestures between the two. "Lord Zabi of Balmorra, may I present Jedi Knight Maliq of the Jedi Order? Maliq, this is Lord Zabi, who has graciously shared his intelligence with us."

Lord Zabi nodded his head at Maliq. "I apologize my hospitality is not what it should be today. But we are a little pressed for time. If you want to make that gala tonight. It is in a few hours and there are a few things we need to do beforehand."

"Where do we start?

"We start here. But we must find attire suitable for you.  I can bring a total of 5 others with me.  One will be my wife, of course. And my head of security. Redden will not allow me into that den of vipers without him at my side.  The other 3 spots I am willing to bring you along.  But, we will need covers.  Tell me, what skills or abilites can you fake well enough to fool those at the party?"

He looked down and pulled out 6 disks from a drawer.  They all had a smiling holo-image of a well dressed and older human on them. Zabi rolled his eyes at the image and then looked up at his security chief.

"Redden, can you help our guests find proper attire for the evening?"

Jax considers for a moment before responding, "Cereans are well regarded as advisors and planners due to our dual-brains. I would pass best as an advisor. I would need some background info on your organization to ensure that I can pass as what I claim."

Lord Zabi nodded at the suggestion.  "Yes, that is perfect. You can go as my new financial advisor.  I can give you some background information on the company and my personal finances. Not everything, you understand. But enough that you can pass most scrutiny."

Redden grunted at the mention of personal finances.

Jax nods, "Shrewd plan, my Lord, given that if asked, I would reveal little about your finances were I to know much more about them."

"And it prevents you from actually KNOWING those details and then informing your order about them. So it works in multiple ways."

Redden spoke up for the first time.

Maliq didn't like the implications being made by Redden. But nevertheless, he knew that his temper should be kept in order lest the plan to go awry.
"I would best be portrayed as security personnel. Let's just say that my skills will speak for themselves should a situation provide the opportunity for me to utilize them."

Redden looked over at Maliq and grunted.  "Fine. But you listen to me, got it? And try not to embarrass Lord Zabi too much."

"I yield to the will of the force. Not you." Maliq pauses to calm himself. "But for the time being I will...do what is necessary." He hates submitting to anyone who hasn't proven their superiority but if it will help to advance the mission, there's nothing else to be said on the matter. Maliq responds to the grunt with a stare of give me a reason

Redden looks at one of the other guards.  "See about getting him an outfit. Something that will blend in."

The other guard nodded, then escorted Maliq out of the office to fix his wardrobe.

Lord Zabi looked back at Jax once Maliq left the room.  "Should I worry about your fellow Jedi? He seems a little...different from the stories I have heard about Jedi.

Jax lowered his head briefly, deep in thought. "Maliq has had a hard time. He joined the Order older than usual, and had a trying experience where his master was crippled. I will make sure to speak to him before the event and ensure that he is ready. Will that suit you?"

Zabi sighed and shrugged his shoulders.  "In this situation, it will have to do. Just....keep an eye on him. Things will be tense enough with my presence there. I do not need an unpredictable Jedi thrown into the mix."

"Do we have any other parts of the plan we need to review? If possible, I could use something more formal than my robes."

Zabi nodded and pressed a button on his desk.  "Contact the wardrobe consultant." He looked back up, then over at Redden.  "Can you have someone escort Jedi Jax to the consultant? He does need a more appropriate outfit for tonight."

Redden looked at one of his other men.  "Jeph can take care of that. And then we can discuss some of the particulars for tonight."

The mentioned guard stepped forward and waited for Jax.

Jax gives a polite nod to Zabi, "Thank you Lord Zabi. I'll see you this evening. Lead on Jeph."

Jax follows the lesser guard out of the room.

Jeph led Jax upstairs and to another private room.  Inside was an older Twi'lek male who looked over Jax. "Good. Good. We can do something quickly."

He then proceeded to take measurements and make notes to himself.

Jax chats with the Twi'lek for a few minutes before choosing a well tailored green suit.

"What do you think of this? Formal enough for the gala tonight? Are there fashion trends on Balmorra I should be aware of?"

"That will be perfect.  There are a few trends at the moment, but the Zabi family has been known to ignore most trends. Wearing this off-trend outfit will actually make you blend in. Ironic."

The Twi'lek made a few final adjustments, then stepped back.  "Perfect! You are ready for tonight."

Jax takes one more look in the mirror. <blue>"Thank you for your assistance Master Clothier."

A security guard entered the room.  "We are almost ready to leave. Are you done in here?"

[Private to Jax Nilar; Maliq: I am ready to move on if you are. Let me know.]

Jax took his typical lanky strides to the door, "Yes, thank you for waiting."

Maliq follows his escort to acquire the necessary attire for the gala. Clothing never having been a major part of Maliq's thoughts, he thrws on whatever the specialist recommends and returns to stand by his companion's side. "I am ready whenever you are."
