Coruscant: Jedi Temple: Onward and Upward

The turbolift doors slid open with a small chiming noise.  They opened onto a busy corridor with many different species and droids going about their business. The atmosphere and general feeling around the Temple was different from only a few weeks ago.  There were rumors of a Sith agent killed by a Jedi on Balmorra. Whispers of missing Jedi and potential Sith assassins spotted new the Core Worlds had the tensions rising.

The corridor outside activity leading up to the office doors of Master Ulric. Master Ulric was the current day-to-day head of the Jedi Order and was rarely seen by those outside the rank of Master.  His schedule was very busy and those waiting to see him spent upwards of an hour sitting in his reception area. The droid there did its best to keep everyone comfortable, but even Jedi were getting restless.

"I apologize again, esteemed Jedi. Master Ulric is currently meeting with the Master Council and will be available shortly. Until then, is there anything I can get you to make the waiting more tolerable?"

Krey remained seated and silent, patiently waiting for the Master's current obligations to conclude. He raised his hand to let the droid know he did not need anything and instead listened, curious as to the droid's response. The recent rumors were troubling and Krey could only assume Master Ulric was busier than ever.

"Master Ulric is currently in an important meeting with other members of the Jedi council.  He cannot be disturbed at the moment and will be with you as soon as possible."

As the receptionist droid answered, a serving droid rolled over with drinks and small refreshments. It stopped next to the 2 Jedi.

San Krey kept still, eyes closed and pensive, drawing further into himself, as he usually would during times of drawn out anticipation in an effort to remain composed. The last month had proved less than ideal, his latest mission resulting in failure. For reasons unknown to him it was proving more difficult than usual to find acceptable force sensitives to enlist, and in times like these Krey couldn't help but feel these failures, however minor, weigh heavily upon his shoulders.

As the droids shuffled about he felt a barely noticeable hint of impatience from the Jedi to his right, Vekin if he remembered correctly. It did little to ease Kreys own troubled emotions.

After another five minutes, that seemed to take hours, the droid approached the jedi again.

"I apologize for the wait, but Master Ulric will see you now."

The droid turned its head to look at the large double doors leading further into the office. They were closed but it was easy to notice there was no locking mechanism on the doors.

When the droid let them know that Ulric was free and as Vekin began to make his way into the council chamber, Krey opened his eyes and stood, fixing his dark blue robes before following his fellow Jedi. With a hurried step and his lightsaber gently rocking on his belt Krey stepped into the room, the double doors slowly closing behind him.

The doors to Master Ulric's office opened and the droid escorted the two jedi inside.  The office was larger then the reception area but seemed smaller due to the number of tomes and holocrons and other materials inside.

Master Ulric stood behind the desk.  He was a tall, middle-aged human.  He seemed a little tired and weary, traits not usually associated with the Jedi.  From the number of datapads, scrolling messages on the wall to his side, and the images floating near the ceiling, it was obvious he was handling many things at once.

He waited for the doors to close before speaking.

"Thank you for joining me. I apologize for the wait, but it appears the Sith are making some moves.  There are rumors from multiple locations and a confirmed sighting on Balmorra. With most of the Master's Council off-world, I am handling the day-to-day operations.  I do not mean to cut this meeting off short, but there are many things I must accomplish today."

He paused for a moment and then pulled up a planet on the holo-display on his desk.

"This is Druckenwell. It is a system not allied with the Republic or any other government. It is a financial planet and most of its people work one of the corporations that run the planet. Normally we would not be interested in this planet at all. But recently reports have been coming in that a so-called "Corporate Prophet" has developed a following. He has performed what the locals are calling "divine messages". He is not affiliated with the Jedi or Sith, but seems to have some connection to the force. I want you to go and investigate these claims."

Krey listened as Master Ulric explained the situation and acquiesced, he thought it seemed odd to him that he would be pulled off recruitment to help investigate an individual with, seemingly, no ties to the Sith when a single Jedi could probably do the trick, but Master Ulric had enough on his plate and so Krey would not question is directions.

He turned to Vekin as he spoke, curious of the answer, if an off-worlder seeked to grab hold of power or influence over an industrial planet like Druckenwell, Krey doubted it was for the benefit of the planets people. It could probably be turned into an quite the asset in the right hands.

Master Ulric hit a button and an image appeared on the holo on his desk.  "The prophet is originally from the planet. His family is one of the more wealthy ruling families on the planet. But he has put all that aside to begin his new "teachings" and take on these followers. That is disturbing on many levels for someone with his background."

He looked at Krey, almost as if he could read his mind. "I understand you might be confused why we chose you for this assignment.  There are two reasons. First, we need someone who is skilled at searching out and determining force potential.  Not only his, but the followers he has drawn in. Some of them are reported to have abilites as well. If he is brining in other force users, we need to know how powerful and how many.  Secondly...." He trailed off for a moment before continuing.

"At the moment our resources are spread thin.  The corruption and accusations against the top republic leaders and the many Sith sightings and reports have stretched our available number of field-ready jedi.  We are sending out padawans on some light missions, but at the moment we need every jedi we have helping chase down these rumors."

He paused for a moment to let his words sink in and give the two jedi time to think over what he has said.

That was sound, the Jedi couldn't allow a new faction of unmonitored force users to roam without fully understanding their intentions, and if they had any particularly powerful individuals, two Jedi might not even be enough to keep them contained.

Krey uncrossed his arms and stepped forward, speaking for the first time, "Understood, Master, we'll do everything in our power to get to the bottom of this." he finished his sentence with a respectful bow before turning to Vekin to see if he had anything too add.

The spaceport was full of beings going to and from the planet, towards docking bays and landed ships, shuttles to dock with larger ships in orbit, or just moving cargo from one place to another.

It was a scene of barely controlled chaos with signs and markers in many languages all trying to get attention.  The spaceport's computer system had the small passenger liner Doldur Traveller was on level 12, complex 9, docking bay 143.

Not seeing him in the crowded area in front of the Doldur Traveler, as the liner was called, he assumed Vekin had already boarded and followed suit.
Inside he made out Vekin's head and horns above the other passengers and so Krey gently pushed himself to his companion and took a seat near him.

The shuttle lifted off and out of the atmosphere. Once in orbit it docked with a large passenger liner and all passengers moved over to the large ship.  Once all passengers and crew were aboard, the shuttle undocked and headed back to the spaceport.

The two Jedi were assigned a room together.  It had 2 beds and a small study/sitting area they could share.  There was a small bathroom attached.  All other amenities were handeled on the approriate decks/locations.

Krey put his thoughts on hold to listen to his companion, "Well, the Doldur Sector is in the Mid Rim if I remember correctly, on the way to Christophsis. I would imagine it won't take more then a few days."
He paused to look at the Togruta's food, if Krey didn't know better he would have thought that Vekin hadn't eaten in a very long time. "I believe your worry is justified. It is a rare occurrence that we encounter what could be a new faction of force-sensitives. The power this man wields. Not just the force, but, with what we've heard, his tongue, could prove disastrous to the people of Druckenwell."

The Nautolan pauses, his brow creased, but before long he shakes it away and turns to Vekin smiling. "But, those are worries for when we find ourselves on the planet proper. Let's enjoy our time on this vessel while we can."

Krey stands as the Togruta stands, Krey hadn't usually been subject to ships like these on his travels to find force-sensitives, so he was rather curious as to what the vessel held. He thought there was no harm in accompanying Vekin in a brief tour of the ship before retiring to meditate. "Lead the way." he said before following his companion.
