Pax Bellum: Genocide War, Background and Information

Pax Bellum

Earths first taste of life beyond earth was a brutal war which led to the death of over a billion souls. In the  two centuries since that violent introduction to the interstellar neighborhood mankind has been under constant threat of extermination on four occasions.
Each time they have fought viciously to survive, and clawed heir way back from the abyss. The races which are not open to peaceful coexistence have learned that humanity will not die easily, and extracts a heavy price on any force that seeks their destruction.

For over 75 years the Terran Alliance executive has held the line, keeping the core worlds of the alliance relatively secure. the price in lives and resources has been heavy, but for the first time in recent history earth and the core worlds have not faced attack. However in the face of growing aggression from the traditional enemies of the TAE and it's allies a troubled peace may soon give way to full scale war.

Hostile forces
Najuhlim Zealots: religious fanatics determined to exterminate all humans and seize control of Earth.
Q'sa: a once dying elder race now showing signs of resurgence under the leadership of a Newly risen god/queen
Najuhlim High Command: methodical, disciplined, possessing technology gleaned form the ruins of Mohljaniir worlds. A hesitant, unknown factor not yet fully committed to war with Humanity.
Onai: viscous, rapacious, and horrific, these mutated and twisted abominations fight war for its own sake, taking slaves, resources, and the children of their victims to continue their own existence.
Marduk: the synthetic children of Hecate, a rouge AI created by The TAE, which rebelled and has returned to human occupied space seeking to renew her war against her creators.
Zhao: a client race to the Najuhlim Zealots, fierce bestial shock troops which rival the Cesti in animal cunning, and Natural weaponry. they fight with a reckless abandon that shocks and terrifies many humans.
D'oohm: another member of the elder races on the fringes of O'sahdii controlled Human occupied space. This shadowy race has long avoided contact with Humans. they excel at genetic manipulation, biology, and other related sciences. They are believed to be largely responsible for improving the physical abilities of both Najuhlim, and Q'sa shock troopers combining cybernetics and genetic manipulation technology recovered from the Mohljaniir to create custom tailored warriors for their clients.

Allies:
Cesti: the fierce Leonine race has already began to strike deep into Q'sa space, Cesti privateers and commerce raiders have caused heavy looses to the poorly armed cargo ships and transports supplying the enemy forces, and transporting valuable materials to factories behind the front lines.
Gorgon:A common nickname(Happily accepted by the gorgon themselves) for  a small client race of the Quetzl, the small swift ships of the Gorgon fleet provide early warning of Enemy movements beyond the Frontiers of human Occupied space.
Mohljaniir: the scattered remnants and survivors of a genocidal war with the Najuhlim, they are hungry for revenge, and grow in strength every year as they struggle back from the brink of extinction.
Nephahla: a small band of Nephilum, released from service to the O'sahdii. the Nephahla lack the overwhelming power of their Elders. They do not lacking drive, and commitment to defending Humanity through direct action.
O'sirii: a long lost offshoot of humanity, dormant for many centuries, small in number, but possessing technology rivaling their O'sahdii patrons. At best able to provide only minor assistance while they attempt to recover their strength the O'sirii hold the Key to unlocking technologies lost to the Known races for fifty thousand years.
O'sahdii: Like the recently released Nephilum, this small group of young offshoot of the parent race do not have the knowledge or technology of their elders. They have traded the technology, and powerful Psionic of their elders for freedom to travel among, and interact with, Humanity. They have begun to make themselves available as allies, and advisors to the Human factions. Vowing to stand and, if need be die alongside the younger races.
The Quetzl, a hybrid race of human and alien. Long and dependable allies of Humanity, they are slow to intervene, but bring powerful technology to the battle when they act. though relatively small in number compared to humans the powerful Q'sa fleet has prevented raids along their region of the Human frontiers

The year is 2379, this period of time will become known Genocide War Era.Mankind and it's allies have survived numerous wars, and threats to their survival, by far the Genocide Wars will test not only their strength, but their very identity to the breaking point.

Two Years have passed Since the Battle Of Char. Humanity and it's allies are at war with the Q'sa and their allies.  So far the skirmishes have been limited to raids, and fast strikes at key communications and resource centres by both sides. However larger more powerful Q'sa, Najuhlim, and Onai warships have been detected in the frontier regions, and stalking hyperspace.

Numerous small colonies ave come under fire, and several have been completely destroyed, stripped of resources, their populations forced into labour camps deep inside hostile territory. fleet and Marine forces from all three human Powers are stretched thin protecting the frontier, and forming large mobile task forces to repulse any major Offensive.

Humanity : On the edge of the Abyss.
Decades of peace have been shattered by a singular event. An ancient Warship has been recovered during a violent engagement with the Q'sa led by a mysterious Leader known only as "She". This mad self appointed "Queen" has gathered a large force of Q'sa and other non humans to her banner and declared herself an enemy to the Allied human races.

The first encounter resulted in a major battle leading to the loss of several major warships and the near loss of the Flagship Prometheus, and it's resident AI controller the coordinator of the Sol Sector defences, and 'father" of a majority of sentient AIs within human space.

In the months following the Battle of Char constant skirmishes with both Q'sa and renegade human and alien forces have grown in intensity and frequency. An all out war has erupted along the Valkiir Q'sa frontier with the Powerful Valkiir fleet Hard pressed to defend their holdings and drive back the constant raids by numerically superior Q'sa forces.

Humanity is now Gearing up for a long bloody war as long standing hostilities with the Q'sa, Najuhlim, and Onai species have erupted into open violence. The Three Allied governments are pouring troops and ships into the frontier as quickly as possible, and Ship yards and factories are now producing the vessels and materials of war at rates not seen since the closing phases of the Last Najuhlim incursion.

As rumours of war, invasion, and frontiers in flames races through the core worlds. rumours of internal unrest among the Houses of the Imperium and humans allied to the Newly risen Queen of the Q'sa have been denied, but stories continue to circulate that several houses within the Imperium have contributed to the sudden, unexpected resurgence of the  Q'sa.

CASAR: Knee deep in the Styx.
The Quasi-governmental Group CASAR has inherited many duties as the Military complex gears up for war. The special action groups employed by CASAR are stretched thin responding to emergencies throughout Human occupied space.

The agency has found itself pressed to replace the manpower siphoned off by the mobilizing forces, with many of it's members and usually mercenary agents unavailable to the. To answer the sudden depletion of it's ranks CASAR has began to offer greater benefits, and pay to anyone willing to take on high risk assignments in the now completely destabilized frontier of the Allied Governments.

Valkiir:  Face to the Fire.
The conclave has long prepared for invasion. Their fleet has patrolled the frontiers of Human occupied space, the marines have spent decades fighting spot fires, responding to raids, criminal activity, and outside incursions. Now they are preparing for war the likes of which Humanity has not experienced in generations.

Untested Militia, and reserve troops have been shoved into frontline service. The fearsome power of the Valkiir Hearthguard has been unleashed, Smashing into the Q'sa stalling the alien advance along the outer regions of Conclave territory.

New recruits and seasoned troopers are finding themselves pushed to the breaking point. only the sheer power of the Valkiir and the tactical insight of their Njorn, and Battle Witches hold the line. Entire colonies are now preparing to face large scale invasion. With no where to retreat to, and no desire to retreat if they had the option. The Valkiir are preparing to bear the brunt of the war, and fight where they stand to the bitter end.

Tau Imperium: A House Divided
the war has stirred up long simmering disputes within the Houses of the Imperium. Many houses blame the war on the poor preparations of the Ruling Empress, and a failure by the Imperial Intelligence agencies which are controlled by two prominent houses. House O'maeda, And House B'sarii are both under fire for allowing the situation to reach the point of open warfare.

In addition the rumours of houses supporting and supplying the Q'sa with advanced weapons, training, and material support has many people nervous. Rebellion and treason have long been a part of the Imperium but supporting an external enemy has never been tolerated.

Not only has the Imperial Intelligence agency began it's own investigation, each house and family has began to investigate attempting to identify and root out traitors within it's ranks or conceal any questionable activities that might lead to their connection to a conspiracy with the Q'sa.

In the chaos threatening to topple houses, and old alliances every O'maeda has a chance to advance her own fortunes or destroy a rival with a well timed bit of intrigue and sabotage. Even while the Imperium gears up for a prolonged war the loyalties to self, Family and house are  fuelling viscous infighting in court, and in the halls of the Great Houses.

Najuhlim Expatriates: Brother Against Brother
The Najuhlim expatriates have found themselves at the front fighting for the Human worlds which they have adopted as their home. The face a war on two fronts, a war against an enemy that consider them traitors, and heretics to be destroyed without mercy. and a war against those who have yet to accept them as more than violent thugs, and potential traitors.

Najuhlim Zealots: Bloody Crusade
the Najuhlim Zealots have eagerly jumped at an alliance against the Humans, the opportunity to destroy the human alliance, and retake the homeworld stolen by the O'sahdii, and granted to the degenerate humans.
No mercy is allowed, no sacrifice is too great, and the glory of retaking the Homeworld awaits the brave, and obedient warriors who serve the Theoarchs  and their Officers. Only the cowardly and treacherous leaders of the High Command slow the Great crusade, by refusing to commit it's full force to the sacred mission of the Zealots.

Najuhlim High Command: Enemies From within, and without...
The High command is the last vestige of the Proud Najuhlim Oligarchy, with the oligarchs overthrown, and the populous slowly being converted to Zealots through propaganda, brainwashing, and cybernetic augmentation, only the High command itself holds any power to defy the power mad Theoarchs.

Balanced on a knifes edge the High command walks a thin line between acquiescing to the demands of the Zealots, and open civil war among the ranks of the Najuhlim People. Now the High Command finds itself under growing pressure, threats of violence, and assassinations attempts by Zealot sympathizers who seek the support of the Zealot leadership in their own bids for power.

The average High Command citizen finds themselves surrounded, in intrigue, and violence, hated by both sides of the war they are now treading a very dangerous path which could lead to their enslavement and conversion by the Zealots, or total destruction by the Allied human forces.
