Re: University, by Day or night

Ligia arrived a few weeks ago mostly getting settled and working on her graduate classes in Legal Studies a certificate on non-profits and grant writing, to add to her business degree. But even she had to have a life so showering, dressing nice and a bit of perfume she heads out for an afternoon of fun maybe dinner and a movie. But she's not sure yet. One thing she does do is get books on local houses and commercial properties for sale and during a casual dinner circles ones she could afford with a bold tip felt pen.

Well she can find houses of various prices... she notices, one neighbourhood which currently has declining property values... as people arent eager to live there because of a recent crime wave... but a very nice house is available currently.

In reply to The Uncaring Night (msg # 36):

Sadie pauses "Well maybe I can help you. I've done at least five interviews amoung the staff and students so far. One of them mentioned seeing a strange figure in the alley by the biology buildings.". She trains her face to open and helpful. "I could show you the area she pointed out."

She was hungrier than she had thought. She was having a hard time not staring at his neck, and the veins pressing lightly against his skin. She can only hope her ploy will work.

Re: University, by Day or night

Ligia notes it, she will need to look into why, but right now she is out for fun but can do some internet research later the crime reports will be available. But if there are commercial property options like a store with an apartment above she would be interested there are likely programs for developing that. The house could be of interest however depending on her research.

She get out her iPhone and starts looking things up about the neighborhood there have to be economic reasons for the reduction in property values and that is usually not good. But if it can be turned around she could get into business. She always wanted to start a non-profit group this could be a good time to start with a location.

Ligia finds that the major place for the reduction in property values is it isnt seen as quite as safe a place to live, as it used to be.

In reply to The Uncaring Night (msg # 41):

A thrill of fear flares through Sadie. It didn't work. Suddenly she was a little angry at the officer for resisting. She had worked hard for so many years, had achieved where others struggled, through perserverance. And this lazy overfed mortal couldn't even get up from his desk to investigate an active case?!

It takes all her willpower not to lose her cool and spoil her deception. She glances around to make sure nobody is near or looking in this direction. With an energy born of anger she locks eyes with the man. Her focus is sharp, edged by her sudden frustrated desire to dominate. (She is attempting to mesmerize him). She says carefully "follow me".

In reply to The Uncaring Night (msg # 43):

Sadie leads the officer outside. On second thought, the biology buildings are too far from here. He was stumbling after her more than walking with a purpose. That wouldn't look good. She settles for a closer alley near the back of one of the older brick structures. She glances around as they head away from populated pathways. Her doubt has been pushed down by her simmering anger at the man. She is running a danger of abandoning too much caution because of it.

She makes sure there is enough light for the officer to see by when she stops. The end of the alleyway is dimly lit by a old porchlight rigged just below some of the crumbling molding. She is willing to bet the guided tours of campus don't come this way. The cracked asphalt is wet from a pipe outlet. She glares at the man. "Stay still, stay silent." she says forcefully (and with a hint of contempt). His neck is actually a little high, but she moves to him in more of a ambush than an approach. She moves to bite much harder than is needed to simply draw blood, letting her anger spill out. he had embarassed and defied her.

He gasps pausing... unsure...  nervous and a bit frightened... is quite scared

she feels the hot rich blood flowing into her every moment she feels stronger, more vital, and more ALIVE then she ever did as a mortal, and she has to decide wheither to spare him or not,as her sire told her to avoid leaving a string of bodys around.

In reply to The Uncaring Night (msg # 45):

At first Sadie thinks good as she feels him tremble. It satisfies her frustration. She can feel his heart fluttering as the rich flow pulses. Though the taste of his blood tempts her to drink until his heart seizes, she stops. She remembers her obedience to her Sire. She licks the blood away from the small wounds and pulls his collar back up (she doesn't know it will heal).

As she pulls back she catches sight of his face. The look on it is the type she would expect to see on a scared child. Pity swells in her chest. She reaches out to him, petting him like a frightened animal. "It's ok." she says softly. She has never seen a grown man cry before, and his cheeks are wet. She knows how she can make it better. She looks at him, compelling his eyes to stay on hers, immobilzed. The sound of dripping water fills the silence of the alley. After a few moments she says "Forget what happened here.". She turns and walks away once she is sure he has the message. She does not want him to see her after he shakes off the affect.

She feels sated and full of vigor. The night is still early enough to watch into windows, and she turns into the residental connected streets. Any house where someone is obviously living alone she will look more closely at. She knows it is a good idea to avoid anyone with dogs for noise alone.

Re: University, by Day or night

She sees a few vacant houses where she could probaly move in if she just needed short term occupancy.

After a few hours she finds a house dwelled in by a early middle aged man who seems pretty grumpy, having an empty an directionless life.

Re: University, by Day or night

In reply to The Uncaring Night (msg # 47):

Sadie evaluates the empty houses. One would do for now if she had to. An inhabited house would be better. Someone to pay utilities, keep the property maintained. Furnature would be nice too.

The man's shadow occasionally moved in the windows Sadie was watching from across the street. The house, while ample for a family of 4, was too large for him. The paint was a muted dark blue, and recent. The yard was landscaped and lawnless. Sage bushes, lupin, lavender and a pomegranate tree were overshadowed by old trees. Multch and bark carpeted between stratigically placed rocks and plants. She was willing to bet he had hired someone to lay out this carefully planted concoction.

It's still early. She approaches the door, knocking on the dark wood. After a minute the man comes to the door. Sadie clasps her hands in demure fashion, as if she is nervous. "Hi, I'm pleased to meet you. I saw your add in the paper for the room for rent. I'd like to rent it.". She knows very well he didn't place an ad in the paper, but is probably willing to believe she has the wrong address. She is betting everything on this working, because she won't be able to try any of her other ploys after this.

Ligia is not buying now but will visit some properties when time permits, submitting to an on-line multi-lender site with her information for a mortgage using her resources as reference. She will look into also business help the city might offer and small business administration options. Not tapping her religious options right now wishing to keep this in the planning stage.

She's thinking of a charity use of a commercial property with an apartment space she can remodel above for her to live in.

And she needs to work on her classes to, she likely will be busy the next few days.

"I assure you, I'm a college student here.". She looks down "unfortunately I'm between terms right now, and only active students can live in the dorms. So I have to find an alternative residence."

What she says is only half truth. Yes only active students could live in the dorms, but nobody would evict a student between terms. It was considered wiggle room.

She looks up "I really need somewhere safe to stay, and I can pay."

"Ugh.. I should stop staying up till sunrise."

Janus groaned as he dragged himself out of bed, blinking blearily at the sunlight seeping into his room through the blinds. Shuffling over to his computer, he booted it up and quickly freshened up while waiting. Returning to his machine, he saw a blinking blue message that is definitely abnormal and sighed upon reading the contents.

"Great, school is starting and somehow those mysterious guys managed to trace me AND hack into my personal email... Gotta keep them happy well at least till I manage to bust their firewalls and retrieve those records."

In reply to The Uncaring Night (msg # 52):

Sadie aims high; her parents supplied her with more than enough monthly income. "Well the ad said $350, but I'll pay $500 to show you I'm serious. I'm pressed for time.". Her mouth curls up on one side slightly in an innocent gesture "I don't cause trouble".

She takes a moment to examine him more carefully. He is on the tall side at 5'11". While not portly, neither is he slim. A diet of pre-prepared food is starting to catch up to him, and he's sporting a small gut. His hair is a wholesome shade of chestnut, and it cut in an utterly average style. His blue eyes are perhaps the only characteristic that stands out about him. She had expected to feel very little for the person she narrowed in on to provide a haven. This man stikes her as pleasent, and honest. She likes him.

Re: University, by Day or night

In reply to The Uncaring Night (msg # 56):

Sadie smiles "renting out a room is an easy fix in a college town.". she says agreeably. The man seems beaten down and sad to her. She might have the potential to "outlive" him, but he was at least two and a half times her age. She finds it strange she would pity him. For a second she is glad she chose this route; her rent would provide him some source of income. Maybe he would be less likely to question the hours she keeps and strange eating habits if he needed her.

"I can move in tomorrow night." she pauses, looking down again "it has to be night. You know the people you hear about with that rare allergy to sunlight? Well my case is far more mild than what you've heard probably. But it causes me irritation. It's hard to be out at this strange hour, people always wonder. And you're right, it is dangerous. I'll appreciate having somewhere safe to live.". Lying feels a little distastful. She understands something about this man's pain. It inspires a feeling of protectiveness.

She shakes his hand politely before bidding him goodnight. One more day in the chemisty lab cabinet was all she would have to tolerate. For now she decides to stroll along the main drag, maybe sit and sip nothing while reading in the coffee house. Mostly she wants to watch people. Her new senses are still unfamilar, and she revels in feeling the pulses of people around her.

Re: University, by Day or night

In reply to The Uncaring Night (msg # 58):

Sadie remembers how the man in the house had reacted to her; too young. She could see many situations where playing on her youth could be useful. There seemed to be just as many isnatnces where it could inconvenience or hurt her. If she wanted to look more adult on occasion, perhaps she could obscure true age by dressing a certain way. She gets up, and walks out of the coffee house. If she's lucky most of the shops will still be open. University students often didn't stick to a bedtime, and the businesses in town catered to them.

Sadie holds out a woman's black formal button down shirt. Extra small still ran a little big on her depending on the cut, but she could pull it off. The store was small, but well kept. Only two people were on staff tonight. An older woman with touched up blond hair about ten years out of date (probably the owner) gives her a strange look, but says nothing. Sadie had already laid a plaid skirt cut to the knee and several pairs of formal pants on on the counter. A conservative sweater and a few more shirts soon joined them. Sadie had never worn makeup, but she studied the colors displayed on a small ashwood stand at the front. She doesn't really know what type of color would even suit her. She looks at the woman rying to look busy nearby "What would you reccomend?" she asks.

Patrica walks over with close clipped steps. Though she thinks Sadie looks young for the clothing choices she had selected, she would enjoy helping her match her color.
