All too swiftly I descend into the night.

The house looks imposing and is darkly beautiful with 2 Stone Gargoyles flanking the Door and she cant help but feel that their ... watching her appraising her

A elderly Maid gets her at the door "Come right in your expected, would you like some tea, cant offer you wine sorry but have a lot of teas"

The decor is a bit dated, suggesting the man has eccentric and old fashioned tastes.

theirs some sculptures as well

"He'll be down in a few minutes till then make yourself comfortable" she says.

In reply to The Uncaring Night (msg # 1):

Sadie politely declines the tea. She smiles a sweet, close-lipped smile at the kindly maid, grateful for her offer. She is too nervous to eat or drink anything. The forbiding statues outside only increased her unease. All her eager thoughts at rebellion are completely gone.

She seats herself on an old overstuffed couch. The leather is well-maintained, but old enough for the smell of the hide to have fled. She looks about wide-eyed at the silent, ornate room. The polished walnut side table feels glass-smooth when she runs a hand over it. She tries to imagine what Mr. Wllston must look like. After a minute or two she starts to fidget.

He comes downstairs and is handsome...  suprisingly toung but a bit forbidding, she senses something, she cant tell what  That makes her want instinctively to get far away from him but she can easily suppress it

"Hello Ms Jenkins" He says with a smile something about it seems wrong though she cannot tell what

"I help many people jumpstart their careers." He advises

"Your still a minor but are doing so well... Your parents must be proud of you" He smiles "You arent in trouble with tuition which is what I usualy offer What I can give you are connections Or is their anything you need or want currently?" He asks her kindly.

Re: All too swiftly I descend into the night.

In reply to The Uncaring Night (msg # 3):

Sadie rises quickly, betraying her nerves. She presents her hand in her best-taught handshake stance. This isn't the first interview she's had, and the well-hammered in habits are keeping her moving. She is doing her very best to ignore the warning in the pit of her stomach, and it's pulling at her mind and movements.

After thanking him for inviting her into his home, she considers his question. "Honestly sir, your reccomendation would go a very long way. As you say, tuition isn't really a problem. A well placed word can be invaluable.". She mispronounces the last word. She looks every bit a dollish 15 year old playing at being a grown up. "Any advise you give would be very helpful too.".

Something is frightening Sadie, and she grips her hands tightly so they won't shake. She entertains the fantasy of running out the door, but she knows she can't.

Sadie's mouth actually hangs open slightly, caught on words dead on her tongue. Any adult would leave at this point. She is stunned into silence. Not only that, but she does not know how to answer him. She has never thought of death beyond knowing she would not have to face it until she was old. Her mind latches onto a essay from english class and she quotes "no man was ever considered more alive but that was going to die.". She hopes it is the right answer. She understands what she is suppose to say, but does not feel it.

He pauses "An interesting reply, I thank you for your time Im sure we'll see each other again in the next few days"

She senses that he's FOUND something in her he's been looking for for some possibly unwholesome purpose.

"I'll keep in touch do you need help getting a tablet, or new laptop I can help with that, when your read to drive I can help you get a car" he goes back upstairs...

Sadie is confused with the mix of generosity and unease. This feels dangerous or wrong. "Thank you, you're too kind. I hope I can live up to your expectations."
The closer she gets to the door, the more she feels like running out of it. She forces herself to step slowly as she takes her leave.

Luckily she had called ahead for a car taxi to wait about this time. It had already been waiting for 20 minutes with the clock running, but she was just glad it was there. She wanted to put as much distance as she could between herself and this place.

As something comes out of the shadows, it's as if for an instant every fearful childhood dream has been confirmed. Adrenaline courses through Sadie. There is no fight in her response, only flight. She tries to run, numbly, totally fueled on terror.

And everything fades to black...

Sadie opens her eyes. She tries to get her bearings, looking around. The last few minutes of conciousness come back to her. She feels so strange, but she remembers well, and despite herself, she curls up and cries. Right now she doesn't care if crying makes her a child. This is the only response she can muster to such a horrific violation.

In reply to The Uncaring Night (msg # 13):

After her tears subside, Sadie sitsup and dries her face. How can she think of food at a time like this? She had had a very light dinner. She wonders if she should report the attack. The idea is very unappealing. She doesn't even want to think about it, and perhaps if she didn't it would go away for a little while. She seems unhurt now, maybe she had passed out?

She brushes dirt off her pants and heads in the direction of the cafeteria. It stays open until 1am, so she knows she can go there for food. Such an ordinary thing to be doing.....she feels so out of sorts. Had the campus security finally relented and added more lighting? It seems a lot brighter. She thinks about the lunging black form and the sharp pain in her neck without meaning to, and tears threaten again. She bites her lip, trying to think about anything else.

Re: All too swiftly I descend into the night.

In reply to The Uncaring Night (msg # 15):

Sadie tries not to jolt her stomach on the way to the nearby bathroom. As it is she almost doesn't make it to the toilet before she vomits up what she had managed to get down. Distress is starting to creep back up on her. What is wrong with her? Her throat tightens, and she washes her face in the sink, trying to calm down.

The bathrooms near the cafeteria are notoriously dirty, so nobody on campus uses them unless they have to. Late at night it is even less frequented. Sadie looks in the mirror at herself, fairly confident she will not be disturbed. In this she is wrong. The door swings open, admitting a first year student. Her trailing brown hair is expertly curled, and even in the florecent light her makeup compliments her. Aside from this Sadie also notices she smells GOOD. Even after vomiting she is suddenly starving.

Sadie stays leaning over at the sink, thinking of very little other than the girl. Her mind is all jumbled up, and she doesn't know what to think even if she could think of something else. The toilet flushes, and the girl comes over to the sinks. An unused sink stands between them, but from here her smell seems intoxicating.

Without thinking she walks over to the girl, stepping up close enough so their bodies are almost touching. The girl is surprised, obviously, and caught offguard. Sadie's short, thin frame offers no threat and she doesn't step away immediately. She looks questioningly at Sadie, who grabs her suddenly and with great speed. In a small part of her mind, Sadie knows a girl so much stronger than her should have no trouble pulling away from her. The girl seems so slow to her, and somehow Sadie wants to taste the blood in her veins. Such a strange idea, ridiculous even if Sadie had the time to think about it. She isn't thinking about it.

Re: All too swiftly I descend into the night.

In reply to The Uncaring Night (msg # 18):

Part of her says to stop; this is wrong, this is hurtful. But she doesn't want to stop. It feels and tastes so good. Why must she always be bound by doing the right thing? Even without the bloodlust (though she hadn't given much thought to what it actually was), her energy to do "the proper thing" was failing. She is worn thin with it, more than any 15 year old should ever be. Like any mortal she had heard stories about vampires; made up evil creatures with a thirst for blood. She didn't initially openly aknowledge this as a possible reality, but she's not stupid. There is nothing else this could be. Illogically, she feels vindication and excitement, as a child would who just confirmed the existance of the monster living in their closet. Make-believe is one thing, truth is another. While she is beginning to like this, she is also still afraid.

Sadie pays no attention to the struggles of her victim. She is completely enraptured with the hot blood pouring into her mouth. The girl's struggles become less coordinated. She stops trying to push Sadie away, using her weakened legs to push along the floor and away from her attacker. Sadie is not deterred at all. She doesn't pause for an instant, though she feels the girl will die very soon. The realization just isn't strong enough to override the sweet taste of her blood.

Only when the girl slumps limply and unbreathing on the floor does Sadie draw back. She pants, but stops when she realizes she doesn't feel the need to catch her breath. She looks down at the cooling body huddled on the floor. A wave of regret and pity hits Sadie....she killed her. She had killed a person. She is in so much trouble. Vampires are evil, killing is evil....but Sadie doesn't feel evil. She feels sorry for the girl. This is wrong, but her heart aches to see the lifeless form. Her regret somehow softens this. Sadie stumbles over to the sink, confused. She washes the blood from her mouth and chin. The only spilt blood she wears is on her dark vest, and not noticable. She feels somehow reluctant to leave the girl's body, as if somehow she can help or make it better. But even she knows eventually someone will come into the bathrooms even at this hour, and she doesn't want to be here.

Sadie sits on a shadowed bench under an ancient tree. The dark seems so bright to her now, and she knows what she is vaguely. She doesn't have to fear the dark any more. She watches the occasional late nighter pass by, unnoticed. She needs time to think. The heartbeats and smells of passerbys is very distracting.

She finds herself sated for the moment at least...

she sees others going about their business... business that she is no longer a part of.

She feels the girls blood her life inside of her now a part of her...

The Hunger is numbed a bit for now... but hasnt gone away entirely its always there at the back of her mind...

She instinctively knows theirs much more she can do if she but trys, with the stolen blood that courses through her veins.

With such power she can ensure her own survival and accomplish who knows what goals.

She also knows that shes a few hours away from the sunrise... and how is she going to hide..
(OOC: I rolled Detachment, 1 success, so she doesnt lose humanity but gains the bestial condition)

In reply to The Uncaring Night (msg # 20):

Sadie likes the feeling of power coursing through her. If she didn't want to follow stifling rules, maybe with this she could make them instead. Who would stop her? She can't be the only vampire....she had been turned by one. She shuddered thinking about it. How many vampires were there? In all the movies a vampire who made another vampire lingered; taught or had authority over their 'child'. They must have gotten that part wrong. She feels very alone all of a sudden.

Sadie knows a vampire cannot be out during the day, and that's what she seems to be now. She can feel the dawn not far off. She thinks of the darkness of the basement labs in the old chemistry building. A new one had been built just before she came to the university, but classes were still held in the upper levels. She had peeked down to the windowless stone basement rooms before a class once. Nobody ever went down there anymore; the old labs were out of date now, and had been totally abandoned. She can't imagine daylight making it down there.

The old lab is musty. Dusty stone still gives off a sterile chemical smell. She crawls into one of the cupboards built below the lab benches. As small as she still is, it doesn't even feel very cramped. Is she suppose to do something? She sits waiting in the complete darkness.

One moment nothing, the next she feels nearly crippling lethargy, and she plunges into oblivion seconds latter...

Maybe a moment, maybe an eternity latter... she feels awareness return to her, can FEEL as a small bit of her precious blood is consumed forced through her corpse, revitalizing limbs and conciousness returns to her... all in a dizzying rush of awareness

As for her Creator she can sense SOMETHING just a tugging if she pauses to think on it, she might be able to follow it...

In reply to The Uncaring Night (msg # 22):

Sadie obediently follows the tugging. This must be what geese feel flying north. She wasn't a goose though, she wasn't even breathing. Though she caught herself doing it automatically when thinking about other things. Not following whatever sense this was doesn't occur to her. She has nothing else to do now anyway. If she goes back to her dorm, her roommate is going to wonder why she didn't attend classes. She wouldn't know what to tell her. Even if she switched to night classes, she would fail this semester's classes. It's too late to change them. If she was going to keep attending school at all. Was her life over now?

Sadie is wondering what will become of her as she walks. She feels she's getting very close to whatever it is she is going to. Where is she going to go? Where will she live? Is she suppose to hang out in a cemetery like movie vampires? Surely she can't keep hiding in the basement chemistry labs. She had only thought about the most pressing matters last night, but now as she considered her future (or lack thereof) she felt utterly lost. She stops, she has arrived at her destination.

In reply to The Uncaring Night (msg # 24):

Fear knots at Sadie's stomach. She knows from the moment she arrives that Mr. Wiltson was involved in what happened last night, or at least must know about it. Maybe he still did want to help her. If he had known about the attack and her...death, he had allowed it to happen. It had felt like fainting...but she must have. All the stories were in agreement on death being a requirement. This was still taking some getting used to. She had not forgotten the mortal fear of the attack though. If he had been the shadow or only known of it, one thing was certain; she feared Mr.Wiltson.

Sadie reluctantly sits on the old leather couch. It seems to smell different this time. She considers leaving, but finds she is compelled to stay. What else will she do anyway? So she continues to sit, with none of the confidence or bravery she had tried to champion last time.

"Ah, childe I see you have come. I must say I'm pleased I had feared you would throw yourself at the Sunrise... More then a few fledglings do, or invited a group of hunters to destroy you, many fledglings do that too. Why I abandoned you right after your embrace, I wanted to see if you could stand on your own two feet"

His smiles turns suprisingly genuine

"I think you've established that you can at least take the first step on your own you do not reek of starvation so clearly you were able to feed, I hope you didnt make too big a mess when you did so child?" He asks raising an eyebrow.

Her fear slowly recedes. Her mortal memory does not fade...but there is something else too. She looks at him similarly to a child looking at a parent. As having experiences, knowledge and power she has yet to even learn of. If he wanted to destroy her, she would tremble at his feet and let him. Stupidly she asks "How many vampires are there?"

She thinks of the girl from last night. What constituted a "mess"? She remembers her face staring sightlessly, still with the expression of terror written on it. Whatever blood Sadie didn't swallow had shown brightly on the white bathroom tiles. She remembers the pity, and the regret, and knows she wants to keep doing it. This wasn't like a movie, and what she did was certainly wrong. Maybe it was wrong for vampires too. It had felt good too though."You're not going to stop me are you?".

Sadie replies to his question "School is what I've been doing all the years of my life. It's all I know. For now, I may as well continue it.". Her parents didn't visit, and were very unlikely to notice her switching to night classes. She felt slightly detached from the people who had raised her. They don't see as important as they once did. She knew she still loved them.

She flinches at her word choice. She wasn't alive any longer. She was looking at her murderer. She felt like everything made more sense. With growing fondess she reflects that she can forgive him this slight trespass. As if he needs her forgiveness. This existance could be better.

"I will do anything you ask." she says looking up at him "But I would like to wait to decide."

Testing the waters she confesses "I killed someone.". She waits for a moment "I want to do it again. Will you stop me?". She looks at him expectantly, not knowing if she should be contrite. Movie vampires killed, but reality had already proven different.

If she was to feed without people knowing, she would need to make them forget somehow. Looking at her thin body, she knows she cannot seduce most people. Only a certain type. "Will you teach me to how to affect another's mind?".

Her eyes change slightly, adding this information to her picture of him. She was always painfully polite, but she would have to make certain to never be rude in front of him. The haunted look in his eyes makes it clear she she not continue to question any more on that topic. She wonders if it's bad that she enjoyed killing, even if it hurt her as well. Maybe even amoung vamp...the kindred, she will not fit in.

"I...don't know where I will go. I slept in the old chemistry lab during the day." she sucks in a breath (out of habit) I will try to find a crawl space maybe.". If Sadie could flush with embarassment, she would do so now. This was not only vulnerable to discovery, but undignified. Her face lights up "I could convince someone who lives alone to take me in. Someone with a basement or wine cellar. Someone isolated. They will obey me if I command them not to speak of where I sleep and to ever set a foot near it.". This solution is much more appealing if she can manage it, but she's never tried. The power in her blood her Sire spoke of entitles her to it, after all. The neighborhoods surrounding campus were littered with the houses of professors, groups of students and older homeowners who predated the current residents.

He nods, grateful

"The power you likely have thus far, over minds is unlikely to be that potent... but their is another kind of geas you can put someone under... get them to drink your blood on 3 different nights... and they'll grow almost insanely devoted to you perhaps annoyingly so, but its probaly the safest way to do things"

He smiles

"One last thing to keep in mind, our Clan the Ventrue, come largely from children of privilige, Try to keep that in mind, you may be young but you should bear the grace and dignity due one taken into our clan, we are the true nobles of the night. The other Clans so you know, are the Nosferatu, least of all vampires they hide in Sewers and other dark places.

Many of them are hideously ugly, others look normal, a VERY small handful are actualy hauntingly beautiful... but in a disturbing manner... the point is something about them disquiets or scares, anyone they meet so they have difficulty conversing with ordinary humans"

shakes his head "I have a hard time not being a trifle contempous of them but their prone to blackmail and trading information but their cut off from humanity in a way other vampires never are." Sighs

"The Mehket are a mixed bag, some are almost like the nosferatu, riff raff or spies, Others are amongst our most learned and wise scholars.

The Gangrel THe easiest way of explaining them is as Feral, actualy only a Fraction live in the wilderness apart from the citys, this cliche happens enough it sticks. They are often times slow minded, but have strong instincts, and have a innate faculity  with Shapeshifting magic, that gains them a trifle more respect then they might otherwise have.

Finally the Daeva, like Us Ventrue they are frequently found in the Invictus, and like us they have a Faculity with bending minds, the difference lies, in that we COMMAND they charm, I will not say theirs never a case where charming might be better, but I prefer the Certainty of our clans magics, creating emotions, that they then freely act on, might prove dangerous" He advices.

"Though the actual clan is actually verifiably older then our own Ours originated in the days of Rome, theirs, allready existed and was established in the days of sumeria.

Never the less, their clan is more modern in their language , their style of dress And the decor they prefer then we are, If one of us becomes super Rich, Were likely to build a Vast Mansion with Gardens, and such, They Prefer a Penthouse or Snazzy Condo someplace Moderately swanky, but also where they can be involved in a social life, We rarely bother with.

I will not say any of this is absolute, only that these generalitys help you tell the differences between the clans.

"Well think you can manage finding someone to move in with, the bond could help just have to decide how to explain to them your feeding them your blood"

Sadie wonders if she will know other kindred if she sees them. So many live in this town alone, and far more than she would have guessed beyond that. Listening to her Sire describe the other clans, she is glad she belongs to the Ventrue.

Perhaps gaining a secure Haven will be more difficult than she thought. Watching through windows to find someone alone would be easy enough. Convincing them to admit her, be blind to her nature and drink her blood were other matters entirely.

"Do they have to drink the my blood knowingly?". She thinks of one major complication she had seen or heard in nearly every story. "Do...do we have to be invited into someone's home?". She feels foolish even asking. He seems to know everything; she can't imagine ever being that knowledgable, or powerful.

"A handful of vampires develop weird compulsions or aversions as their humanity dwindles... Another reason to avoid killing if reasonably possible As it makes you more likely to develop such curses...

Things like needing an invitation, aversion to garlic, holy symbols, compulsively counting rice inability to cross running water... all these things are largely from curses that a handful of individual vampires spontaneously developed, but as a rule, no , you do not need an invitation. Breaking down a door risks summons to police, which could cause trouble... I'd reccomend you learn how to pick a lock in the next few months you never know when such a skill will come in handy.  but if you command someone to let you in, they may wonder why they complied, but you magically forcing them to do so isnt something the average person will likely think of" He says pacing a bit "If you'd like to spend the night with me I'll gladly have you I dont mind putting you up for a night or two giving you some blood then let you begin your search tommorow at dusk."

Re: All too swiftly I descend into the night.

Sadie agreed with her sire in general. However, as she had very little power in this world, she did not concern herself with politics overly much. After all, if a kindred objected to her, there wasn't much she could do about it. The possibility still worried her. What form of government kindred chose was the least of her worries. But from what she had learned from history, it had less to do with the form of government and more to do with the nature of the beings running it. In human history anyhow. Her education had been extensive, given her talent for learning.

"I could use help obtaining an i.d. if the connections exist." she admits. She pauses "But I have no passion for politics.". She could have to request a birth certificate, which would mean knowing the details of a deceased person in the age range she wanted. Her way would not be foolproof.

She considers his question "I don't think I have experienced frenzy. The beast has been close to dominating my mind at times, but I have never lost all control.". From what it sounded like, she didn't want to either. Intuitively she had known giving in completely would be dangerous, but she had not been aware of the consequences. "Maybe it's best if I rest here until I can center. If you will have me. I fear what I might do otherwise."

Blurring in a photo or video would be easy to explain, but a mirror less so. She would have to be mindful of it. She would have laughed at his request to practice a curtsey if his face hadn't been so serious. If it would help her make a good impression, she was more than willing to do it.

She had planned to draw blood over several weeks, enough to show beyond a shadow of a doubt she must have died. But he was right, a body really would be needed to dispel any doubts. She would have to dye her hair most likely as well, until nobody remained in the area that would recognize her. Her style of dressing was different enough already to throw people off.

Aside from the practical finality of a funeral, Sadie did want to provide her parents closure. Though she did not point that out as a reason. Her death would surely devistate them, and if she could afford them some measure of comfort, she would. Drowning seemed a good scenario, requiring no marks on a body. "I assume kindred are not vulnerable to drowning? I can 'play dead' in an area I know I will soon be found. But we will have to arrange to skip the autopsy somehow, since they are standard in suspicious deaths".

Nothing but an accident or violent death would do. She was too young to have any serious health problems that came on suddenly.

She looks at the old assorted objects decorating the opposite wall. "Did you have to stage your own death?" she asks curiously. Surely any relatives he left behind as a kindred would be long dead now. Perhaps he had had children, he had been embraced older than she.

With this thought she realizes that she will never have children in the human way. She had only stood at the start of what might have been a long mortal life. She had not finished school, fallen in love, had children. Could kindred fall in love? She wonders, but does not voice her question.

The instructor tried at Sadie's patience. She was accustomed to accelerated curriculums and advanced tutoring. Of course, there was no way for her instructor to know this. In her current state of mind she could barely stand not to tear him apart. What her sire would say helped restain her greatly.

The little physical activity that was involved produced no sweat on her skin. If not for the extensive fencing armor, it might have been noticable. She smiled inside her mask at the rules of point. For honorable purposes, surely he was right. But a slash to the neck could be fatal depending on the enemy; and dead was dead. So to speak at least. A familar quote rang through her mind more than once; "ask the dead if honor matters.". In this she could consider herself informed.

Despite the annoyance, she found she enjoyed fencing. She felt the familar drive behind her moves, striving to excel.

She was anxious to go out at night, but knew she couldn't. Not yet. Perhaps it was her youth that drove her to such recklessness.

Sadie pulled the dress she had painstakingly selected, over her plain gauzy slip. It was a muted champagne color, mimicing some of the colors in clan ventrue's great seal. It was sleeveless, with ruffled curling fabric running the length of the trunk, completely obscurring her chest. The dress was cut to start just at the hallow of her neck and run to a full length, but simple skirt. The fabric was ample but lacked any hint of a train, as it would have come off as presuming. Her hair was combed cleanly, pulled up in a pretty coil. She had taken her sire's suggestion and wore her small sword at her waist. Now that she had been instructed, even if only starting, she felt more comfortable wearing it.

She decends to the sitting room, and waits nervously for her sire. So much depended on this night.

"The Serial killer, the Dictator, and the Devil had a tea party, the profaned they laughed they took turns making love to the pretty Cadaver. Dialbriee or Amaranth as the crime is called was the act which sobered them and made them look down at their gore covered plates.

It is far viler then murder and is almost invariably punished by final death when it can be proven."

he squeezes her hand

Sadie turns to look at her sire seriously. "I have chosen the invictus.". She had spent many nights considering her choices carefully, and learning the finer points of each covenant. She had also learned of the lesser aknowledged covenants. Truthfully one other had caught her interest, but because of its nature, she dare not even mention it to her sire. Belial's brood. Though she understood the need for control and rules; the ideals of Belial's brood were very appealing to her. The severity of it was perhaps too much if not tempered. This was the real reason she did not persue it any further. Even if she had chosen it, it was not something she could make public.

The invictus held interest for her as well, and she knew it would please her sire. She had already realized the nessesity of connections, wealth and power as a kindred. Whatever other ideals she wanted to explore, would have to be done privately. She had no intention of violating any traditions, and realized their importance. Still a part of her wanted freedom from them.

Sadie listens carefully to his advise. She did not want to risk endangering him at all costs. She fidgets in the leather seat, trying to calm herself. She hoped they were almost there. The waiting was unbareable.

The limousine arrives and the concert hall is moderately upscale but not inaccessible to ordinary people on special occasions or such.

Marked special presentation and a lot of people are going inside

Theirs a lot of other kindred entering, you can sense it as you go in for a half instant a TERRIBLe urge to FLEE does well upside inside you but you are able to wrestle it down with a bit of effort. Still you feel somewhat skittish surrounded by vampires, many of whom are much mightier then you.

First theirs a Violin symphony that lasts a half hour

The Performers are Very talented and the classics they perform are very stirring including works by great mortal composers like beethoven and bach.

 and then to business.

The Prince is a strikingly handsome Middle aged man wearing a coronet and gazing around.

theirs some disputes about hunting terittory, that are pretty heated

The prince says, rather then shouts "Silence" Yet all who hear instantly obey.

"I find that the original claim by Lord Jacob is quite valid. This Gangrel has poached off of his territory and must pay the price."

The prince pauses waiting meaningfully

"True this gangrel is young but recognizing territory is important, if we allow a unbound neonate to get away with doing this because "He was desperate" We would see a breakdown of the concept of domain and possibly war"

Pauses for dramatic effect "This I cannot and will not allow."

After a bit

"Cut off his legs, let him spend some time in a wheel chair as he regenerates"

Says sternly

"If this happens a second time, it will be final death or banishment for you"

the Neonate crys a bit as some kindred come over he trys to flee but they knock him down saying "Show some dignity" and then chop off one leg letting his screams echo through the hall they beat him a bit he screams pitifully then cut the other leg off.

Her sire sighs

"Such displays may be rank, but domain has to be protected and if tresspassers are not brutally dealt with you lose your grasp on what you have. And a failure of the prince to protect domain rights could lead to anarchy" He whispers morosely

The Gangrel is carried away still whining.

Sadie is panic striken for a moment as they enter the building. She looks at her sire frantically, but knows she cannot run. To flee from this would certainly bring repercussions down on both of them. She digs her nails into the palm of her hand, keeping her spine straight and head forward. Even if she doesn't survive tonight, she will die with dignity.

The music actually does a great deal to relax her, if only for a few minutes. The violinists had had who knows how many years to prefect their skill.

The passing of judgement seems fair to Sadie, but she is surprised at her sire's reaction. Surely they had known the price of their transgression. Perhaps Sadie was different in this way than most though. She never did anything without considering the possible consequences. When she did wrong, she accepted what might come of it. This one was just unlucky enough to get caught.

She found the prince quite frightening. To her, a kindred in power was dangerous. Not because of the power they held, but because of the mindset it brought. The first and foremost concern for such a person was to keep their power. Such a position brought on poor judgement, brutality, paranoia and fear. Though she had found his punishment just in this case, he had been more concerned about not appearing weak than with dispencing true justice.

Sadie glances again at her sire. She would be presented by her chosen name tonight. There seemed some significant passage to that.

"I will vouch for her, I will guide her, I will teach her our laws, and the skills she must have to be a productive and Loyal member of the First estate"

The Prince nods

"As one who is being Sponsored into the Invictus, you would be rendered his servant essentialy for months or years, until it is decided you should undergo manumission.

She kneels without hesitation, but her mind reels in what should be a dizzying fashion. She feels slightly numb to everything but oddly enough, the feeling of the smooth cold marble floor under her hand. Very little felt colder than her own hand now.

At the prince's recognition she starts. Though the prince frightened her, his subtle show of warmth and humor was not lost on her. She understood more clearly how he inspired loyalty.

Servitude to her sire was not something she was opposed to. Indeed she would do anything he asked of her as it was. Perhaps that was because of his generous nature, and the fact that he never abused his power over her, or was anything but kind. "I will do so gladly." she says honestly.

Another bit of music this time another Kindred, one of the Daeva is giving an opera performance, and while her Red dress is borderline illicit in the way it is cut, her talent for music is amazing.

Re: All too swiftly I descend into the night.

In reply to The Uncaring Night (msg # 63):

Jacqueline curtsies again to the prince before following her sire. She hardly remembers the walk back to their seats once they return to them. Her relief is so great she actually sighs. The following preformance is much more enjoyable for her. She finds herself breathing out of habit as she is lost in the music. Not a bad habit to keep while in public, but wholly unecissary here.

She wonders what lessons and tasks she will be asked to complete training as an invictus. She brushes out the satin of her dress, pinched into bunches by her padded chair. She knows what just happened was important, perhaps more important to her than the others involved knew. It heralded with finality, her exit from the mortal world and into a new life. Her human parents would be led to believe she was dead in the next few weeks, along with the rest of the world. She had a new purpose, even a new name.

Jacqueline looks to her sire. "Thank you." she says. It was made clear to her that kindred faced an eternal battle of dwindling humanity. Indeed that this was no gift. But she was glad to be what she was now, even for the bad parts of it. This was better than she ever would have achieved as a mortal; racing the pre-marked path set for her to what? Even if this life wasn't perfect, it was hers.

"And might be a bit fun, actually even if your not there to enjoy the show, and it shows how well you understand the art of theater, which is important to the invictus."

In reply to The Uncaring Night (msg # 65):

Jacqueline considers his words carefully. Not many people got to plan their own funeral. The process was not without some heartache, but she agreed that it was important.

The foremost thought with reguards to theater, would be of black, sleek and polished. A subtle refference to the power that taken hold of her. No bright colors or cheery flowers to return the semblance of life. The sense of finality and austere nature of death's claim would be the underscored theme. The coffin would have to be black walnut, with black velvet interior. Dark roses would add, though roses were strange for a funeral. Tulips and lilies were just far too green for her purposes. Catering should be rich foods, mirroring the prestige of the clan she had been embraced into; roasts, cheeses, pate, mousse, nut tarts. Of course kindred could not eat these things (that she knew of), but they reflected a certain class type.

Jacqueline was grateful for her sire's help. She plans with him the next few nights, knowing she cannot have any direct contact with her parents.

Voluntary torpor sounds much more appealing to her. However, the prospect of not waking up for serval months was too risky. Eddie had been informed of her absence, but she would not want to leave him for such a long period without vitae. Because of what he knew, she could not risk flagging loyalty.

She straightens, as if coming to a decision. "I will have to endure the staking. If I don't wake immediately from a voluntary torpor, there could be consequences.". Discomfort was a small price to pay for security.

The games of etiquette kindred of the first estate played do not surprise her. Elysium had reminded her of the high court of a european power, more than what the greek name implied. She would have to be clever and observant to survive in this order. At least it was to her advantage that she had no power at all in this organization yet. She was not a very tempting target; the gain was too little to risk any crime to claim it.

She was a fan of satin she had decided while browsing for her formal dress. A black satin dress covering her chest and baring her arms would be formal, yet hint at her youth. The combination of youth surrounded by stark unyeilding black would create quite and effect.

She sips at her cup, glad the maid had brought it. She was becoming much more fond of the woman. She had not fed much recently, fearing she would lose herself to a frenzy. She was well enough now to hunt, but this night had been a busy one.

"I think black satin would be in order. I enjoy the fabric, and it will add."

"It goes well, my instructor is excellent.". She had approached the lessons with the determination of someone who knew they would have to use what they were learning. "As for other disciplines; I haven't given them much thought. I will have to consider them more carefully." She had already decided what type of business she wanted to run. She planned on approaching the pregnant woman she had frightened sense into (she hoped), the next night. Of course she would have to introduce herself by her new name. "I have decided after the funeral, I will open a clothing store. I have enough capital to start it, though it will use the very last of what my parents gave me.". She had already withdrawn and stored cash at her haven, otherwise she would not be able to use it after her "death". Clothing seemed like a safe investment in this town. Not only was the retail markup substancial, but there was a noticable lack of higher end retail. Well off students and professors would have to looks elsewhere if they wanted luxery clothing.

This brings up another point she had not considered "What would happen to that pregnant woman if I gave her my blood?".

Children born for slavery, and who are much more readily trained, then ordinary humans, and can move between being ghouled to not much more easily" He sighs deciding to explain the details

"If my Maid or Eddie were to stop getting blood they'd go through rapid aging that is agonizingly painful, and then either be left worse for wear or crumple into dust"

"But a family ghoul who stops getting blood simply resumes aging at the normal rate, no pain screams... needless to say such servants are considered valuable."

"But So you know The chances are..." He pauses

"Low... if you want to breed family ghouls usualy you spend time picking out good stock then ghoul them a month or so before attempting conception you dont wait to wait longer or else their bodies will become too stolid, and no longer able to process the living energy of creating a child. There is tremendous pressure on them from the school to produce research money.. She had observed much already in her short time at university. Observation and analysis were why she was here so young in the first place.

"Forming a blood bond with one of the owners of the university, as well as manipulating the student body, would be the fastest way to influence any aspect we want.". She, of course, would do anything he asked of her. She wanted his efforts to be well returned though. It would take some research to find where the money really went. Universities after all, wanted to appear less as companies and more as charities. The owners were not highly visable.

In reply to The Uncaring Night (msg # 79):

Jacqueline had purchased a small safe for her faux documents. For all intents and purposes they were her real documents now. She had thought to purchase a bank deposit box instead, but the less opportunities for questions about her youthful appearance, the better. Aside from the fact she would be completely reliant on Eddie to retrieve them for her.

She had sent off the proper copies and forms with Eddie to apply for a business lisence. He hadn't even questioned her reasons when she had asked. It was processing currently, she was sure. She had her eye on an empty venue slightly removed from the businesses surrounding the school. She left a message for the owners the previous night, explaining her interest and desire to view the property during an after hours meeting. It was a medium sized plot, with small shops on either side. The area of town was the old, and original center of town. It was littered with botiques, charming little restaurants, and decades worth of public art contributions. The buildings themselves were old brick or wood, restored and carefully painted. It was the most suitable place in the city for high retail. She was waiting to hear back. She could not, of course, use Sadie's cellphone for any current business. Rather she was using Eddie's home phone, but would need a cellphone.

Once she secured a property, she would contact the vendors, but not before. Because of the lack of credit associated with an i.d. that declared she was barely 18, she would have to put down a large payment with the vendor. Vendors traditionally sold on credit, but in her case, were only willing to lend half of what she needed.

Tonight she would have to feed again. But while it was still early, she planned on approaching the pregnant woman about managing her business. For this, she would need to dress the part. She tucked in her white formal shirt into her tailored skirt. Over this she slipped a fitted formal jacket. Her hair she tied up elaborately; good grooming hinted at authority. The suit itself was a unusual dark and patterned piece, and she added blush to help combat the paleness of her skin against it. Her heels clicked on the floor as she exited her room. Eddie was in the kitchen, heating a premade dinner; what, she wasn't sure. "Good evening Eddie. How's it going?"

She hands him three hundred dollar bills. "Thank you Eddie, you're a lifesaver.", she smiles. She starts to leave, then turns back. She had not given Eddie blood in awhile, and he surely must want some. She bites her arm, grabbing a clean empty glass and catching the drops. She lets nearly and inch seep into the glass before covering the small wound. She sets the glass on the table within Eddie's view and walks out the back door.

She had finally taken her sire up on the offer of a car. While she insisted on independence when she could, her funds were limited, with many demands on them now. She could not deny the need for a car any longer. The car itself was a nice, nondescript black audi. Not too flashy, but respectable. She had never been very impressed by cars, but she was very touched by her sire's gifting of it.

She pulls up to the familar apartment complex. The power lines had been repaired, but the poles still bore black char marks. She walks across the scalped grass and onto the cracked walkway leading to the apartment she had in mind. She knocks, noticing the light cheap sound of the wood making up the door. She looked at the distastefully painted high gloss green, waiting for the door to be answered.

In reply to The Uncaring Night (msg # 89):

She leaves Rachel to enjoy the rest of her night in peace. She starts the car, thinking about where she will go to hunt. Her usual tricks wouldn't be appropriate in this costume. Perhaps she should try seduction? She had never seduced anyone before, either in life or as kindred. She would likely be able to manipulate her way into a bar. How would she know her limits if she didn't try after all?

The lot of the The Crowbar was small. All of the parking in the old part of town was overcrowded; it had been built for a smaller population, and boxed in by surrounding expansion. She parked on the street. The bar itself had a sign of a crow behind a martini glass, holding an olive in its beak. The subtle and cheery light of the bar poured from its windows. The interior was painted red, and chicly decorated. Although students came here as well, it was not a typical college dive bar. People came here as much for the atmosphere as the drinks.

Jacqueline walks through the door, and to the well dressed doorman just inside. Her black pumps make her at least 3 inches taller, but also accentuate her long, thin bodytype. It is the body of someone lacking the mature curves of an adult woman. Luckily her suit hides a good deal, being designed to cover the breast and make hips look flared. She presents her i.d., not sure if persuasion will be needed or not.

Jacqueline leans closer to him as if whispering, not wanting to make the intensity of her gaze too obvious to onlookers. She stares intently into the man's eyes. "I can tell you take your job very seriously. That's good, the world needs more people like you.". She smiles "Your dedication is important in maintaining the standards of the whole city. You see, I too am interested in upholding and improving the city. This is why in my particular case, it is very important I not be hindered by regulations meant to keep order for those unable to see the larger picture."

She was trying to give the impression of importance and moral integrity; that she was not someone for whom the rules need apply.

She seizes her chance, stating simply "I am 21.". She was certain her attempt would fail, but glad it didn't. She gently takes her i.d. back from him, nodding to him as if he had approved her of his own volition.

She seats herself at one of the neat tables against the wall. A female staff member is by momentarily. She looks at Jacqueline a little strangely, but says nothing; the doorman must have carded her. "Vodka and cranberry please." she says. She has no intention of drinking it of course, but it wouldn't do to sit with no glass.

She sits, calmly observing the room, and thinking about the events which would take place in the next few weeks. She is hungry, and any mortal that shows interest will do tonight. She bring her glass to her lips, pretending to sip.

The man looks good in the carefully planned lighting. Of course, everyone looked good in custom lighting. She leaves her drink sitting in front of her, not touching it. If she sipped at it too much it would become obvious she was only pretending to drink it. Come to think of it, she wasn't really sure what would happen is she did eat or drink anything. She had never asked, and the only other time she had tried she had found it unsatisfying; she had actually ended up throwing it up.

She raises an eyebrow "So, are you a student?"

"Hold your breath for 3 minutes." she commands. Whatever else he might do, lack of air would certainly leave him at a disadvantage. If she was lucky, maybe he would even pass out. She certainly had to dispose of this man at some point, in some way. She could not leave him to prey upon the female population. It drew far too much police attention to the murder rate in this city. Maybe if she got him caught it would be far more useful to her than his death. Killing for pleasure alone and saving bodies the life had fled from struck her as slightly disgusting. Such a waste.

She waits for the man to obey, and swings her hand upward towards his nose. She wants him as close to blinded as possible. The tearful , pain induced clouding of a broken nose would be ideal. If she is to leave him alive, she will need to draw enough blood to make him pass out, or wait until his lack of oxygen makes him black out. She must be careful not to make it too obvious what she is. She will have to leave no wound, and leave him confused. It's not as if he will share this experience with anyone she muses, almost comically.

She knows full well she cannot embrace, and wouldn't want to embrace the likes of him anyway. He doesn't know this though. The idea of becoming kindred should be extremely appealing to someone like him.

She waits for his reaction, atempting to dominate his mind. She wants him to find her appealing, and to accept her offer. In that case she will simply drain and dismember him, rather than truly embracing him. The process is pretty similar, so he won't know the difference anyway, if he does accept.

After what seems like a very short time, the man's pulse starts to falter. She has to allow his weight to sink to the ground. She seldom could allow herself to drain someone so completely; it was incredibly satisfying.

She is ironically very glad of the machete as she removes his head and limbs. The police would likely be more than a little confused at the grizzly scene. She wipes clean the weapon's handle, and the glass she had used. She wasn't sure if the invictus had influence with the police, but she didn't want to have to rely on that.

Jacqueline lets herself out with the key, wiping it and throwing it in the nearby bushes on her way out. She would need to tell her sire of this. In this particular case, killing that man was more of a public service than an indiscretion on her part. It had gotten her thinking though. She would need more regular haunts for feeding. If he hadn't been such a liability, she may have even kept him as a ghoul. It had crossed her mind.

For now, dawn was only a few hours off. She retreats to her haven. Eddie is asleep when she enters, but hears her come in. He had fallen asleep on the couch, and sat up yawning. "Good evening Eddie. I've had one hell of a night.". She sits next to him in a friendly gesture. Also, she was feeling quite worn out, and enjoyed the creature comfort. Her earlier semblance of warmth and life had gone, and she was cold and pale once more. She removes her heels, glad she hadn't bloodied her clothes. Her body did not grow tired in the same manner it had when she was mortal, but it still felt good to sit.

Jacqueline instructs Eddie to hide the assorted jewelry she had come across. There was no pressing need to sell it yet, and the longer she waited, the less chance it would be linked with any missing women. She warns Eddie she may be gone for a few days to weeks. She was planning on being in forced torpor only a day or two, but something may not go according to plan. She reguards Eddie seriously "You know I haven't been what I am very long? I have to show my family I'm dead. You and my maker will be the only other beings that know I exist.". She gives him the location of the plot that had been chosen, and warns him of behaving if he should ever cross paths with her sire. Somehow having Eddie know was comforting; and probably wise as a backup. She leaves Eddie with a small glass containing an inch or so of vitae.

Jacqueline's outfit looked casual, but she had actually selected it quite carefully. She had paired skinny jeans with thin black sneakers, and a pink long sleeved shirt. Over it she wore a simple hooded zip sweater. She nervously seats herself on the familar leather furnature of her sire's sitting room. She feels a knot in her chest. If she was human, her palms would be sweating. Not only does she fear the pain of being staked, but the significance of the next few days is not lost on her. She would wake to a world where she had severed ties with everything she had known before.

Her sire nods "While staked you'll see and hear things that are likely going to be disturbing but none of its real, try to hold on to that."

With that he gets out a stake, and without further preamble Drives it thru her heart

For a brief instant it is painful... then she feels cold and crippling lassitude

Jacqueline barely has time to flinch before the stake decends on her. If she had a moment to think, she may have been grateful. She concieve of falling, or of anything much more than pain and cold.

Sadie looks at the faces of the adults speaking about her, some glacing at her, but most engaged with one another. She feels the old disguarded restraint press once again on her uncomfortably. She wants to interject, but mouth can't seem to form the words. The scripted responces pour from her as if someone else controls her body. She throws the impulses to move an arm, a limb, anything. To no effect. She is a prisoner in her own body. She wants to scream against the building panic, but it only makes her feel more bound.

The sunlight moves in a strange way, churning slightly and un-naturally. Wait, sunlight? Something about that seems important, but her mind is foggy. The faces on her peripheral vision distort, yet snap into focus when looked at directly.

No matter how she struggled, she stayed firmly anchored in her preprogrammed body. She was truly powerless, without even the ability to perish and free herself in death. She lamented how she had come to such a pitiable existance.

Jacqueline can see too blurry figures struggling. She walks through a hallway she recognizes as her sire's haven. It is much longer than it should be, in fact it seems to stretch on forever. As she nears the struggling shadows, the darkness lurking in corners and behind furnature begins to creep out. The light retreats until only a ten foot radius around her is lit, and she reaches the figures. It is her sire and an unknown kindred. The sheer, obvious strength opponant is frightening. He holds a stake which he pushes ever closer to her sire's chest. She knows if he is forced into torpor, his opponant will devour him.

She screams, rushing at the combatants. Her footsteps slow to a crawl, her arms weigh down. Her stretching hands are clawed in a way she has never seen before, but they feel as if they belong to her.

Theirs a half dozen people there including her sire the others have shovels, clearly a lot of work went into digging her up.

"We decided to wait 5 days so their wouldnt be too much attention to your grave, didnt want grass to have allready grown over it either 5 days seemed like a nice round number"

Apparently she had decayed as a normal body would have in torpor, and she felt like a decayed body. Her flesh was discolored and sallow; her nails and fingertips a sickly dark blue-green. Her neatly combed hair and black dress were very much at odds with the vistage of death it framed.

She blinks in confusion at her sire "How could I not know you?". Just speaking is a supreme effort of will. Her dream still seemed very real, as dreams do in the first waking moments, before they are dispelled. "Did you kill him?" she asks.

Her attention is driven to the surrounding shovel bearers, and her senses drink in their smells; the sounds of their hearts. She is filled with a rabit, all-consuming need. Her darkened fingers grab at the dirt at the edge of ther grave, and she claws at the loose dirt. After a second she gains purchase and lifts herself up with great difficulty. The grass beyond is wet and slick. She heads toward the nearest heartbeat, unable to think of anything else.

Jacqueline's first order of business was to alter her appearance. She enters the house through the back door leading into the kitchen as she normally did. Eddie was bound to be worried; though she had warned him she might be gone up to several weeks. She heads straight for the bathroom. The old tiny tilework was original to the house, off-white with pretty blue patterns. She shed her soiled dress and shoes, wrapping herself in a towel. She knew the basics of cutting hair, but she had never used dye before. She opened the cabinet under the sink where she had stashed a box of hair dye. It was much much lighter brown than her natural color, but not quite blond. She had considered blond possibly too eye catching, and she didn't want to be noticed all that much for awhile.

After rinsing the dye out of her hair, and washing her grubby self, she reaches for the sizzors. She was no stylist, but could do a decent enough job.

She admires herself for a moment, making sure the cut was even before retreating to her room to dress. She is reluctant to touch the dirty dress and shoes again, but not because of the dirt. She leaves them where they fell on the floor. The dreams and loss of the last five days are something she does not want to dwell on right now.

She emerges dressed in a sheerful pink dress with spandex leggings that ended in lace around the knees. She seeks out Eddie, knowing he must have heard her. "What do you think? Different enough?"

Jacqueline sees the practicality of keeping the coffin, and agrees it is a good idea. "Thank you." she says sincerely. She knows much if not all of this would not have been possible without her sire. Some kindred no doubt, had much less nurturing makers, and had to struggle much harder because of it.

She wonders if she will see her sire on the hunt himself; but he doesn't seem like he really needs to anymore. She will spend the next week in his area. She supposes it's only lucky no other kindred were in her immediate area when she was embraced. Perhaps her sire had considered that.

The shorter cut of her hair feels strange against her neck. She moves it experimentally. She replies to Eddie "burn it.". She shudders. She would never be able to use it anyway, lest it be recognized. But even if she could, she wouldn't.

"I need to sleep Eddie, the dawn isn't far off.", she touches his arm affectionately, before retreating to her light-tight room. Soon she would need to get a bed. But tomorrow night she planned on contacting the property owner of her chosen venue for a formal viewing. She had not been sure when she would be able to contact them again, but they had already agreed to a night time viewing. She is already quite sure about the property, but this last step was more to confirm and sign papers. She breathes in simply to let out a long breath, relaxing into her nest like pile of comforter and blanket, hugging her stuffed animal to her.

Jacqueline had put on a "adult" costume; a grey pencil skirt with a thick grey formal shirt, tailored to be close fitting. She was establishing a high end store after all. She carried a small leather sachet-style brief case, which held assorted papers and the revolver she had agreed she would carry. She wouldn't need it tonight, but it was a habit she was determined to keep.

The glass door was unlocked. It was framed by old wood framed window boxes, recently painted and in beautiful condition. The storefront conveyed the sort of well-established, restored beauty she wanted. The owner was just inside, under lights towards the back of the building.

"Nice to finally meet you Mr. Tanly, thank you for agreeing to come out at this hour.". She keeps her posture, carefully cultivating the image of her she wants him to have. "As you know, I'm quite pleased with this property. I've already made my decision, if you've brought the paperwork. I'd like to begin stocking this week, and be open by next."

Jacqueline looks around silently. The wood floors reflected the lights outside, and the faint sounds of nearby bar and restaurent patrons reaches her ears. The street was charmingly lit by strings of white lights after sunset. It was a popular area for shopping and dining, and most visitors to the city ended up here.

She steps cleanly on her heels, making her way out and locking the door behind her. There is a pleasent breeze tonight. It pulls at her senses. She feels restless against the responsibilities that had weighed on her lately. The entire point to her wanting power, was also to free her from it. She wanted nothing more than to flit about for the rest of the night. There was still one more thing to attend to however. She pulls her phone out, dialing the recently programmed number titled "Rachel Douglas". She wais for it to ring, not sure if she will need to just leave a message.

I will check in to see how things are going in a few days. Until then.. She hangs up, happy to be relieved of the last obligation for the night.

Jacqueline enters her haven again, this time impatiently and with pent up energy. Letting go of her previous life had loosed something in her as well. She changes her clothing to a tight long-sleeved black dress. She adds neon pink tights and high pink heels. Though she still looked young, the cut of the dress and additional height of the heels helped offset it. If she wanted to play with the inebriated an unaware, she would have to look the part. She pulls on her fluffy animal backpack, zipping up the revolver and a large knife in it.

"Eddie, I need you to deliver this to a Rachel Douglas tomorrow., she hands him one small silver colored key. She does not explain her outfit, but says only "I'm going out."

Jacqueline is struck by pity for the kindred in front of her. She takes no offense to his spitefulness or language, knowing he is partially right. She had been chosen by a powerful kindred, that had taken her under his wing. The only thing that seperated them was circumstance. Well....perhaps not the only thing. The greatness he sensed was part of the essence which her sire had endowed her with. A birthright if there ever was one. He had not been so lucky.

She drops her stance of aggression, straightening. "Then ask my permission. I will allow you to hunt on my territory. I will speak for you to my sire as well. I cannot promise his acceptance.". She steps closer, testing "If you ask, I will say yes. And while I allow you on my land, I will offer you some protection as long as you don't cause problems.".

His plight had moved her to mercy. The first night she had been left to find her feet had afforded her the barerest hint of the struggle this kindred endured. He lacked her sophistication, yet she felt the only right thing to do was offer him her hand. If he would take it.

Her youth and the fact the was "leaving" with him might raise a few eyebrows on the more sober patrons. She leans close as if divulging something alcohol induced, but says softly "On the contrary, I hope to get into politics.".

Eric Tanner's situation was precisely why she wanted the power playing politics could afford her. He was beholden no nobody, yet he had no real freedom. He lived in the shadow of the court at great risk.

As they get further away from the noise of the club, the crowd thins. A few people are scattered along the wet sidewalk, making their way to businesses still open at this hour. Many of them were drunk and seeking out food. She lets Eric lead in earnest, he would know the best place for what he offered to teach her.

Jacqueline knows drinking his blood could make her vulnerable to him. He might very well be telling the truth. Unsure what effect a command would have on another of her kind she locks her intensity and focus on him. A command rolls from her throat "Tell the truth.". It is not meant as an insult to him, merely as a safety precaution.

She could not expect to gain knowledge without some risk, but she would at least use the abilities at her dispense before accepting blood.

This stands in sharp contrast to the power she now feels coursing through her

The spider taking the fly caught in its web

The shark seeking fish, slowly, yet inevitably

The tiger racing through the jungle

She listens attentively to Eric's instructions. After many attempts, she manages the ground swallowing the length of one arm. The grass is scarred with a perminant ripple; she is far less graceful at it than he.

After a time she asks curiously 'Did you know your sire?"

Jacueline bites as delicately as she can, not wanting to cause him undue pain. To her surprise he actually seems to enjoy it. That was something she would have to take note of; apparently those with a blood bond experienced feeding differently.

She takes only enough to satify her hunger, careful to lick the wound when she withdrew. "Thank you Eddie.". She pauses "Make sure you drink some water.". She exits through the back kitchen door. Her outfit was pure black today, and the darkness outside swallowed her readily. She had been told the kindred who shared her alignments had a flair for the dramatic, and she thought the black skirt and velvet long sleeved top with tie were appropriate to that. Having just "died" to the world, and needing to eminate formality for tonight, her dark outfit carried the perfect amount of morbidity and a twist of humor.

Before dropping in on Rachel, she pulls up to the front door of her budding business. She is pleased to see the sign she ordered was already installed, and the window displays were in the process of being set up. Her copy of the keys clink as she opens the glass door. There is no need for her to turn the lights on; she doesn't need them.

A mixture of full and empty racks and displays are carefully arranged. Half the stock had arrived apparently. She makes her way back to the small office. The desk is full of papers and receipts. A desklamp sits on its surface, and an empty mug. Satisfied with the store's progress, she walks out and locks the door behind her. If everything else arrived on time, and Rachel had found employees of decent caliber, opening this next week should be possible.

It only takes 7 minutes to drive to Rachel's nearby apartment. She wonders if Rachel is planning on moving now that her income had increased. Surely she did not intend to stay here. Indeed the store would have to open soon, and start earning, because the account numbers she had given Rachel did not have endless funds.

She knocks on the cheap ghastly colored door.

Jacqueline smiles, delighted with Rachel's efficency and competance. "Thank you for your excellent work so far. If you have trouble contacting me, please contact a man named Eddie at this phone number. I am simply not available during the day, but he will take a message if it's important.", she hands her a written phone number. She is careful not to contact Rachel's skin. She had not made the effort to warm herself tonight.

Jacqueline looks down at Rachel's belly. A bump is just starting to show. She is not surprised though. Twenty weeks was the usual time to determine the sex of the baby, and just about anyone started to show then. If you need anything, let me know.". She had given serious thoughts to her sire's advise about creating a blood bond with Rachel. The risk to the baby was just too high for Jacqueline's liking though. She smiles again, faintly and leaves without further discussion.

Jacqueline didn't bother to change her clothes before seeking out Eric. She wonders what he will make of her carefully coordinated presentation. She walks out into the dark park area, strolling and waiting.

Jacueline gives Eric a strange look, but replies simply "Alright". She falls silent for a minute before saying "I've decided I want to teach you the ability to command. You don't have many options for acceptance within kindred society, and I want to give you one.". It wasn't Eric's fault he had been embraced then abandoned, It wasn't his fault he had ben embraced into the clan he was. If such a thing had happened to a Ventrue, they would not have turned their backs so readily. At least she hopes not.

She is not sure if Eric knows just how big a gift this is. Ventrue was prideful, and did not let lend it's power away easily. She bites her arm, drawing blood, and offering it to Eric.

Jacqueline pulls her arm back after he draws away, holding it upward slightly against her body. "Within the vitae there is an innate authority. Do you feel it?". She watches him carefully. This area of the park is not lit at all, but she doesn't need the light to see him. "That is what you use to issue a command. It must be something simple, and short. It must also be something that is reasonable. You cannot command someone to jump off of a cliff or slash their wrists. It has to be within the realm of natural possibility for them.".

She hopes Eric will use the ability responsibly. If he doesn't she may be held accountable. She would have to monitor his movement for awhile. If he proved dangerous to her, she might have to make efforts to control or eliminate him. She also isn't completely sure what a blood exchange between them will do beyond the trading of skills or abilities. His blood had surely encouraged the wild natured part of her, which is rarely allowed to the surface. She had liked it though.

Eddie is asleep when she arrives. She is careful not to wake him; there was no reason to do so tonight. He would need his rest if Rachel needed to contact him, or if Jacqueline asked favors of him.

She makes an effort to move silently, and retreats to her sleeping place. Tomorrow she would have to ask Eddie to buy her a mattress. Sleeping in a closet didn't become the new image she was making for herself.

Jacqueline wakes in the darkness of her closet. She slides the door open as she does every evening, and steps out of her nest of blankets and comforters. Tonight she has no official business to attend, so she decides to don a younger looking costume. She slips on a tee and thin sweater that comes down to her mid-theigh. The pink leggings match the color theme of the sweater, which also has small ear-like pieces of cloth sown onto the hood. The puts on her fluffy animal backpack, containing her small selection of weapons. Tonight she also packs her bathing suit; a frilly pink two peice. She knew how to swim, and well, but buying a simple athletic one peice didn't seem like it would serve her any purpose if she did happen to need a suit. Now she wishes she had purchased a one peice as well; it would be far more practical. It wasn't important enough that she felt she needed to bother getting another however.

She walks into the living room to find Eddie. He was almost always in the living room or kitchen. "Good evening Eddie.". She faces him fully "You know, if you're going to be acting as my personal assistant, I may as well make it official. I suppose there is more there than just a business relationship, but I think it's only fair you should be paid for what you do for me. I also provided you as my daytime contact for my store manager. What do you think?"

She supposes it's easy not to desire comfort when you had already been given a measure of it; and she had. He was right in theory though, other kindred would judge him based on such things. It also surely afforded him no power, and hinted that he had none to speak of. She steps into the small adjoining bathroom, and exchanges the pink frilly bathing suit for her clothes. Her body looks thin and immature in the suit, but the shape of it hides some.

She steps out, backpack slung over one shoulder, and leaves the door open for Eric.

Swimming had lost most of it's charm for Jacqueline after the years of swim team she had participated in. She shrugged anyway; she was interested to swim now that she didn't have to breathe anymore. "I doubt a little cloudy water will kill us." she says, not meaning it to be a joke.

She follows Eric down to the hotels small pool. She sets her backpack nearby, where she could reach it easily. Very unlikely they would run into trouble here, but it was a good habit to always have her things within reach. Without preamble, she dives into the pool shallowly.

The water holds no shock for once. Her body temperature is exactly the same as the water. She holds a depth of 2 feet, and pulls several well trained strokes toward the deep end. She wonders what Eric could possibly have to teach her as she surfaces.

She had shown some talent at swimming in former years, but nothing more than that. It had been another activity to add to her transcript. After about an hour, she feels she has gained as much as she can from working with the water. She has noticed, unless she takes a breath and holds it, she is far less buoyant than before.

She lifts herself out of the pool, not bothering to dry. The temperature had no effect on her. She addresses Eric "I may be more pressed for time very shortly. I am about to begin night classes, and several other endevors related to them.". She pauses "If I don't see you for some time, please do your best not to kill or cause mayhem in my territory. We will have to be cautious feeding in the same area.".

Jacqueline had never fed from an animal. The idea seems slightly distasteful, and far less exciting than feeding from humans. She says nothing though, only bowing slightly before slipping her clothes on and taking her leave.

She had some hours left before dawn, and hadn't enjoyed a free night in weeks. It was a lovely night; cool with a slight breeze. Very inviting. She drives her car back to the main drag of the student hangouts, parking just outside of the best lit area. She exits aimlessly, strolling along the sidewalk. The concrete had been poured a very long time ago, and sparkled in the lamp light. That had been popular long before she was born, but she had to admit it had a certain charm to it. At this hour, only the most desperate of students were up studying. And of course the most drunken or high of party goers. A handful of the businesses boasted being open 24 hours: the coffee house, local kinkos, pizza place, and a bookstore. All lured the type of clientele awake at this time with one or more strategies; greasy food, caffeine and comfortable study nooks.

Jacqueline is more than a little surprised at the fratboy's reaction. His blood seems to have an especially sweet note to it, and she bites slightly deeper, enjoying the hot blood running over her tongue. Reluctantly she withdraws, not wanting to leave him dying in the alleyway. She licks the poorly clotting wounds to erase any trace of her feeding.

She looks the fratboy over, thinking, and allowing him to see her. If she presented herself as underage, he would not discuss what they did, and he actually enjoyed being fed on. She slides her hand into his pocket, drawing out his cellphone. He offers no resistance; doesn't even question her in fact. His face makes it clear he is swimming in the afterglow of whatever pleasure the feeding had brought him. She was at a loss as to why he had reacted this way, but why spit in the face of fortune? She enters her own cell number, and hands it back "We'll do this again.". She waves behind her with the fingers of one hand as she walks out into the street, leaving him where he stood unsteadily.

Jacqueline has to admit she has no idea what would qualify as tasteful when it comes to golf. "I would be glad of the help, it is not something I know much about.". She would wait for his summons, since the next night she would be attending her first round of classes since the embrace.

She was actually looking forward to classes. School was something familar; her arena. She would also need to start becoming more involved in the social workings of the university, at her sire's request. She had a lot of investigating to do, to see where manipulation or a blood bond would be most effective in achieving her ends. Applying to internships under certain professors would give her access to the administrative side if she played it right. But for now it would be easier to get involved in student clubs or government. If she did well enough in those, she might even kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.

Respectfully, Jacqueline excuses herself, and bids her sire goodnight. Tonight was a good night to wander around; students were out on the town more around the beginning of semesters. In particular, she knows she will need to make a group of friends. Friends with ties to major circles. This would take some observation.

Jacqueline follows her sire's reccomendations on equipment and clothing, not at all concerned about what she wears, and not having any real opinion on equipment herself. She does however, carefully note the places of interest. Restaurants would be an obsticle for her, she would probably have to avoid them unless dining proved absolutely necessary.

The only real difficulty with trying to cultivate power in influence within the student population, was the rapidly changing nature of it. Most students only stayed 1-4 years (depending on if they flunked out). Many transfered after 4 years to complete higher degrees at places more specific to their field. In that sense, targeting student leaders and administrators would have the most lasting effect. It would be very helpful if she could become an organizer for the student government and groups. She simply could not afford the time and effort of being invloved in so many things at once. But someone who handled the schedualing, printed off copies and took down messages for them all would allow her access without too much effort. Ironically, this position which she desired was easy to obtain; it was volunteer work at the student center.

Jacqueline surprisingly shows geniune distatse at the brutalities her sire mentions. "If I have to resort to barbarity to hold power over people, my grip on power is poor indeed.". The way she saw it, power gained through abuse and lack of respect for things so innate they could break blood bonds, was not the type of power she wanted. If she did ever do anything to shatter the blood bond, she didn't deserve Rachel's servitude.

She hadn't given her blood yet anyway. She probably would in the future, for safe measure. Rachel was not so important she could not be replaced. Jacqueline would rather free her than ruin her in some way. In a strange way, she felt a little protective of Rachel; in the same way she did for Eddie. If it came to it, she would rather let either of them free. Even if it meant trouble for her.

She doesn't share these thoughts with her sire however. She just doesn't think he would approve of her closeness to these mortals.

Jacqueline looks hesitant. "What am I to do if I run across one of these creatures again? Have we no defense?". She had to admit she had the pride indicitive in her clan, and did not want to run from a fight. However, it would do no good to fight something she could not defeat.

"Precious little recourse my dear, the Circle of the crone, or the Sanctum, with their Sorcery, are somewhat better at making war on such creatures.... Fire and Sunlight both drive them back... if you find a Strix possesing a host, set it on Fire, with no way, at all, for it to flee anywhere

and you've likely destroyed the Strix"

sighs

"still yes it is probaly best to flee,  to hope they dont give you more notice"

Carresses her arm gently

"I'm just trying to keep you safe, you understand that dear?" He asks.

In reply to The Uncaring Night (msg # 252):

"I understand." she says gratefully. The possibility she may still have something to fear in the shadows was not only surprising, but also unwelcome. She had liked the freedom of no longer needing to fear the dark. She had simply assumed kindred were the most dangerous things lurking under the proverbial bed.

She muses to herself, that it might be nice to test just how dangerous these creatures are. Even to talk to one. Since she had come to the university, she had been more and more reckless. After a lifetime of doing only proper and safe things, of staying inside the lines at all times, she yearned to step outside of them from time to time. Her embrace had introduced her to the ideas of ruin and abandon. After all, she had technically died. All those rules and all that propriety, and had it helped keep her alive? Had she been glad she had avoided every danger and pitfall?

After nearly a full three minutes of silence, Jacqueline asks quietly "Has anyone ever talked to one?"

"But why? Why is that?". It seemed strange to her kindred would be so offended by something that could hunt and kill them, when they themselves preyed on humans. Not that human and kindred were on the same playing field, certainly. Surely there must be some deeper reason behind the circle and lancea sanctum's sweeping judgement. Perhaps it was because the loss of humanity went hand in hand with a loss of control for kindred. The strix did encourage that.

he sighs for a moment then adds

"The Strix seek to make us just that...

The Sanctums volumes forbid any traffic with them if ever read the testament of longinus you will note this"

"The circle while they accept that monstrousity may be our final fate, and show a rare serenity, even in the face of the prospect of becoming Draugr, viewing it simply as "The end of a cycle" their no more eager to see that happen then anyone else, as how can they continue to honor the gods, if they lose all emotional stability... rather then engaging in bloody primal worship, they lose any capacity for higher emotions , such as faith. "

"The strix are rationaly, intelligently, methodicaly and calcuatingly unremittingly EVIL in a way no Kindred ever could be"

"We go insane in short order when we act like them"

He pauses and asks "Would you be interested my dear in learning how to speak with and command animals, my dear they make good sentrys or scouts, and many other cunning uses" He advises smiling...

"And an advanced sset of skills building off of Animalism, is the ability to influence humans, or other vampires, animalistic instincts, useful for many things."

he pauses "Have you any reason to travel, people you wish to see or places you wish to go?" He asks her curiously

"Know that most kindred do not travel,It will be rare indeed where you have the opportunity to do so, many kidnred are only academicly aware that their are other community, many view those who travel regularly, as vagabonds, with little regard for the traditions, and all too often this is the case, though their are legitimate reasons to travel, if you achieve great wealth, and want a penthouse, or such, obviously you'll need to move to New york, seattle, vegas, or someplace like that...

he nods and bids her good night

Well she visits Eric again in the park and is able to with reasonable certainty join the earth and separate from it, like with a drop of water added to the pool

"Only so much more I can teach ya, you might want to find other gangrel to learn a bit off of them" He advises...

In reply to The Uncaring Night (msg # 258):

Jacqueline had spent more than a few hours selecting what she thought would be an appropriate outfit. She had settled on a chiffon dress with a dull finish in a clean shade of ivory. Though it demurely wrapped around most of her shoulders, it left her clavicles exposed. It had been stitched with clean hard lines, creating more than one layer in some places. Though it was made to appear artistically slightly random and effortless, it was actually painstakingly tailored to the body it surrounded. A filmy gausy over-layer covered just the lower part of the dress. It reminded Jacqueline of very expensive clean white sheets in the elegance of a well made dress, as strange as it sounded. She had kept her jewelery simple; a glittering set of crystal earrings, and nothing else.

She arrived early in the night, before the other guests. She wanted to be there for introductions. It was also appropriate she should arrive first, as her sire's childe. Mostly she was concerned with passing the night without making a social or political blunder.

She greets her sire, somewhat nervously. More than strictly nerves, she is excited and frightened all at once.

An hour into it, the Daeva Primogen Mr Westfield is speaking a bit freely

"The Heritage of the Daeva is ancient, ere the days of Rome, Ere, the building of the Pyramids, we were, we ruled in sumeria, the ventrue have ruled only since the fall of rome, yet all too often become princes?" Asks as if he finds that absurd

"Why? A simple talent for directly commanding others? Daeva are smoother, we dont leave the hurt feelings the ventrue do, and charm our way into gaining concessions."

Her sire pauses and asks "Jacqueline, would you  care to answer Mr Westfields statement" Clearly having confidence she can poke holes in his logic.

She continues "As for hurt feelings, surely you don't think Ventrue could compare to the exquisite, effortless grace of the Daeva?. She says this last part teasingly, as if confirming what he already knows. "Our strengths lay in other areas. We can only hope to take a lesson from the Daeva to rule in beauty..

Jacqueline is careful not to address the fact that the Daeva are no longer in power. Moaning about the power that clan held in the past will bring them no closer to holding power now. She accepts the stratagy of the gracious victor, openly agknowledging the areas of superiority in the dethrowned clan.

Surely you would not hold the entire Greek civilization responsible for the unfortunate rule of emperor Nero?. She pauses "I do however, agree with your sentiment on the Ventrue's shunning of modern life. Not only might it prove a weakness, but it might also prove very dangerous. As a newly embraced Ventrue, I only hope I can add the benefits of my age to the wisdom of Ventrue in time.". By this, she means she hopes to change the very concern he pointed out. She is no fool though; she has no power in her clan, and it might take a long time to gain any. She knows she has to maintain a humble stance.

There is no point in hiding anything this obvious from fellow kindred. Perhaps by openly admitting it, she might gain allies outside her own clan.

Re: All too swiftly I descend into the night.

In reply to The Uncaring Night (msg # 301):

Jacqueline nods, grateful for the advise and general encouragement. Her eyes wander over the room, taking in the kindred scattered about it. Some guests were conversing in small groups, with a few pairs and the occasional solitary kindred moving about or observing others.

A slim darker colored Mekhet stands out. Jacqueline isn't sure how she is able to tell, after all, she is barely learning to guess at clan on sight. Something about her tells Jacqueline she must not even be older than herself. Jacqueline wonders if she looks just as lost and unsure as the young kindred she hopes doesn't notice her staring across the room.

It strikes her as ironic she was embraced at such a young age; looking like almost a child in comparision to someone who was actually a younger kindred than she.

Jacqueline leans in in a slightly conspiratorial manner. "Tell me honestly, why do kindred of high standing hate those of particular clans so much?". She pauses, thinking "Surely there is a strength there some must take advantage of."

It had occurred to her that a clever kindred must realize the arbitarary nature of exclusion among their ranks. Perhaps this could serve to keep some pressed into service, but she could not help but think it was sheer luck that she had landed where she had.

Jacqueline returns the slight bow, obviously curious that a Gangrel should be dressed as he is, and an invited guest of her sire. Though she has no real bias against other clans that are not so favored amoung kindred, she is careful to remind herself that his interets may be colored by such a bias. His unspoken lower ranking amoung the clans does not at all mean he is any less clever, experienced or posessing of alterior motives than those she had already met tonight. She would do well to remember it.

"Yes, currently." she says casually, in an agreeable manner. She is sure he must be able to read the intentionally veiled ambition there. "I'm finding certain options becoming clearer to me however. I think many of our kind underestimate the power in diversity.". She says this a bit more quietly, not wanting to offend any of the surrounding guests. Seeking allies outside the traditional clan alliances was not something that was widely accepted. Jacqueline was becoming convinced that would be the only way she would hold real power. Something so unpalatable to some kindred was best spoken quietly.

Jacqueline smiles at the compliment. She watches Giles, assuming he is going to offer her the beautifully made pistol. Before he draws the gun out completely she delicately places her hand on his, tucking the gun back. "I'm of no use to you as an ally without gaining the power of non-controversial contacts first".. She didn't want her first alliances to be public, and especially this one.

She considers the alliance of a Gangrel, and Giles in particular to be potentially invaluable. Surely he must know the danger of being too open though. If others did not approve, he could leave her dead in the water. That would not be beneficial to him either. She was new and untried, so he took as much risk associating with her as she did him. If he wanted anything to come of such an investment of faith, he would surely see the wisdom in silence.

She says under her breath "But an ally you shall have.".

She responds almost immediately "Please, pardon me.". It did not seem intentional on his part, so she assumed it must be a mistake on her part. If it had been intentional, that was another consideration all together.

She looks at the wicked and powerful looking claws where Giles' hands had been, clearly interested.

She would have to relate fully what had happened to her Sire later, when nobody was around to overhear. Compared to a total lack of self control, she had to admit she would rather go mad. Which was lucky for her, since those of her clan tended to.

She wonders if she has not made an enemy tonight. Giles would someday revive, if he held a grudge she would have to be ready for him.

She would have to think of a complex command, and test the limits of her abilities.

She felt as if she was less of a child than she had been. She was simultaniously more sure of herself, and yet pressed with more conerns and responsibility.

"Listen to me, if you ever meet someone who feels the same way I do, it's important that you stay away from them. Stay around other people, brightly lit spaces, and do not speak with them or make eye contact. And call me immediately.".

Basic safety concerns were again starting to occur to Jacqueline. Among those concerns, was protecting humans she had given blood to. There was also something very grounding about Eddie, and she felt it was something she needed. She didn't want to find out what losing him might do. She did however, need to test just how well she could give a complex command. She rises and steps close enough to Eddie that she is sure he can see her eyes in the dim lighting. For a minute she just maintains eye contact, then says Tomorrow, go to 1890 Pagota street. Retreive one small rock and place it in the exact center of the kitchen table.". She had walked by the office address many times, and knew there was a rockbed of small, smooth, grey stones out of view of the windows of the building. This command seemed suitably complex, requiring time to pass, travel and exact measurement.

Jacqueline watches him go, staring after him for awhile. She shook herself; she was getting way too good at the creepy thing. Maybe older kindred weren't even trying, maybe it just came naturally after so much time. Her bedroom had been better equip to house the undead, and she's glad she doesn't have to climb into her closet, but can simply slip into bed.

The nest night she rises, knowing she has a business to check up on. She was very hungry though. Maybe it was time to pay a visit to her "thrall" as she liked to jokingly think. Probably a little too close to the truth. After dressing in a longcut babydoll and spandex leggings, she wanders toward the kitchen texting on her phone. "What you up to?" she sends the inconspicious text to the college guy who had liked being fed on so much. It sounded stupid even to her, but it wouldn't look strange if anyone else read his phone.

She bursts out laughing, which of course she has to take deliberate breath to do. She was dressed in the most average outfit she could possibly have put together, texting the most mundane of things to someone who was actually fairly close to her age compared to her new companions in death.

The idea that she was the one in serious danger was almost laughable though. He might pose some threat because of her youth even in the kindred world, but her intentions were worse than most things he could think up. Thinking about it made her more aware of her hunger. "I'll see you in an hour." she writes.

She walks to the bathroom, checking herself in the mirror. This sort of interaction with humans was perhaps the closest she would ever come to normal sexual interaction, and she knew it. She may as well enjoy it. She walks out to her car, taking her time, and planning on prowling a bit before her target arrives.

She smiles back "did you wear cologne for me?". She means to be somewhat teasing, but although the smell is terrible, she is slightly flattered he would go to any trouble at all.

She draws closer, not bothering to hide she was not human both in her movements and actual physical appearance. He had accepted her and enjoyed being fed from before, so she didn't have to hide her intention.

Jacqueline found herself realizing and understanding more about human beings in general lately, but also men. This man (though boy would be a better word) harbored the same worries, insecurities and desires as she had before she had been turned. She hadn't seen it then though. She, like many others her age thought of men and often other people in general as another species in essence. A predatory mindset had changed that.

She is close enough to just be touching him and says in a reassuring sort of way that carried authority "You did very well.". She grips his arm, pulling his nack closer to her. He had seemed to enjoy being fed from so much, she might at least try to entertain him. She lets him see her fangs fully, playing at thrilling him. She makes a small puncture in her own wrist with her right fang, and puts her wrist to his mouth, allowing only a little blood to flow. Really more smearing than offering much quantity. If she was going to take such risks with her identity, she must create a blood tie of some sort to keep him complacent. She didn't plan on giving him much though, and if anything thought it better he be a little removed from reality whenever he was made privy to the fact she was kindred.

She waits curiously for his reaction, seeing if he's enjoying the workup to being bitten.

The slightly irregular beat of his heart shakes her out of it, and she stops drawing. Any more and he might have trouble walking. She realizes she wouldn't mind killing him in that moment, and knows she should feel some sort of shame, but doesn't. A small part of her wants him to live, aside from wanting a regular willing person to feed from.

"Off you go" she whispers, hoping he won't tempt her to his own demise. She walks away quickly, knowing he will likely soon lose track of her in the dark. It was hard for her to remember the range of her vision before the embrace. What other important things about being human would she forget?

She heads for the main drag of the town. She had nothing pressing at the moment, and wouldn't mind some people watching.
