Re: Change in Posting Frequency

Celene:
That's the blade that was thrown into the ocean right?? I have had a lot to read. I didn't get to download Johannes' memory banks.

The one that got thrown in the ocean was the indomitable Czarina Valora, she had this weird accent where each 's' was changed of a 'z'. But Zan's new sword doesn't look like that, his new sword is shorter and less elegant.

Re: Change in Posting Frequency

Ok.. after reading and re-reading a few times over the text there... you have all the right to call me Dumb but....

... WHAT ?.

More shape changers ? if they are going to turn their bodies to stone in that mud, I'd guess it has to be that and not a possession right ?.

I got lucky with Init with that 18... still I'd have probably ruled a surprise round :-) don't see how they might have been expecting us.

Re: Change in Posting Frequency

In reply to Angati (msg # 686):

Huh, what? :D

Things we know so far:

#1: The Jade Ravens are not the hostages. To be fair, Zan never said they were, he always just said that the Jade Ravens had been captured and that his 'friends' were going to be entombed in stone.
#2: Whoever the hostages were, they have been thrown into one of the mud pits.

I suppose you could use entombment in stone to kill a shape-changer, but why not just stick a sword in their belly if you know who they are? In fact, using this method to kill most things seems over the top. What can you think of that needs to be trapped in stone rather than just simply killed?

Re: Change in Posting Frequency

Ahhh !!! ok, you got me confused. As you mention somewhere that they move in a somewhat erratical way or something.

I had understood that the real jade ravens were going to be entombed, while someone else was taking their identity... that helped also explain all the changes in character and all.

So it might be possessions or something of the sort rather than shape changers.

Re: Change in Posting Frequency

@Celene:

Not sure if its exactly this that DM intends to do, but...

First all roll. Then if any players got better inits, they act before the mob (and only them).

Then all the mob.

Then all the PCs (those that already acted and those that didnt)

And from there its just mob - PCs - mob - PCs

and so on, until Logan dies.

Oh, yeah, sorry. I could see how that could be confusing. I meant that they were acting haltingly because they are being forced to do something they don't want to, rather than that they were shape changers unfamiliar with their new shapes.

It's an interesting pickle, and the only thing we really have to go on for which side to support is how evil the Czarine seems to be.  Logan probably likes the populist sentiment that the other faction (Sabrehawk as the lead?)

Yeah, it seems that Sabrehawk's side at least profess to want to free the people from economic slavery - although with the weapons themselves as the new 'first among equals'. And Sabrehawk does seem to have a very poor ethical code... it is happy to slaughter as many people as required to achieve his goal. Which side would you want in control of the city?

Thanks for acting for me.  The entire family got some kind of food poisoning or intestinal sickness at the same time.  When I haven't been cleaning up vomit from my kids, I've been doing it myself.  Maybe we shouldn't eat at New Jersey rest areas any more?

Re: Change in Posting Frequency

Ha.  I just saw how these two adventurers are going to merge.  Alohan and Kassius are finding a rust monster, and we encounter intelligent weapons.  I wonder how we're going to destroy Czarine once and for all?

*Edit, and of course it's Vorsh who hired them.  Maybe he doesn't know the sword was re-found, or lost it after he went out for the contract.  Very clever, GM!  Tying all these plot threads together.  Does the AP really have groups separating off like this to accomplish multiple parts of a quest at once?  I don't think I've ever heard of that happening in a published adventure.

Ahhhhh! Now, to be totally honest, this is actually a short side quest we are doing here - but I had to run it as it is the only adventure (other than the AP) to ever be set in Sasserine. And the adventure most definitely didn't have the party splitting up, but that is the sort of thing we can pull off when we are playing here on RPOL.

Stlll, kudos on the planning and organization.  You integrated our prequels pretty well into this.  I figured the Czarine would show up again, but it's pretty interesting that Kassius's prelude ties in with Logan and Celene's so well.

In reply to Alohan Nuari (msg # 702):

Normally, we've had pretty good luck at the rest stops.  They're quick, which is nice.  We used to get off the freeway and go to the hot bar at a Whole Foods in...Mount Laurel, maybe?  But that takes a lot longer and it's harder with three kids than it was with one.  Our bigger problem is that we're pescatarian, so there aren't a whole lot of options.  We usually go for veggie or tuna subs at Quizno's, but at the rest area we went to, the only thing we could get was the fried fish platter and fish sandwiches at Roy Roger's.  I'm guessing the fried fish and french fries themselves were okay, but maybe the tartar sauce wasn't?

There was a thread where we first found Czarine correct? I believe I looked through it before but can't find it now.

I would like to reference it during my post.
