Awesome.  I wonder what the most improbable creature to have Alohan grapple would be?  I say at some point he needs to grapple a shark or something, and hold on while it tries to drown him.  That would be epic.  Or what if you did grapple a flying creature?  Would it cause it to fall?

I'd like to see him wrestle an ooze. Alongside a hot babe NPC. Maybe a mud ooze. Ok, I realize that's normally just called mud-wrestling, but you know, we need to come up with some excuse for it!


On a different note, I have a job interview all day Tuesday, and I'm going to spend Monday working and then driving down for it, so I won't be able to post again until late Tuesday evening at the earliest. Feel free to NPC me doing the same thing I did the last two rounds, Kassius is pretty predictable right now.

The other possibility is that a rust monster prefers more powerful weapons/magic items over lesser ones, so it'd want to eat all the intelligent magical items first.  But I don't think that's actually true.  I think they just like metal. I know I've read about adventuring groups distracting a rust monster by throwing bits of scrap metal at it.

Controlling it would be the best way to insure we stay unmolested.

I just feel if the enemy is able to attack us leaving our weapons/armor/gear behind would not be beneficial to us.

Yeah, I agree with your point 100%.  We could leave our *best* gear behind, and just take normal weapons/armor that we don't mind losing.  It would actually be a lot less expensive than the Charm Monster scrolls and only cost us a point to attack/damage/AC.

Yes spares are a good idea; but we are having those scrolls purchased for us.

Pretty sure if this thing isn't charmed that iron portcullis is toast/rust and the weapons all leave.

The iron porticullis(es) are behind the wooden doors, so someone would need to smash the doors first to allow access to the metal.

Oh man. The whole concept of using a rust monster is just flat out bat shit crazy. Vorsh is clearly taken one to many blows to the head. But he is the psychopath with several levels advantage over you guys so he gets to decide on the general plan :D

Are you clear which doors get locked and where the iron portcullises will come down?

Penny made a charisma skill check and Alohan failed his will save so it isn't 'his fault' as such. And anyway, Kassius has had ample opportunity but never showed any interest so Alohan did not break the Bro Code.

Why is this chapter of the module called the 'Quarantine of Steel'? Wouldn't steel be the worst thing to use to quarantine a rust monster? Why not a quarantine of stone? Or is the title suggesting that steel is kept out, i.e. quarantine FROM steel.

Module designers should be more clear about these things.
