Re: Change in Posting Frequency

Was that an option to climb or use acrobatics?

I assumed it was both, maybe erroneously, climb down then the walkway acrobatics.

I had a straight roll for acrobatics only though.

Re: Change in Posting Frequency

Yes, the options are:

a) Climb down
b) Take the walkway down (no climb check needed, but it is a bit slippery)
c) Dive down (?!)

In regards to Alohan's progression, aren't 'Savage Barbarian' and 'Martial Artist' already archetypes?

Re: Change in Posting Frequency

If you would allow me to adjust my action I'd have walked down and still not made that acrobatics checks failing by 1.

In reply to Celene (msg # 836):

Yeah, I assumed you were walking down at rolling against a DC10 - so you still fail. Can you please make a DC20 acrobatics check to dive into the water and avoid damage.

Re: Change in Posting Frequency

Actually, I rolled for how far down the walkway you were when you fell and you'd almost made it halfway. You fall 40' ft, so it's just a DC15 check.

14:32, Today: Celene rolled 18 using 1d20.  Acrobatics DC 15.

That helps.

Cool, you still fall but avoid the damage. I'll give Ron a chance to post and then follow up tomorrow night.

Re: Change in Posting Frequency

alright so Alohan...
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classe...pes/savage-barbarian

my dearest Alohan started as a Savage Barbarian (not unchained) and he remains a Savage Barbarian. Honestly, the unchained barbarian is kind of better (and easier) but since my intention at level 3 was to go naked, I put off making him an unchained barb. This was great for cinematics but I basically lose 3 AC with savage barbarian since I dont expect to use a shield. I dunno, am I missing something?

Next up is the Unchained Monk. I was always an unchained monk BUT I planned to look at the Martial Artist archetype and re-evaluate. First up is Pain Points, which replaces Still Mind (at level 4). I think that can remain. Martial Arts Master replaces slow fall, but with the Unchained Monk, slow fall is Ki Power -long story short, I am going to take Martial Artist Master as my Ki power at level 4 along with Pain Points granted by the archetype and my ki pool abilities come in at 3rd. I think it still works.

Now, I know prestige classes and the power curve yada, yada, yada -but let's be honest.. I am just winging it. I don't particularly care much about the mechanics and more about the thematics. Which is why Kassius's Enlightened Rager is particularly enticing! The Lore is close to what I am trying to achieve (less scholar and more Nuari way stuff)- It is awesome! Thank you!

I have much to think about.

Don't worry, we are just too obsessed with optimising..  we were just giving our opinion as you were asking, not criticising I think :).

Any swimming bonus being aided?

I am now understanding why I have a monkey fish scroll. Should have read it before heading down this way. :(

Only if they give up their swim move to help you.

Yeah, she needs monkey fish. Hard to cast a spell from a scroll while you're swimming though.

Could she drink an elixir? Kassius has an elixir of swimming on him, that he could lend her?

Re: Change in Posting Frequency

But, hang on, she doesn't need a swim check to 'swim'. She can doggie paddle along at quarter speed without a swing check, and only do a swim check if she wants to move at half speed, right?

Re: Change in Posting Frequency

In reply to Celene (msg # 848):

No, as a full round action you can move quarter speed i.e. 5ft (rounding down)

If you pass a DC15 swim check you can move half speed as a full round action i.e. 15ft.

Yes, you are 60' away.

Re: Change in Posting Frequency

Note that the potion I gave you (if drunk as a standard action) will give you +10 on all swim checks. Should make the DC 15 check a lot easier.

Just edited my post above. I agree with Kassius, if you want to get there before the end of the battle you'll need the elixir.

Yep. I just wanted to make sure I was on the same page.

I'll drink as my action and then enjoy my +9 bonus to swim on the next round.

Hopefully Kibeti gets some more damage in. Seems we in the water might as well be in another nation with as much progress as we are making.

Re: Change in Posting Frequency

I just wanted to say, don't blame the module for the crumby structure of this encounter. The module didn't give a specific location where the characters would be dropped in the water, so I did some rough mental calcs so that they would arrive at the combat 2-3 rounds delayed but... got the calcs totally wrong :D

In reply to Angati (msg # 856):

Logan's got a couple of potions.  I was going to pop one, heal up, and then come back into combat while still invisible.  That'll guarantee a sneak attack.  Trouble is, it'll take me at least two rounds to drink the first one, with being staggered and everything.

FYI, I changed all your bios to make them consistent. We haven't been using them to track hit points and the like anyway.
