Re: 2B - TBG - Part Two: Kraken's Cove

Celene winces in pain and retreats closer to Kassius. She manages to bite down a scream and turns the anger into fuel for her magic. She raises the hand not carrying her spear and gestures towards the square in front of her hopding that her magic can lull the pirate to sleep.

Re: 2B - TBG - Part Two: Kraken's Cove

The disfigured, hideous creature before him wailed in an almost unholy manner. It shook him to his core, dislodging any sense of strength and courage he had within him. Even with divine grace easing his nerves, Alohan still felt the need to escape -to run. He panicked, suddenly conscious of how little he wore. Looking about himself, Alohan turned about. He needed to get away from these creatures before they tore him open.
Will Save: 20:02, Today: Alohan Nuari rolled 7 using 1d20 ((7)) to be http://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamema...tions#TOC-Frightened
I think the path of least resistance would be fleeing to the east. I could flee to the south through my allies but I think the 2½ squares works in my favor -a kind of discouragement. Either way, I provoke some AoOs so don't forget my Mobility bonus!

Re: 2B - TBG - Part Two: Kraken's Cove

Kassius cooly watches the pirate advance and try and attack Kibeti. He waits until Kibeti crouches low, getting ready to pounce. The savage pirate braces for the cat's attack, only to receive a pair of magically enchanted arrows in the face.

The following assumes that those arrows dropped the Pirate 2. If it doesn't, Kibeti full attacks 2 instead.
Kibeti looks back at Kassius and grins, the pair's coordination in the attack uncanny. Then, Kassius glances over at Celene, seeing her vulnerable and barks a quick order. Kibeti moves through her spot, risking a glancing blow to get into position to attack and distract the second foe.

Re: 2B - TBG - Part Two: Kraken's Cove

Angati hits with her morning star, but the mundane weapon struggles to penetrate the toughened hide of the cursed krenshar (5hp damage thanks to DR). Her automatous magical weapon misses.

Celene steps back a few feet sheltering around the corner from the savage man trying to kill her. She begins spellcasting.

Kassius sends two magical arrows into the face of the other pirate, shattering its head in a spray of green acid. The creature's death throes are therefore rather muted and it totally fails in trying to bite Kibeti. The cat will have to move quickly to avoid the resulting acid though!

OOC: DC15 reflex save for Kibeti or take 1d6 acid damage

Kibeti darts throw Celene's legs, nearly bowling the petite sorceress over, skilfully dodges the opportunistic attacks from her opponent and then bites the nasty tasting man on the leg (4hp damage thanks to DR)

Urol takes a shot with his crossbow but the bolt clatters uselessly off the rocks.

Alohan screams and runs eastwards as fast as he can to get away from these terrible creatures with the bizarre skull-like faces. He hurtles through the labyrinth, weaving around the stalactites and ignoring the scratches and bumps he gains from his speed. He quickly reaches the end of the maze and enters a small cavern stuffed with fine, abet a little mouldy, furniture. Thick rugs cover the sandy floor and fine silk tapestries and a masterful seascape painting hangs from the wall giving the place an almost regal feel. A four poster bed takes up most of the space along the southern wall, and wedged in next to it is a armoire, and there is a jumble of random chairs and small tables randomly shoved into the room in such a way that it is difficult to cross.

Alas, much of the furniture has recently been ruined, as it is now splattered and stained with gore or smashed and scared by swordplay. The corpse of a man dressed in a very natty fine suit of purple silk lies in a red, chewed heap at the foot of the bed. His chest has been excavated and his entrails scooped out.

Five more bodies lie among the wreckage of the room. Horribly deformed men who are slowly oozing into acidic puddles and seeping into the rug.

Alohan hears the sound of ANOTHER battle taking place to the east, the screams, cries and clashing of steel make it apparent that it is an on going conflict. Keeping that in mind the native decides not to go any further and instead to hide within this room. Two hiding places immediately present themselves: under the bed or in the armoire.

OOC: Oh the indignity of it all!

Special map for Alohan. He is in the cavern to the east of the battle area. The eastern exit of that chamber is the one where the sounds of the second battle are coming from.

Oh, good point.

Celene unleashes her spell and waits for the effect. But the spell just seems to... slide off her opponent. It is not as though he was able to resist it, more like he didn't have a mind the was susceptible to it.

Not so much fun, I know, but it is better to learn this lesson about savage creatures earlier rather than later. Their minds are no longer fully their own, and this means they are also closed to others.

Re: 2B - TBG - Part Two: Kraken's Cove

Kibeti easily avoids the acid, perhaps aided by how little of a threat it poses to his magically thick fur. Now in position, he can concentrate fully on attacking the next foe, striking a few solid hits, although the pirate's own magical defenses make it difficult to bring him down.

Kassius tries to fire arrows at the pirate, but the stagactites block clear lines of fire, and both arrows bounce away harmlessly.

Kibeti lands a bite attack and does a little damage (4 hp).

Angati hits with her morning star but doesn’t do any damage. The magical gauntlet does much better (8 hp damage).

Angati:

Yep, they all have DR5/magic.

Yeah, that is pretty crazy isn’t it? I mean, unless your melee types each have a magical weapon (and as Kassius showed that is by no means guaranteed) then they are screwed.

:D Where did I find the module? :D Well, it is part of a 12 part module series so the assumption is that the players are rather experienced. At least you’ve all learnt your lesson and will turn up with the right tools next time.

Urol stares at the mutated beasts.  "These things were bad enough before this happened to them.  And now we're barely able to hurt them?"  The gnome retrieved another one of his vials, giving it a shake, so it started to bubble.  "This'll still work, though!"

And with that, the gnome flung the vial behind the krenshars, where it exploded and hit both beats with its splash.

As Celene's spell washed over the pirate she was slightly disheartened. Half of her repertoire affected the mind. She boiled over with anger for a moment and wanted to blast the cursed thing with fire but her allies were in the way and would be caught in the blast.

Switching gears she drew her wand saw a tiny fraction of the pirate and launched a bolt of force at him.

Ugh, you guys have to include the spell DC when posting that you cast a spell with a save, otherwise your poor DM needs to hunt it down in the character sheet, or it is even tougher when the DC isn't even ON the character sheet! :D

So the DC is 10 + ½ alchemist level + int modifier = 14? And that is for both the reflex and the fort?

Urol hits the spot he was aiming for and the two krenshars get hit from behind with a freezing blast.

One is able to avoid some of the blast (krenshar 1 = 3hp damage) the other does not (krenshar 2  = 5hp damage). although nether of them seem overly bothered by the blast, krenshar 2 is now almost dead on its feet on only its ferocity stops it from giving up the fight.

Celene zaps the remaining pirate with her wand (3 hp damage).

Re: 2B - TBG - Part Two: Kraken's Cove

Since Urol and Angati are able to co-ordinate stepping back, only one krenshar is able to advance and attack the oracle. This is the more lively krenshar 1 - but it isn't lively enough to hit.

Meanwhile, the second savage pirate continues fighting Kibeti - but then does something unexpected. He reaches around the corner and tries to stab Celene with his shortsword! She has had to expose herself in order to fire her wand, and the pirate is able to reach her despite the cover offered by the rocky wall. He slides his sword right into her stomach! (confirmed critical hit despite the partial concealment and Angati can't use MF since she doesn't have LOS, so that is 14hp damage!). The air just seems to go out of the sorceress and she drops to the ground, bleeding profusely.

"Heh, heh, heh!" growls the pirate. "I be eating you soon my darling! <HOOOWWWWLLLL!>"
