Re: 2B - TBG - Part Two: Kraken's Cove

Kassius and Celene reach the shore, just in time to see Kibeti score a hit (5hp) on savage pirate 1. The final blow sends it into a spasm of hissing and biting, but the big cat it too while to be caught up in that. Then the creature explodes into a spray of stinky green acid - both Kibeti and Angati are caught up in this. Then the remains of the beast collapse into a simmering puddle of acid that looks like it would be dangerous to step into.

Kibeti & Angati, DC15 reflex save to avoid the acid or take 1d6 damage. Angati, you get effected by this before you move.

The oracle launches a half-hearted attack against the remaining infected pirate and then skips out to the right flank. Unfortunately this opens her up to an attack and the creature exploits it cunningly scoring a large bite on her side with its oversized jaws (10hp damage, rolled for blur but no luck).

[Secret to Angati: Hi again, I need ANOTHER DC14 fort save in secret thanks.]

Meanwhile, Logan heals himself.

Alohan pulled himself out of the ocean, his barely clothed body glistening in the inferno. As his feet found purchase on the hard sand, he picked up his pace and soon he was next to Kibeti ready to pummel whatever... IT, was. He waited for proper positioning, delaying long enough to allow Kibeti to move out of the way. Soon enough, an opening.

He clung to his pele, remembering his training enough to slow his breathing and steady his mind. He sprung forward with his heel, bringing it down on the deformed monstrosity. He followed it up with a second kick, confident he did enough damage to draw the creature off of his companions.

Re: 2B - TBG - Part Two: Kraken's Cove

The party, now together again, finds itself alone on the beach as the puddles of acid from the savage pirates fizzle, spit, and then slowly drain away into the sand until they are nothing more than harmless patches of green powder. With the distraction of the battle gone, they become all to aware again of the roar of the inferno behind them, where the splitting and burning of the timbers of the ships merges with the hiss of the oil sheen being consumed by flame, mixed with the occasional exploding barrel of some exotic cargo. Who knows what treasures are being destroyed?

As they tend to their wounds they survey the beach. Just in front of them a ten-foot-wide cave opens at the base of the cliff while to the east several planks provide a crude bridge across a tide pool to a second, smaller cave entrance. The beach is covered in swaths of blood and ragged body parts strewn across the sand, testifying to a terrible and recent battle here. Broken crates and bamboo cages litter the area, with blood and bits of bone sprayed across bolts of colourful silks and cracked barrels of ambergris slowly allowing their precious contents to sink into the coarse, rocky sand. A number of mangled naked corpses, each stripped nearly clean of flesh, and with bones cracked open, lie strewn about the beach. The casualties are staggering, with a quick count putting the dead at nearly twenty.

You are not permitted to proceed until all damage has been healed!

Logan -> 14 hp damage
Celene -> 2 hp damage
Angati -> 20 hp damage
Kibeti -> 12 hp damage

Kibeti easily avoids both bursts of acid, and Kassius unslings his bow, only to find no remaining foes. Instead, he carefully dries string and bow, making sure the quick dip didn't damage the weapon.

I believe Kibeti has 12 damage, not 22, unless I missed something? Also, with the damage evenly distributed, might be a good time a for channel?

Re: 2B - TBG - Part Two: Kraken's Cove

Upon the deformed pirate disengaging, Alohan began suspect something nefarious. He took a step back, foot finding little stability in the sand, only to witness his target blow themselves up in a burst of acid. Thankfully, his reaction was better timed and with a duck and a roll, Alohan was free of it's pain. Sandy, wet, and a bit tired, but otherwise unscathed.

Alohan took a dip in the lagoon once more to wash the grime off his body. He chanced only as much as he dared, keeping a wary eye on the crimson fleet's burning vessels. When he resurfaced, the Nuari went about looking for something in the sand, anything that might be useful to them.

After his search was finished, Alohan rejoined the others. "Which way we be going?"

OOC: Yes, sorry, should be 12 hp. Edited the post to the correct number.

Alohan Nuari:
When he resurfaced, the Nuari went about looking for something in the sand, anything that might be useful to them.

Although the beach has many objects that might have been worth something once, most of them have been trashed in the combat or the following fire. The native quickly sifts through the refuse and does find a few things that might be worthwhile:

- a small charred leather sack containing a couple of handfuls of fine quality orange saffron from The Sind (600 gp)
- a crate of fine dishware miraculously unsmashed (200 gp)
- a whole case of potions of cure moderate wounds with the Thyatian imperial seal on it -> unfortunately when he opens it he finds that only three remain intact

The saffron and dishware have been added to your party treasure list. Logan takes on of the cure moderate wounds potions (write it on your character sheet john!), who wants the others? First come first served!

Angati took the time to done her armour before doing anything else. She half waited for some channels from Celene, considering that three of them were hurt, but she would use her cure spells as needed.

"Mind if I take one?... I am bound to be in the front line most of the time I think", she said as she watched the face of horror that Anansi put at that, a puff of sand could almost be seen by the rest, as the ghost girl stomped her feet... "I'll be careful, I promise" she said to her as she waited for Celene to decide what was best done with regards to the healing.

Alohan holds up the remaining potion after handing one to Logan and Angati. "I be takin one if ya not be mindin.'" He attached it to his loin cloth and was now boasting a sizable amount of potion bottles. Most were contained within small gourds and stopped with a piece of rubber -customary by the Nuari- but two were still contained by bottled glass. They dangled at his side, often clattering into each other when he moved quickly.

To answer his own question, Alohan pointed to the bridge. "I kinda want ta be takin dat route," he said, keeping an eye on the tunnels.

Angati, Alohan and Logan each take a potion.

Do I sense a bit of hesitation in going into the cavern? Probably since you realise that once you enter you'll be locked into six months of dungeoneering! Also, if you want to have any chance of capturing Vanthus you need to complete the whole dungeon in one session i.e. no resting. You may want to shepherd resources accordingly.

Waiting for healing before proceeding - we will then head over the little bridge to the eastern entrance.

Re: 2B - TBG - Part Two: Kraken's Cove

Celene dragged herself out of the water and tossed her pack into the sand, away from the puddles of green liquid, she then dropped to her knees and began sucking in air. The others talked about directions and searched the immediate area but Celene was preoccupied. She had been so confident upon seeing the conflagration and then couldn't even reach the beach without falling in the water. She was worse than useless in the lagoon she'd almost died twice and had to be saved by her comrades. She had almost caused her allies to perish fighting long odds against those creatures; she shuddered.

Angati's voice dragged her out of her thoughts and she looked towards the others. "I... I can try..." she fished her holy symbol from around her neck and held it close to her lips and whispered a prayer softly to herself hoping Wee Jas would hear her.

This leaves Angati down only 5. Four Channels used.

Angati looked at Celene concerned... she approached the other woman sitting next to her, and making a strange noise as the mail grated when she sat down next to her "Don't you worry... we are all alive, and that's what counts... if we had all jumped together, we would have faced these together, and it wouldn't have been so dangerous. But I was afraid to jump, I am an awful swimmer, and I also had the mail amor that would have brought me down... so you see, it's not your fault".

She stood up clapping the other woman on the knee as she did so "Anyway, bridge it is then... I think I am good to go... a long day awaits us and it makes no sense to use up a heal for this scratch".

Indeed, Kassius has never seen nor heard of any such creatures like this this in nature, or rather, he has never heard of anything in nature with the ability to change men into beasts like this, as this is presumably what has happened.

Angati is likewise stumped. Despite having read the entire theology section in the Shrine of Art and Beauty (she got bored in there!), she has never heard of an deity able to convert men into creatures of acid and rage.

Celene:
Celene stood up after Angati's encouraging words and ran her hand through her soaked hair before straightening out her dress the best she could. She pondered Kassius' question wondering if she had read anything similar during her studies.

Celene can't remember being taught about anything like this in her admittedly limited studies in the temple, but she wonders if she might have caught a relevant rumour at the party's awards ceremony? There was that small, wrinkly man with sparse black hair who had told Karthach about how the Milenian Empire had been shattered by some sort of savage curse. Something where most of the population had been converted to terrible beasts with 'the blood of acid'. Who had it been again? She has it! Ambassidor Alresian, from the so called 'Scarlet Brotherhood'. Maybe something to follow up on if she can be bothered.

Celene:
