Re: 2B - TBG - Part Two: Kraken's Cove

Alohan had been overly suspicious of Brissa. He hadn't ever met the woman but Angati' had filled him in on specifics back in Sasserine. He remembered thinking of how she might appear, curious to her beauty. She had not been exactly as Alohan pictured her -and in an odd sense of things- Alohan had been wary of her tricks. This backwards logic had steeled him to what was to come.

As Barissa (or fake Barissa) charged, Alohan turned inwardly. He slowed his breathing, drawing his pele into himself. He turned, planted his feet, then readied as she charged. When she was within arms reach, Alohan kicked, aiming for the creature's sternum. Alas, Barissa was quicker, adjusting her angle causing Alohan to land a glancing blow.

He gritted his teeth, knowing he needed to be better and dwelling how he wasn't.

Re: 2B - TBG - Part Two: Kraken's Cove

The monstrously deformed Brissa charges Angati, brushing aside Alohan's clumsy attempt to stun her. The girl attacks with the long jagged talons that now poke from her hands, and desperately tries to claw at the oracle face and shoulders. Angati Lidu holds her ground and with a grim face blocks the girl with her shield, suffering only a few superficial scratches (2 hp damage).

Brissa has charged into D4. Her AC until her next turn is 19/10/14.

Kassius:
Also, has it been more than three minutes since the last combat? Hoping Gravity Bow might still be in effect.

Since the end of the last combat you have:

- bagged Logan up into a piece of silk
- searched the drying room and found some treasure
- explored a corridor and tried to force a door open
- negotiated with smelly gnome and allowed him to join the party
- waited for him to draw a map of the complex and have him explain it to you
- navigated through a room filled with savage prisoners
- searched the trophy room and waited while the gnome tried to open three chests
- searched the supply room (Celene took a spear)
- explored another small corridor and entered this bathroom
- briefly spoken with Brissa

So, it is more than 3 minutes! I would say more like 45 minutes

Re: 2B - TBG - Part Two: Kraken's Cove

Judging by how fast the thing moved, Angati judged that it would be terribly difficult for her to land a hit on the monstrosity that Brissa had turned into, so taking a step back to avoid being hit by the thing while she casted she said "For a while dear... I am gonna let you be me... see how that feels", and as she concentrated, a bluish wave of light parted from her plexus straight to Brissa making her age, wrinkling and loosing muscle at an alarming rate.

The gnome tosses a bubbling vile at the screaming creature, then flinches as the ice-tinged explosion touches his new ally.  "Sorry 'bout that!  Not used to fighting with others!"

Re: 2B - TBG - Part Two: Kraken's Cove

During the 'heat' of battle, Alohan felt a burning freeze on his backside. Barissa had just stumbled to the sand and Alohan was adjusting his stance only to witness a vial of alchemical wizardry smash into the turf besides him. Of course Barissa was too busy attempting to get her footing -only Alohan was caught unawares. The recklessness of the attack momentarily wavered his control. He felt his anger swell, ready to burst forth. "This damn gnome' he thought to himself, as his skin burned with an intense freeze.

He steadied his breathing, focusing his mind. His level head told him to use Barissa's moment of incapacitation for positioning. He did so, giving the creature a wide enough birth but still coming up behind her. If Angati would close in with him, they could potentially surround the creature -much to their endangerment.

Worrying less about what was to come, Alohan stomped down upon Barissa's shoulder. He felt it connect solidly and heard the creature answer in kind. Stepping back, Alohan found his footing and prepared himself.

Alohan is successful in striking the monster (despite him not actually having flanking), but the beast seems to have the same resistance to non-magical damage as all the others - the blow has little effect on her (1 hp damage).

Just Kassius and Kibeti left in this round.

Kassius circles around the foe, drawing his bow and looking for the ideal launch angle. Finding it, he calmly fires an arrow into Brissa's side, despite the difficulty of hitting a prone target.

Kibeti, in contrast to Kassius' calm, collected style of combat, attacks with animalistic hunger, advancing and biting. The fury of the attack made hitting easily, and greatly increased the power behind the blow.

She throws herself at Alohan, and the big native struggles to keep her snapping shark-toothed jaw away from his unarmoured body. He manages to do it - but at the expense of allowing her to rake her claws up and down his body. (Confirmed crit on the claws, 13 hp damage).

Celene seeks the divine intervention of her goddess - although admittedly in a minor way - and a mauve haze descends on the party members, giving them a feeling of how to make their next actions have the maximum effect.

Kassius notices that it feels very different from when he draws on the the power of Kibeti to achieve the same result - Celene's version... tickles more and does NOT feel very comfortable at all.

Re: 2B - TBG - Part Two: Kraken's Cove

Barissa rose to her feet while Alohan was returning to his. She was up in a flash, and Alohan lashed out ineffectually, kicking widely in her general direction. He was aiming for what he would assume to be the kneecap but she was too fast. And for his efforts, Barissa grabbed ahold- not in the sense to where she attempted to control Alohan but more in the sense she was trying to line up something fantastic for her jagged teeth.

"Agrhhhhh!" he managed to scream, pulling against her clutches. He sent out a flurry of kicks, hopping for a reprieve. One solid connection to her torso and he felt something give way. She was in pain from the blow for she pushed him away -held him at length. He finally laid a boot to her chest and kicked off, sailing back a few feet. There was a cost as she had rended his flesh, tearing away his back.

The pain was immense and he felt himself losing his pele. "Focus!" he told himself, 'Remain calm'. A few calculated breaths and he backpedaled in the sand, his hand going to one of the many small coconuts tied on his side. He sorted them by touch, feeling for the one that would enhance his person. If she followed -so be it- but all Alohan needed was a moment.

Kibeti bites at Brissa as she stands, scoring a hit but doing little against her magical protection.

Kassius pauses as the odd magic rolls over him. He's felt Celene's magic before, but this was the first time he had noticed it felt so... odd. Huh. The thought distracted him, causing his first arrow to go askew, but then he put the thought away for further consideration when he and his friend's lives weren't in danger. His second arrow flew true, the magic of the bow piercing Brissa's magical defenses.

Kibeti continued his own attacks, scoring two claw hits, one of which had enough power to actually do some damage.

Playing Urol in NPC mode.

After the commotion that Alohan made after getting his bottom a little cold, Urol decides against throwing a bomb that would affect half the party.
