Re: OOC3

Guys, I have a small surprise. I invited one of the players on my waiting list to join the game to replace Alohan, but he was away at the time when I mailed him. Actually, he applied for one of the original player slots way back in November 2015, but was a little too late. Then he applied to be the replacement player for Celene about a year ago, but was too late. So when he missed out on Alohan, that was the third time that he had tried!

I talked to him about it and he is super keen to play. Keen enough to read through a ridiculous amount of background story... he has caught up on all the Alohan-centric threads. So we now have six players in the game... please welcome the new player for our barbarian/pacific island monk!

In other news... I will bring you all down to the combat in the next round since I have no way of keeping you entertained up on deck at the moment.

A Ridley Scott and Stephen King reference in the same post?  I sense an immediate friendship possibility. :-)

My pardons for asking a (probably obvious) Mechanics question, but it looks like we post our combat actions in any order and then the DM cleans it all up in the narrative, yes?

In reply to Alohan Nuari (msg # 741):

Hey !!! Welcome... we also like quotes from Monty Python... well, I do, so Welcome to the ministry of silly walks, we are all eager to see yours in action. Give Logan a sec and he will show you his. Talking of which, sex jokes are also ok, only limit is.... fuck what was the limit again ?.

Which reminds me of the white doctor that is working in an african tribe, at some point the tribes chief comes to talk to him and says...
- Doctor... you need to explain to me... I am black, my wife is black... but my baby is white and you are only white here.
The doctor says:
- Ehh well, there is a logical explanation, for example, you have sheep... and all of them are white, but one has just been born black... Do you understand ?

The black chief thinks for a moment and replies:
- Chief understands... I say nothing of baby, you say nothing of sheep.

I don't think Aliens or Shit Weasels came in groups of four.

Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly the Shit weasels wanted in not out right?

No, the shit weasels wanted out.  They gestated in the stomach, and then ate their way out through the anus.  Hence the name.

In reply to Celene (msg # 745):

Well, that was the Byrus infestation in general, I think.  That's what took over Jones's character.  He was able to fight it because of his special powers.  I think there were two forms of infection: ingesting the mold gave rise to the shit weasels, but contact or something else made the psychic assault.

I just recently finished 11-22-63.

I thought it was a good read.

I was disappointed in the TV show though.

I didn't watch the show, but liked the book, especially for the small Easter Eggs to other works.  For my wife, it was her first King novel but she really liked it.  She is tentatively peeking into his short stories. (Obviously, horror is not her genre.)

Yes, exactly. We'd love to run strict by-initiative combats but with us all in different time zones it would take forever.

I tend to write a short sentence in response to each player's post stating the effects of their actions.

Angati:
Hey !!! Welcome... we also like quotes from Monty Python... well, I do, so Welcome to the ministry of silly walks, we are all eager to see yours in action. Give Logan a sec and he will show you his. Talking of which, sex jokes are also ok, only limit is.... fuck what was the limit again ?.

Sigh... well, whatever that limit originally was I think we have long since gone past it

I appreciate the sheep joke extra much since I am a New Zealander and we collect sheep jokes...

:D

But anyway, this game is not marked as 'mature' let alone 'adult' so we just 'fade to black' before anything of a sexual nature gets to graphic. Blood and gore is apparently fine though. And we substitute 'frac' for 'fuck' when speaking in character because the DM likes it that way.

<SNIP> disguising conversation about 'shit weasels', whatever they are...

Alohan Nuari:
Hmmm, it wasn't the prunes... The larvae is in the ship's drinking water. Mwah-ha-ha-ha!

Ohh, that is good! But possibly too evil even for me!

And anyway, potentially having the food supplies contaminated with a something that causes shit demons to gestate in your stomach is probably bad enough to get the characters' attention.

Re: OOC3

He comes from the Pearl Islands which aren't that far north from your current position. Alohan's homeland is a pastiche of every pacific island and Jamaican cliche that you can think of, and he is the Crown Prince of the islands although he has run away to seek sex true love.

That is about as far as we got in terms of character background :D

Re: OOC3

Well the sex part got developed quite a bit... I think he got in bed with every single evil doer out there... even with a doppelgänger if I am not mistaken...  he never knew so I guess he missed a bit on the possibilities... Also, there was a servant of his, who used to hold his cloth for him while we went to the toilet or something weird.. .he sent the servant back, but it was a fun npc
