Re: 2.7 - Celene and the House of Porphyry

They all gathered in their dungeon fortress, Alohan now glad his life wasn't in jeopardy. He listen attentively while Celene had relayed to the rest of them what had happened underneath the opera house adding small details here and there (like how he critted the guy on the elevator but no one was there to see it). He was at an agreement -Nylaria needed to be dealt with but her powers were a bit, beyond their capabilities. Small time thugs and rogue guilds were different than sexed up demon worshippers.

At the topic of finding allies, Alohan looked to Logan. "Dat church ya be findin' with de help from ya mum- Whirlin' Swords or someding. You be dinkin' dey can help us?" Just the other day Logan was finding Vorsh empowered by some sort of warrior clergy hell bent on extinguishing demon cults. He didn't think much of it at the time, still attempting to puzzle how that factored into the Black Pearl but this new lead could be exactly what they were looking for.

OOC: Ok, finally went through all of it... very nice story line.... how is that, that you are going to be putting the other thread on hold ??
Anyway, I suppose Celene brings us up to date or not ? cuz depending on that, actions and speech will change :)

Indeed, very interesting.

Kassius blinks in surprise at Celene's sudden outburst. "Uh... what?" He asks unintelligently.

OOC: Hey, thanks guys! It's been nice to break free from the dungeoneering a little just go crazy with freeform. It's let us be more cinematic, I think.

Yes, let's assume that Celene brings everyone up to date on what happening underneath the opera house, the giant porphyry guardian golem, and the fate of her mentor.

As for putting the other thread on hold, well, that depends on you guys. I want to get a post in each thread from each character at least every second day - are you guys up to doing that in TWO threads? We'll see how we go, but I always imagined putting one of the threads on hold at this point.

OOC: Logan, you're the crucial link in all this. Is Logan willing to make the introductions? He met the Whirling Furies about three weeks ago and has been training with Vorsh since then. He has also been on the lookout for someway to prove himself to the group in order to convince Lady Silvermane to cast that commune spell and figure out what is going on with his Mom. Maybe this is that opportunity. After all, this is a cult with demonic influence, it should be something that the Church of the Whirling Fury is interested in.

Re: 2.7 - Celene and the House of Porphyry

Angati paced the floor furiously, ever since the incident with her sister she hadnt really become herself again, and her sister Anansi kept on pestering her, even more nervous than she usually was. Now she was pulling at the hem of her long shirt, probably hardly noticeable by the rest but really annoying to Angati, who kept sweeping it with her left hand, but of course touched nothing but a faint breeze of cool air.

"I don't know... what do you do... do you think the temple will be in danger with those 3 assassins there ?... maybe it should be the first thing to tackle... also clear your name while we get support to deal with that huge monstrosity... you say he tried to hit you with his ding-a-ling ?... taking this kind of info in is quite a stretch" she said winking, "A hell of a playful kid"

"I know it sounds like a cock and bull story but it isn't. We need to get rid of the cult and the sooner the better. Nylaria was getting ready for some kind of ascension turning her into a succubus or worse. As for the women at the temple I can't imagine they would continue to stay after Eseriel's death. They attended to her and took care of... um... problems. Now they have no reason not to go back to Nylaria." Celene said.

Logan cleared his throat.  "Actually, yes, I might be able to help with that.  I should have brought it up earlier, but I actually found Vorsh a few weeks ago, and he's been...um, training me.  It's a long story, but I think he might be interested in helping to take out a demonic cult.  Though they seem to pride themselves somewhat on secrecy, and I only tumbled onto to them thanks to some help from my mother, which I still don't entirely understand."

Celene looked at Logan "It isn't just a demonic cult. It is one that he attempted to destroy back when he was still called Larcos Degrin. He slaughtered everyone involved except for to children. Those children grew up to be Magnus Eseriel, my mentor, and Nylaria Absalee the opera singer. Eseriel is dead and now Nylaria is attempting to grab as much power as she can. We need to stop her."

Logan nods.  "I can see how Larcos, Vorsh, whatever we want to call him would be interested in that.  How...how urgent is this?  I mean, you've uncovered their temple.  Do they know where we are?  Do we have time to plan, to make preparations before we take them on?  Or do we need to get Vorsh as quickly as possibly and storm that opera house?"

"Then we should go to Vorsh at once. The city council will never do anything quickly enough to help. Between that golem and her cult, Nylaria is a powerful foe. We can hope she'll get cocky, and we can use her arrogance against her."
Kassius says, his face deadly serious. At least until the last line when he snickers, just a bit.

Angati nodded, she detested politics, and all that could go by without needing to go through formal, bureaucratical procedures was quite fine with her. She moved towards the corner where she kept her armor and weapons and started putting them on without a word. She hoped she had not misunderstood and they meant not now as in immediately but rather in the following days... still, she could not stop putting her armor on without looking too stupid again..

With Angati putting her armour on, it seems that the decision is made. The group head over to the windowless building in the Cudgel district which serves as a church for a group of barbarian demon hunters who style themselves the 'whirling furies'...

As a probationary member, Logan now has a key and is able to open the padlocked front door. Still, he receives a frosty welcome when the two men sitting on guard in the first room see that he has brought his entourage with him. They are told to stay put while Lady Silvermoon and Larcos Dengrin are summoned.

"Damn it lad! What part of 'top secret base' do you not understand?" exclaims Vorsh as he enters the room.

"Indeed!" growls Lady Silvermane, her inhuman green eyes glowing slightly as she also joins them. "What is the meaning of this Logan Merrion? I would have thought that a son of Theodric would've had more sense."

Alohan smirks at their distress, finding it ironic their top secret base was spoiled by Logan almost immediately. Of course secrets told between friends remained secrets and Alohan hadn't mentioned it until they debated where to go from here.

"Vorsh," Alohan cut in, "It be good ta see ya in good health. We have need of ya." He motioned to his friend to explain.

Celene stepped forward ”There is no other time Vorsh; we’ve come to learn that the House of Porphyry secretly worships the goddess Malcanthet here in Sasserine.” Celene stopped to let her words sink in for only a moment ”Years ago you managed to destroy a cult devoted to Shami-Amourae. Except two young girls. Those two girls, Magnus Eseriel and Nylaria Albasee, grew up and began to worship a new succubi goddess. Alohan and I stumbled upon their lair beneath the opera house and confronted them. Eseriel took her own life but Nylaria still lives and intends to turn herself into a powerful succubus after sacrificing virgins this very night. I beg you to finish what you started and help us destroy the cult before they cause any more harm” she pleaded.

Vorsh's face colours as Celene tells the story of the hidden succubus cult under the opera house that calls itself the House of Porphyry.

"I should have never let those two girls go," he growls. "I allowed guilt and sentimentality to cloud my judgement..."

He turns to the cleric of the Whirling Furies. "Lady Silvermane. You know my story. You know of those accursed blades and what they made me do with the original House of Porphyry in the Telvanta Academy of Dance. You know how I destroyed that sect - but it seems that it has reformed itself from its own ashes. Will you and your church aid me now in finishing this once and for all?"

The eldarin stares at Vorsh calmly while weighing up his request. "Yes, Larcos Dengrin, this action will resist a demonic influence. The goddess Gwynharwyf would approve. Summon the men and we will set upon this task immediately."

The two Whirling Furies who'd been guarding the front door whooped. "Time to open up a flask of whipped ass!" screamed one - Logan recognised him as Torin Freddricksdatter, the barbarian from the northern reaches. The man ran out to assemble the troops.

Less than one hour later saw the party assembled outside the back door of the opera house with ten boisterous Whirling Furies joking and jostling by their side. Vorsh and Lady Silvermane were also with them, the lady eldarin dressed in a highly ornate set of mithral armour that gleamed in the setting sun. As they discussed final plans, a figure joined them from a side street.

Okay, you guys still reading? Sorry that was so long but I needed to transition into the next section with at least some form of explanation.

Any questions for Karthack Feldspar-Ash? You know there is trouble coming up so are there any preparations you want to take?

Logan had been stunned into silence by the rebuke of Vorsh and Lady Silvermane, desperate as he was for their assistance.  He lets our a sigh of relief as the Whirling Furies agree to help.  On the way over to the opera house, Logan makes a point to accompany Vorsh part way.

"Sorry about betraying the secret, Vorsh.  There wasn't time to separately coordinate all of this.  I thought it was more important to catch this sect 'in the act', as it were, and wipe them out than to waste time trying to preserve the secret of the Church.  Besides, these are all people we can trust - you've worked with them, and you've seen how much they care about the well-being of Sasserine."

Logan's ready.  Not much in the way of preparations here, though he'd happily take any long-term buffs!

We managed to procure a wand of Shield of Faith +2 (50 charges) and 5 cure light wounds potions. Angati can carry the wand I believe. Currently Celene can use it but that might change during this adventure. Celene also has a wand of Mage Armor that Alohan bought that lasts for 3 hours.
