The danger to ship and crew and companions seems to finally loosen something within the silent and withdrawn Captain of the Sea Wyvern.  The booming voice of Alohan shouts out orders, "Firs' Ma-e! Be Drifting her Broadsides! Bowmen be finding a perch!"

He pulls out silver flecked wand and touches his chest; a nearly instantaneous shimmer winks once across his body. "Who else be needing a touch?" He looks quickly about at his compatriots...

OOC: Alohan will rush to anyone who takes up the offer for Mage Armor.  If no one responds he will turn and run toward M-18

Yes Prot from Evil on everyone and their mother's. And there go my 7 lvl 1 spell slots... but I can hardly think of a better way to let them go...
I'd also cast Divine favour extended on myself then... just in case, at the end of all that.

Kibeti shakes his head, then bounds off after the others onto the Blue Nixie. Kassius meanwhile draws his bow, thankful Alohan's last order. He should have a much clearer shot from the boat if it moves just a bit forward.


I don't think the summoned octopus is going to be able to reach the foes (I summoned it in case of another underwater foe), so feel free to ignore it.

Kinstal pulls his sword and runs across the prow of the ship, leaping to the Nixie and continuing  to run towards combat.


OOC:  Kinstal will run to within 20' of combat if he can and prepare to do an Overrun next round if he can.

The front line fighters (Alohan, Kinstal, Logan & Kibeti) head onto the back of the Blue Nixie, struggling to stay on their feet while the deck pitches up and down in the huge swell. About half of the crew of the Sea Wyvern follows. The other half of the crew, i.e. the ones requited from the crew to replace the casualties from the hydra attack, are VERY hesitant to join the combat and stay onboard.

Kassius yells out to Amella to bring the Sea Wyvern closer into the fray. Up at the helm she struggles to hear him over the raging storm, but then wipes the rain and sea spray from her face and nods. "What have you gotten yourself into this time Amella?" she mutters as she looks back at the anchor chain winch. "What the hell, it has been a nice enough life anyway." She kicks the winch free with one booted foot.

19:54, Today: Dungeon Master rolled 31 using 1d20+11.  Amalle sailing check.
OOC: Whoa.

The first mate times it perfectly, letting just enough chain out to bring the Sea Wyvern into the perfect firing position for the missile attackers still on board. Urol, Skald, Angai, Celene, Shefton and the four remaining members of the crew line the starboard railing, readying their bows, crossbows or spells. The savage pirates on the prow of the pirate ship scream and roar out blood curdling threats at them.

OOC: Kassius and Angati, where do you want the Archon and octopus? Just feel free to move them into combat from any position you want to.

The savage pirates don't seem very concerned about the risk of falling into Celene's pit, and continue attacking the Blue Nixie crew. One of the crew members (#3) disappears beneath the rapier and bites of the crazed pirates. Savage pirates 1 (14 hp) & 4 (9 hp) fall into the pit (SP1 actually dies from the fall!), SP5 manages to climb out.

A nasty shock awaits Urol as he heads to the prow of the Sea Wyvern and props his heavy repeating crossbow on the gunnel - two savage pirates are manning the ballista on the front of the enemy ship and both fire at him. One misses completely and the bolt heads into the stormy sky, the other rams into the bowspirit a foot from his head.

The battle rages, with the Blue Nixie crew at least holding a solid line. Sailor#2 hit SP2 (3 hp). Zan hits SP8 (7 hp). Tolin hits SP6 (8 hp).

"Make some space!" yells Zan. "I need to flank them!"

Kaskus looks up at the sky, and an evil grin forms on the bearded lips of the drwaven druid. He chants a few words and then gestures up at the sky, and a jagged lightning bolt streaks down and slams into SP8, blowing it apart (fried even if makes save).

"Much obliged!" quips Zan as he starts to push into the open space. He avoids most of the acid damage from the exploding savage pirate (remember that charming trait? 1 hp)

Liamae chcukles and begins her own spell. A magically bolt of lightning shoots out of her hands and blasts through SP4, 10 & 11. All three of the creatures disintegrate.

The pirate is lanced with a fist sized column of fire. The fire burns a hole through its torso and it drops to the ground purple smoke rising from their wounds.

Mistakenly thought I had two rays for some reason. Ignore the extra rolls in the die roller.

Kibeti advances to the rear of the battle line, but is unable to get within reach of a foe. Kassius however is in perfect position, and fires into the melee, the enhanced arrows slamming into the savage pirates.

The octopus moves below the ships, ready to attack any hapless pirate that gets into range.

Celene fries a hole through one of the savage pirates, turning it into a spray of green acid.

Kassius pauses, holding his breath until the alternating heavy of the two decks align and the time is right. The first arrow pops one of the foul creatures, the second just misses.

@Kassius, yeah, realistically I don't see how the octopus can help right now.

Kinstal moves up towards the front of the ship, searching for an opening in the scrum - he doesn't find one so hangs back a bit, looking for a spot to rush through with an overrun attack.

The swarthy gnome leans up against the gunnel and fires a shot from his magic heavy crossbow a the other savage pirate on a ballista - he mistimes the heave of the deck and it flies miles to the side of the target. The old alchemist grunts and makes a small adjustment in the sights then pulls back on the reload lever. The next shot hits the pirate squarely in the chest (confirmed crit hit, 9 hp, not quite dead).

Skald sends two arrows against the same target and finishes it off.

SP6 attacks sailor #6 and nicks it with its rapier (1 hp).

SP7 manages to claw its way out of the magic pit and attacks Tolin, hitting with its rapier (6 hp). Tolin curses and tries to kick the pirate back into the magical trap but it dodges. It also avoids falling back into the pit this round.

SP4 tries to climb out of the pit and fails.

SP9 claws at Zan, but the Jade Raven rogue keeps it at bay.

SP12 moves onto one of the ballista, slowly beginning to reload it. Because of its mutated hands it is struggling.

The last of them is a hooded figure who through back her head covering to reveal a wild mane of red hair. She laughs mockingly and lightning cracks across the sky and the storm intensifies.

"Alohan, my darling! So we meet again! You really should have just agreed to 'break a few skulls' for me down on the docks and then all of this could have been avoided." She shrugs and hold up a blue crystalline gemstone. "Never mind. Perhaps it is more fun this way anyway, and as you will see I have also learnt from our last encounter."

The dark cleric throws down the crystal stone and it shatters on the deck. A boiling storm of water sprays out, joining the wash of seawater constantly sweeping over the deck. It coalesces into swirling vortex of blue water - a large water elemental.

"Right! That's it boys, 'ave at 'em!"
she yells, and a cry goes up from about half the crew on the Blue Nixie and all of the remaining crew on the Sea Wyvern. They turn and attack their former allies!

Urol (6 hp) and Skald (2 hp) also feel the stinging blades of the traitors. Kassius is able to turn in time and protect his back.

OOC: Urol, please make a DC16 fort save vs the dread sea urchin venom or be <NAUSEATED> for 1 minute. Skald seems to be immune to the effects.

Back on the Blue Nixie the water elemental begins battering Kinstal from side to side (12 hp damage, NB: forgot bonus for being in contact with water in dice roller).

Kibeti is attacked and missed. Sea Wyvern sailor #1 is hit (5 hp) as is sailor 4 (4 hp).

Lavinia is hit (5 hp), "Traitors," she screams. She parries a blow from a second thief. "Ugh! Poison," she cries out, nauseated.

Liamae is hit twice (6 hp), and Tolin is hit once (6 hp). Both of them are likewise nauseated.

Rowyn laughes again, and points a finger into the melee. A multicolored explosion of leaping, ricocheting energy appears, dancing between the combatants... cutting, slicing and killing. Almost everyone on deck is effected by it - except the savage pirates and dragon lotus thieves who seem immune.

Of the eight normal sailors on deck (4 from the SW and 4 from the BN), only one (SW sailor #3) survives. The rest are cut to ribbons with agonising screams. Captain Rodrigo drops to his knees next to them, alive but heavily damaged (and slowed).

Lavinia fails to avoid the magical energy, and is batted to the ground screaming (18 hp + slowed). Remarkably, all of the Jade Ravens avoid the worse effects. Zan, Tolin and Kaskus resist the spell (9 hp) and Liamae just watches as the magical energy flows harmlessly around her.

The Archon positions itself where it can affect the most people with it's aura, just on top of one of the crew (crew 3) floating just out of reach. Two rays of light shot out of its center, towards the water elemental.

Meanwhile Angati, surrounded as she was by the two turned crewmen, thought for a minute about getting rid of them... instead... she decided she'd try her luck casting.... Rowyn summoning as she was was a much more dangerous opponent... these men would have to wait... her armor would have to do....

Gestalt (Su) Nine lantern archons can fuse together as a full-round action, becoming a single Large entity that is more powerful than the individual archons that make up its parts. Looking like a whirlwind of dancing firefly lights, the gestalt has all the powers and abilities of a Large air elemental plus the following: archon, good, and lawful subtypes; archon traits (aura of menace DC 16); 2 light rays (2d6); DR 5/evil and magic. The archons can remain in this form for 2d4 rounds. When the gestalt separates back into individual lantern archons, its remaining hit points are divided evenly among them; if it had less than 9 hit points, some of the component archons die when the gestalt ends.
Light Ray (Ex) A lantern archon can fire beams of light to damage foes. These light rays have a maximum range of 30 feet. This attack overcomes damage reduction of any type.

Urol drinks his potion, dropping his guard to do so. Dragon Lotus thief #6 wastes no time in taking advantage of this and cuts the gnome deeply across one arm (7 hp).

Logan cuts down DL#9.

Angati's spellcasting triggers an attack from the nearby dragon lotus guildsman, but his rapier has no chance of breaking through her armor. The magically summoned great cat appears next to Rowyn.

OOC: Please go ahead and roll up and attack for the jaguar this round.

The archon teleports to a spot right above the middle of the Blue Nixie and screams in rage.

OOC: DL1, 2, 4, 5, 10, 11 & 12 are caught by the aura (DL9 is already dead by this point). The savage pirates don't seem to be affected.
