In reply to Celene (msg # 223):

You got to attack at the end of character round one... which is the same as taking an attack at the start of character round two. You don't get two attacks in a row.

Re: 3F - SWW - Part Five: Journey's End

Unless you deem I have cover. Or it doesn't have combat reflexes.

When does #1 appear? That makes my turn much different. I believe it is still round 1 when I act just at the very end. Then I get to go again in round 2 after everyone else.

Re: 3F - SWW - Part Five: Journey's End

In reply to Celene (msg # 226):

The monster can't trace a line from any of its squares into your squares, so you definitely have soft cover. Okay, no AoO triggered then.

Celene's magical fire hits home and finally the creature seems to take some real damage (13 hp).

VH#1 appears in the monster's turn, i.e. before Celene gets to act. Celene is aware of VH1 before moving and doesn't need to move to the NE.

Yeah, you technically get to move at the end of the turns, rather than the start, but does it really matter? Considering the time zones you players are spread over, it is just easier if you post when you are online.

I just want to make sure that what I do at the end of a round is available for those at the beginning. I think we are on the same page. It just looked for a second like I was only supposed to act starting in the second round.

Amended my post to move south east.

If Logan wins initiative, his first attack still gets flanking, because the Mother is flat footed and denied her initiative bonus.

OOC: Yes, of course you are right. That is something independent of flanking.

Celene, please cancel that 3hp damage from Logan and replace it with the 37 hp damage from the sneak attacks!

Alohan hits, doing more damage than last time (10 hp total).

OOC: Oh, tough one. Is she immortal or not?

Despite being over one thousand years old, the mother-of-all isn't exactly immortal, and the monster squeals as Logan disappears from view. A second later he is back... striking hard (20 hp damage).

Kinstal continues his blows (3 hp).

I think Logan should only get one sneak attack though (most invisibility effects end after a single attack)...?

Kassius steps away from the vine creature and around the pit. Glancing around, he looks warily at the Mother. Blinking his eyes, his motions change, becoming agile and serpentine. His bow shots are slightly less accurate, but hopefully the erratic motions will help protect him, as he continues to ignore all other foes. Another spot is hit, with no significant effect.

Kibeti continues his own assault, trying to overwhelm the foes defenses with raw fury. He bites and claws, one claw literally ripping through resistant flesh and tearing out one of the foe's many eyes. Kibeti yowls in delight at the ferocity of battle.

Kassius:

He got the sneak attack in the first round from catching the BBEG flatfooted. He got the sneak attack in the second round from using invisibility.

Hang on, are you saying that the second of his multi-attacks in round two shouldn't be a sneak attack due to the invisibility effect only proving a sneak attack on the first multi-attack? That seems sort of sucky.

Ahh, screw it. Let's just keep going.

Kassius:
Kassius steps away from the vine creature and around the pit. Glancing around, he looks warily at the Mother. Blinking his eyes, his motions change, becoming agile and serpentine. His bow shots are slightly less accurate, but hopefully the erratic motions will help protect him, as he continues to ignore all other foes.

OOC: Just borrowing Alohan here for a second.

The native barbarian is thrashing around, trying his best to cut through the animate kelp of the mother-of-all that is trying to entangle him, but he is slowly disappearing under a green wave of rotting seaweed.

"You can do it, Kaluni," he states calmly. "Just focus. Pick de right spot. And let de arrow fly..."

Kassius:
Another spot is hit, with no significant effect.

"JUST MAKE DE FRAKKEN SHOT!!!" screams Alohan, all pretense at calmness lost. "How hard can it frakken be! Hit de damn heart you frakken moron!!"

The Mother-of-All squeals again and thrashes out with two kelp-claws at Kassius (2xAoO). The hunter just ducks and shrugs the attacks off.

Kassius:
Kibeti continues his own assault, trying to overwhelm the foes defenses with raw fury. He bites and claws, one claw literally ripping through resistant flesh and tearing out one of the foe's many eyes. Kibeti yowls in delight at the ferocity of battle...

...and does a lot of damage (36 hp are DR!). Kibeti's strange magical vines also reach out and <ENTANGLE> the terrible kelp monster.

OOC: That just leaves Angati to move in this round.

Re: 3F - SWW - Part Five: Journey's End

It all hinged around trying to give Kassius the right shot... and that... well.. that was her game, playing odds, wasnt it ?.

Angati's smile was somewhat devious, she knew things might go wrong, but when was anything garanteed to go right ? still, odds were her thing... She started casting one of the first spells she had learned, the measly "Ill Omen", and just as she she finished its casting...

Out of a flap on her cloak pulled out it's head a little black cat, pitch black just as Omi was, and in fact it kept some of Omi's gestures, placing a paw on Angati's neck, just as Omi did, it watched the monstruous creature in a somewhat human like fassion, its eyes shining maliciously for a bit as the monster looked at him.

Ok, I am not entirely clear on the situation, if I can give a MF to Kasius I would do that so that he can repeat his shot, but I am not sure if the odds are not good enough to use up that opportunity.
I will try to soften the monster a bit with curses on it though...

To be clear, Ill omen goes without save: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/i/ill-omen/ and next roll would be that of the Cat Sith bestowing its curse... so... lets keep fingers crossed.
So: Cat uses Bestow curse on the thing DC15. -4 to attack, saves and AC. I would use MF on him if need be.

In reply to Angati (msg # 239):

So your MF is cancelled out by her MF... No MF available.

Angati launches a curse at the beast.

<END OF PLAYERS' ROUND TWO>

The mother of all continues her assault on Angati. Despite the curse, the creature is successful in picking up the oracle in its jaws and racking its claws along her back... Angati's armour is opened up like a tin can. (30 damage total!).

Vine horror 1 chases Kassius around the lip of the maw, but hunter dodges its clumsy attack. The kelp raises up to its full height and then several creepers of kelp on the other side of the vessel animate (assassin vine 'a' will be active next round).

Another vine horror (VH2) extrudes itself through the wall of the hold and charges (well, not literally, it actually just walks) at Celene. She doesn't see the attack coming and is hit (5 hp damage).

<END OF CREATURES' ROUND TWO>

OOC: Okay, technically Celene's turn then all the rest of you.

Out of dirty tricks to use against the Mother, Logan resorts to the simple tactic of stabbing it with his poisoned blade as many times as he can.

Full Attack vs Mother, 6 damage

HP: 39/39 AC: 24/17/17 CMD:19  F2 R13 W4

14:47, Today: Logan rolled 24 using 1d20+10.  Attack 1.

Kinstal backs away from the plant monstrosity, turning his attention to the lesser foes beginning to break up their party.

Move to confront Assasin Vine 'a'.  Provoking AoO from Mother, probably.
Hit for 9 damage

Kassius steps away from the closest foe, still ignoring all distractions, all attacks, all noises. He is one with his bow and the target. Draw, knock, aim, fire. Repeat. He is only brought out of his reverie with the shriek of a clear hit. Finally.

Kibeti senses Kassius' success, and sees the foe weaken. His next bite tears flesh with far greater ease than the previous strikes had. The cat moves in for the kill, scratching and tearing hunks of flesh.

Two hits for a total of 35 damage (assuming DR has gone away, otherwise only 15), and Mother of All would have to make two reflex save (DC 15) or be entangled by vines, but is already entangled I believe.

Re: 3F - SWW - Part Five: Journey's End

Hearing the call from Kassius that the heart had been struck Alohan continues his assault on the mother sweeping his Taiaha through the vines making up her body. All three blows strike the cursed creature and the islander whoops in excitement.

Re: 3F - SWW - Part Five: Journey's End

<DM GETS HIS POCKET CALCULATOR OUT>

DM (muttering): thirty-seven plus one plus one <indistinct> thirty-six plus thirty-five god-damn munkins mutter mutter plus thirty-seven...

With a whoop of joy, Alohan dives into the middle of the terrible vine creature and starts ripping it apart from the inside. All resistance to the barbarian's blow gone, the native starts making quick work of the beast with his magical taiaha. Finally, the Mother-of-all screams and ceases her attacks on Angati. It looks eyes onto the oracle (many evil red eyes lock onto Angati's single set) and speaks.

"Don't go the same path as me, sister. Don't trust him."

Then the creature starts collapsing in on itself, falling into a writhing mass of rotting vegetation that howls and shrieks even as Alohan and Kibeti continue to rip it apart. Finally it lies still. The vine horrors and assassin vines in the hold of the boat likewise fall apart.

The party only have a few seconds to congratulate themselves though before they hear the horrible creaking noise of splitting wood and jets of water burst into the vessel. The 'maw ' itself collapse and water quickly wells up in it. They sprint out of the lower hold, past the now inert fronds of weed sticking out into the corridors and out onto the sargasso.

The weed itself seems to be awake, quivering and shuddering as it begins to unravel from the center. The countless vine horrors that were marching towards them are all spasiming and start falling apart into pools of sludge before their eyes. The 'land' quickly follows and they all start sinking into the weed as it looses cohesion. There is no way to make their way back to the Sea Wyvern, and within a few minutes they are treading water in between floating clumps of dispersing seaweed.

There they stay for an hour, until the Sea Wyvern appears on the horizon. She hones in on them, captained by the skillful Amella and plucks them out of the water.

OOC: Well, that was pretty easy in the end! Please return to the main OOC thread now.
