Jewelspur Canyon - Acvt 1 - Scene 2 - The Meeting Point
The rest of the wagons seemed to have no problems at all reaching the destination point. Everything on the maps seemed to match their immediate surroundings. They were on the edge of a mighty flowing river that seemed to cut the plains in two. The river seemed to take a sharp bend to the west. However, there seemed to be a few problems. Ayleurian's wagon was no where to be found, and another of the supply wagons seemed to be missing as well. The drivers went into a huddle to discuss what to do. After a brief moment, they disbanded and went to their respective wagons.

"We're gonna circle the wagons and wait till tomorrow to see if they show up. They might've just ended up somewhere over yonder and are working they're way back to us right now. Orders were to stay put for a couple days anyway to make sure everything is all here and fine, so that's what we'll be doing, for now." and with that, the driver took out his list of items and started double checking everything.

ooc: Yes, the drivers say exactly the same thing, for some reason or other. :P

Ethiendar, Rihannon and Torg are in this thread. Yay for No Mishap Teleportaion!

Ze'Cuun rejoins us! Yay!

Waking up in the back  of one of the wagons, Ze'cuun glances around.
Looking at the driver, he asks, "Where in the blazes have you gotten us to now? And how long have I been sleeping? I asked you to wake me up when we left!"

Re: Jewelspur Canyon - Acvt 1 - Scene 2 - The Meeting Point
After the teleport, Ethiendar noted that several wagons were missing. He stepped down from his wagon to approach the lead wagon.

"Rihannon, please work with the driver of the wagon to make sure non of our supplies are missing." he said over his shoulder.

When he got close he spoke to any within earshot.

"Do any of you here have any method of detecting where the missing wagons might have teleported to?" his manner was business-like, but not completely devoid of concern.

Re: Jewelspur Canyon - Acvt 1 - Scene 2 - The Meeting Point
The driver looked up from his list for a moment to respond, "I haven't the faintest clue how to find them. If they haven't run into anything too horrible they'll be here within a day or two. My job is to guide you all through this vast wilderness to where we're supposed to be going. We're lucky we even arrived in the right location unharmed. Worst case scenario, they're stuck in the river miles from here, possibly already dead. If that's the case, then in a few days we'll have no choice but to leave them behind. If you like, good sir, I notice you have wings. If you can fly up and look around you might possibly see them." The driver squinted a smile at Ethiendar and then went back to looking over the list and comparing it to goods and equipment on hand.

After going through a stack of barrels he noticed the man in the back of the wagon. "I haven't the foggiest of what yer talkin aboot. It may'n been one o' the other chaps ye spoke with. Yer lucky ye hadn't ended up off'n this wagon during the trip. Mighty fine dilemna that would'a been. Fall off during magicked travels and who knows where ye end up. I've heard one o' me brothers ended head first in a dung pit one o' the times he fell off mid trip. Went out blond-headed, came back brunette and stayed that way for the next week. One thing fer sure, ye always knew where he was." The man guffawed showing a row of blackened and missing teeth. He then wiped his mouth and the resulting smile changed into a full set of perfect pearly whites. The man then quickly went back to his list and continued checking over the contents of the wagon.

ooc: ***hand hiding face*** "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain" :P

Torg looked himself over, counting his fingers, toes, and extremities. Satisfied that nothing was missing from the trip, he let out a sigh of relief.

"Eh'd say our best bit is tae start a fire wi' plenty ay smoke sae they can folla' it. Th' lewd carvings're here wi' e'erythin' else by the by."

Ethiendar walked over to join Torg; tightening the straps on his backpack.

"That is a good idea. We will need fire to stay warm anyway. Can I count on you to lead the defense of the wagons while I am away?"

Once done checking the straps to ensure his pack would not fall off during flight he would spread his black wings to their full span, preparing to take off.

Tired of waiting, Ethiendar takes to the skies; rising fast until he reaches a good height. He circles slowly far out from the circled wagons, searching for any sign of the missing wagons from their group.

OOC: 00:48, Today: Ethiendar rolled 18 using 1d20+4. perception.

Up and up and up.  The people and wagons get smaller and smaller as the landscape grows to fill the field of view.  How a hawk can spot a mouse from this height is a miracle of nature.  It all looks the same.  Miles and miles and miles of grassy flats strewn with random boulders and trees.  But movement catches the eye.  A herd of Aurochs moving about chaotically.  Something had startled them and they look like they might soon stampede.  In the center of the herd is a wagon with two people struggling to stay on top.  They must be a few miles or more away.  Too far to get to them in time to be of much help with the animals.

Re: Jewelspur Canyon - Acvt 1 - Scene 2 - The Meeting Point
Ethiendar noted the direction the other wagon was from his vantage point over his own wagon group so he could return easily. Drawing his bow and pulling out a signal arrow, he loosed a single shaft in the direction of the wagon in the distance and then flew with in haste as fast as he could.

As he got within two miles of the isolated wagon he would fire off a second signal arrow to alert them to his approach.

OOC: I already notified Torg I was going out to scout, and the lead driver of the wagon won't be surprised to see me fly off (NPC, I know).

The herd is about 6 miles away from the camp.  According to game mechanics, 60' fly speed means a 30 minute flight to get there at a hustle.

OOC: Ok, I didn't expect to get there instantly anyway. At the least I can arrive, and provide medical services if needed; and guide them back to safety.

I'll wait before posting again until time has passed enough for me to fly the 6 miles.

>>> From Act 1 - Scene 2 - Emerald and Grabthar >>>

Emerald takes notes of the pearliness of Tarsis' teeth v non-pearliness of Tarsis' teeth in her little note book, along with noting the sudden hunger teleportation, then immediately grabs a ration to nibble on. "Instant, sure, but boy did that make me hungry." she comments. "Honestly, though, I wonder how much distance we just covered."

The wagoneer had grabbed his sheet of what could only be his wagon's inventory and was starting to check things off as he found them. "Ah, lass, that there trip was a 3-day traveling. Useful when teleportation fails, however it has some ungainly side effects. A person usually ends up experiencing all the travel time in one go, as you might be, lass." The wagoneer looked at the ration Emerald was eating before turning back to his checklist.

Ooc: need a will save from emerald.

Ayleurian kept the wagon moving at a steady pace toward the river and conversed with Abigail, making sure she was OK after their encounter with the aurochs. When Ethiendar's signal went off, Ayleurian waved at him and turned the wagon in his direction.

Re: Jewelspur Canyon - Acvt 1 - Scene 2 - The Meeting Point
Emerald found that one ration was not enough to satiate her. She would eat all food she has on her, up to a weeks worth of rations. Falling that, she would search out food, stealing it if need be, until she is.
