Jewelspur Canyon - Act 1 - Scene 6 - Up Creek W/out a Paddle
>>> from Jewelspur Canyon - Act 1 - Scene 5 - A Chase of Frogs >>>

Emerald, Grabthar and Ethiendar find themselves on a river, with a barge, and no way to move the thing if they wanted to. The giant eagle sits perched on the barge, it's feathers ruffled from the presence of the now-absent dragon, but seemingly overall fine. It squawked as it sat there on the deck of the barge.

Ethiendar will go through the barge, writing up a simple list of what he found on it; as well as looking for anything that could provide them any information about the dragon or the boggards themselves. Anything practical or useful (such as tools, weapons, armor) that he could carry he would bring up onto the deck of the barge.

Jewelspur Canyon - Act 1 - Scene 6 - Up Creek W/out a Paddle
Emerald just lost Ayleurian and almost lost Grabthar. Not a good day... yet she feels major relief that the dragon has left.

Seeing Eth is checking the barge, Emerald calls out to him, "I'm going to check on Grabthar and meet you at the barge."

With that, she heads over to Grabthar. "Grabthar, are you injured?" she doesn't wait for an answer before checking him over.

Grabthar checks himself for giant gaping holes or missing digits.

"Well... yes.  But much better than would be expected, it appears.  I don't understand why Allurian would charge into an unknown situation like that.  I intend to ask her when we recover her.  Ah, but where are my manners?  Thank you, Emerald."

He returns to normal size.

Ethiendar sets down a wood box he used to gather anything potentially of use for them that he could carry. He fixes a stare on Grabthar; not bothering to hide his derision.

"Recovering Ayleurian is impossible right now; but you are welcome to die trying if that is your desire."

During Ethiendar's search through the barge he found much equipment and supplies, however most of it was either unfit for consumption or in some form of disrepair. He did find a few items of worth, and what he did find was in the box. Anybody curious could see what looked like armor and bits of mace showing. And what showed looked to be in decently well-kept condition.

Emerald nods to Grabthar. "Not like I did much..."

Emerald gives a quick glance to the box Ethiendar brought. "Good find, Ethiendar."

Emerald then says, "With Ayleurian gone, we have lost the wagon master. We should regroup with the others, let everyone know what went down and find out who will be taking charge from here."

Emerald turns to head back to the others.

Grabthar perks an eyebrow and adjusts his monocle.  "After what just happened, I would have to be insane to imagine I could go toe-to-toe with Ayleurian's captor alone.  No, recovering her will either take an army or an especially skilled team of stealthy specialists."

He nods to Emerald.  "Don't suppose you could communicate with the eagle she risked so much for.  Perhaps it knows more of what's going on."

"About time you showed some caution." Ethiendar grumbles to himself before falling silent for a moment; looking uneasy for once.

"Before we go there is something I want to say. I have observed many humans in my life, and you two are nothing like any human I've ever seen. Before you leave there are more rations in the barge's hold, gather as much as you can carry and bring it back to the camp." This is the nicest any of you has seen Ethiendar; though his manner is still rather cold.

Emerald nods and doesn't take Eth's behavior for granted. Nor his suggestion. She goes for the rations. Worst case scenario, they are worthless. But Emmy DOES have "purify food and drink" for a reason...

While gathering the rations Eth mentioned, Emerald goes to the Eagle and casts her language spell again, hoping to communicate with it. "Hello... are you going to be staying with us?"

The bird squawked rather nervously at Emerald.  After a serious of squeaks and squawks and proliferate wing-tossing, the bird seemed to gesture at its back as it lowered itself towards Emerald.

Emerald pets the side of the eagle in a reassuring way, the same way she would with a person if they were upset, and nods to it before mounting the bird as indicated. "Your understanding is appreciated, friend."

Without waiting for the others Ethiendar flies back to the camp; flying slower due to the weight of the supplies he carries.

Once at camp he will sort out the armor and weapons.

Grabthar nodded a bow to Ethiandar before he flew off.  Seeing Emerald hop onto the giant eagle, he's figuring he'll be the only one hoofing it, so he gets started hurrying back.  But there'll be several glances for the area just in case there's anything that was missed.

As Grabthar left the area, he noticed a large tentacle had wrapped itself around the barge. With a pop, the barge splintered into a million pieces. Parts of the barge floated downstream while others sank into the river. The tentacle also sank into the river.
