Re: Chapter 2: The Assault on Tegal's Mark
"You cast magic..." Eldrai says looking Creed directly in the eyes, "...I have not seen you before. And I know nearly everyone in town. My guess is you're a traveler. The fact that you stand behind us is admirable if you are indeed foreign to the town. You may join Sevain and myself in laying low more of these goblin pests. Once we have saved as many as possible and turned the tide back I am sure they will retreat to the Sharburg. We will need to regroup with any remaining Mairshars and plan our attack on the fortress. It is quite defensible."

Carric

Carric's struggle against the rope is successful as he finds a place for his fingernail to dig in and begins to unravel the ropes. It takes a while for them to fall loose, long enough that the Goblins have finished their meal and are staring blankly into the flames.

Re: Chapter 2: The Assault on Tegal's Mark
Creed returns the weighing look with a sheepish grin and a second of widened eyes before he begins looking about again unable to hold eye contact for long with the intense man before him. "Hmm? I suppose some call it that...others a curse, and some still a blessing from the gods. As far as I know. It's kind of just a weird happenstance that when I wave my arms and say some random gibberish, certain things happen in this world. It's the same as learning to walk for the first time. You just keep trying different things until you figure out what works." Whispering quitely to himself now, "Sometimes it doesn't turn out the exact way you intended though..."
Creed seems to nod to himself and make a decision. Looking at the warrior and Sevain, "I am Creed, but I didn't quite catch your name?" Creed seems to look at him with question in his eyes before continuing and not allowing the man time to answer. Quickly pacing around while talking as if to a large crowd instead of just the two men. "I've been around about these parts for most of my life. Not often into the cities like this one here, but around. My mentor told me to help those who are suffering." Almost as if he can't keep his own thoughts inside his head Creed says, "I've always thought that should include the prevention of suffering, but that's a matter of debate in the order."
Once again Creed looks at Sevain and the warrior so they know he's talking to them, but almost making the statement a question. "I don't feel like anyone would enjoy their home being burned down or having their person set upon in the street. Although it's important not to prejudge people!", Creed suddenly yelled spinning about and fixing a fiery gaze on the two before slowly wilting. "It did seem like the goblins were the aggressors here though. I would rather like to know what drove them to attack here. Maybe I can convince them to seek peace with you and they can start a nearby town! That would be a wonderful precedent."
Creed was smiling and nodding while getting caught up in the idea of peace with goblins. Suddenly his eyes shot wide open and he looked penetratingly at the warrior again, "Did you say there were others to be saved!? Well let's not laze about around here! Where to man?"

Eldrai watched in quiet fascination at the odd man's bewildering display of words and gestures.

When Creed finally finished and yielded the conversation Eldrai snapped to. "Uh..yes, there are more to be saved! Coming Sevain?" He said in a hurried voice as he continued north east towards the Sharburg and another commotion further down the road.

"Yes, well..." Chras holds at the arrow protruding from her shoulder, blood pouring out of it. "I'm afraid I'm not going to be much company to you as...I'm feeling...quite...ill"

Chras collapses beside the wagon, her eyes rolling into the back of her head.

Re: Chapter 2: The Assault on Tegal's Mark

Carric

You are able to maneuver yourself around quietly and without notice while searching for your belongings. They seem to be all there though they have been rifled through. The Goblins still stare blankly into the fire having no knowledge that you have been freed, or that you are armed and dangerous.

Thizmaeck and Anoroc

Anoroc falls to the ground below from the second story of the burning building gracefully, rolling to avoid any damage to his lower limbs. He chases after Thizmaeck's hollering voice and rounds the corner just in time to see Thizmaeck cast his spell.

Thizmaeck's bolt strikes it's target as it rounds the corner and you both can faintly, over the roar of the fires, hear it cry out in pain.

Luna, Crash, and Timothy

As Timothy and Crash wrap their hands from the heat of the burning timber Luna immediately goes to the aid of the fallen lady. She takes the dagger in her hand and as she maneuvers it she feels how light and well made it is. The blade has blood on it that, despite not having been held to a particular flame, boils on the metal. The hilt of the weapon is engraved finely with a vine that begins at the pommel and twists upward toward the blade where it protrudes out over the blade as if traveling towards it's tip.

As Luna leans in to check the woman's breathing she finds it erratic, and soon she feels the woman's hand grasp her own smaller hand within it. The woman smiles at Luna and then whispers two words so only she can hear,"Briar's Thorn" before her eyes close and her spirit leaves her.

Re: Chapter 2: The Assault on Tegal's Mark

Thizmaeck and Anoroc

The camaraderie builds between the dwarf and the half-orc. As Thizmaeck rounds the corner he see's an Orc half sitting, slumped against a building. He clings to a sword tightly across his chest, it's jagged edge is covered in blood from his slaughter.

Thank Bane it's not an elf coming to seal my fate" he says as he spits blood from his mouth onto the ground. He has glass embedded in his flesh, presumably from the window, a deep gash across his chest from Ava's dagger, and singe marks from your spell. "Dwarve's aint too bad, tough, still just meat for the slaughter but at least they can fight. " He begins trying to stand "Whatcha waitin for dwarf? An invitation? Or maybe you wanna hear how the human girl fought how much..," The Orc begins to cough up more blood as he struggles to get to his feet.

Carric

Carric makes his way skillfully away from the goblins, and into the woods heading towards town. The moon shines bright, amplified by the ice crystals that hang high in the atmosphere, not that your elven eyes need the light as you progress further. Soon you find the road leading west into town. You step out onto the worn path, but from behind you you hear a faint growling sound. Instinctively you turn to find a pair of red eyes glowing in that same bright moonlight from the treeline you had just left from.

OOC: Your fleshy elven meat has caught the scent of a random monster. In this case a wolf.

You will have the first action on Initiative 13 then the wolf will go on 12.

I crouch into a defensive posture and, in the Celestial tongue, speak to the wolf. ""Noble Wolf, would thou make me your meal? There is not much meat here, but accompany me back to my captors and thou shall be well fed!"

Re: Chapter 2: The Assault on Tegal's Mark

Carric

OOC: Is that your only action? It's a free one. In case Logan didn't tell you, there is an option called "Ready an Action" that says:

quote:
Sometimes you want to get the jump on a foe or wait for a particular circumstance before you act. To do so, you can take the Ready action on your turn so that you can act later in the round using your reaction. First, you decide what perceivable circumstance will trigger your reaction. Then, you choose the action you will take in response to that trigger, or you choose to move up to your speed in response to it. Examples include If the cultist steps on the trapdoor, Ill pull the lever that opens it, and If the goblin steps next to me, I move away. When the trigger occurs, you can either take your reaction right after the trigger finishes or ignore the trigger. Remember that you can take only one reaction per round. When you ready a spell, you cast it as normal but hold its energy, which you release with your reaction when the trigger occurs. To be readied, a spell must have a casting time of 1 action, and holding onto the spells magic requires concentration (explained in chapter 10). If your concentration is broken, the spell dissipates without taking effect. For example, if you are concentrating on the web spell and ready magic missile, your web spell ends, and if you take damage before you release magic missile with your reaction, your concentration might be broken.
