Chapter 2: The Assault on Tegal's Mark

Tegal's Mark is under Siege from the North. Drahn Ek said "They have taken the Sharburg". The Sharburg is a fortress on the northern edges of Tegal's Mark rising on a hill overlooking the town. It's walls are 14 foot tall and it's towers 20 foot of  solid stone. It had served as the basis of operation for the Mairshars in recent past but they had moved most of their base of operations to the Capital of Tasseldale, the city of Tasselheart. Now only a small regiment of 20 or so had kept watch at the tower.

So how had these invaders taken the Sharburg? That is a question to be answered in time, but for now Tegal's Mark was burning, and it's citizens in grave danger.

OOC: We have entered combat folks. The town is being invaded by a horde of enemies. The party has acquired the services of Eldrai who is a Level 2 Fighter and will follow Sevain and  Crash a level 1 Bard who will follow Luna. As well you may be joined by various commoners (or maybe something more than a commoner) along your path. The people of Tasseldale are very self sufficient and most of the men are skilled huntsman at the very least. Even the average peasant is bolder than most of those in other dales and will defend themselves if attacked.

Your first post on this thread should be a statement of general action. As you can see from the map above you are all located in the tavern (the Dragon Emblem). Each of the Crossed Sword icons are known encounters. There is a general grid but don't worry about movement speeds at this time. Instead if you wish to engage one of the encounters simply say something like "I move north east towards the sounds of fighting" or something equally as general. The party does not have to stay together if you do not wish, but remember the old saying "There is strength in numbers" and lets have some fun testing out the new system and the new characters :)

I grab my weapon and rush outside to the northeast towards sounds of combat. I look around in amazement at how much the towns energy has changed since I entered the tavern, which feels like months ago.

I fell Steelshield rush past me as he leaves the Tavern. My eyes dart back to the crowd leaving while others help the wound man. I look back outside to see Steelshield running with his weapon drawn. I began to follow,
"I guess I see how he handle him self," I thought

Re: Chapter 2: The Assault on Tegal's Mark

Thizmaeck and Timothy

You both race up the street towards the combat. Timothy's longer legs gets him their a bit faster but Thizmaeck you are right behind him. Buildings on either side of the street are on fire and you can hear screams from inside one of them which has a sign hanging outside that reads "Ava's Ale Art".

"NO! Don't touch me! Please, not my babies no!"

A few moments later a goblin steps out of the building and begins looking around, he holds a scimitar in one hand and a lit torch in the other. As he scans around he see's the two of you standing there.

In Goblin: "Boss, we got company"

There is an indecipherable bark from inside and then you hear the lady begin screaming again.

In Goblin: "Will do boss" The goblin licks drying blood from his scimitar and begins advancing towards the two of you.

OOC:
Initiative:
Timothy [10/10 HP]
Goblin
Thizmaeck [11/11 HP]

Goblin Stats: AC [13]

Anoroc

The tavern has emptied, the only remaining person is the old crone you had issues with earlier. She doesn't seem to be phased and continues to drink her ale.

"Ain't you got some place to be beast?" she says while scowling at you.

As Crash and I leave the tavern we spot some fellow patrons running down the street.
"Let's go follow them. I don't feel sober enough for a one-on-one fight just yet," I say.

Re: Chapter 2: The Assault on Tegal's Mark
OOC: For the purposes of online combat, whenever your character is going to make an attack or skill check (any action) go ahead and roll the attack and assume that it hits and roll damage. Also unless I say so (or a map is implemented) you are able to move to within range of an attacker and attack. After the actions are declared I will put up a summary of what occurred. Thanks.

Re: Chapter 2: The Assault on Tegal's Mark
"I feel ya, I picked a dreadful day to start drinking Elven wine." Crash followed behind Luna as they dashed after Thizmaeck and Timothy. "Ever heard the tale of the Dwarven bard who drank his way through a human city? He stumbled his way from tavern to tavern, and drank each one dry. Then when he came to the last one the town had assembled to watch this feat of constitution, he started in on the humans ale and by the time he had finished all the ale the town stood in amazement. An Elf stepped forward. He smirked at the dwarf's gluttony and offered him a single glass of Elven wine, and if he could make it through the glass and then walk to the door he would give him a small fortune. The Dwarven bard accepted the challenge with much gusto and drank the wine down in a single gulp. Then began staggering his way towards the door to the tavern. He made it, barely, and opened the door. He stepped one foot out before collapsing. The Elf made honest on his word to give the Dwarf a small fortune, enough to keep him in Human Ale for years. But the Dwarf had learned something that night, One can face all the foes in the world but a single one made of the right stuff can be your end, however if you overcome the odds then you stand to reap great rewards." Crash looked over at Luna with a light smile.

OOC: Crash has given you an inspiration Dice Luna, Once within the next 10 minutes, you can roll the die (a D6) and add the number rolled to one ability check, attack roll, or saving throw you makes. You can wait until after you roll the d20 before deciding to use the Bardic Inspiration die, but you must decide before the DM says whether the roll succeeds or fails. Once the Bardic Inspiration die is rolled, it is lost.

Re: Chapter 2: The Assault on Tegal's Mark

Timothy, Thizmaeck, Luna, Crash, and Anoroc

Timothy's arrow finds it's mark in the Goblins knee with such force and at just the right time as to cause him to stumble and fall on his own blade. As the blade slides through his torso the torch falls into place so as to begin melting away the goblins flesh. His shrieks of pain are shrill but only last for few seconds. Then only the smoke and the scent of burning goblin flesh fill the air.

CRASH: "Moradin on high, the smell of burning Goblin. That is a scent you'll never shake from your memory"

Another cry is heard from inside Ava's Ale Art, and the flames from the building rise into the night sky slightly taller than before.

OOC: Timothy, Thizmaeck, Luna, Crash, and Anoroc are now at the encounter and will proceed as a group unless stated else wise.

"Luna!" Crash calls as Luna runs into the burning building. He steps into the smoke filled establishment with the rest of you, covering his mouth and nose with the sleeve of his tunic.

"This place is gone, we need to make this quick!" He yells over the blaze

Re: Chapter 2: The Assault on Tegal's Mark

Timothy, Thizmaeck, Luna, Crash, and Anoroc

The inferno in the building seems to be climbing up the walls, metal frames hang empty on the walls where once art decorated their interiors. Near a back set of stairs two bulkier goblins stand with heavy clubs and wearing tattered chain mail, they grin ear to ear as you step in.

"Fresh meat" one of them says in goblin to the other as you walk in. The other chuckles and nods.

A scream is heard again from upstairs and then a sound of furniture smashing against a wall.

OOC:

Initiatives
Luna: 13
Timothy: 13

I snap out of the trance that healing the guard had put me in. And run out to join the battle. I start making my way to the fort taking the road to the north west.
