Re: Chapter 1b: The Great Mushroom Cave
"I believe Aleric is going to need some magical healing" Cal frowns looking at Aleric's massive wound.

Glancing back at the nymph Cal asks her "Did you create him?" It was phrased as a gentle question of curiosity rather than an accusatory question.

The whole situation seemed a little odd to him. As if maybe she were testing the party or just setting up the situation for entertainment or perhaps something else entirely.

Gavina had aced decisively and positively.  Now, with the beast dead and the threat alleviated she clutched her staff with both hands and seemed to lean on it, trembling noticeably.

As others interrogated the figure on the mushroom, Gavina turned back to join in waiting for a response.

Re: Chapter 1b: The Great Mushroom Cave
For about two heartbeats, Anselm is frozen in thought. The frenzy of battle and the sudden end to it, along with the realization that this pale thing they had slain had been dead at least once before, rattled him briefly. Cal's observation brings Anselm back to the world, and he hurries over to Aleric.

The young cleric kneels at the fallen fighter's side, utters a short and heartfelt prayer, and brings a hand to hover over Aleric's wounds. The lashes and contusions are bathed in a pale light, as that of a dim morning sun. Anselm looks into Aleric's eyes for signs of waking life.

Re: Chapter 1b: The Great Mushroom Cave
The party turns their attention away from their fallen foe and toward the mysterious green lady. At first, she seems a bit taken aback by the questioning; shrinking to hide behind slope of the mushroom cap. Sensing that no attack is coming from the well armed group, she moves creeps once again. Meanwhile, the catepillar Gizmo returns to munching on the crunchy meal which was interrupted by the brief chaos.

"No, not real close," she says softly. "I mean we dated for a bit but his temper showed up too often for my liking," the woman says while twirling her hair with one hand. "So I locked him in there. Years ago. Gizmo and I have been doing well ever since," she tells the group nonchantly.

Looking toward the elf, the green lady replies "No. No, I didn't create him." Looking a bit confused, she adds "I guess ... all that anger just got to him." Shrugging her shoulders, you certainly detect little empathy or anger over the loss of the ogre. "At least now I can have that room back," she quips. "Though it'll be a bit drafty with that broken door."

The woman moves from laying down into a sitting position, her legs drawn up toward her chest and her chin resting on her knees. In the light, you can see that she is strikingly beautiful, even with the green tinted skin and dark green hair. "So what are you guys doing here?" she asks in an excited voice.

Re: Chapter 1b: The Great Mushroom Cave
Anselm moves over to the fallen form of the paladin. Looking over the bloody body, it is a wonder that the man still breathes. Saying a brief prayer, the cleric lays his hands upon the warrior as healing flows over Aleric's body.

"Thank you my friend," he says weakly. Aleric says a prayer himself and another glow of healing light illuminates his body. Although the spells closed the wounds and stopped the bloodloss, the paladin still looks pale.
"The creature's blows held some sort of evil within them," he says aloud. "I feel that I shall need a good respite before I continue on this journey."

The cleric helps him to his feet and steadies him as Aleric regains his balance. "I shall rest with Gustuvias and await your return," he tells his companions. "Good luck in your adventures!" With that, Aleric makes his way back to the cave entrance and the camp of the halfling's porter.

"You're not going to get any wind in here and you could hang an animal skin or garment in the doorway if you wanted the privacy...though that hardly seems to be an issue for you."

Turning towards Anselm, the party cleric "We should probably bury the body yes? Otherwise it's going to wreak horribly in a few days."

Anselm answers, probably too light-heartedly for the situation, but he has the sense to lower his voice. "That's a lot of work, you know. But these mushrooms are unusually ... large. Maybe they grow quickly? Our green friend might need ... compost? For her garden?"

Re: Chapter 1b: The Great Mushroom Cave
Dalscyr had no desire to dig ginormous holes in a rocky cavern floor, nor to burn the body of a rotting... whatever it was.

He did have a desire to slake his curiosity however, and so he joined Anselm in the exploration of the room beyond the broken door. The big people were much better suited to such sanitation matters, he'd joined on to explore and recover!

The green lady was obviously a bit off her toadstool, and Dalscyr didn't think that chatting with her was likely to really answer much of anything. Women were difficult to understand in general, being green only made it worse...

Re: Chapter 1b: The Great Mushroom Cave
As the group discusses options for what to do with the ogre's body, Dalscyr begins looking over the corpse with care. Meanwhile, the barbarian creeps forth into the room from which the monster emerged; followed shortly afterward by the halfling.

"Oooh! I didn't think of that," the lady replies wide-eyed and smiling at the suggestion made by Calaron. "Aren't you just smart one," she says enthusiastically while gazing at him more intently. Suddenly the green lady's demeanor sours as Gavina speaks about burning the body. She quickly leaps to her feet and then with outstretched arm and pointed finger she screams loudly "No fire!

Her words echo of the cave walls and the caterpillar stops its dining to look toward the party. It reels its body backward, a pair of wings suddenly sprouting from its body, and then it hisses at the group.

Gavina trembles noticeably.   "I -- I'm sorry.  No fire.  Of course.  No fire . . ."

She looks down and, while she continues talking, her words are soft and directed to her chin and are, thus, inaudible.

Re: Chapter 1b: The Great Mushroom Cave
"Whoah..easy everyone..everybody take a deep breath." Cal says calmly "There's been enough bloodshed here already."

Looking back to the beautiful green woman "Please, my lady, if I have to, I'll personally see to burying the body myself though I sure could use some help." he offers in way of appeasement. Cal understood the opposition to fire. Many fey and elves had a staunch opposition to fire and it's destructive properties especially against nature.

Re: Chapter 1b: The Great Mushroom Cave
The barbarian rushes forth from his position at the doorway, standing near the front of the party, ready to react to any threat. However, no attack is launched, as the sincere apology of Gavina and the diplomatic tone of Calaron seem to appease the lady. Her face regains its look of happy, innocence and she sits back down on the top of the tall shroom cap. Gizmo, the strange catepillar creature, lowers his wings; and after a moments of inspecting Adawulf from afar, he returns to his meal.

"So what are you guys doing here? the green lady asks. "I haven't seen creatures such as you in quite some time?" she says looking over the party. Though, once again her eyes linger on the elf, her eyelids batting at him while she flashes her best smile.

Re: Chapter 1b: The Great Mushroom Cave
Dalscyr let the others keep the green girl chatting, it was a good distraction while he poked through her "boyfriend's" things. He melted into the shadows and methodically examined the debris and clutter that was inside.

After he'd given things a looking over with his professional eye, he slipped quietly back out into the chamber with the others, wondering if their new friend might have anything noteworthy to say about the caverns.

"So," he asked, now with the previous edge out of his voice, "when was the last time you saw creatures like us? We actually were hoping to find some sign of a critter, erm... creature like us that went missing somewhere around here a while back. You wouldn't know anything about that would you? Cal here, he's a fantastic tracker. Did you know that? Yeeeesss.... he can follow a mouse trail through a straw pile. Anyway, I'm sure he'd be awful grateful if you could tell us about these caves, and the mushrooms, and your friend, and other creatures, and neat things to see, and..." finally allowing the girl to speak as he paused for a breath of his own.

Re: Chapter 1b: The Great Mushroom Cave
While the green nymph was certainly attractive and seductive Cal was grateful for having the other party members around. It helped stabilize his reaction and emotions. Also, he hadn't forgotten the monster they just slew that seemed to have been her 'mate' for a time. That point in itself was a bit disturbing and gave him addition doubts he might not have otherwise.

"We are here to investigate a dwarf that lived here some time ago and his belongings." Cal said simply. "How much do you know of these caverns?" Cal asked in return.

EDIT: added word 'not'

Re: Chapter 1b: The Great Mushroom Cave
Anselm waits and listens. He finds the green woman oddly charming, and, knowing himself, he'd probably stumble over his words if he were to speak to her. He waits and wonders if he should bring up again the idea of feeding the ogre to the mushrooms, because he thinks its a particularly elegant solution to the problem at hand, and he feels it was lost in the excitement about the fire.

Re: Chapter 1b: The Great Mushroom Cave
The warriors have little to worry aboutas the demeanor of both the nymph and the caterpiller both return to the carefree attitude they held the moments before the battle. "Seen the likes of you ..." she repeats while seemingly in thought. Continuing she says "We'll it certainly has been a few years. It most certainly would have been my boyfriend before Va'kag. Let's see, that would have been Nolan or Noldar, some human who wandered in here many years ago."

"Dwarves," she says with a laugh "Haven't seen any of those rock grinders around here." The lady turns her attention Cal once again, another smile on her face. "I know pretty much everything about this here cavern and the bigger one, it's like my home ya know," she announces with a quirky grin. "What is it you'd like to know, handsome?" the nymph asks smittenly.

"It is very kind of you to offer help" Cal says softly. "Perhaps if you wish, you could give us a basic layout of the tunnels and what dangers we should be aware of." Cal prepares to write some notes trying to keep his focus on getting the information and not acquiring a 'girl friend' even though she was easy on the eyes and seemed 'interested'.

Re: Chapter 1b: The Great Mushroom Cave
Miss Green:
"What is it you'd like to know, handsome?"

Dalscyr sidled up a little nearer to Calaron, close enough that the elf, with his excellent hearing, could hear the whisper that the halfling tried to hide behind a smile - sort of like one of those puppet masters who throw their voices into their creations - only not exactly like that because Dalscyr wasn't trying to put words into Calaron's mouth, but simply communicate to the elf without looking like he was doing so...

"Bigger cavern? Turn on the charm my friend, this little green dove could save us days!"

Then Dalscyr smiled even more broadly and spoke to the greenling. "Ahem... Yes! Calaron here just loves exploring caves and lurking about in the darkness... when he's not exercising that is. Have you noticed his trim figure?"

The little halfling was winking at the two of them encouragingly. He was ever so helpful and fancied himself as something of an expert matchmaker.
