Re: Out of Character (OOC):
No problem with that. I find it easier to keep track of who is who if that info is included in the bio lines :)

Re: Out of Character (OOC):
Alright, I will do that. Also, don't forget that you need to have "HP: current/max, AC: normal, THACO: base" in one of your bio lines.

I'll finish out magic items for the rest of you in the coming week, this should be Calaron, Dalscyr, and Gavina.

Re: Out of Character (OOC):
I'm basically ready to carry on with the adventure. I need to figure out my gear still. Also GM, are we allowed henchmen/hirelings? Dalscyr would have a big, dumb helper to lug his excess gear around...

->Isn't that most of the rest of the party... :P

On a somewhat more helpful note I believe they do list hirelings and costs in the players handbook.

Re: Out of Character (OOC):
Yes, so with Dalscyr's low ST, he will only be able to carry just the barest of essentials and still be able to function as a thief with how we're doing encumbrance. It would be nice to have a grunt. I just need to know from GM if he wants to put up with a hireling/henchman or not before I decide on the rest of my "stuff"...

Re: Out of Character (OOC):
I will certainly allow henchman / hirelings (torchmen, shield bearers, porters, animal handlers, men@arms, etc) in the game, however you must remember that they are not just mindless drones. They have personalities and agenda's of their own (shifty, cowardly, greedy, heroic, loyal), so they will be played appropriately.

Re: Out of Character (OOC):
Not being pushy, but perhaps we should just work out our gear OOC and then get moving with the adventure. We're sitting in that dangerous zone where a game gets bogged at character creation and the tavern scene and all of the greatness that lies underground will never be seen... ;-) just sayin' and just giving a nudge.

Re: Out of Character (OOC):
I've got a question about our equipment "slots" or how many items we can carry. I didn't see on the list anything about armor/clothing, only weapons and shields and a few other things. Are we to assume that Armor is either not counted or occupies 1 slot, 2, or?

If we're going to use Unearthed Arcana armor rules, I'm just trying to wrap my head around how to configure my character to be an effective thief. Depending on how this gets answered, I'll probably not have Dalscyr wearing armor and only carrying just the barest of essentials so that he will be able to do his job. Hence the need for a hireling/henchman.

Dalscyr only has a STR of 10, so that means 5 items for unencumbered. A bow, quiver, dagger or sword and thieves' tools fills 4 of the 5 right? Armor might mean 5/5. He's gotta stay fast and light. I admit, I'm really rusty at AD&D, I'm more familiar with earlier and later versions, so please bear with me and help me out with suggestions. I hope I'm not holding things up, but this probably makes sense to get this all out now rather than get a couple days into a dungeon and find out we goofed somewhere. ;-) Been there before! LOL.

Or... maybe we just don't worry about it? (wink, wink)

Edit: Also, under Encumbrance, it says here 10 arrows is one item, but arrows are sold in a dozen in the book...?

I guess we can sketch out a planned list of supplies.  Regardless of my magic items, I wouldn't anticipate needing much in the way of additional personal equipment.

Re: Out of Character (OOC):
Yes, you are correct, this is where games do tend to die. If no one has any questions, additional questions, then I'll move the game along. In addition, just use the OOC thread to list out any items you are looking to acquire.

Yes, armor fills one of the slots. As for the arrows, probably an oversight on my part.

Well I wouldn't have gone to all that trouble at creating a rule for it if I was going to ignore it. Now would I? Nudge, nudge

Re: Out of Character (OOC):
I think I'll introduce a henchman by the name of "Gus". He'll be a big type to carry junk and guard Dungeon entrances. Gus thought of becoming an adventurer in his younger years, but just couldn't get it all together and keep it together. He works well under direction, and is happy to be along without having to make decisions or manage himself too much.

Re: Out of Character (OOC):
We used have a henchmen named Odie the trapfinder. It become a running joke to see how many times we could kill him (inadvertently) during a dungeon crawl. I think the record was six if memory serves me correctly but it's been decades and the ole noggin ain't so good.

Is anyone else thinking of hiring or will Gus be the only "Extra"?

I'll finalize my Magic Item selection, and then I'm good to go!

@Gavina - be careful what you ask for. GM gave me choices, and I curse him for it! ;-) He came up with some cool stuff! How will I choose?

Gus could bring along an *actual* mule, the kid with long ears, to hold/carry supplies. They'd probably hang out and guard the entrance is what I was thinking...

Re: Out of Character (OOC):
Sorry, equipping characters is absolutely the least interesting thing in the world for me, so I'm having trouble really caring much. If you all want to throw together a list, I'll chip in my share(or more) for expenses. I have a fair amount of gold on hand.
