Derek moves forward, to both slake his thirst, and restore whatever health the pool might lend. He also hopes to assess whether it could help Roldare as well.

Dash seems to be waiting to see what happens before himself drinking.  Once satisfied it is save, he drinks, and then pours a small amount over his head despite the chill in the crypt's air.

Both Derek and Magnus drink from the fountain; they feel refreshed and stronger soon afterwards.

Re: 4th of Neth
"It's.....it's a miracle. I feel my weakness from the Shadow disappating. Huh. Now I'm ready to find out what other tests this place has, but we have a responsibility to get Roldare and his sister out of here. I'll collect some of this for Roldare....it might aid him."
Derek empties his waterskin to the ground beside the pool, and fills it with the potent liquid, intending to give it to Roldare when they see him.

Re: 4th of Neth
I guess Gorum would want me to be at my strongest. Erich dunks his face into the fountain and drinks deep. It would be one heck of a time for him to forsake me. The large holy warrior chuckles as he wipes the water from his chin.

Re: 4th of Neth
Having slaked your thirst and felt the rejuvenating powers of the fountain you bring Dimira to see her brother. The two embrace instantly and both begin to sob quietly. Once the tearful reunion ends Derek offers his flask to Roldare who drinks deeply. The man remains skittish but the wailing seems to have ceased. You gather up the rest of the mans belongings and you start to make your way out of the crypt. Passing through the trapped room Dimira stops and looks around.

"You managed to not spring a single pit." she says looking astonished "There is a bag of platinum in the center pit. It won't take much time we shouldn't just leave it behind." she says.

With a small amount of effort you descend into the pit. There is a number of pillows at the bottom among them you find the pouch it contains four platinum coins.

Dimira doesn't speak again until you have exited the crypt and then only to comfort her brother. The slain horses have attracted more flies and crows fly away as you approach. The place seemed sinister when you arrived now the sight is merely depressing. The six of you reach Kassen without further incident.

As you near the village you can hear jubilant voices and it becomes apparent there is some kind of feast in your honor. Mayor Uptal rises and moves quickly to greet you. "Welcome Home heroes of Kassen!" he shouts but his expression falters and his wide smile vanishes as he sees Dimira and Roldare both looking haggard covered with dried blood and bruises. He seems to be looking around and past you expecting to see others arriving with you perhaps. His mouth drops open and he stares at the four of you.

Dash i'll assume you drink once you see no one else keeling over.

I awarded you all XP. You didn't quite make 3rd level. (see rewards thread) You might have had you explored more. Which is still an option if you'd like.

Re: 4th of Neth
Dash notices the mayor's reaction and, once close enough, gives the man an odd smile.  He speaks low enough for only those nearby to hear, feigning exhaustion though that may not entirely be an act. "Mayor, you seem out of sorts, like you've...  seen a ghost or something.  We sure did, ghosts, skeletons, all sorts of fun."

The mayor is speechless for a moment after Dash makes his comment. "Where are the others? There was ten...you came back with only two..." he said.

Re: 4th of Neth
Dash scratches at his growing stubble.  "Well, had you told us we'd be rescuing someone, maybe we could have.  Though I suspect the others must have perished.  Job was to light the lantern from Kassen's Flame, and return it.  Us happening upon those two was...  circumstance.  I'm sure Roldare and Dimira can tell that tale, and I for one would be interested to hear it.  Now, we've been days without a hot meal...  we can discuss more during, or after, the celebration?"

The mayor looks flabbergasted "How can we...how can you...they were supposed to give you a good show..." he stammered before he turned and looked over the crowd finally finding Dimira and Roldare. The large man moves towards them apparently looking for answers.

Re: 4th of Neth
A man wearing a green cloak and chain armor brushes past a pale skinned man with blue hair. He is a tall man with a pinched face that bears a scar running from his hairline to his jaw he addresses the four of you in quiet tones "If I may have just a moment of your time." he says and without allowing you to respond he continues "My name is Cygar Anravis. I am an agent of the Pathfinders and I may have work for you when this is all settled." he says gesturing to the halted celebration. "Come find me at the Seven Silvers when you have the time." and with that he moves into the crowd vanishing from view as quickly as he appeared.

Re: 4th of Neth
The man with the blue hair follows the Pathfinder agent through the crowd.

Derek calls after the mayor but the man seems to have started a conversation with Dimira and Roldare. Roldare looks frightened and shies away from the conversation. Dimira tried to calmly answer the mayor's questions. Based on the bits of the conversation he is asking what happened to the others.

You make your way closer to the conversation the crowd parting before you "We were attacked by skeletons. They killed our horses; we tried to fight but none among us were warriors. Those than weren't killed outright were dragged off. Roldare had been sweeping one of the rooms inside when the attack happened and was able to hide. I was knocked unconscious and was roused by the heroes." she said gesturing towards the four of you. The mayor turned and looked at you all appraisingly but otherwise was silent. Dimira stood on a small bench and called for the assembled crowd to quiet down "Asar's ghost greeted these men after they rescued me. He thanked them for putting a stop the skeletal warrior who killed our friends and family. Without their intervention they may have attacked Kassen and caused greater suffering. This feast was to be a celebration let us instead eat and drink to those who did not return." she called out mournfully.

A general agreement made its way through the crowd and the villagers set about with the final preparations for the feast. Mayor Uptal sat down clearly upset and possibly broken from sending his people to their death. Dimira looked down at him with pity "Mayor we should light the Everflame? Should we not?" she asked. The mayor looked up and nodded "Yes. Yes..indeed." the man's eyes well on the lantern Dash carried "Please light the Everflame may it see us safe through the winter." he said somberly.

Assuming you move to listen in to his questioning.

Dash likely would have, yes.

Dash lets them lead him to his duty, lantern in hand, expression blank from fatigue.

The crowd parts again and Dash can see the lantern hanging prominently from a post in the square. He steps forward and touched the Everflame to it a subdued cheer rises from the assembled villagers before they take seats and begin to partake of the food that has been prepared.

Re: 4th of Neth
Derek approached the mayor to her the explanation. He adds "Asar and his friend were both wearing amulets when they were buried, to prevent them being disturbed, I'm guessing. Before Roldare and his crew showed up, at least two grave-robbers went into the crypt and stole the amulets. Asar's friend then awoke as a Skeletal warrior, and proceeded to raise other undead. One of the robbers was killed, and his body left within the crypt, but there must have been at least one other along, for both amulets are missing. I'm hoping to rest and resupply, then go back inside with the others into the crypt to see if we can find any clues to their identities."

When Dash uses the Everflame to relight the lantern, Derek cheers along with the town.

Re: 4th of Neth
Dash smiles weakly at the cheers, not feeling particularly cheerful himself, and joins Derek and the Mayor.  "I'd...  like to apologize to the poor man we first encountered.  We did not know you would have townsfolk, ah, 'making it interesting' as it were.  I fear we gave him quite the fright.  I wish we had known there were more, but I understand that would have...  ruined your surprise.  Maybe we should have figured; I don't know."

Re: 4th of Neth
The mayor regains some of his composure and listens to your tale.

"That is horrible...Asar was indeed entombed with Kassen. They were friends but died as enemies. I would ask if you return to take a wagon from the village and horses. Please bring back our dead so their families may have some sort of closure." the Mayor Uptal addressed Dash next "You did indeed frighten Holghast; his evasiveness was only part of the adventure. Perhaps this event has reached it's end. People will not soon forget what has happened today. If you wish to speak with him he is sitting just there." Uptal points out Holghast and you recognize him from your journey.

Assuming you meant Kassen's friend.

Re: 4th of Neth
Erich's joviality seems out of place among all the dour faces. He cheers louder, smiles broader and speaks not of sorrow but of joy. He moves about the crowd asking those who look most sad about the loved ones they lost. He tries to pry fond remembrances from them, stories of their past glories and the like. He won the archery competition at the fair three years running! She helped you save your gran's hutch from a house fire...that was very brave!

Re: 4th of Neth
Dash makes his apology to the old man they had first encountered, and generally avoids other conversation with the locals as best he can, though not impolitely.  Simply smiling and nodding and deferring compliments, and giving short apologies to those who lost someone.
