Re: OOC chat
Well, it looks like the house offer has fallen apart on both ends (our buyer backed out, another buyer is offering an insultingly low amount and won't negotiate higher, and we're within days of having to withdraw our offer for the other house because we no longer have a buyer for ours), so I'm back for a while!  Nothing like the Ninth World to take your mind off of things.

For C40rla and her abilities, since she was an infiltration and observation unit, I was thinking a Scan-like capacity to accurately evaluate the world around her, as well as a way to integrate and interact with automatons.  Also a shape-changing ability like the mestigophre, to be able to shift her appearance to attract less suspicion (which might be reflected in a higher-level disguise than her base level).

Sorry to hear the news about your house. We spent months, and it was nerve-wracking, too. But yes, let's focus on the nice things.

Re: OOC chat
Ok, I think I can grant the abilities you want for C40rla. As for the shape-changing ability, I think we can treat it -the shapeshifting ability- as an "artifact": it will be powerful, you get to say how C40rla changes, and it will have a 1/20 depletion after the first use.

Re: OOC chat
Ok, so I hilariously underestimated the amount of time it would take to finish packing, then moving, then setting up the new house.  I mean, the day of moving and initial setting up wasn't too bad, but then I was like, "Ok, a day free, I'll just go on the internet and update RPoL now..."

*404 internet not found*

Then we got that resolved and I was like, "Ok, a day free, I'll just go on the internet and update RPoL now..."

*404 air conditioner has stopped working - also, you need to go back to work now*

Then we got that resolved and I was like, well you get the drift...

*Suddenly, a wild out-of-town guest appears!*

Which was fun, but then I'm a month or so behind in all of my games and I feel rather bad about it.

So, yes, now I am a bit more better situated.  Much better house, reliable internet, working AC, work schedule more or less back to normal.  I hope to update all of my games within the next three-four days.

Re: OOC chat
First of all: Congratulations on the new house! That's great news!
Second: I'm relieved to read this and happy to have you back. I did fear you'd just dropped off the game, but you kept replying now and then. I look forward to your updates.

Effort was to just make sure I hit, because I figured I wasn't going to get too many chances.  For the major effect, could I "disarm" her of the tablet as well?  :D

Re: OOC chat
Of course!
In fact, it's better if you narrate what happens (apart from the 4 base damage). For context, Ceara is badly hurt, but not yet near death.
Do remember that you get the points spent on effort back because of the 20.

Ah-hem, I think Final Command is more practical in this respect, so I shall update later this morning with a more rational course of action.  ;)

A heads up: I'm taking my holidays for two weeks or so starting Friday, so I'll probably not be able to post much in this period.

In reply to Final Command (msg # 136):

Thanks for the patience. I've been swamped by work and by general unpleasant feelings. Finding the time to write and coming up with the story was hard. I'm sorry.

Re: OOC chat
I deeply understand uncooperative feelings.

Me:  "I'd like to do this thing.  I've been meaning to do this thing, and I'd like to do it."

Brain:  "Nope."

Me:  "But, the thing!  And these other things!  And some chores too!"

Brain:  "Nah.  How about we binge-watch some TV instead?  Or maybe do nothing.  Nothing also works."

Me:  "Well, I do like this show, but how about we watch a couple of episodes, then go do a couple of things?"

Brain:  "LOL.  No.  Things are canceled today."

Me:  "Well, when can reschedule the things?"

Brain:  "Tomorrow?  Next week?  Next month?  I don't know man, I just work here."

Me:  "Help?"

Brain:  "Not from me!"

Me:  "*&%$#!!!!!!"

Re: OOC chat
Wow. This has been an amazing journey. I want to apologize for leaving this dropped for so long, but even more, I want to thank you for being here, telling this story with me. I have enjoyed this enormously, and have always been surprised by every turn of events. It has been an honor to see how Fin's story unfolded.

There is of course space for an epilogue. You can help me tell what happened to the Weal, to Fin and her family, after this.

What do you do now?

Thank you for such a wonderful game!  I have run a few Numenera campaigns face-to-face, but I haven't had one complete in play-by-post.  It's been a bizarre, wonderful run, just full of the weirdness and awe that makes Numenera so great.

And by all means, let's wrap up this tale!  :)

... I am, again, sorry about this.
I'm sorry I ghosted this game. Life got in the way, yes, but it's no excuse.

If you want, please give me a couple days to set up and let's end this game on a nice note.

Re: OOC chat
Ok, still toodling through my books on what I found - with Orkmal's mind and the help from the nano-spirits, can we effect a vaccine on the virus affecting the weal?  I know the nano-spirits said nothing would quite be the same, but since the alternative is eventual deactivation for a significant portion of the Weal, Molfeen would like to give the Weal the chance to choose.  Most are very practical and adaptable, so I had a feeling most would see it as a reasonable solution to the problem they presented Final Command with.

Also, regarding what else I found, probably something that builds, something that shields, perhaps something that can identify or store information?  Spitballing here as I cruise through my Technology book...

Re: OOC chat
You can certainly build a digital vaccine using the knowledge in the Cube. After all, Ormakal and their cronies devised the initial "virus". There's no end to the available knowledge contained in the little thing Fin got back. As for the cyphers, you get:
- A L7 Crimson builder: it's actually a very detailed set of plans, indications and schematics for building a large digital/physical repository of knowledge. It's a pretty bright red color. Once activated, it prints its contents using soil molecules from around itself to generate the printed material. Maybe set it down first. It then works independently for a month, letting the user access holoscreens of the schematics
- A L4 personal force shield. You could study it carefully to extrapolate how to build a larger shield for the Weal

... And scene.

I think this is a very nice spot to end this adventure. I have enjoyed so much to be a part in
Fin's story. I want to thank you for the honor and pleasure of running this game.

(I'm sorry if the above sounded too short: I was replying from my phone.)

To expand: I'm floored at what we both made. I'm floored at what you made with the wild guesses I threw. I'm so, so proud of this. Thank you, again.

Re: OOC chat
Thank you so much for running this for me!  This had a particularly wonderful Ninth World feel - I felt off-balance in a good way.  I felt the danger of Fin's quest, the strangeness of the world as I ventured out into unknown territory, and the desperation of trying to hold it all together as she found her mother and tried her save her known family.  This game was such a delight for me!
