Yes for now.  You've likely got a little time before they scuttle back into the deeper part of the cave, though depending on what you decide to do they might back off sooner rather than later.

You guys still with me here?  If you're not feeling as interested in this game as you are in the other one I don't mind.  I can just put this one on hold until we get a chance to come back to it, or even drop it completely.

I think Ihvon is trying to figure out what to do.

Still here for sure, you just have stumped me a little more here as to how to proceed. ;)

Ihvon asked me to pass along he'll be posting around lunch time. He escapes from the salt mines for only a little bit each day. :P

Re: OOC - Game Discussion
I'm telling you auditing salt mines cube by cube of the microscopic things are damn taxing.

I want to bring back at least 1 of the remains to ease Caylif's mind.  So...

I'm not sure which enemy is the one I want but I figured I'd tell you here and we'll see how you drop things in the map.

Ihvon is going to sac his last/bonus 3rd level spell to summon up fire elementals right behind the one that took the sunlight damage.  He'll then use his move action to shift into direwolf form which will give me a 10ft reach to engage the minotaur and enrage him further.  Striking at me will burn him again but maybe the rage will get the better of him.  Ideally I'm hoping it's one of the ones to the side so I can limit them all attacking me but the hope is to at least drop one.

Re: OOC - Game Discussion
I believe they've each taken sunlight damage at this point, but it was the one in the middle (Red) which attacked Aasa most recently.  I'll be able to update once I get home this evening, looks like a busy start to my work day unfortunately.

Hot damn Keroman!  Your GM powers are having the dice roller slaughter me now in both games :D

That is some serious ouch.

Re: OOC - Game Discussion
While I generally dislike fudging rolls I'll admit to doing so if I feel like it would make things entertaining or pump up the tension in a fight.  Even then I do it rarely.

I did do it once during the fight with Verhoven though it turned out to be pretty ineffective: I wanted him to hit you at least once with your own axe so I forced a "natural" 20 then rolled to confirm normally.  The critical did not get confirmed, but you still got to feel your own axe.

I did not, however, fudge Celeste's attempt to talk one of the Cutters down - I had even told her in PM prior to the roll that the only way it would work is if I rolled a natural one for his sense motive, so when it happened I absolutely had a holy shit reaction.

I would, of course, never fudge a roll when the life of a PC is on the line.  Given that in this game you were attempting something that could have gotten you killed those rolls I just made were all legit.

Re: OOC - Game Discussion
Never questioned it, we're just lamenting our luck.

In my other games I managed to roll at least 6 natural 1's (d20s and d10s in WoD) at very very bad times, and couldn't get a roll above 5 for the longest time... I swear the new roller has angered the dice gods.

At least we're alive, but I do blame Aestus for the whole mess. :P

How many rounds am I still paralyzed for after this? I see her trying to move as this all is unfolding.

I figured Ihvon waited until you were up and moving again before trying his luck, so you're not paralyzed at the moment.

Luckily we're out of range too.

Good time to get a max roll for once, helps mitigate some of that nasty crit.

So you already know about my imminent vacation, of course.  I figure we should just put this game on hold until I get back.  What do you guys think?

I'm ok with that, Ihvon and I can RP a bit if he gets a chance. Migraines were wrecking him last week.

Re: OOC - Game Discussion
What's the next big move you guys would like to take?

Do you want to:
A) Keep at it with the ghouls in hopes of taking the other two down?
B) Go back to the Vestris' farmstead?
C) Follow the pull of the ring?
D) Go back to Little Castille?
E) Something else?

Re: OOC - Game Discussion
I'll let Ihvon interject, but I believe that the plan at one point was one of us warn the Vestris homestead and the other go to Little Castille and warn of the threat... then regroup and follow the ring.

Re: OOC - Game Discussion
Next big move will be back to the homestead.  Offer the ashes of the one creature as proof of killing one of them and let them know what's going on so they can be better prepared.

We may not be following the ring yet but Ihvon will want to use his own innate direction sense to get a feel for which direction it's pulling at various times so if he comes across a map he can take a few guesses/draw a few lines under the assumption of it wanting to pull in a generally straight line and a few from separate areas might give a small triangulation.

Also at the homestead using detect magic to ID the various and sundry magical items he picked up, along with the ring, it might give us more info.

I'm good with that plan, maybe we shouldn't split up in our current condition.

That is why I didn't mention splitting now :)

Re: OOC - Game Discussion
I don't really remember you guys picking up any magic items besides the sceptre/ring combo and the Great Wall chief's spearhead.  The skull isn't magical, nor is the cloth that was in the chest with the sceptre.

Did we know that they were/were not magical IC?

Yeah, Ihvon used detect magic and gave 'em a good long look.

Re: OOC - Game Discussion
You mentioned when I scanned the room that I spotted a number of items and then I posted about collecting them up as they searched.  It wasn't I grab this specific item but kinda all encompassing.  We had part of the conversation in a PM about Ihvon first not feeling right about it and then realizing that it could help fight the vamp, possibly give some to Cayliff and otherwise not leave it for looters.

Now if I wasn't explicit enough that's okay I guess...

Ohh, now I remember.  It was so damn long ago it slipped my mind.  I was going to roll for some minor magic items for that stuff.

Re: OOC - Game Discussion
Yeah it was a bunch of nondescript things and gems to take out in the outside besides the chiefs spearpoint.  Inside you were a bit more specific ala

quote:
With detect magic active you'd notice a few magical auras around the room, all of them faint.  A weapon here, a piece of armor, a quiver of arrows, a trinket on a shelf.  The bull skull, surprisingly, is not magical, nor are the gems which decorate it.

So did you enjoy my light recap of the previous game?  Those were some good times and I'm glad you let me keep playing Ihvon since then.
