Re: OOC - Game Discussion
They're not necessarily intelligent beings but they know how to hunt prey and how to keep hidden when necessary.  Also, their lack of sight isn't a huge hindrance when they have the scent ability.

Whoops, sorry!  The light cuts off at the cave mouth since it's just after noon.

Re: OOC - Game Discussion
Alright, I kind of cut the minotaur's action short because I was working something out with Ihvon.  If you guys just want to hold position let me know and I'll have the minotaur go again.

Yeah, I'm going to motion to Aestus to scratch the ground.  Enough to get the creature moving again even if it's warily.

I found an artist's rendering of Aestus' current predicament.

Re: OOC - Game Discussion
Quick question...

Since Aestus was holding his action does he get to attack at the same time as the minotaur does when it advances?

Re: OOC - Game Discussion
It's out of his reach, isn't it?  Although I suppose he could take a 5ft. step towards it before attacking.  Go ahead and make the attack vs. AC 16.  If he gets the free trip attempt the CMD of the minotaur is 23.  He needs to overcome both or the paralyze effect stands.

Re: OOC - Game Discussion
How does drag work against a paralyzed ally? If he knows it's me do I even need to roll to hit? Would it just be to determine how far I've pulled him?

Re: OOC - Game Discussion
No, he's helpless in the first place which means he couldn't resist if he wanted to.  Even if he wasn't, he knows you so he wouldn't resist being dragged.

You can drag him 20ft. per round, maximum.  Be warned that doing so is going to provoke an attack of opportunity from two out of the three minotaurs since you're not making a withdraw action.

Ohhh I'm probably going to regret doing it but it's what Aasa would do. Please dice gods no criticals on me. >_>

Re: OOC - Game Discussion
This is getting tense!  At least Aasa's safe.  I dislike punishing players with death just because they fail a single save which is why I added the reflex save in there.

Also since these minotaurs are essentially mindless creatures I'm going to say they can't coup de grace.  I feel like most animals don't necessarily attack their prey until the prey is dead, just until it's helpless and then they chew on it until it dies of blood loss.  An intelligent being knows just how to finish a helpless enemy off but not an animal.  I'm sure there's some animals that are the exception to that rule but I think it fits well in this situation.

Ha!  I actually just looked up the coup de grace on the website just to make sure I was clear on the rules.  It actually says you can do it with a melee weapon or a ranged weapon up close.  It says nothing about natural attacks so it makes sense these minotaurs can't do it.  Though in a few rounds that won't really matter, now, will it?

*whines* Man that was so lucky of it, I thought I was golden. >_<

I very much appreciate that reflex save, I don't want to be minotaur chow!

Aite...

Posted.  I see two AoO on Ihvon as he gets into the light and next to Aasa.  Hauling Aestus shouldn't pull AoO from Yellow but if it does hopefully I can pull Aestus the rest of the way.

All on you good GM :)

Re: OOC - Game Discussion
You know... I just realized this doesn't fit so well with the fact that all the dead minotaurs aren't really injured that much, they're just drained of blood.  I guess it would make sense for them to stop fighting once their prey is paralyzed, since they can just suck it dry at that point.  But to be fair Ihvon is still there providing a distraction.

Hrm... I still feel like it would be unfair to just let them auto-kill anything after one hit, at least at your characters' current level.

I guessed before we did this that they were really tough, I just didn't know it was in the form of paralyze and kill.

Re: OOC - Game Discussion
Well my original thought was that you could use the beams of light shining into the cave to trick them.  Three hits of sunlight each and they go poof, and given they're blind they have no idea where the sunlight is so they can't avoid it when charging.  I even gave you a little example of it when they first showed up. :P

Consider yourselves out of combat at this point, unless you want to jump right in and attack the minotaurs again. :P
