Re: Chapter 1: Greetings and Salutations

The creature's flesh is simultaneously flamed, frozen (4 cold), and beaten with a stick. Aldridge's arrow flies high, sailing over it, however.

It slashes once more at Ryudo, but the the frost in its bones gives him plenty of time to dodge.

Attempting to finish the creature off, Ryudo swings his quarterstaff, the wooden blur smashes the cat in the face (23 to AC, 9 damage).  Feeling inspired, his follow up attack also lands solidly with the cat's gut (15 to AC, 5 damage)

Re: Chapter 1: Greetings and Salutations

Alwanzatar and Westra miss, but the rest of the party continues to pummel the beast.

The beast chuffs angrily as the ground grasps at his legs. He rips and tears at the ground, but can't break free.

Re: Chapter 1: Greetings and Salutations

Feeling a little overconfident over the sight of the tangled kitty cat, Aldridge replaces his bow with his rapier, closing the distance to jab at the agitated creature (AC 10, damage 9).

"Rather than at my attempted strike you laugh, I would suggest you strike him again with your staff," he sings at Ryudo (Bardic Inspiration, d6).

Airdsgainne makes an underhanded throw, arcing a sharp icicle over the creature and striking its far side. (Ice Knife, 16 attack, 1 damage, far side = no damage to Ryudo)

Aldridge heaves a huge sigh of relief. Before he lets down his guard, though, he casts Dancing Lights to the back of the cave to make sure there are no more surprises waiting for them.

Ryudo looks down at the creature with pity.  "Poor thing, probably just wanted in out of the cold same as us.  Can anyone tell how long this storm will continue?"  He says as he looks outside.

Re: Chapter 1: Greetings and Salutations

Aldridge explores the cave thoroughly. There is a large room behind this one. From the fur, it appears that the cat was nestled beneath a small overhang in the back room. It would be very easy to miss a cat hidden there, even if you were looking for it. The cave looks to continue farther down, although the way is currently blocked. There are rocks that have fallen to block the way.

Westra, after walking around the beast and muttering to herself, decides to go about butchering the cat for its meat. "Does anyone want me to see if I can salvage the pelt?", she asks the cave at large.

Re: Chapter 1: Greetings and Salutations

Saphira licks her lips at the feline corpse. Aldridge returns from the larger cave entrance to the campfire to calm the drake, and to keep her from curling up in the fire with his goods. His attempt to hide his desire for the cat's skin (and the profit that could come from it) is significantly more effective than his beast's.

"Certainly," Aldridge answers his fellow human. "I know a number of clans who would offer a great deal for the hide of such a savage creature."

"And," he continues, "when we're done, anyone up for a little more exploration further in? There's a little more room for us to move around further in. The storm doesn't seem it will let up any sooner, and the temperatures should be a little more stable."

Saphira moans at the suggestion of moving away from the fire.
