Hey y'all!  I personally do not need purging as I am real regular!  And quite full of it at the same time!

I would like to not only play, but be far more active.  I have to admit that before I was seriously overwhelmed at the quality of the writing .  Add to that the fact that my character is not so strong as many that were here.  It seemed like I would get into a SL that would stall out.  Not all the time realiztically, but I was nervoucs.  I have gotten the brass cleaner out and am more shiny now if ya get my meaning.

Editor's Lounge (OOC Chat 3)

There was a suggestion made as to the future of this game, and it was thought best put before the players for their input;

In short the idea is to create another Gift of Power, and have everyone simply move over to it. This will liberate me from certain promised obligations allowing more freedom in my new roll as head GM, and reduce the amount of work required in trimming characters, threads and so forth.

RPOL has an established rule about stealing the work of someone else, yet Scripts has always been free and open with their material even to the open discussion of how the Gifts worked. I made my own game based on this one, and after showing it to them they stated they did not believe to be stealing from them.

I plan to place an announcement in the new Gift of Power, clearing putting forth the fact it is to be considered every bit as much Script's property as the original. If they return and should they wish to become so, they will immediately be seated as the head GM in the new version. Anything they desire will be done at their request, including the complete shut down of the extension if such is their want. I will also put an announcement here that will explain why a new version was created, and provide a link for any long lost players whom might happen to drift past. With all these precautions in place, it is my hope our effort will be seen as an attempt to keep Script's dream alive and not an open attempt to steal it.

Once the new version is ready, I will advertise for new players. This is one advantage of the move, as I cannot currently do so.

A second change will be the addition of a new co-GM, for which I will no longer need agreement. I have offered the pending position to Dieter, and he had graciously accepted.

So that is where we are now, and as this game has always been open and honest with its players I would like very much for that tradition to continue. So please post yours thoughts, worries, insights, and ultimately your vote for how you wish for us to proceed. I will wait a span of several days, as I wish all remaining players to be able to openly voice their opinions without being pressured by real life constraints such as work or school.

Frankly, that's a step forward I could get behind. I do have a question regarding continuity: would we be picking up where this game left off or establishing a new sequence of events? Will there be room for character revision and/or retcon?

To be clear I ask because I have some ideas on how to make Kane a more compelling villain and would like to work out implementing them.

Don't quote me, but I think it would be us taking where things are now and just moving it to a platform where we can control it. This move allows us to thin and edit down threads and players more easily. I wouldn't say some small alterations are impossible, but I think that would need discussion behind the scenes, first.

Dear Black Magic,

Your plan sounds pretty good to me.  It would be more of an homage to the first one instead of a rip-off.  And it would give any of the older players a place to go as you said.  I vote aye.

And as for choice of coGM, I think that you have made a fabulous choice.

As for Ma, she is basically floting in the wind because the last thing that I recall her doing was attempting to have a conversation with one of the players in hopes that something would happen.  So she isfree to go or be put wherever she is needed.

Peace and roses,
Ma

With only two players expressing any interest in continuing this game if moved, and you yourself Kane wishing to make a number of changes to your character, I made a few suggestions to Dieter that I was awaiting feedback on. However he appears to have been delayed by real life matters, and I apologize for the long wait coupled by the silence.

The biggest suggestion I will put before you now; I created a game in the same theme as Gift of Power, and when I showed it to Scripts they did not believe to be a steal of this game. My idea was, I revive that game and all who want move over to it. I would be willing to make alterations to it before official gaming started, in essence allow the players to help me build the game.

As for your characters here, they are your property and you may transplant them or not as you choose. My former game is in mothballs, however I will reactive and modify it if there is enough support.

In reply to Black Magic (msg # 12):

I'd be interested in transplanting Brianna over to your game, but I do have some questions. Primarily, how much of a fresh start will this be? Will the canon of Gift of Power and each character's experience be writ as backstory in the new game point-for-point? Or will there be some flexibility in re-establishing some of these characters, their Gifts, and the story?

It can be as much of a fresh start as you like, all the way down to the bare bones of your character(s) and built back up again in even a different form if you like. Or the exact opposite is true, and you may keep them exactly as they are here. From my point of view your characters are your rightful property, to be remade, edited, or transplanted as you see fit.

Same, this game had some good times. It was getting a little dense plot-wise towards the end, but I loved the characters. All of them.

I'd be up for a reboot, if that's ever on the table.

Without Scripts, I am unsure how much of the original plot exists. Perhaps Black Magic was in on it a bit?

However, I'd be up for a light reboot where Schwarze Augen is the main antagonist. Not sure how we'd manage the backstory... but that could be fun.

Half the problem, in the end, to my thoughts, was all the secondary stuff and dead characters cluttering things. If we could boil it down to the core characters/writers and a centralized plot. Could be a hoot.

OH Namidias! I forgot he was an actual person. I always though of him as an explanation for how all these villains got their money and henchmen and the like. Kind of a Kane way of thinking, really.

Still, I'd love to give Kane a dusting off and some chaos to cause.

It might just be because I joined late, but hell, I could barely figure out what was going on...it helped me stay in-character, admittedly.

Also, call me a stooge, but I am starting up an old Yugioh rp called The Call of the Duel that was always made better by well-written characters. If piecing together a plot for this is going to take a while and anybody wants some light rp to write in to help shake off the dust, I'd be happy to have you.

I don't know that much about yugioh unfortunately, besides a bit of the abridged series. So I probably won't be able to contribute to that. @Brianna

Part of what I liked about this game was the option to have multiple villains to play as/against. 'Namidias' was the over-arching threat of the game, but I think that was just a mechanism for Scripts to stir the pot if things weren't moving. The best parts of the game IMO were always what the players came up with, and we had some great independent stories based on those interactions.

In a reboot, I think we could re-analyze the system. Judging the outcome of a fight based off writing quality is a good idea on paper, but the 'battles' ended up being quite long towards the end. Also, the stories that ended up being 'canon' often ended up having to use various plot points blended together from different stories, and have the gaps filled in by the GM writing OC, which I didn't really love.

Maybe in V2 a word limit and a hidden voting system might be the way to go.

Not a problem either way, Commander.

I think a word limit is definitely a worthwhile improvement; battle-posts being longer than a graduate thesis paper was one of the things that hobbled me as a relatively new player. It could also just be that Gaultown was a nightmare when I joined, and in all of those battle posts, I just wanted to make sure no Namidian offhandedly killed Brianna.

In that same vein, it's worthwhile to consider a TLDR after-action report at the end of each battle-post to go over the salient points; who died, who escaped, who's injured/captured, etc. I've seen a lot of the canon posts do this, but making it official for the non-canon ones as well might go a long way to getting these things better organized.
